  1. Don't bother trying to steer into the skid, just keep skidding everywhere! It is fantastic!
  2. I wasn't expecting Jack's rise to villain to happen so quickly, no matter how truthful so much of what he was saying was. It really calls back to how much Richard has to miss Peter Gregory, the one person who likely shared his vision for product over business. Now he has to deal with the meddling of people like Laurie, Russ, and now Jack. Oh Guilfoyle and Dinesh. Never change. Erlich's silent "Motherfuck" when Jin Yang poured out the water bottle on the floor was fantastic.
  3. Catherine should be the sympathetic one out of this group, but she is the worst! I can't wait for her storyline to cross over with the Chinese Hackers and her raw footage gets leaked. Selina's inability to focus on anything else when the thought of a new sexual conquest piques her interest is always funny. Especially when it comes back to bite her (literally in some instances I'd have to believe!)
  4. Oh no doubt, but my point was that the character somehow served both SHIELD and the Inhumans plans at the same time, for the same reasons, forcing them to square off.
  5. Heh, if my Dad is to be believed he went to High School with Neil. Age and location make sense.
  6. Is this the place to talk about the special? I thought they did a good job with it, and the show kind of addressed the Eric/Erica thing for the first time (really quickly). Jeff talking about how Troy acts Barry based on instinct and how it works was really cool, almost fatherly in and of itself.
  7. Well the show has gone an interesting route in making me come around on Lincoln. Just have Coulson continue to be a dick to him to the point that you have to defend the guy. He is somewhat more interesting now too. Truly though, Lincoln works so much better without Daisy. I enjoy when Fitz and Simmons get to play real spy, though I miss Jemma's overacting the part. So the World's foremost researcher in parasite inoculation is also the world's foremost authority on building super humans? What a coincidence!!!
  8. I don't know a lot of about these types of deals in Silicon Valley. But it would seem to me that they would likely have left Richard as "President" in addition to being CTO, with Jack being the CEO. Richard remains as founder, and the idea man the company is attached to, but there is professional management there. One other little piece I remember liking was Ron setting up this whole "gun" metaphor and then having the payoff be a pistol whip.
  9. I had no clue who the first two people (to introduce his '81 and '89) performances were. I also enjoyed watching Martin. He seemed genuinely awe-struck, which for a guy who is normally hamming it up in front of a camera was great.
  10. The headlamp really sold the "oberserver" part. Especially as it lead into Tandy's dissection of Indecent Proposal.
  11. If I'm remembering the scenes correctly that was Doyle, the current VP, whom she didn't want to run with and went with James instead. He's a lame duck at this point, so nothing to lose. Glad to see they came back guns blazing. Poor Bill, being the patsy for this administration would be a swift kick in the balls. I was a little disappointed she wouldn't be hiring "Red" (now Blonde Candi) from the Wendy's commercials.
  12. Interesting that they went with the call back to the fall out on all the other contracts from the lawsuit. I guess as I read it, all the employment contracts containing the non-compete clause, were rendered null and void. Thus all those Hooli "employees" could either be re-hired with new contracts or simply dismissed. Though I'm not sure how their options returning to the company gives them a ton of money, since the company doesn't pay anything out on options, unless it immediately repurchases the shares on exercise to avoid dilution, and had a reserve set up. At any rate, it appeared that the uptick in the share price came from the news that Nucleus, a bad division, was being shut down. The arbitration wouldn't have been public record, so likely could have been managed from a PR perspective.
  13. So many great one-liners pouring out of this episode Terry: "WHO ARE YOU????" Boyle: "Y'all make a lid!" Holt: "Even with context clues, I fail to understand." Scully: "This is why I became a police officer!" Amy trying to guess at Katherine Heigl's profession from 27 dresses.
  14. Ferguson walking straight into a garbage bin, fantastic. What a sight gag. Jess's "Itotally get that, as much as anyone with two healthy, living parents can" line was among the best humor that's come out of her character since coming back. It wasn't an adorkable set up, or sight gag. It was her reacting to the situation in a Jess way of honesty wriggling its way into her empathy.
