I just saw a clip of WWHL and a caller asked Heather if she thought Tamara had been manipulating her the last three years. Both Terry and Heather said Tamara was a straight shooter and could not imagine why she would lie for no reason. They were acting as if there was no evidence of Tamara's dishonesty. Since this is Dr. Dubrow's fourth reality show, you think he would be much better at the game.
-
The reason Terry did not call out Eddie, is because Terry was lying. He said he was not angry about "the take the Beadors down comment" at Lizzie's dinner party, but because David dare say something vulgar around his kids and his precious 80 year old mother at the hoedown/ground breaking party. The truth was Terry never heard these comments himself but someone (either production or Tamara) told him about it much later. He thought he was going to come off as the manly protector of women/children and David would look like a neanderthal. The Dubrows also lost any credibility by trusting Tamara implicitly, even though she is a black hole of deception, but ragging Shannon on the smallest of things and never accepting any of her apologies (and she made many attempts to mend broken fences). They said they are above gossip, but we saw them gossiping behind everyone's back and taking Tamara's word (who even Vick knows can not be trusted) as gospel. They actually came off as pretentious fools. Heather, we do not care you have a chef. It was that some of the foodies on the board were a little taken aback about you family being in awe of fairly simple dishes. However, if Miss Terry has to ask if pink fish is salmon at Lizzie's dinner party, maybe you guys are not gourmands. I will remember never to hand you an open menu. We also do not care if you have rescue dogs or dogs from a breeders...it is you who made a big deal about it. I think Heather has gone the reality tv victim route of anyone who does not like her is jealous of her wealth. Maybe her best friend Tamara can guide her on how to deal with all the "haters".

I agree that 50.000 square feet is a hotel, not a house. However, this huge property was the outlier... most of the people who wanted to downsize had mansions closer in size to the Dubrows new build. I wonder after the reality show gravy train runs out, will they wish they opted for something smaller.

S06.E06: The Family Business
qtpye replied to featherhead's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
Yet practically every scene with his family, they are pimping his shady mortgage company. Yes, I am sure when the show was filming that embarrassing commercial it was about Amber's amazing acting and not you (rolls eyes). As some posters up thread mentioned, even when they are baking cookies they are talking about dollar signs (literally) and trying to relate it back to his company. Also, he alludes to never having watched the show, however, it seems to have been the "dream" for his wife and best friend. What a wonderful husband and friend he is that he goes on a show that he knows nothing about (this includes doing talking heads) just to be supportive. Jimmy is quite the selfless guy. -
Flipping The Block - General Discussion
qtpye replied to David T. Cole's topic in Flipping The Block
I usually like David and I know he is a talented artist. However, I thought the paintings he did added nothing to the room. It looked like he did not even try to come up with something decent. I felt there was something very disjointed and wonky about this challenge. If you want to add the most resale value to a space, you keep it very neutral and do nothing very taste specific. If you are designing for a magazine spread, you want unique design elements that attract the reader's eye. So, it is a little difficult to do both successfully, though not impossible. I think the sisters were designing for the magazine shoot (not to mention trying to show their personality, groan) and that is what did them in. I was surprised they did not finish, but handling the carpentry themselves cost them valuable time. -
There is no way Terry is going to give up the chance to show off his "masterpiece". It's funny, I just read an article about wealthy people who built very large homes (some up to 50.000 square feet) and how they ended up regretting the decision. It seems the constant maintenance required to keep up such a grand estate means you practically have no privacy. Does anyone know if Terry's show is considered bigger then the Housewives franchises? I sometimes do wonder how the Dubrows keep up their lifestyle, but I have really never heard of any financial problems thus far.

