  1. I wasn't suggesting they did. The point I didn't make very well is that entire, multi-year series (and film franchises) have examined the issue so Orville trying to do it in one episode seemed comparatively lame to me. I think people can leave jobs, which they're being paid to do however poorly or unfairly. Slaves didn't/don't have that option. US slaves also weren't regarded as fully human, if human at all. Whatever, I saw this episode as being more about validation of certain current problems as having their roots in history; and, regarding people (or robots) as either innate victims or villains without recognizing relevant historical factors.
  2. Apparently HIPAA laws no longer exist in this future. 😉 Claire was telling Isaac over dinner about LaMarr's medical issues in a gossipy and judgmental way. Ehhh. Domestic robots with increasingly humanoid behaviors and sensibilities, wanting to break free from their slavery. Hmm, I feel like Humans already did this. Lol, Ed (or Gordon) was about to get used as a live sex toy but Kelly cockblocked him. Claire expecting Isaac to get the emotions upgrade didn't seem much different to me from a guy insisting his girlfriend/wife get breast implants. Why should her desires be most important, and was she going to make a significant change as well? I get how Isaac was willing to do things to please her but maybe he doesn't realize he was being manipulated. Something is wrong with her, IMO. I guess this episode was partially Seth's take on ultra-feminism. However, any extreme "ism" becomes a problem eventually because nature abhors imbalance. But I did think this episode was an interesting and subtle way to address the continued relevance of painful history, and the nature vs. nuture debate.
  3. Why did Kim want those police officers who pulled up next to her to see her face? That might come back to haunt her if they later remember seeing her out driving. It won't jibe with the story Mike told her and Jimmy to tell. So Kim didn't know what Gus looked like, or was she unable to distinguish between Black men probably 30 years apart in age? (Or maybe she did know who Gus was and she was doing some CYA?) Gus should've listened to Mike though. Lalo was playing 3-D chess, albeit with too much trash-trashing towards the end. That situtation could've gone hella sideways for Gus if Lalo hadn't decided to be a Bond villain and run his mouth too long. Dang, Gus put on quite a performance for Lalo while he was positioning himself to shut the lights off. How could he be sure though that Lalo wouldn't just shoot him in the head to shut him up? Oh well, you gotta love it when a fallback plan comes together. 😉 Vince Gilligan: Ozymandias is the best episode ever? Hold my Dos Equis. Joi: nah but this one is up there.
  4. Well, okay, I can see how her relationships with those people were varying degrees of problematic. However, in some cases the people she was dealing with gave as good as they got, e.g., Kay. I have to think about this some more because "difficult" still isn't the word I'd use but right now I'm not coming up with a different word. It all comes back to what Catherine Deneuve once said: “At a certain age, you have to choose between your face and your ass.” On YR I think AH and SW seem to have made a clear choice. I see SC, MS, ED, and TEB as having made a different choice, opting instead to manage their faces and bodies primarily with plastic surgery and other enhancements. IMO, MCE, EH, MO, and CK are still in the gray area where they could go either way but some of them appear to be getting fillers at least. The actress seems to have a relatively thick midsection and I think they're using the belts to try to make her body look more proportioned. So far I don't think it's working. What's mainly odd to me is how badly Summer dresses given that she just spent some time in one of the fashion centers of the world. (She's like Y&R's version of Hope Logan. lol.)