  15. The "simple" theme was interesting, as the writers appear to still be figuring out how they need to balance the show. They obviously think highly enough of the audience to run with their complex storyline, but seemed to realize they needed a settling episode. One to give Stu some much needed backing, for some simple jokes and levity, while still acknowledging the bigger arc. The Grinder is definitely an ambitious project. I don't know if it will have the legs to a second season, but I'd be interested to see what they would do with the lessons learned from the second half of their first season, and the security of a full season order.
  16. Swerve! Errr. Sway! Excellent, excellent twist. And some great subtle set-up. Two weeks ago Coulson again calls Daisy Skye, like he has a couple times this year. It serves two purposes, First, reminding the audience of that name, which is the only name Ward and his memories know her by, so Hive naturally refers to her by that name. Second, establishes his surrogate father perception of himself, and setting up how he'll deal with her as an opposing force. Also I loved that Hive's brainwashing wasn't treated the same as Loki's scepter, Fennhoff's hypnosis, or later-Hydra's "Compliance." Daisy's rationalised this for herself. As Hive has basically elevated her "Inhumans are the next stage of evolution" thoughts. There was definite joy behind Daisy's eyes which I think were Chloe Bennett's delight in being able to explore a new part of her character.
  17. Huge props to both Erin Richards and David Mazouz for how far they've come since the first half of the first season. Erin playing Barbara straight was far more compelling than we have previously seen, and the feeling that unhinged Barbara can be right around the corner only adds to that. She even had pants on when at Butch and Tabitha's! Karen was really interesting. Good at heart, but couldn't be trusting given everything she's been through, and also not wanting to drag more people into her issues.
  18. I'm starting to wonder if the live audience reflects the target demographic that is watching at home. I know SNL tickets are insanely difficult to come by, so I wonder how much of the live audience are regular SNL viewers, vs. people who get tickets because they think it's something they "should" do as part of their New York experience. This felt like the third week in a row where the audience simply could not get into the sketches. And I felt this episode was notably better than the last two. The Match.com Alien Date Night sketch was the only one that truly fell flat for me. the other subtle things that were going on at the event had more interest to me than the aliens. Weekend Update was pretty routine with the jokes, no real good riffs or burns, but the jokes hit. One Dimensional Female in a Male Driven Comedy really hit hard this week. I echo the AV club's sentiments and would love to see her get out into some sketch work.
  19. Erica's stubbornness abound! She really is Murray's daughter!
  20. In the, "Who is excited for Avatar 2-5?" Camp, I can safely assume there's James Cameron, and... ummm...
  21. So apparently this is actually happening now. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/cinemacon-james-cameron-announces-four-884060 The Avatar Sequel is coming out in 2018, 9 years after the initial release, then Avat3r in 2020, Av4tar in 2022, and aVatar in 2023 (note all titles are my own). I can't see the big appeal for this. The big selling point on Avatar was that someone had finally figured out how to make 3D really work. The movie itself was pretty meh. Is there enough world building there to make a franchise/cinematic universe?
  22. I find the idea of changing the name so interesting. On one hand I totally understand the argument of how submissive it is to change your name to someone else's. On the other if you're married and will be starting a family together I get the appeal of changing everyone in that family unit having the same name. And hyphenating either your name, or your children's has to lead to some issue down the road, right? What's the name of your child when Thomas Smith-Walker marries Stephanie Chang-Stewart?
  23. Adam Arkin to play the "cool" senior. Of course. The guy just oozes cool.
  24. I don't know that this is fully resolved, yet. I think there's still a case to be made that while he didn't consult his client, Dean Sr. acted in his best interest at the time, and there's the manner of who is feeding the client the legal information to proceed with the trial. Considering he was played by one of the Lucas twins, I'm guessing there's some twin hijinks coming.
  25. Yes, there were definitely ways to deal with Giyara. Namely a sack over his head until they devised something more inhibiting. I dislike it when capable people don't do capable things in order to advance the plot. Call it, Jurassic World syndrome. I actually didn't mind Lincoln in the first time in forever. He finally seemed to have some edge to him, and not "I'm a bad ass lone wolf" edge. I am interested to see what Davy Jones, err Hive's ultimate plans are, and what it means for Brett Dalton. I'm looking forward to Civil War, but really hoping the plot here doesn't stall out while we wait for the movie.