S06.E06: The Family Business

Melissa is going to have an edge in sales, because the guys are going to be drooling over her? I hate to burst Joe Go's bubble, but a lot of people in sales are physically attractive (men and women) and actually very knowledgeable about their product (imagine that). I have a friend in sales and not only is she naturally very charismatic, but has an engineering degree from a top ten engineering school. Does Joe Go ever realize that his wife is worth more than her physical appearance? From what people tell me about her book, I guess not. Did anyone hear Nicole say that after her divorce she now has to earn money like a man? I hope I misheard this, as I was half asleep while watching this show. If she did say this....does she not know nowadays many women also earn money? She was so over her job (jet broker?) and you could tell she thought she was going to be a big star because of the show, so she no longer needs to earn money "like a man". -
Trials and Tribulations of Juicy and Tre...
qtpye replied to Stinger97's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
I remember during the last reunion, how much respect everyone seemed to have for Joe Giu. Even Teresa's family (including Joe Go) were giving him a lot of props, when they seemed barely able to tolerate Teresa. I think they all thought at that time that Joe was going to take all the heat and Teresa was going to live scot free in her marble mansion, even though she had been complicit in most of the schemes. I think they also all blamed Teresa (fairly or unfairly) for the over the top life style. I believe they had a plan that Joe would go to jail and Teresa would make millions off the show and various business ventures....then they would just resume the lifestyle when he was let out. I think they are that simple minded. I think Gia might grow up to be pretty, in an exotic type of way, and the two younger ones have the potential to be beauties (thanks to Joe's genes). I sometimes wonder if Milania acts out not just for the attention, but she feels like the least attractive out of the girls. I hate to say this but when there is a family of sisters, people are always comparing who is the prettiest, etc. It can lead to some very unhealthy competition. I hope Teresa is smart enough to put a stop to this type of negativity (somehow, I doubt it). -
Thank you guys for the information. I wonder if he applied any of that money to the mortgage or wasted it on his poseur fronting? I know If I had a windfall of money I would apply it to my debt, which is mostly my mortgage (though I borrowed much more responsibly then Banker Jimmy).

I wonder how much of that whistle blower money is left and if they are in financial trouble? That could be the main reason for doing the show.

S06.E04: A Hairy Situation

When one of the twins made the comment about how Dina should have gone shopping with them so she would have a sexy outfit instead of her scrubs, obviously does not own a mirror. The outfits all of them wore looked so cheap. You find the exact same type of stuff at Party City. They would be appropriate for a lower end frat party, not an adult gathering that was supposed to honor first responders. -
Melissa Gorga: Sexy Life, Loyal Wife
qtpye replied to Stinger97's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
I think the Gorgas expect to bank on Melissa's fame off the show. Teresa was very successful with her ventures and they think Mel will replicate Teresa's pre indictment success. I guess only time will tell if they are gambling on the right horse -
A thousand times yes. That picture would put anyone on Tyra or Heidi's Next Top Model Competitions to shame.

S09.E16: Bali Highs and Lows
qtpye replied to PhilMarlowe2's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
I remember when we were first introduced to Lizzie and she said she was not satisfied with their sex life. She and Christian were playing with the kids and Lizzie tells Christian that she wants him to to take her over the kitchen counter tops ( or something like that) and he looked at her like she was crazy. At that time, I thought it was perfectly normal, because who talks like that to their spouse in front of their children and a roomful of production people? I now think they might have serious sexual issues. I would imagine that for someone like Lizzie, her desirability is a large part of her self image, and having a husband who does not seem that physically into her is a little devastating. That being said, there is no excuse for the way she spoke to him on the party bus. I wonder if the poster who said that he might have married her for her money, might be on to something. If they come on another season, these issues mighty be at the forefront because nothing is sacred on this show (however I might not feel comfortable watching it). I do wonder if they will be open with their problems like Shannon or pretend everything is fine and the editing made them look bad (like Teresa Gui from Jersey or Sonya from New York). I though Lizzie was going to bring it confronting Tamara, but instead she came off a little foolish. Do not get mad about others talking about your dress if you yourself text about exposing your vagina. I do hope Tams does get taken down eventually. -
I think I read somewhere that people think that vocal fry makes a woman sound important and sexy. The tone is supposed girlish, but the tired sounding fry gives the allusion the woman has a lot going on in her life. I thought this was ridiculous and still find it annoying. I just saw this episode. I thought the lady was attractive and I think the show ended with a lot of her male neighbors doing many favors for her, like installing her ceiling fans. It is interesting the way white cabinets were very in during the nineties and then they became dated and now seem popular again. I do not think I have ever seen a design trend go in and out like that.
-
There has been some speculation that the reclusive woman living in the Fiske Observatory is actually Joe's mother. Maybe she faked her own death or Joe was lied to again. However, since it is unlikely that there will be a second season, we will probably never know for sure.
-
Do you guys think Joe's mother is going to push him off the roof of the Fiske Observatory when she finds out how annoying he has become? I guess at least they can look at the stars... The interaction between Donna and Cameron would keep on board for another season.

