  1. Fun episode with the physical comedy (the alarm system, the rats nest) some genuine exploration into the situation and emotion, and very little pettiness from the gang.
  2. For what it's worth, I enjoyed this week much more than the premier. In no small part, I'm sure because the half-hour format works better than the hour given the amount of repetition to the jokes. Plus we get more great physical comedy from Beth Behrs in the arm-wrestling scene.
  3. I think Full or Double beds are standard multi-camera sitcom size just due to the size restraints of bedroom sets. I'm pretty sure that's what the other characters have as well, but Jim's size pronounces the difference.
  4. So I'm pretty sure Tina and Jimmy were having drinks Friday night and said "We should go back and do a cameo for election season!" And then they kept drinking right through the actual performance of whatever the hell that was supposed to be. -"Pennsylvania's a battleground state, right? I'll do my Philly accent" -"Oh what if I'm in drag" -"Nah, nah, nah, we don't need any help writing this, we'll just go do it, don't even bother putting it on a cue card" It killed a lot of the momentum of a fantastic Update. Overall liked just about everything else about the show though!
  5. I enjoyed it, and it seemed logical for a bit of a time jump, after the guys got their extension. The 4 contrasting nights was my highlight. I'm a sucker for a dance party.
  6. Does anyone know what type of business they're planning on opening? I wish they had mentioned it at some point in the course of the hour. I'm glad there are folks that liked this episode, but this one came as close to pushing me off the show for good. I say that as someone who really enjoyed the LA arc last season because it focused on what made the show so much fun to start with, the girls' relationship and antics, with each pursuing their own struggle. The return to Brooklyn and the Dessert Bar (sigh) seemed to at least set up a final arc, which I think it can, but this episode was just painful for me. The attempt to go meta with Earl's pill comments and Caroline's, "three years and four businesses ago" line just rang home how much they try to force the same repeated jokes and errors. Then we saw all the same types of business mistakes they've made with all their previous ventures. Won't hire a well qualified employee, because his name will set off heart broken Max (wah wah, dames right?), Caroline gets rightous about her business acumen and can't rectify a simple situation, they assume something will work out for them (the Diner's liquor licence) and don't follow up on that, and then tragedy befalls them but, meh, who cares, "we'll open our restaurant business someday despite our failed launch." That was so frustrating. And then the whole Sophie giving birth made my skin crawl on so many fronts.
  7. Mike Schur continues to shorten his time to success with his shows. I can't think of a comedy in recent memory that has been so dialed in to what it wants to be from the start. Hopefully the high concept doesn't strangle the writers. We're burning through plot at a pretty alarming rate so far.
  8. Nearly a day later and I'm still giggling over "Head Rigger in Charge"
  9. Of course! Thanks. And yes, that would have been much more interesting.
  10. I see Stevens as someone who isn't outwardly prejudiced in his day to day feelings, he obviously has a very good relationship with Dre and Charlie and his old partner. But he is blind to the concept of White Privilege despite the fact that he lives it every day. Basically he hasn't had to confront those types of issues, and thus can be lured in by a lot of the alt-right ideals because his primary concern is his own tax burden. His son definitely seems much more alt-right subscribed though.
  11. I actually liked Martin Short's cameo here. Sometimes he can be too hammy for me, but as a "promotions expert" it actually kind of worked. Andy Daly as the principle is good too. I enjoyed his interactions with the reporter.
  12. I think I would have enjoyed this episode more if we had seen Jess actually trying to enjoy being single for an episode or two first
  13. Was the guy playing Jordan Wahlberg the eldest Kremp, who Erica had actually dated previously before this ridiculous Geoff Schwartz fiasco? I am slyly enjoying the "other Adam Goldberg" digs the show is getting in. Dave Kim vs Muscles Mirsky's advice throughout that exchange was great too. Dave Kim, pick-up artist. I really enjoyed the Murray and Beverly story, it's always nice to see those two interact as a couple. Not to mention their pronunciation of the Mexican food in the restaurant was some good cheap laughs.
  14. That fireworks scene was beautiful coming out of last week's episode. I love how the show can explore these visual mediums, with last week's episode being shot war film style and that scene being almost a music video with all the colour. And the expression of joy on all the "shooters" faces I read was as much about them loving that one of their friends was dealing with his own issues as it was the fun in the moment. I think it showed that they do love each other, for as terrible as they can be. @NorthstarATL , I agree with you about what Lindsey's real issues are, but I can see her character believing the Open Marriage to be her solution, to having the security of Paul with the excitement of being single.
  15. I enjoyed the setup to get Figgis to Fun Zone, that seemed honest and smart, but the actual confrontation felt a bit flat to me. It never felt like there were big stakes at play when he showed up, and Rosa's payoff only lasted a half minute or so, though with a truly excellent joke utilizing the absent Pimento's character. Terry plays dad to the crew was great too, but really eschewed the "You can't go to Florida" ending of last week's episode which was earned. I'm focusing too much on the negative here. I still love the show and the characters. And I give it credit for taking the risk that it did here, but it felt like the highs of the Figgis Serialization were last season with Dennis Haysbert
  16. The final scene of this episode always gets me, the triumphant music playing as the planes take off. Especially on re-watches when you know what lays ahead for these wide-eyed men.
  17. The show is kind of setting up well to put Howard in a Stay-at-Home Dad role, which would be cool. A sort of Fatherhood finally forces him to take responsibility.
  18. The show continues to dial the crazy up to 11, and I continue crank my volume up there too. I really enjoy getting lost in the show for an hour every Monday. The Mad Hatter is going to be a fun add. The promo they did for the show during the commercials with the pop up book was fun too. I hope we don't focus too much on fake Bruce and Selena though.
  19. I was referring to this picture where she's jumping. It's definitely a kangaroo kigurumi (I had to look the term up, though I know I'd heard it before), It looks like she's wearing the same one in the cigar picture
  20. I'm amazed this is Jameela Jamil's first acting credit. Not only is it a sizable get for someone who's media career has excluded acting, but she's really nailing the character!
  21. They should have had Christie knock Bill on his ass after he and Ivanka were "getting acquainted." "The only person who can touch Ivanka is Mr. Trump himself!"
  22. The retired profiler, who turns out to be the big bad... I'm assuming. This whole episode had me laughing. Danny's banter with Steve about their favourite Bonds was good, but I agree that the bickering is tired. More banter, less bicker.
  23. I enjoyed the Church scene even after I could see through the CGI. I thought it was pretty well done for a mid-budget TV Show, and I liked the sentiment. I completely missed how all of the killers tied together though. The very abrupt, "well that's that" after the chase caught me off guard. Wait isn't there more to uncover here? Well, I suppose there is... in the McGarrett home!
  24. Overall really solid. The bumper card with Margot in the Kangaroo jumper was as much fun as anything. I echo that Family Feud feels a bit tired. I thought they nailed it with the Tracy Morgan episode where it was his new family vs his old one. That many celebrity impressions bogs it down. But I'm always higher on unique skits than the impression ones. I think Leslie learned this summer that taking a stand-offish and combative approach to her detractors just makes everyone dig in deeper. The Mr. Robot skit was a great way of sending up the situation while not poking anyone. She'll never be everyone's cup of tea, but this was the best "Featuring Leslie Jones" bit since Black Ninja and the Naked and Afraid bit. I can tell it's going to take some time to try and tell the two new guys apart. It didn't help me that they appeared in a bunch of the same skits together. Darrell really hit the accents in the Melissa's name hard during the intros. It's amazing how much a confident Weekend Update helps everything else.
  25. Shoulda sent Melissa back with her gun.
