  1. ICAM. Whenever I've seen this complaint about SNW's Uhura, the subtext seems to be about her hair. Before now I think Uhura wore wigs or weaves or had naturally long(er) hair. But it's hard for me to imagine how the varieties of Black women's hairstyles is still a puzzlement in 2022.
  2. Lol, Pike getting all flustered at first sight of this Alora person. Apparently she turned him out back in day and he did not mind the flashbacks at all. Whoo baby, Pike's body. Solid perfection. πŸ˜› It seems Pike got the male version of dickmatized. I don't understand why he thought he needed to be involved in the ascension ceremony at all. The only thing accomplished IMO was his seeing a way to avoid what he believes is his tragic physical fate. I would call this episode an homage to The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas rather than a ripoff. It probably wasn't intended to be anything close to a faithful retelling. Oh, I think DISCO is plenty dark enough. Constant crises and miseries only Michael can save them from, episode after episode. Realism has a tough time fitting into a scenario where she always has to be the hero and savior. Heh. Truer words. For a musical palate cleanser after this somewhat heavy SNW episode, enjoy Maxwell performing his R&B classic:
  3. Which while morally wrong (at least in the 21st century) it's not necessarily illegal. Still, I'm not condoning the possibility, I just get how it could have happened. At least one major daytime drama in the US has had two key characters created from such a scenario, with the sperm having been deliberately stolen from the place where it had been banked. I guess it'll depend on whether Seth wants to address the issue of consent in artificial insemination and IVF. Given that Claire is a main character, I bet if he does do it the storyline would justify her actions in some way.
  4. Geez, more romantic soap opera with Claire? I don't know about Kelly and Claire snarking on dating Krill. Seemed a bit speciesist to me. πŸ˜‰ "May the force be with you." Hilarious. I really thought Seth would go after one of the ST TV series catchphrases but maybe that would've been too easy. Holy crap, Paul was hella messy telling Isaac that he'd been with Penny too. Space Eskimo brothers? Excellent job on the makeup for Paul after he'd been infected. I had to look away when the camera was on him and that extra eyeball he'd sprouted. Too realistic. And then things went Alien/Aliens, with a bit of Predator on the side. Good to steal from the best I guess. Of course it ended up with Claire having to go nuclear to get rid of that persistent ex who doesn't want to let go. Yep, it's like she was married to a member of the Borg, if that were even possible, ha ha. Which means they could be Paul's kids if Claire somehow had access to his sperm that had been banked for whatever reason. I bet the issue will come up again if/when Paul and his monster crew return in a future episode.
  5. I guess Hader has decided he's just going to take all the awards. Acting, directing, writing, producing. You name it , his name will be on it. He is amazing.
  6. Why is Lily the CEO dressing like a sugar baby again? So unprofessional, unless she has a secret side gig giving old coots the girlfriend experience. 😼 The big C-W launch party is less than a day away and Nate was still pitching major changes to the approach. What the heck? Hey, Crystal's back at the Ghoulish Pacemaker! And she's got lines! You go, girl. πŸ₯³ Billy, time and place. Go handle your business and leave Lily out of it for now. Lily, stop being a dismissive snot. I think you're jealous of Billy's relationship with the mother of his children and you're loath to admit it. I don't get why Elena has to work so much. Is the hospital short-staffed or is she still a resident? Yeesh, Victor and Nikki talking about Victoria like she's a kid despite her being in her 40s now. At this point they have to let her make her own mistakes and learn her own tough lessons. Even if she is behaving like a recalcitrant child. WTAF with Victoria's outfit? Were those streamers hanging from her shoulder? πŸ™€ Sigh, Adam's being set up by his father as a stalking horse to bait his sister. Again. IMO Adam really needs to stop dancing to daddy's tune. I doubt Victor will ever fully trust Adam with the keys to the NE kingdom, under any circumstances. (Somewhat rightfully so but still, ugh.) William, OMG. You never give a woman you're romantically involved with a ring-sized box unless there's an engagement ring in it. You are so dumb but Lily handled it well. Nice job matching your tie to her dress though.
  7. Ew, no. Did you forget how Johnny was concieved? I know they had a bit of a fling once IMO but Billy should not be dealing with Chelsea except to be civil at best. And Billy is a lot of things but he isn't crazypants like her. Chelsea's like a box of chocolates; on any given day you don't know whether she's going to be nutty.
