  1. I don't have to look for them; they get put right in my face on an almost daily basis. It's perhaps not easy for people who probably don't have such experiences to understand. This is a popular soap opera and presumably TPTB behind this show don't intend to insult a probably not insignificant portion of their audience. They seemed to have changed some issues that have been complained about here and on other forums so AFAIC the Myrna thing is another easy fix. There are other ways for Caroline to show her disdain for her husband's sidepiece without crapping all over certain characters, actors, and some audience members' cultural heritage. Especially now that the show has been advised that it is a problem. (I'm very confident people involved with the show read this and other soap forums.) I'm going to give the writers the benefit of the doubt and assume they were trying to have Crinoline give Maya the "Bye, Felicia" treatment. Problem is, I'm not sure that works across racial lines unless the people involved are very good friends, which in this case they most certainly are not.
  2. I don't see it as a zero-sum game. It's possible to look down on Maya without necessarily supporting Caroline. I think they've both been wrong for various reasons at different times. Right now the writers seem to be tilting slightly in Caroline's favor but I expect that to end as soon as she either a) commits adultery herself (the PIV kind, not a few kisses) or b) finds out that Rick is playing her and is still with Maya. FWIW, I don't think Crinoline is racist but I do think her "Myrna" crap is, intentional or no. Dear writers: please go re-read one of your HS history books. Pay closer attention to the parts in the antebellum era and how certain peoples' names birth names were disregarded and replaced. It's a disrespectful thing to do to anyone but in a historical context IMO it's particularly disrespectful to do to Maya (or Carter, or Justin, or Othello, etc.)
  3. Not at all trying to defend Maya but I think in her mind, she and Rick will be together for decades. They'll have children and grandchildren and eventually she'll be old enough to reign as the Forrester matriarch. Frankly I think the Forresters would all disown themselves and renounce their family name before they'd regard Maya as their matriarch but I guess a girl (named Maya) can dream... Yep. She probably should have gone straight to Eric to begin with instead of trying to reason with spoiled baby Rick and his gun moll. But I'm mostly still on the "stay out of it" train because although Rick may be a lot of bark and little bite, I think Maya would actually cut a bish.
  4. But I'm not sure if that was a function of MM's acting or if the character was written to be Adam-ish. Maybe the producers thought they were playing to MM's "strengths".
  5. Wow. Has that ever been done on a daytime soap before? I'll be majorly impressed if B&B pulls that off. ETA: Yeah, the spoiler tags are mostly speculation on the first actual spoiler about , a plot point which may have been dumped because right now it seems like something that would come out of thin air.
  6. Why is there a rack of shirts in the CEO's office? And why is the CEO's office also used as a design studio? You'd think FC could afford to have a separate room for the designers, what with those exorbitant prices they're charging for the couture gowns. Geez, could those shirtless scenes with Carter have been more gratuitous? If I didn't know better I'd think he was trying to flirt with Ridge. And why was Carter's chest so shiny? He probably has to have his shirts specially laundered to get huge oily stains out of them. Oh Maya, get over yourself; it's not like Ivy called you a heaux. You slid your foot into that shoe without anyone's help. But I agree with comments upthread that Ivy probably needs to keep her nose out of it. Not out of fear but because there's just nothing to be gained by wallowing in someone else's filth. . No kidding. Rick had better be careful with her. I can see Maya deliberately getting knocked up in hopes of forcing his hand. A Forrester anchor baby would basically set her up if not for life then at least the next 20 years or so. It'll be hilarious if macho man Rick has two women pregnant at the same time. Wasn't there a spoiler that it was going to be ?
  7. If you're using Firefox or some other Mozilla-based browser, install both NoScript and AdBlock Plus. On the CBS site you can leave ABP off and instead use NoScript to keep the ads from running. I never see any ads when I watch B&B or Y&R online. I think if Eric were anything but a doddering old fool, he could've dealt with Rick's bad behavior without involving Caroline. I don't understand why he keeps putting her into a position of being used as a tool by both Rick and Ridge. It's like Eric has some subconscious hostility toward her and Ridge and Rick are his weapons. $Bill's probably going to end up putting a beatdown on Rick the same way he did Ridge but it's probably Eric who really needs a good butt-kicking as far as Caroline is concerned.
  8. Me too. Plus the unlikelihood that Carrie will get with Khan. Plus the possibility that Carrie caused Quinn to go on a literal dead-end mission. Quinn "Corleone": Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in!
  9. Heh, the barista (baristo?) should probably stick to what he does best...make lattes lightly garnished with sawdust.
  10. I only was able to watch the second half of the movie but what I did see left me wondering why anyone would call it "his" movie since he wasn't the hero. He was just maybe the second-biggest "celebrity" in the cast. I wasn't really impressed by his acting because it came across to me like he was just doing less angsty version of Adam. I'd also like to see him play a regular good guy just to see if he could pull it off.
  11. For those who have the ION Television channel, "Back to Christmas"--the movie MM is co-starring in--is on tonight. I happened to catch it about an hour in while channel-surfing. So far his character seems sort of Adam-lite, in courtship mode. The ION website says it's going to be re-broadcast on December 25.
