  1. I ended up checking the archive because I couldn't find today's ep -- the postponed football game is being played on my regular Jeopardy! channel. And then I found it at 5:30! Anyway, I did not get FJ today. I did get the TS of beans, kangaroo rat, creosote, and Eagles. I believe I would have gotten Jungle Book if I'd been able to see the clue. When I did see it, it seemed obvious, but I suppose it would if one knows the answer. But, Remy, in Ratatouille, was a rat, not a mouse.
  2. Hee, hee, hee -- our local news reader just now said that severe weather is affecting "seventy-thousand million" people today.
  3. One of my mother's favorite quotes. We used it in her obituary.
  4. My favorite Pop Tarts are the Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, but they were pretty stingy with the frosting on the ones in the last box I bought. I also like the occasional Strawberry (frosted), but not enough to buy a whole box.
  5. I saw it this afternoon, and, like the musical "The Color Purple", some things had to be removed to make room for the music. This is not necessarily a bad thing, and it's probably just as well that they omitted the "relationship" between Coach Carr and Trang Pak. I missed a few good lines/situations from the original, but they mostly kept the best stuff. I liked the addition of social media -- that was a nice update. I thought they should have kept Regina in a pink dress for Spring Fling, and I also hated the pink pants she wore near the beginning. They were horrible pants! Something else she wore was really bad, too, but I've forgotten what offended me so much. Cady's father is gone! I know he didn't play a huge part in the original, but there's not even an explanation why her mother is a single mom! I do wish they'd kept Amy Poehler as Regina's mom, too. It was an interesting choice to have Regina's mom tell her about the Kalteen bars (rather than Shane Oman). I loved Damien! He was awesome (and it's a good thing they kept, "Four for you, Glen Coco. You go Glen Coco!"). Janis was great, too. Really, almost everyone did a great job with what they had to work with. And the singing was top notch. I did like that Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall are obviously together, though. So, overall, it was fine. It won't replace the original in my mind, but I'm not mad I saw it. As with Wonka, I probably won't seek it out, but if I run across it when I'm channel surfing, I won't change the station, either. ETA: I almost forgot -- I loved Lindsey Lohan's cameo!
  6. I misunderstood FJ, and named the city instead of the river. But at least I got that right, I suppose? And I only got three TS -- Windsor knot, The Good Fight, and kitten heel.
  7. Same! My gut reaction was Fig Newton, but no art movement fit the clue, so I concentrated on the date and came up with pop art, which of course led to Pop Tart. Sometimes it's amazing how fast the brain works. I only got one TS -- Ferris wheel. That was a great game!
  8. Instaget FJ for me tonight, but again, I seriously questioned myself because of how easy it seemed. But I couldn't think of anything else, so I stuck with it. The only TS I got was mammoth.
  9. Astonishingly, my small, rural area is getting the traveling Book of Mormon. Even more astonishingly, it is nearly sold out! I suspect there will be quite a few people who are greatly offended (they were by Avenue Q, and made the actors wear clothes for Hair). I can't wait. I saw Book of Mormon on Broadway several years ago, and enjoyed the hell out of it.
  10. Really good game last night. A nice mix of serious and silly, and good competition. FJ was an instaget -- BBC and the year gave it to me.
  11. My double avatars have disappeared -- I only see one now.
  12. Almost instaget FJ tonight, and I was far from certain, but it was all I could come up with, so here we are. I also got the TS of rarer, psychiatrist, tang, pike, and Rolls Royce.
  13. I use paper grocery bags to line my trash can. So I occasionally will get paper bags at the store, but I do mostly use my reusable bags.
  14. I was in the right part of the country for FJ tonight, but not the correct states. I ended up just choosing two at random, and they were both wrong. Oh well. The TS I got were King Charles (I said the correct name of the dog breed before the contestant answered), cream, South Dakota, and eclipsing. I've been to the Corn Palace. It's... interesting.
  15. Woo hoo! My months of being on call for jury duty are over! And I never had to actually go in -- all the potential trials I called in for were cancelled.
  16. I put them on top of other stuff -- nothing on top of the eggs. I've never seen them packed vertically like in that ad either.
  17. I like it too, even though the Backstreet Boys are not my demographic, either. I especially like the longer version, with the woman saying the odor went "bye bye bye" and the poster guys cut her off, saying, "Not us!" That song was NSYNC, and I remember that no one could keep straight which boy band was which.
  18. That idiotic Jardiance commercial is back in heavy rotation on one of my local channels. It had disappeared for a while, and I had hopes that it was gone for good, but no such luck.
  19. I did not get FJ tonight. I couldn't decide what was the relevant part of the clue, and couldn't think of what might have been updated recently, and I ran out of time before I had a guess. Oh well. I did get the TS of A Tale of Two Cities, salinity, and goose grease.
  20. I love that about the UK -- the prepared sandwiches and other foods available everywhere. When I was in Edinburgh for a few days a couple of years ago, I think I only ate in a restaurant once (had to get fish & chips!). There was a very convenient Sainsbury's, and between that and the farmer's market, I was quite well-fed.
  21. Awww -- Glynis Johns was just plain awesome. Votes for women! (step in time)
  22. Instaget FJ for me tonight. I also got the TS of Robert Louis Stevenson and Bhopal, although Bhopal was a guess based on the Union Carbide disaster. I had no idea it was a capital.