  8. Oh here comes the retcon. Now Victor claims he knew all about Ashland assuming his dead friend's identity and stealing his inheritance. But he said nothing and let Victoria marry Ashland anyway. Sure Jan. Wow, that thin-lipped grimace on Billy's face when Victoria told him she was leaving town with Ashland. "Bish whet?" I don't see how Adam jogs in those weird pants, with his phone slapping up against his leg (amongst other things, heh heh πŸ†). Hammer Time! Oy, Adam. You know Chelsea's kind of extra messed up in the head right now. Do you really want to be manspreading in front of her? Reminding her of what you've got that she can't get and put it in her? Chelsea's blowout was nice today, I thought. I suspect Ashland's gonna wish he hadn't been so lowkey arrogant wrt Victoria, even if Victor is looking like a paper tiger. Locke's acting like Vikki's a contest he just won. How interesting to me the way the writers are now treating Kyle and Summer as contemporaries of Chelsea. Somehow though it seems they're trying to make Chelsea seem younger more than those two as older. So Johnny and Katie are back in GC? I thought they were in boarding school in Europe. Whatever, Victoria has seriously lost her marbles if she thinks Billy would let her take them to live with Ashland. I'm surprised she bothered to give him a heads up because strategically it would have been better to let him know after she and the kids were gone. Ugh, Summer was a straight up C U Next Tuesday to Sally today. Good on Sally for holding it together in the face of Summer's attempt at crushing her ego. That moment will come back to bite Summer, I bet. Diane is good. She deliberately mentioned past bad times with Phyllis in order to provoke Jack, so she could then turn around and tearfully apologize. Jack the simp 100% fell for it. 😐 Does Victor worry Victoria will kill Ashland? I'm thinking that's about the only mistake she could make with Locke that would be irreversible. Lily, you landed on the wrong side of this one. Billy has every right to try to protect his kids and you know it. Shut up before Billy quits you, dumba$$. Got me out here defending that fool... 🀨
  9. Probably not but somebody in the Cannon family better keep current documentation of all the siblings and where they are so when they come of age they don't accidentally date each other. At this point I think Nick Cannon is likely some degree of mentally ill. I don't believe in 'sex addiction" but I do think he's trying to work out some kind of psychological problem via seemingly careless sex.
  10. Victor described Ashland as a user, a liar, and a fraud. Okay, but is he also a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker? If not, then where's the real harm? πŸ˜‰ "Cadaverine." Look at Allie with her fancy schmancy college words. Poor Noah. He might have a hard time keeping up with her intellectually. Lol, Allie tracked Noah down so he could smell the scent on her wrist. And he held her hand ever so delicately while he did it. <sob> It's like something right out of a Jane Austen novel. I'm swooning. πŸ₯° I keep wondering why Abby is never invited to these laying down the law lectures Victoria gives her siblings and parents. Meanwhile, Adam may as well have had a big movie theater box of Raisinets and a jumbo soda the way he was enjoying the flame-throwing. Sounds like Mariah and Tessa visited the Palace of Versailles. Wonder why they didn't mention it by name? Surely there's not a trademark issue. Sharon, you're behind on the hot goss. Victoria and Ashland are back together, FFS. Bleh, Mariah, how do you mess up an Arnold Palmer? Bet when she orders a Shirley Temple, test tubes and Bunsen burners are involved. Giddy Adam is a ton of fun. πŸ₯³ Pshht, New York, Victoria? Those people are going to laugh in your face, especially the uptown socialites. You've got Upper Midwestern nouveau riche trash with money written all over you and it's not going to wash off. Did Victoria go to see Billy to gloat or in hopes that he'd go into rescue mode? Ugh, she is such a drama queen. She has to know Billy will not sit still while she either abandons her kids or brings Ashland closer into their lives. Victor confronting Ashland. Again. Yawn. πŸ™„
  11. Just to make sure, I watched Diane's first scene again, online at the CBS.com site. The dress and bag definitely look pine green to me. Worn on TV isn't listing her outfit today (the dress is kinda frumpy), and neither are two other sites which also reveal where many of the clothes are from. Sigh.
