If Loving You Is Wrong - General Discussion
Joimiaroxeu replied to Meredith Quill's topic in If Loving You Is Wrong
It was nice of Brad to admit that he shouldn't have asked Alex for all the gory details of the affair. I'm glad he and Marcie didn't go through with it, at least not under the current circumstances where it would mainly be about some kind of weird revenge. Wow, Alex's OB/GYN is incredibly presumptuous. How was it her place to call Brad without asking Alex first? It's not as if Alex was unconscious and they needed him to make decisions on her behalf. So it's either another case of TP not doing his research or Alex's doctor really is that bad. There are non-invasive DNA tests that can be done at 8 weeks into the pregnancy. Jump on Google, Brad. Figure it out. And oh, Brad dear, you might want to think twice about committing perjury for that gangster-wannabe Eddie. He'll drag you down into the gutter with him. Alex's kids act like Stepford Children. Wonder if she plugs them in at night to recharge? Meanwhile, she has got some nerve acting like she's the injured party and Brad should feel sorry for her and the baby that probably isn't his. I can't with Randal's ears, or his and Marcie's sadistic sex foreplay games. And is Marcie trying to get Brad killed? Why would she tell Randal a lie like that knowing what a psycho he is. Yeah, that was quite a virtual tongue bath the girlfriends gave Alex. You'd think her pregnancy was the second Immaculate Conception. I guess we're to understand that Alex is the show's ingenue, even though the very first scene of this show was her screwing a guy who wasn't her husband. -
I agree. However it has seemed to me, especially on this forum, that many viewers had difficulty separating their dislike of the character from their regard for the actress. Now I'll admit I made the same mistake when MS was playing Phyllis but I was surprisedly happy to get cured of that when GT took over the role. Whatever, I think a lot of the criticism about Kelly and CM were over-the-top to an extreme that at times has really left me taken aback. I wish CM well and hope she lands somewhere where she'll have a better written role and her talent will be appreciated.

I really like Pam's outfit. Not a lot of women her age could pull off that look but IMO she looks great. Wyatt seems to have chunked up a bit and his wearing several layers of clothing doesn't help. Rick told Ridge he knew Maya's body. Heh, apparently not. I can't wait until Ridge gets to throw that back in his face. Again with the mini-letter openers? How are Bill, Liam, and Wyatt not the laughing stock of LA with those things?

The Talk or The View? The Talk (the one hosted by the CBS president's wife) seems to be pretty tightly scripted. I don't think those women say a word that hasn't been previously approved and there's really not much off-the-cuff banter. Even when they disagree on a particular issue, each person usually speaks their opinion while the others listen. The View OTOH seems to be your basic cackling hen party but I have to admit that I haven't really watched it since AMC was cancelled. (Ptooey, ABC Daytime).

Loved Maya's bag and her safari dress. Oh Pam, a woman's purse is sacrosanct, even it's a woman you don't like. That said, unless Maya needs to take her medication several times a day I don't understand why she's carrying it around with her. Why do soaps always have women carrying around their stuff like BC pills and home pregnancy tests? Has there ever been a male character who's accidentally had a condom or some Viagra tablets fall out of his pockets? Nicole, Nicole, Nicole. You've had two dates with Wyatt and neither of them has been in a public place. You should be wondering why/whether he's ashamed to be seen with you and not pretending like you've been dropped into an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. So, Charlie's a pharmacist in his spare time? GMAFB. Ugh, Carter, put a shirt on. Don't nobody need to see your breasteses. His are bigger than Maya's. That must've been interesting in the boudoir.

Wouldn't it be funny if Sansa makes it through her second marriage with her virginity still intact. If she's smart she'll let Theon do it.

Of course. Sitcoms are all about absurdity. Palin and Vanilla Ice work as reference points because on their own, in many circles, they're considered jokes. They're already punchlines. I'd be more concerned if Diane and Jack's heroes were, say, Scarlett O'Hara and Ted Nugent.

Of course but on American TV--particularly daytime soaps--underaged drinking usually isn't portrayed so nonchalantly. Ditto comments upthread, I think the audience needs to get some clear indication that Nicole is several years older than the actress portraying her because not too long ago she was supposed to be a fairly new college freshman or sophomore. Typically that would put her at about 18 or 19. Otherwise, I think there needs to be some melodrama created because adult Wyatt has been encouraging underaged drinking. Doing it in his own home is one thing but having it happen in the SP corporate jet could become another level of problem, especially if she can claim he tried to take advantage of her while she was intoxicated. Plus she knows that he's trying to get dirt to use against Rick in order to depose him as CEO. She could say that Wyatt's been trying to involve her in corporate espionage.