  5. Nikki's statement necklace. Nice. Aaaannnddd there's Phyllis looking like she's turning tricks in the park on her lunch break. Seriously? Who walks around looking like that at her age? Was that a chem test between Phyllis and Ashland? Hmm, Red & Locke. I don't hate it. 🙄 Finally, a scene at the rooftop pool! Half the cast is still dressing like it's winter but at least the show has acknowledged summer has arrived in GC. Chelsea, how does one take a sabbatical from something which doesn't exist? AFAIC, your "career" as a fashion designer is a mostly a bad joke. You're doing the world a favor by putting it on hiatus. Harrison sure has grown. He's like a little sunflower. How old is he supposed to be now? Sure, Imani, when it comes to getting Elena out of her Newman Media contract, you're more than capable, you're just not willing. Scheming schemer is scheming. It cracks me up how few effs Michael has to give about Nikki's imperious attitude. Aw, Diane, snitches get stitches. But I thought Victor had people following Ashland. Why did Diane have to be the one to put out the alert? I'd like to know how much a podcast consultant gets paid. Or at least how much C-W is going to give utterly unqualified Chelsea. Lily should make Billy cover Chelz's paycheck from his salary. 😏 Billy said Jill had a reputation for being difficult. Really? When I think of Jill's history, the word "difficult" doesn't come to mind. I guess from Billy's perspective she's a tough mommy but she doesn't treat everyone the way she handles him. If Billy and Chelsea are going to be honest on the podcast about their shady pasts, I'm gonna need them to discuss exactly how Johnny came to be concieved. That was way beyond some of Chelsea's grifter ish. Odds are though, Billy won't want to bring his kids into it. Nate, you are too kind and gullible for your own good. I see grief sex (or maybe anxiety sex?) with Imani in your future. Lily, you need to start buying a clue. Chelsea is after your man. Re the previews for next week: ADAM! WHAT ARE YOU DOING??!!??! If you hurt my girl Sally...🤬🤬🤬💩💩💩👿👿👿
  6. Watched the show straight through today without recording immediate reactions. My post-viewing takes.: Looks like they gave RN his big Emmy reel scene there at the end. Meh. Sound and fury, signifying...not so much. It's not believable to me that Ashland is heartbroken over Victoria 's total rejection. Loved that Allie and Noah finally had an official date! Liked that he went to the Abbott manse to pick her up. But geez, could Noah have made more effort with his attire? He looked to me like he was just going out for some brewskis with his boys. I thought Allie looked cute in her sundress which supposedly was on loan from Summer. Ehhh, Summer's clothes would swallow tiny Allie. Stop trying to sell such silliness, Show; the viewers have eyes. Whatever, I got the impression Allie's not quite comfortable havng so much bare skin in public. 🤔 Sharon's eavesdropping on and mother henning of Noah is iffy to me because it's like she's doing therapy on him without being up front about it. Her convo with Traci helped a bit but I would rather she'd had it with Jack instead. Speaking of whom, where was Grandpa Jack? He didn't get to witness Allie's big moment! I don't understand why Victor gets to decide whether Ashland can see Harrison since he's only connected to the boy by marriage, thru Summer. Odds are Kyle would've refused Ashland anyway so what was the point of Ashland going to Victoria's office? Adam is pulling something wrt Victoria, NE, and NM, and I'm okay with it as long as Sally doesn't get caught in the crossfire. His telling Victoria he's broken up with Sally does not bode well to me. IMO he should've given Sally a heads-up before he used her to try to work Victoria. 🤨
  7. Holey moley, what an ugly dress on Amanda today. The fit, the hemline, the bleh color: yikes, yikes, yikes. She rarely makes a fashion don't as big as this one. Okay, the MWTs finally clarified that the Grinning Soul is Billy's slam book podcast--the one where he's altering his voice--and not his whinecast. I'm so relieved. 🙄 The wardrobe people should be ashamed of themselves, letting RN be on camera with those saggy butt jeans. The way they're writing Victoria now is puzzling to me. Are they wanting her to look like a smug, two-faced female dog? Are we supposed to be admiring her behavior? 🤔 Oh Lily. You done messed up by blowing Billy's cover as the Grinning Soul. I see a $500M lawsuit coming C-W's way because Nate will likely run his mouth about the Ashland takedown at the wrong place and time. 😉 First of all, the way Adam protected Sally from getting fired as NM CEO. You go, boy! Second, Nick, your trying to act as Victoria's corporate muscle would be laughable it weren't so absurd. Imani better hope Nate doesn't run into Sally. He could easily find out how she scammed him into having a not business dinner while Elena was out of town. Plus used Naya's medical issues to pull his sympathy. Hah! Does NE have any security at all? Ashland just strolled into Victoria's office like he owned the place, lol. I bet Nick will return just in time to punch him.
  8. Not sure why unmasked spoilers are being posted in the Daily Chat thread.
  9. ^^^SweePea59 you are so wrong for posting that video! I feel so squicky after having watched it. There really is porn for everything, huh? Y'all need to leave Noah and Allie alone. I bet when they do get to it they're going to rock each other's worlds like yacht rock on Neptune. 😏 Ehhh. I think Sally is still too young for Jack. Plus that would probably put her in the Phyllis and Diane mess as they both would likely turn some of their venom toward her. Jack's not worth those headaches.