When I saw the show, the pre-nup seemed very one sided. I do not think Kandi needs to be loose with her money, but dang if it seemed like she did not care about him at all. However, I think what Kandi plans is to make Todd a major part of her production company and he will benefit by the marriage by being able to bank on her connections and resources. Todd will still take an independent assignment here or there, but will probably eventually start working full time for Kandi's multiple businesses in some capacity. I have seen this happen many times when a much wealthier spouse has somewhat of an empire. Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons marriage comes to mind (they are divorced now). She was able to start her Baby Phat line of his Phat Farm brand( I think...do not remember clearly, because it seems like a long time ago). I am not saying that Kandi is Russell Simmons or she is obligated to help Todd with his career, but if they do get divorced, he could still probably walk away in an overall better financial position then what he was before the marriage. Some people will have problems with this (Joyce) because they believe a man should provide independently of his wife.

S06.E21: Reunion Part 1
qtpye replied to LotusFlower's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I think Sonya's lifeline is that she birthed a Morgan. This will forever tie her to American royalty. Even though she will probably lose the parking garage town house, I think her ex will step in before she is totally ruined. He will probably put her up in a measly million dollar apartment in Manhattan. She will no longer be living the lavish life style of her peak years with the old man, but she will be comfortable by regular people standards. I think she sincerely believes this and uses the new age positive thinking tropes to will this to come about. I guess time will tell if she is correct. -
That video was so disturbing. It was like he and the camera man had a dom/sub S&M thing going on. I expected Lenny to start screaming "you will like my brisket and then lick sweet corn from my body!" Why in the world would you post that on you tube?

Flipping The Block - General Discussion
qtpye replied to David T. Cole's topic in Flipping The Block
I agree that the outcome had to be rigged, because there is no way misplaced plumbing fixtures and bad tiling are worse then lack of scented candles and a shower curtain. The bump out the married couple did was smart, but all the costly mistakes they made would negated that value wise. Other posters have already astutely pointed out the cost of plumbing and redoing the tile would cancel out the convenience of the double vanities. Amanda might be a nice person, but she has some of the worst hair I have ever seen on tv. Can the posters who are more knowledgeable about hair then I am tell me if that is her real hair or a weave? It looks like she glued a giant haystack to her head. It also does nothing for her as it makes her face look too square. I have never done renovations in my life, but when I buy furniture I measure thoroughly to make sure it fits in the space and is the right scale for the room. That the brothers are professional contractors and made such an amateur mistake was rather shocking. -
I had already posted the on the Hunt thread, but I find it refreshing that the writers have men use their good looks and charm to get what they want. Usually in tv land only attractive women stoop to such behavior. That being said, even if you took the flirting out the equation, Hunt was supposed to be an old family friend that Donna knew from high school. Hunt was shrewd enough to figure out what a shitty husband Gordon was (probably all of Texas knows this by now) and gave Donna the validation that she craved. The betrayal had to hurt on many levels.

So you do not want Cameron to be a manic pixie dream girl? I guess I do not complement the writers a whole lot (though, I thought the last episode was pretty good), but thank god they did not model Cameron on this overdone trope. Heck, I guess Joe is more apt to fit the description of manic pixie dream boy (maybe he wants to be like his mother).

Hey Phae, how is having a "huzzzzbin" working out for you now? The man kicks you to the curb as soon as you stop financially supporting him.
