Season 17 Live Feed Discussion: Watch People Sleep All Day!
Joimiaroxeu replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
I think Vanessa mispronounced "psychotic". -
For the most part, yeah. However, last week when Nicole found out that Zende was a Forrester, she initially had a hard time connecting the dots that he was adopted. She seemed to have assumed that his non-Forrester parent was Black, based on his appearance. I was really surprised the show went that route instead of just having him tell her upfront or her find out on her own. I imagine that's what the writers have intended but for a while, IMO, at least some of Caroline's behavior toward Maya was racial (i.e., the "Myrna" crap). At least the writers eventually put a stop to that nonsense. I'm fine with Caroline or whoever being a snob but think it's possible to do that while not being disrespectful of people's cultural histories. At least B&B isn't as bad as Y&R where pretty much every new woman of color casted is matched with one of the two Black male characters (and usually gets passed from one to other like a hand-me-down suit). Wyatt stated at the 4th of July party that the four of them would be dating each other. No one contradicted him so apparently it's an understanding they all have.

The Haves And The Have Nots - General Discussion
Joimiaroxeu replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Haves And The Have Nots
Oh FFS, Celine has her own apartment set now? What does it take to get rid of that psycho? Her son can stay though. ¡Muy caliente! I'm liking this new harder-edged Jeffrey. Maybe all he needed was a good screw with a hot man. Veronica's on the verge of looking like a cartoon villain, however. Maggie's not as smart as she thinks she is. She should have shown those photos to David, or even better, to Veronica. Guess she values her career as a political consultant more than all else. I'm glad Melissa finally told the truth about what Ronnie's been putting her and her family through. Maybe loan shark Veronica's the one in need of a beatdown. Lol at Katheryn going all gangsta on Candace. It would be nice if there was at least one happy couple on this show. Seems like everyone is miserable to varying degrees. Daytime soaps always have a romantic pairing to root for, even when they're momentarily not together. Not sure who that would be on this show. Yo, TP, can you fix that? -
I agree, which is why I couched my opinion with the words, "may have been a factor". Aly clearly already had "issues" when she first returned and apparently has had them for years. The thing is though, IMO what Rick did--aided and abetted by Maya--is pour gasoline on a smouldering emotional fire for no real reason other than because he could. Then the walking Zippo lighter called Steffy showed up and now here we are with Aly aflame and on the verge of turning into a wildfire...Hmm, I think I've tortured that metaphor quite enough. Well, I'll give Rick and Maya some credit. At least they take a more subtle approach than, say, the instigators of the Salem witch trials where women who were considered "different" or somehow vulnerable had to be eliminated. Bullies typically don't directly destroy people; bullies push their victims to such misery that they often end up destroying themselves.

Oh Ivy, what happened to your dignity and self-respect? Stop begging that d-bag for leftovers. Especially not when you're looking as fierce as you have been lately. He's not worthy! I really, really don't like the message the show is sending via crazypants Aly that there aren't valid reasons to dislike Maya. She and Rick are apparently determined not to admit that their bullying may have been a factor in sending Aly over the edge.

And why did they keep it all in one place? You'd think they would have split it up into at least two locations just in case one of them got compromised.

Season 17 Live Feed Discussion: Watch People Sleep All Day!

Or maybe it can be viewed in the context of where Clay lives and the kind of views he likely grew up hearing. I think she's comparable to Victoria in looks and style but beyond that she seems to be basically a mannequin. I don't understand why she and Jeff were brought over to BB. Did they have a huge following on TAR that the BB producers thought would come over to this show? -
Yep, Ballers is basically the same show except it's about football instead of basketball and it's got charismatic eye-candy presence of The Rock. The writers seem to covering the same plot lines as Survivor's Remorse. Ballers looks like it has a bigger budget too but that's probably because Wahlberg's the producer. I think Rob Corddry more than makes up for Dwayne's lack of acting skills. That was hilarious when his character thought he had earned a pass to drop the n-word.

If so, I don't see how there's much difference between being in a triangle and ping-ponging back and forth between two women. If they wanted to, B&B could do a real examination of the polyamorous lifestyle where mutually-consenting adults openly and honestly engage in multi-partner relationships. Instead they come up with this high school-level stuff where greedy, self-designated cool kids justify their waffling by throwing around the words "love" and "destiny" like so much loose change. And that nonsense is built on people whose unduly low self-esteem makes them desperately scrounge for their beloved's scraps. Ugh, indeed.
-
IKR? Do they not all know who her husband is? You'd think the last thing they'd want to do is be overly familiar with the boss' wife. That was my take too. It seems to me though that the only person who'd be believable as having voted for Jace is Austin. What good will it do her to try to pin it on him?
-
Well, I agree that Carter should not be in that scenario. I think he'd better start wearing a bra or in a few years those moobs of his will be flopping around like pancakes. (...older than 18.) If she is younger, I wonder if they'll address all that drinking Wyatt was encouraging her to do when he was trying to find out The Secret. Yeah, no, probably not... Yep, and I think by extension the show is sending a rather pointed "eff you" to many of its viewers. Apparently Maya is completely above criticism now. Not cool, show. Loved Pam and Charlie's outfits but geez, Eric, overdressed much?
-
That's what I was wondering. They should have called him to come calm her down. Maybe he could take her to that medieval castle jousting dinner theater thing that she loves so much. I think Aly is still a virgin or else there would have been several episodes of her dealing with having sex, both before and after. Plus, given all the grief she gave Hope when Hope gave it up to Liam, I imagine it's unlikely Aly would've easily surrendered her strict values. She's apparently the show's spokesperson for abstinence. When she first showed up again she was pre-law or in law school, and she had dropped out. I think she must be in her early 20s even though she dresses like she's a 12-year escapee from one of those secluded fundamentalist cults.