Maybe not. Alex already told Brad that Randal is more "gifted" in the critical area. Marcie would likely be disappointed with Brad given what she's accustomed to with Randal. But then again, maybe Brad has other talents... -
IKR? That'd probably be safer than madcap vandalism where you and your girlfriend the FC employee leave your fingerprints all over the place. Yeah but Nicole is a minor (under 21) who was being plied with alcohol by an adult who knows better. I'm glad at least they mentioned that she had called a car service to take her home. LOL, wut? If anyone scored later, it was probably Ivy. Liam seemed to have developed a whole new appreciation for her hidden talents and likely "rewarded" her accordingly. When The Secret finally comes out, Rick is probably going to feel like Julius Caesar on the Ides of March. He's pretty much made enemies of everyone except his doting mommy, his dotty grandpa, and Maya. The knives will come out and it'll be a bloody mess.

Probably not unless there's a lawsuit or something which forces Lee Daniels to do it. She's now released the emails between her and Daniels' representatives supporting her claim that she was the original choice for Cookie. Releasing private emails is a step over the professional line, I think, and I'm not sure what she hoped to accomplish by doing that. It's not as if LD is now going to go, "Oops, my bad, well, I guess we'll just fire Taraji and put Mo'Nique in the role!" IMO Mo'Nique is just digging herself into a bigger hole. That's great. Maybe now both characters will be fleshed out more.

Junior can bring up the rear in a doo-rag. Wesley Snipes-ian understanding of American tax law. This episode was just laughs from beginning to end.

If Loving You Is Wrong - General Discussion

Brad had "visible panty lines". The wardrobe people need to fix that because it was distracting. What justification did Eddie have to enter Randal and Marcie's house like he did? And with his gun drawn? He's such an idiot. Marcie, you really didn't need to be getting behind the wheel of a car after taking several shots of alcohol. And ew, I hope Brad and Marcie came to their senses and didn't have sex. Why lower themselves to Alex and Randal's level? That won't fix anything. This must have been another one of those times when TP didn't write enough dialogue to fill the 42 minutes. All that repetitive conversation and talking extra slow was the same MO we're accustomed to seeing on The Haves and the Have Nots. -
I dunno, do we know it's been peach doing them all this time or has perhaps Doppelpeach showed up? DUN, DUN, DUN! Seriously, thank you peach for your hard work and dedication to this task. It's a sorry state of affairs when the recaps are way more entertaining than the show itself but yay for us for getting to read and enjoy them. Brava!

They're probably assuming there'll be a huge scandal and bad PR which will hurt FC's sales. Since the CEO is connected at the hip to the focal point of the scandal, he'd probably have to go in order to begin rebuilding FC's public image. Plus, Rick might react in a volatile way and not consider the long-range implications of his hasty decisions. I don't think Brooke wants Deacon for herself, she just doesn't want him with Quinn. She probably could have broken them up if she'd agreed to get back with Deacon (which he seemed to be gambling on) but so far she's refused to do that. Her fallback maneuver is to use her kids.
-
On a positive note, I thought Quinn looked beautiful. Loved her dress, her hair, and her jewelry. The guys looked good too in their wedding suits. Re Wyatt's suit, wasn't that the same one he wore to the yacht wedding with Hope? But poor Quinn, that entire mess was probably on her own dime, including the engagement ring. It's sad that she's so desperate that she'd finance her own just-add-water insta-nuptials from top to bottom. I'd think that if she wanted to buy a husband she'd could get a better one than a doughy slacker like Deacon. How many times are Maya and Nicole going to have that same conversation? Enough already, we get it. No one can find out! Brooke is so disgusting. Always using her kids to try to work their fathers who don't want her anymore. But when she doesn't need to use them her kids better stay out of sight because she's got more important stuff to worry about.