  10. Preempted in my area today; watched online at CBS.com. Phyllis said she treats people how she wants to be treated. So, she wants people to run her over with a rented car? M'kay. 🙄 I still don't get why Diane is allowed to pitch PR ideas directly to Summer or Kyle. Isn't she supposed to be an entry-level worker? Allie, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. A lot of us are wondering what's going on between Jack and Phyllis. It's like a perpetual push-me-pull-you machine. Maybe the moment to have mentioned your new job opportunity to Faith and Noah was before you accepted it, Nick. It doesn't seem to me you actually value their opinions. Heh, Noah's face when he heard Nick's announcement wasn't exactly thrilled. "Aw man, running New Hope is gonna cut into my Allie-chasing time." For once Traci avoided issuing her some of her sappy platitudes when Allie told her what Phyllis tried to pull with her. She skipped right away like, "My name is Bennett, and I ain't in it." 😏 When is Phyllis going to learn to stop trash-talking Diane to Kyle? He wants to hear it even less than Jack. Whee! Nikki shooting daggers at Diane. But Diane stays having all the chill, lol. TMW you're telling your MIL you know she used your dad as a human fcukstick against your mommy. Why does Kyle bother trying to reason with Phyllis? Nikki and Phyllis should start a Diane is Evil, Just Ask Us! support group. 😵‍ Slick the way Diane made herself right at home in the Abbott house yet again. Meanwhile, poor Allie was struggling to get Diane to take a hint and leave. Allie is too nice. I think one day she's gonna need to tell both of Grandpa Jack's wimmen to climb off. Wonder if Victoria knows her niece is coming for her job? Victoria thought Adam was her worst nightmare but Faith is Victor's favorite grandkid. Auntie better hope Grandpa's in the ground before Faith is ready to get a feel for the NE CEO chair.
  11. OMG, Michael's ponytail. Or the "presidential" as the hip-hop kids are calling those short ponies these days. Go on with your bad self, Mr. Baldwin. What kind of job is critiquing a podcast for the person who's creating the content? Even if there is such a job, Chelsea wouldn't have any qualifications for it beyond her ability to get mouthy whenever she wants. She's lucky Billy is being so charitable. The Grinning Soul is Billy's secret podcast? But everyone knows it's him. These MWTs are just fcuking with us now. Diane dressed in a non-funereal color. It's a miracle! Also, I noticed today that Harrison sort of looks like her around the eyes. Kind of a happy coincidence since their resemblance was probably not a factor when the young fellow was cast as Kyle's son. Ashland isn't exactly trying to hide if he's lurking around in the park. And last week he went to both Society and Crimson Lights. Victor's crack security team must still be hitting the pipe because their target is right out in the open. Listen to Sally, Adam. She's likely the only adult in your life who has your best interests at heart. My girl is truly in love. ❣ Nick said Victoria had taken most of Ashland's fortune. Um, again: Ashland wasn't broke before Victor gave him the $500M so why would he be broke now? I know they're trying to make Victoria look like a bada$$ dragon-slayer but this is b.s. and it's insulting to the audience. 🤨 Victor basically told Adam there's no real forgiveness for him as far as the Newmans are concerned so he might as well swallow his pride and be greatful he gets to breathe the same air as them. Ugh, Adam needs to stop wasting his time and energy on trying to prove himself worthy to Victor and his trash family because it'll never happen. Nikki, Sally Spectra has more gumption than any of you nattering nabobs of Newman nepotism. Shut yer snooty trap. Victor's next brilliant plan may go off the rails and provoke Ashland into kidnapping Harrison. Sigh. Who uses an innocent child like that? At least Diane proved herself honorable on the matter, to Michael's annoyance. Victor needs to consult with Super Stepmommy Summer before he puts Harrison in play. 😏
  12. Some past eras are less friendly than others, while futuristic eras could eliminate racial distinctions altogether. Among humans, anyway. Once alien species start arriving, all bets are off. 😉 Sure, but I wasn't thinking primarily of the guests' potential mistreatment. I think it'll be another timeframe in which they might feel entitled to abuse certain hosts of color, because history.
