Like Sand Through an Hourglass: Behind the Scenes of DOOL
Rick Kitchen replied to OnceSane's topic in Days Of Our Lives
I accidentally posted the link to the Guy Wilson interview in the Salem International thread, sorry about that. To me, the most interesting thing in the interview was that he had auditioned for Will before they cast Chandler, and that he had also auditioned for Sonny and Ben. But a network executive vetoed his being cast as Sonny after Chandler was Will, because they thought he looked too much like Chandler (I just can't imagine him as Sonny). He also said that after Freddie Smith had been cast, Freddie came up to him at the gym and introduced himself. He also thought the writing of bitchy Will was bad. -
Salem International: Casting Notes: Arrivals & Departures

Whoops, I meant to post that in the behind the scenes thread. -
You consider spinach kids' food? :D

He's one of the voice actors of the video game "Until Dawn", and they very closely drew his character to look like him. There are a lot of videos of people playing the game on YouTube, if you're interested. Warning, it's pretty scary.

AfterBuzz interview with Guy Wilson: -
Music Circus always does a kid-friendly show every summer, and this was this year's. I forgot to mention that there were 9 local kids in the ensemble.

Today's Sacramento Music Circus offering was Seussical. I knew very little about it, but I was thoroughly entertained. There were some good songs, and some very good performances. The Cat in the Hat - Jason Graae - http://www.broadwayworld.com/people/Jason-Graae/ Sour Kangaroo - Sharon Wilkins (who originated the role on Broadway) - http://www.broadwayworld.com/people/Sharon-Wilkins/ Horton the Elephant - John Treacy Egan - http://www.broadwayworld.com/people/John-Treacy-Egan/ (He had a great voice, and with Graae, starred). Gertrude McFuzz - Bets Malone - http://www.broadwayworld.com/people/Bets-Malone/ Mayzie LaBird - Ginifer King - http://www.broadwayworld.com/people/Ginifer-King/ Jojo was played by a local 11-year-old, Josh Davis, who played Michael Darling in last year's Peter Pan, and has done the national tour of A Christmas Story. He was very good.

When I was stationed in Germany with the Air Force, I was friends with a few German airmen who were stationed there, and they used to make fun of their colleagues from southern Germany for talking funny. Even in western Germany, where I was stationed, the German they spoke there was different from the standard German I was taught in high school.

Where can I find Extra Slice? I meant, for the Showstoppers.

And ... I don't really understand what just happened at the end of the Giants game. Casilla balked in the winning run. But, he kind of started to throw the pitch, then ran halfway to the plate before he released the ball, between the batter's legs.

I love how they get right into the competition, with no messing around. OK, as a guy who really hates cheese, too much cheese in the quick breads! Contestant Paul said he liked the taste and the flavor of his ingredients. :D Waiting for the breads to cook forever in the oven must be nervewracking. I really wanted to try Ugne's chocolate bread. I love that they said it wasn't too sweet. Paul and Mary went off to a Morris dancing class? OMG. Wait a minute, those ovens have proving doors and proving settings? How much do those things, with their retractable doors, cost??? I have to wonder what the "room temperature" is in those tents, though. I like that the technical challenge allowed them to bring recipes with them. I had to look up saag aloo. It's a spicy spinach and potato dish. Oh, no, not truffle oil! Gordon Ramsay would have a stroke. With everybody who was having trouble unmolding their sculptures, couldn't they have greased the molds? I wouldn't trust Sue to touch my sculpture, let alone help me to carry it up for judging. I love how contestant Paul blushes when he gets praise. Ian is rapidly becoming my favorite.

I attended a lot of the Los Angeles events in 1984. My favorite was being in the stands when the US Men's team won the gold in team gymnastics. Though they never bothered to show the team totals during the whole event so we didn't know who had won till the teams came out for the medals ceremony. I was working in El Segundo when the torch relay ran by, and took a long lunch so I could go down to the ocean to see the torch go by.

In San Diego, at the Giants/Padres game, there are two guys in the stands wearing Giants black and orange. Their shirts say "Drunk One" and "Drunk Two".

There is a TV series coming up called "Powerless", about the non-superhero people who have to clean up after a Superhero battle destroys the city. It stars multi-ethnic actress Vandessa Hudgens, half-Indian actor Danny Pudi, and a bunch of white people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerless_(TV_series)

I love that movie. Very depressing, of course, but with some hope. And the camera work is superb.

Nate Thurmond has died. He was always my favorite player, growing up as a Warriors fan.

I'm listening to "11 Blocks" by Wrabel. The guy is obsessed, but the song is good.

I really enjoyed it, and McKinnon was definitely my favorite part. Although all of the stars brought something to the show. Enjoyed all of the cameos, and even the bit players like the haunted house tour guide and delivery guy Benny were fun (Karan Soni was the cab driver in Deadpool, he needs bigger roles). Chris Hemsworth looked like he was having loads of fun. And the after-credits scene really set up a sequel, didn't it?