Quinn: "It's at Wyatt's house. Uh, we'll -- we'll pay for your gas or -- or your fee or we'll give you a big tip." Source: http://tvmegasite.net/day/bb/transcripts/bb-trans-04-15-15.shtml It's really odd, isn't it? I wish the writers would explain what's going on there. Has she been homeless a long time or something? When she left wherever she and Maya came from did she have to go with just the clothes on her back? Whatever, you'd think Maya would hook her up with some remainders from the HFTF line. At least those clothes are from this decade. (And to clarify, I don't think there's anything wrong with classic, vintage clothing but that stuff Nicole's wearing is hardly classic or vintage.)

If Loving You Is Wrong - General Discussion

FFS, Eddie does coke while on duty and while he's driving. Seriously? Is TP trying to do some low rent version of Training Day? Sorry but the guy playing Eddie is no Denzel Washington. Hmm, looks like "Whitley" had some work done during the show's mid-season hiatus. Her face looked amazingly, um, refreshed. But Kelly girl, you need to run fast and far away from that nutbag and her son the mama's boy. LOL, Brad. Did he stay there all night swinging that ax at Randal's boat? No wonder his shirt was all sweated out. And poor Brad if he thinks Eddie is his friend. Eddie the thug is going to "help" him right into a murder rap, or at least an attempted one. Randal has weird ears. He looks like he might have some Vulcan genes. Maybe he's a distant relative of Spock. Alex's girlfriends are ridiculous. I know they feel like they need to support her but expecting Brad just to get over it is insane. His wife in all likelihood is carrying Randal's baby and he's supposed to pretend like everything's fine now that he knows about the affair? Meanwhile, I hope Marcie didn't sign a prenup and has enough of her own money to hire a shark divorce attorney. Yeah, this show might possibly be the worst one on TV but it's like seeing a ten-car pileup on the freeway. You're horrified but you can't help but look. -
Quinn doesn't have 30-40 years worth of pent up resentment against Brooke so that wouldn't be a score she'd be trying to settle. But I don't see why she wants Brooke to come to the wedding. Hope is not a minor so the fact that Brooke is the mother of Deacon's kid is hardly a reason for Brooke to attend her ex's wedding. I imagine the only reason Brooke and/or Hope will show up will be to try to stop the ceremony. You'd think Quinn wouldn't want to risk that kind of "forever hold your peace" drama. So when is someone going to bug Rick's office? It seems like everybody and their brother (or sister) uses that room for personal gossiping and secret-telling. One well-placed bug could blow up several people's lives. I can see it now: when the truth comes out, Maya's going to claim she didn't want to tell Rick for fear of the scandal it would cause FC. Of course by that point probably half of LA will know and the scandal will be way more uncontainable than if she just told him now.
-
Ya think? To me it looks like they literally fastened a horse's tail to the back of her head, hot rollered it, and then flung it over her shoulder. I get that too. What I don't see is why she thinks being engaged will provide her some protection when she does (presumably) tell him. Rick had no problem dumping a wife for betraying his trust so it'll probably be easy peasy for him to dump a fiancee for the same reason. Maya should accept that there's just no guarantee how Rick will react and whether he'll still want to be with her after he knows--no matter when she tells him. Plus, the longer she waits the worse it'll be if he finds out from someone other than her. "Okay, Mr. Lincoln, Mr. Washington, Mr. Woodward, Mr. Bernstein, Princess Cassandra, and all you notary publics, line up over here. Now, those of you who've cut down a cherry tree please leave the line. Um, Mr. Washingon, where do you think you're going?" The first day in my first history class in college the professor told us that the cherry tree story never happened. It's a just fable that's ironically about the supposed honesty of our hallowed first president. A good portion of the class was amazed to realize that our teachers probably all the way back to first grade had been perpetuating that lie. Probably not unlike the way Rick will be amazed to find out how long Maya's been less than honest with him (and Carter) about a significant aspect of herself.
-
I don't get the point of the hate crime designation. The prosecution knows Aubrey is Carter's girlfriend so how is that going to play? Especially if the defense can manage to get her straightened up enough to testify for him. Odds are though, he won't want her anywhere near his defense since she'd be likely to show up high and ruin everything.
-
So was it a coincidence that Missy Pyle sort of looks like Jenny McCarthy?
-
I sort of agree with Maya, it's not Carter's secret to tell. However, I think he should tell Rick that Maya has some life-altering information about herself which involves them both and that he'll only tell Rick in Maya's presence and if Maya refuses to do so herself. Also, yep, there's a semi truck of uppance coming Maya's way but as far as faces getting cracked are concerned, I think Rick's will hit the ground with such force that it'll register on on the Richter scale.