Season 17 Live Feed Discussion: Watch People Sleep All Day!

I think that stuff Jace was saying was borderline racist too, even though he apparently intended it to be complementary. Fetishizing someone because of their ethnicity or cultural background is a form of racism too, IMO. The only thing that surprised me about what Clay was saying (and his slight "ew" demeanor when he said it) was that he spoke it out loud in front of cameras. You'd think he'd remember how his fellow Texas homegirl Aaryn from BB15 got villified. -
Perhaps but I think in the case of Maya, "between the lines" seems to about the distance between Earth and Neptune. Even in a very generous reading, IMO nothing Maya said approached admitting that she did a single thing wrong. Now that's fine if the show wants us to see her (and Rick) as villains but that doesn't appear to be the case. Apparently we're supposed to be completely awestruck by her journey and how graciously she handled being outed in an ugly way by Bill. Never mind all the crap she did while she was ramping up to become Rick's moll and queen of all things Forrester. Or the nasty ways she lorded her status over people, either in support of egomaniacal Rick or simply because she could. Sorry, Bradley B., not buying what you're trying to sell. If I'm supposed to accept her as the show's new heroine, I'm gonna need a least one sentence out of Maya's mouth owning her part in some of the mean stuff that's gone down. She is not completely blameless.
-
I agree. She may calm down once she gets past a couple of evictions.

Yep and it's sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy if she creates the problems herself. It doesn't look like they cast a single stereotypical bigot this year. She may have been counting on that and it enabling her to play the victim. Instead, she has to manufacture the drama. Exactly. It makes you wonder whether she's even watched the show before. It's one thing to try to make alliances with everybody in the house but you need to do it individually or in small groups. She has no finesse. I hope the producers cast her because they knew she'd be a loose canon because otherwise, yeesh. Right. If you wanted to learn how to swim would you jump into a pool full of piranhas? -
Not saying that Caroline didn't do anything wrong. AFAIC, she did plenty. But Maya is no innocent in this saga and I think the least she could do is admit what she did to the people she wronged. It doesn't need to turn into some measuring contest over who's sins are greater but I don't think the show should be trying to pretend that Maya didn't do bad stuff she did. Especially since most of it was largely at other people's expense and for her own benefit. Instead, we've got Rick, Maya, and Caroline making jokes and laughing it all off. Ugh.

The Haves And The Have Nots - General Discussion
Joimiaroxeu replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Haves And The Have Nots
Yeah, that's what I thought before the mid-season break, that maybe he and Landon were in cahoots to pull something over on Candace. After the new episode though, I'm not so sure and am reserving judgment. It appears though that Candy's going to be getting some "sexual healing" courtesy of Oscar. What I don't get is why he woke up naked if all he did was hold and comfort her all night. When she fell into his arms crying the night before he was fully dressed. It makes sense to me that she didn't know what to make of that. Oscar has some weird boundaries, LOL. -
Sigh, this viewer did not get the happy feels from Maya and Caroline's rapprochement. In fact, I think that was quite a tongue bath Caroline gave Maya. She even apologized for what Bill did with his scandal rags. Meanwhile, I don't recall hearing Maya say she was sorry for blowing up Caroline's marriage so she could get Rick back for herself. Or sorry for trying to turn FC and the Forrester mansion into the second of coming of the Palace of Versailles where if the peons were lucky they could have some leftover cake. Oh wait, I don't remember any of that because it didn't happen...Is this the message B&B really wants to send, that Maya's being outed as transgender is her 100%, permanent, get-out-of-jail free card? Today I really struck by how much Nicole looks like a young Vanessa Williams and Zende resembles a young Rick Fox. Good job, B&B. You've created a new romantic pairing that looks like a former real one. Can we hire someone for Ivy who's a dead ringer for a young Richard Burton?

The Haves And The Have Nots - General Discussion
Joimiaroxeu replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Haves And The Have Nots
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Look at Candace and Jeffrey just throwing away fine men left and right. So they're going all in on turning Veronica into the show's psycho villain. I like it. $5,000 bail? For a newly released convict? What a joke. You'd think he'd be getting an express trip back to the penitentiary. Unless Savannah has the worst fire chief ever, it should be pretty clear that what happened at the Harrington mansion was arson. Ronnie poured gasoline all around the bed. The evidence of that has got to look deliberate. Ruh, roh. Celine's going all fatal attraction. Better get a restraining order, Jim. And change the locks. Lawd help me, I'm actually glad this show is back. -
ICAM that it's gross but I also think it would be funny if B&B actually did this. Their new PR slogan could be "Shut up! They're not biologically related!" What a family the Forresters are. In a city of nearly 4 million people, they can't find anyone to date other than their adopted and step-cousins. Pshht, wannabe Lannisters.

Well, she's probably missing at least one of them now. Twitter went in on her at her online Q&A yesterday: http://www.buzzfeed.com/jarrylee/fifty-shades-of-shade