  13. I was half expecting it to be a horse's severed head or something with all those flies swarming. Ugh Glad to see Manny Montana again (Carver) after that Good Girls debacle. Good old Westworld. Back to befuddle me again.
  14. William's not a psychopath, he's neurodivergent with an amazing golf swing! Don't get it twisted Mr. Vice President. Oh well... The Golden Age. Another era which wasn't so great for most people of color, unless they were rich but even that was no guarantee in certain parts of the US. This should be interesting.
  15. 3 Still feels to me like Craig is getting played by his new biking and robbing buddy. Well we're finally finding out how and why Andrew become Pope. Why was Smurf so opposed to Julia having a job, enough to corrupt her with the gift of a stolen car? Just being a control freak, or she doesn't want her kids to do better without her? Aw, Craig. You'd been doing so good with your sobriety. Craig's new friend is trouble. "You're feelin' low? Let's go out to the desert and shoot this gigantic machine gun. That'll perk you right up, Craig." (Over on reddit they think the guy is a cop and the robbery he got Craig in on in the previous episode was 100% staged.) Smurf might've been right to try to steer Pope away from the church. He was probably vulnerable enough to get abused, and she reserved the right to abuse him herself. Plus, he could've ended up killing a priest and that would've been a whole 'nother level of trouble. 4 Deran's new fuck buddy is hella shady. He asks too many "just curious" questions. Craig's new thieving & sobriety buddy still looks shady too. His ex who's screwing Craig is probably in on whatever he's pulling on Craig. This married woman dealing with J might also be problematic. He thinks he's lowkey working her but she's probably up to something. It might be as simple as trying to get pregnant since she knows he's got $$$. Smurf was like, "Andrew, thou shalt have no other gods before me." And ugh at her kissing him straight on the lips. He senses that it's wrong. Craig's fake name when he went to case the jewelry guy was Mr. Smith. Hah! Robbing a church? Dang, Smurf. You're giving Satan a run for his money. Man, they're coming for the Codys from all sides.
  16. Re episode 2 Craig's cokehead "bro" looked like an Asian version of Joseph Gordon Levitt. That motorcycle guy knew to target Craig for a possible job. Seems sus. Yeah, there's nothing like a wool cap in 90° weather to make you sick to your stomach. 🙄 J moving on a married woman. Who was lowkey letting him know she was down for some adultery. And her husband's a soldier. What could possibly go wrong? Yeah, a skateboard park with only one ramp? It's a money pit.
  17. ^^^His body tho. PF is like something created by Michelangelo.
  18. Ed better hope Dev didn't have a backdoor "eject captain" button installed on the ship. Karens gonna Karen, lol. Dev wasn't ready for the Baldwins. Danny was sending that video to his brother? That means Jimmy knows about the tryst with Karen. He better hope Jimmy doesn't let it slip to Danny's wife or Molly. Margo did Sergei a solid getting him out of that Siberian prison. He was probably receiving beatdowns from Putin himself. What were those gooballs, fried ganja? Were those really a thing? Yech. 🤮 OMG, Ed. You are going to lose your mind when you find out your boy Danny was the one Karen cheated with. I wouldn't put it past Danny to let Ed know in some slippery way. Aleida should've let it go. Now Margo has to kill her. 😉 Was Danny trying to let Phoenix crash? I think he likely would've been okay with killing himself if it meant Ed would be dead too. At least NASA won the Mars race, though having the Russians with them was a cop out IMO. And Dev learned a very expensive lesson: sometimes throwing a ton of money at a thing isn't enough if the Fickle Finger of Fate has other plans. Wonder what Margo can do to get Sergei and his family to safety without destroying her own future? Plus she's got Aleida to deal with. Over on reddit they're joking that Kelly is going to get knocked up by the Russian cosmonaut with the first Mars baby. Whee!
  19. Yes and my point was that I didn't like them using that manuever again. It's been done enough AFAIC.
  20. FuturePike stuck with the bouffant, lol. A good ol' fashioned standoff with Romulan Birds of Prey. Good times. Oh wow, Pike looked right into the camera at the end. He's big mad. When does next season start?!?! The Orville also did a "having to make a tough choice between alternate timelines" episode this week. Of course SNW did it in a much more satisfying way.