  12. Whoosh, that shot of the sofa went right by me. Thanks for the clarification. But why was Victoria in a robe? If they weren't doing anything then I don't know why she'd need to take off her clothes. πŸ€”
  13. The reunion secksay times between Victoria and her husband must not have been amazing if he was fully dressed and walking around while she was still in bed in her robe. The afterglow = pathetic. Yeah, not sure what to make of Summer's dress. I think it's an off color and fabric for the current season, and frankly the whole bodycon and random bare skin look is her mother's thing. Weird. But well, well, well, lookie here now. Diane was wearing non-black clothing for a change. Was it in honor of Phyllis' absence? She had a matching bag too. πŸ₯³ Jeebus cripes, Victoria has lost her mind. She's only spent most of her adult life working to become the heir to daddy's throne. Now she's going to walk away from NE to run off with Not-So-Slim Shady? Yeesh, please tell me she's running a long con to honeytrap Ashland. Summer and Kyle shouldn't be running their mouths about this Marchetti deal. What if Diane mentions it to Ashland? Then he's got a reason to undermine Jabot in exchange for ending the restraining order. Oh Victor, apparently you don't know Victoria at all. So bluster, such lame. Jack is clueless about Billy's whinecast. Lucky him. He's sure got a clear read on Allie's budding crush, however. Allie couldn't wait to get over to the coffeehouse so she could run into Noah. Tee! Victoria's janky sleeves tho. πŸ™€ Whee, Adam's face when Vikki announced she was leaving. Put him in, coach! He's ready to play! Next up, Victor probably has Victoria arrested on baloney charges to keep her from leaving town. Or he gets Ashland snatched and put on a slow boat to...parts unknown.
  14. Ashland is effing relentless. I almost recoiled in disgust when he sent that text to Victoria. Stalking much? That said, I wonder how much Victoria still actually cares for Ashland versus how much she simply wants to defy Victor and Nikki. Phyllis said she had matured and enlightened. Gotta wonder in what universe that happened because it sure wasn't this one. The Gory Pole is supposed to be a leading boutique hotel and they don't do virtual checkout? If they have Ashland's credit card on file, he should be able to sign off on the bill electronically. The only reason he'd have to go to the front desk is if he disputes any of the charges. When Phyllis started saying she could change I thought, gee, TPTB should have bought the rights to play Bittersweet Symphony under this scene. Using Jack to try to show up Diane was definitely a display of cruel intentions on her part. Diane is getting quite comfortable hanging out in the Abbott manse again. I think she's just bidding her time until Jack gets vulnerable enough to reach out to her for comfort. Comfort between the sheets, lol. I still can't with Ashland and his crocodile tears and and his cracking voice. He plays on Victoria's emotions like a piano virtuoso. Meanwhile, was Jack crying over Phyllis when Traci hugged him? Oy, my guy, you ought to be plumb out of tears for that psycho firecrotch. Let it go before you get dehydrated. 😭 Bleh, Victoria, AFAIC you deserve everything Ashland does to you now since you've pretty much given him permission. It'll be a real life portrayal of the parable of the lady and the snake because for sure he'll betray your trust again. Interesting mention of Daniel. Dare we hope he'll come back for a visit? Phyllis' granddaughter Lucy is about Connor's age now so those two could get into bratty kid stuff.
  15. You misquoted. I didn't make that statement you replied to.
  16. ^^^All of this. I definitely think this current storyline with her and PB and SW is an attempted Emmy grab. It's a shame she has to resort to such pathetic overacting, as if the Emmy voters won't notice if she doesn't come on like a coke-covered wrecking ball. (The nose candy kind of coke, not the pause that refreshes. 😏) If this doesn't end up with Phyllis either in an asylum or another coma, I'll be calling so much b.s. No way should she just be able to wake up one day and go "Bygones" and carry on like nothing happened.
  17. Then I guess I don't understand how transporters work. Do they send you and the things attached to you back in time because otherwise how would the gum get reflavored? Also, it's my understanding that in the short run, gum doesn't lose its flavoring so much as one's tongue becomes "bored" with the taste.
  18. Sigh, I wish I could say I was sad about the cancellation. I gave up on this show about halfway through the second season because it was too hard to watch IMO. Whatever happened in a given episode was likely be reversed in the next one or two episodes, and it seemed to me like the writers were mainly just looking for ways to fill the time. The first season was brilliant with amazing special effects. It was a visually stunning show. After so much promise had been built, season two fell significantly in quality, I think.
  19. Spock's fiancée is a lot. A. Lot. Where fun goes to die. That's our Number One! TMW you're just DTF but the guy wants to DTR first. So is Vulcan soul-sharing the new Vulcan mind meld? T'Pring is not about any of these human hijinks. Unclear how she feels about shenanigans though. Extreme empathy or reverse psychology, Pike? Eh, whatever works. Yeah, Nurse Chapel is feeling a little something for Spock it seems. But she knows she can't go there since he's engaged. Perhaps the light application of a few hijinks would help give him some second thoughts. I didn't understand what Una and La'an were doing with the transporter and chewing gum. Were they expecting the flavor to have changed or not? Seems to me you would not want it to have changed at all, though I guess if you make repeated trips in a row there might be a "copy of a copy of a copy" effect. I know that's right. 😍 SNW still fire.