  12. I liked the way the stories were all sort of interwoven together through Jon Hamm's character. The one with guy who kept trying to see his ex and the kid didn't surprise me though. I've watched enough soap operas to have known that wasn't going to be his kid.
  13. Bonus points if she drops the bomb at a board meeting while shooting eye daggers at Maya. Bonus bonus points if she tells Caroline and Caroline does it. Karma, biatch! I use Adblock Plus and I've found one way to get around that is to let the whole show run at least once and then go back and watch the parts you want by clicking on the progress bar under the video. It doesn't always work though; maybe cookies come into play. Good use of show history notwithstanding, Ridge mentioning the first Caroline sorta creeped me out. I thought it was like, "Yeah, I got the Original Recipe, OG Caroline and now I'm about to get the New & Improved, So Fresh and So Clean Caroline. Yay me!"
  14. Either a designer or a model. This show seems to consider it the highest compliment to turn women into models even if they don't have the body or the attitude for it. I bet Maya's sister is going to take over as the HFTF model in Hope's absence. I take your point about the writers but actually, I think that's exactly where Rick is. Maya is just a way for him to work off the excess energy that he's literally not putting into Caroline. It's also a way for him to recoup his "manliness" after having been cuckholded by his brother. I know he and Maya had a romance in the past but I don't think that's where he is now. I believe he still loves Caroline but his widdle feelings are hurt. He's just stringing Maya along and she's too googly-eyed to see it.
  15. One thing I find telling about Rick and Maya's conversations is that she always speaks of their future while he only speaks in terms of his future. Wonder when/if she's ever going to pick up on that? As far as Caroline's feelings about Ridge are concerned, I don't think she's in love with him. IMO it's maybe one step up from being a schoolgirl crush. Which makes it extra sad that she put her marriage at risk for an infatuation. Meanwhile, Ridge is footloose and fancy-free to work his angsty artist moves on whomever he chooses. Hide your wives and daughters...
  16. I don't think Maya should have lost her job for the affair with Rick, I think she should have lost it for the way she instigated the situation to begin with. She had zero proof that Ridge and Caroline were having a full-blown PIV affair. Yet, she fell all over herself to drop an insinuation bomb at a board meeting mainly so she could break up Rick's marriage. Maya is toxic, IMO, and I continue to be amazed at the leeway she's given to roam the halls stirring up shiat. She's not family and she's only a friggin' model. Why does her behavior always get a pass? Frankly I think both Rick and Maya should have been fired after the way they rubbed their actual PIV affair in everyone's faces. But I guess that's the way the Forresters roll, starting with Eric and going right on down through the sons.
  17. Yeah, I wonder why the show hasn't addressed that more specifically? Are they waiting until Crinoline sleeps with Ridge? (Or Carter, if the rumors are true.) Whatever, I have a hard time believing that little punk Rick is so virile that he can satisfy two women at the same time. I'll bet he's sleeping in the guest room because he's still hurting from the betrayal. KMN. Plus there's those big hands of his. FWIW, I don't find Carter all that attractive either. He seems like he's really into his own looks. Back in the day some interwebs posters used to call Olivia on Y&R "Black Barbie"; likewise, Carter comes across to me like "Black Ken"--kind of plastic and always ready to strike a pose.
  18. Well now, I just got a whole new regard for Cane. Would Y&R dare give us some hot guy-on-guy action? It's been a few years since Adam seduced Rafe. Hee, it sounds like Cane might actually like that and like it a whole lot. I'll bet Joe could turn Cane out with minimal effort. OMG, wouldn't that blow princess Lily's mind to find out her hubby's on the DL.
  19. When he left and the door closed behind him, I was surprised he didn't do a little jig. Like Beyoncé sang, if he want it then he shoulda put a ring on it--but of course he doesn't and so he didn't. Now $Bill will come up with some boulder-sized diamond solitaire, just in time for the holidays! Rick had better be careful with Maya. He's nicely set up a situation where if she's ever actually fired she could sue FC for sexual harassment. Especially when she realizes she's not really runway model material.
  20. Heh, Rick shouldn't even be the captain of one of the Titanic's lifeboats.
  21. Oh Maya. You should pull up Urban Dictionary and take a look at the definition of the term "fcuk pad" (except spell it correctly). And seriously, a bathtub not only in the living room but also in front of a picture window? WTF? What was up with that gigantic tie Rick was wearing? He looked like a clown. I don't think a guy of his relatively diminutive stature can carry off a tie like that.
  22. So, is the US government protecting Haqqani? I'm so confused. It was great to see Carrie's face crack when she realized Quinn hasn't been pining her for all this time and he's had a hot ex-girlfriend on the back burner. Does Carrie's baby have Down Syndrome? So would that mean that Quinn's ex ratted him out because otherwise, how would they know? He is. I hope Carrie gets to hop on that at least once before she leaves. And then I hope either he or Carrie gets to kill Tasneem.
  23. !!!!!!!!!!!! Geez, I hope that isn't supposed to be an Italian surname because if Chicago mafiosi are all up this, I'm done with Joe Superman. Yeah, "like" as in she had to go change her underwear not long afterward.