  21. Yeah, I've thought about that with the Imani and Nate storyline too.
  22. Gordon has a nice singing voice. After Bortus and Gordon, will they have a woman character sing next? Rolling Stones. Hmm, would they really play a Stones song in a biker bar? I'd expect heavy metal or Southern rock. On ST: Picard they let their version of Gordon bring his alternate reality family (which he'd adopted) back to the ship with him. But eventually he decides to stay in the past with them.
  23. I guess what Adam needs to do is commission a portrait of himself. Apparently you can't really be the official NE CEO without one. 🙄 Victoria: Ashland is gone and he's out of our lives for good! Joi: or so you thought, Vik. Ashland is like one of those STDs which don't so much as go away, they just hide out for a while and show up when you least expect them. Hmm, was Jack feeling feverish today? I didn't think he'd ever talk to Sally willingly, except perhaps to insult her. Nick as COO of NE. Hah, don't be too impressed, Sharon. The COO job title and a quarter won't get you a cup of coffee...well, anywhere in 2022. But catch my drift, hon: Nick would do better if the man behind the curtain gave him a brain. Unquestionable loyalty, Victoria? In other words, you want your family--including daddy--to be a bunch of sycophants who'll drink your bath water and swear it tastes like champagne. FOH. Ashland, Adam isn't an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of guy. He'd sooner run his own game on you to try to get a leg up on Victoria. You stay overplaying your hand with these Borgias Newmans. Jack lending a sympathetic to ear to Sally. I cannot wrap my head around it. What's in it for him? 🤔 Billy still treating Chelsea like an old chum. KMN. Ditto comments uphread, I think Victoria is the nastiest, most smug POS in town. And Nikki isn't much better. They're gonna be sorry for being so dismissive and disdainful of Adam. <fingers crossed> Is Devon no longer partnering in New Hope with Nick? Nick was saying he'd smooth the way for Noah to take over but I'd expect Devon would need to be read in on that beforehand. Chelsea would be the last person to get sane production advice from on anything, even a stupid podcast. This has to be a sideways move on her part to get with Billy. And the fool doesn't see it coming. Wonder if Sally took a shower after her midday jog in the park? Whatever, it looks like she's about to be in a position of having to decide whether she should rescue Adam from the darker angels of his nature. Pshht, everyone in town knows Billy is the voice of the Grinning Soul. Did Victoria mean his other podcast, the one where he masks his voice? Either way, she's setting Billy up for a retaliatory lawsuit if he uses it to take a dump on Ashland's reputation, no? That's the reason why he's been altering his voice, to avoid legal hassles. Re the previews for next week: oh noes, Ashland! Did room service get your breakfast order wrong? Gosh, I hate when that happens. 😏
  24. Hiding in plain sight at the GCAC. Okay. But does Ashland know Diane lives there too? Whatever, odd how he's still calling Victoria his wife while she just told Billy she's single. How long is this day? Seems like Nikki's been wearing that red suit for a week now. "Victoria has never let sentiment get in the way she runs the company." Have you met your daughter, Nikki? There's definitely some kind of deep emotion at play with the way she treats Adam. Won't Michael Baldwin recognize this Stannis guy from their misadventures in Peru? I don't see why Ashland would be relying on someone who already failed at their job. Watching Billy give Victoria a tongue bath was not on my agenda for today. Bleh. But I was loving Nick crapping on the way Victor treats his kids. Unfortunately he's still getting sucked back into the NE corporate maelstrom. 😒 Did Nikki get her mood stabilizer Rx refilled? She seemed almost loopy to me when she was talking with Nick at the coffeehouse. Or maybe she had a flask of vodka in her purse, ha ha. Meh, I wish Victor would get a new shtick. The BillyBoyAbbott thing is so worn out it's on life support. Wait, is Chelsea actually dropping her deals with Fenmores and Marchetti or was she shining Chloe on? Hope she hasn't signed any contracts. Heh, I can't wait to see Summer's face when she hears the news. Poor Chloe. The amazing job offer she got from Sally went poof! in less than 24 hours, and she just got fired by her bestie. It's a double whammy day. 😕
  25. Heh, this is what Victor thinks the Newman inner circle looks like: This is what they actually are; The office gossip at NE must be insane. From one day to the next the staff has no idea who's in charge. They might be better off Ashland did manage to execute a hostile takeover. Of course he'd also have to pack the entire Newman family in a rocket and blast it right into the sun.