  20. Well that took a turn. I didn't like the notion of considering Isaac as having been "alive" or "dead." Or that bullying and emotional abuse aren't real problems and but if they are the target just needs to find a way to wait it out. I think the only way time would be the solution to everything is if everyone had an infinite amount of it. The CGI was spectacular though. Fox was selling this show short and Seth did the right thing by leaving them. However, I hope with his new backing he's not planning to turn this into basically another Star Trek show. The tongue-in-cheek, lowkey satirical approach to the Star Trek/Star Wars types of science fiction productions was what initially attracted me to The Orville. Hee. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds would like to have a word. Someone on reddit made what I thought was a valid point that Claire doing double-duty as the ship's psychiatrist/therapist as well as serving as their regular medical doctor doesn't make sense. The ST shows came to understand that those roles are important enough to need two separate people handling them. Especially on a ship with as large and diverse a crew as the Orville.
  21. Yep. I would love it if the owner of Marchetti told Jack, Kyle, and Summer to stuff their takeover bid because she'd already made an as-yet-unpublicized deal with another company. "And BTWs Summer? You're fired because now you've shown that I can't trust you." Then Summer and Kyle would have a definite reason to return to GC because she'd no longer have a job in Milan.
  22. Ehh, I don't know about Summer and Kyle being so all up in their parents' sex lives. Jack needs to find a guy friend he can talk to, and Phyllis needs to seek professional help. Why is the CEO of a major international company opening her own mail? Victoria must have someone who can do that task for her. It's expensive clerical work. Not sure what to make of those sleeves on Nikki's pantsuit. I'd be constantly getting those things caught in closing doors. πŸ₯΄ Pshht, it was way more than PDA, Phyllis. You tried to turn Jack's peen into a hostage situation. Unfortunately for you, Diane knows better than to negotiate with terrorists. I think a good lawyer should know when they're out of their depth. Amanda should not be giving Phyllis romantic advice because she knows Phyllis has been deliberately vague about her history. The last thing Phyllis needs to do is to escalate her battle with Diane over Jack. Diane seemed rather concerned about Allie getting tighter with the Abbotts. She definitely pulled a face at the idea of Allie possibly going to work at Jabot. Hmm. Noah doesn't know the dirt on Diane? That's odd given what a huge impact she had on his father and grandparents back in the day. Guess no one bothered to warn him. Aw, Allie and Noah are already having cute little disagreements. "Opposites attract" is a tried and true romance trope. Yay. πŸ₯° Well, Victor, I think it could be argued one of the reasons Victoria got with Ashland is because she wanted to expand the Newman empire by absorbing Locke Communications. She just wasn't planning on having to keep dealing with him because he was supposed to be dying. Face it, your daughter got duped and all you Newmans got played. "Rules for thee and not for me" is fine until you meet someone like Ashland who operates the same way. Is Ashland finally giving up and getting out of Dodge? Please, please, pretty please! Re the previews: Victoria in a bathrobe in Ashland's room? Nooooo!!!! It must be a dream sequence. 🀨🀨🀨🀨
  23. Harrison was playing with Christian? That can't be good. Christian will either teach Harrison how to get locked in the garage, or Harrison will lock Christian in the garage like Connor did. πŸ˜‰ Hah, ya played ya self, Phyllis. Nobody likes being used, especially in such a publicly humiliating way. Jack's not as dumb or thirsty as you thought. Look at Imani trying to do an end run around Amanda to the boss, Lily. Kinda shady. How many times a day does Allie go to the coffeeshop? The writers need to find more for for her do, I think. This thing Diane and Ashland are doing, trying to disarm people by voluntarily confessing to and apologizing for their sins, seems manipulative to me. Even when their targets see through the move they're still left at a disadvantage. Ehhh. 😐 Wait, what? Harrison doesn't know Diane is Kyle's mommy? So who does he think Diane is, just some random grown-up? And there it is. Diane is now trying to undermine Allie's relationship with the Abbotts. Unbelievable. Noah, come get your girl because she's about to get caught in Diane's spiderweb again. Lol, Imani acting like Nate's personal cheerleader and then basically telling Amanda to mind her own business. She's like a heat-seeking missile and Nate is the surface of the sun. Phyllis admitted she made a mistake. I'm scared.
  24. Amelia might be doing some clout-chasing. Hubby and his twin brother have a production company which has been involved in some well-received films like La La Land and Sicario. Right now they're producing a movie which stars Benicio del Toro, Alicia Silverstone, and Justin Timberlake.
