Married At First Sight: The First Year
qtpye replied to Primetimer's topic in Married At First Sight
I think the psychology of Jamie is very interesting. She is a person desperate for a mother figure and a people pleaser. I think she looks at the experts like a community mother. They gave her the advice and guidance that she never had in life and if they say Doug is right for her, then she is going to make it work. I wonder if her baby fever is because she thinks the baby is going to fill that void in her. I think it was a poor decision for her to get married before she resolved the problems with her past. However, I think Doug can be the guy to help her get over the trust issues. I just hope she truly loves him and is not just staying with him because this would please the "experts". Another, not so nice part of me thinks she understands the reality show game and knows a baby is a good way to prolong their fifteen minutes. I hope this does not end with with pregnancy announcement and then a third show Married at First Sight: Getting ready for baby. Courtney and Jason really have hit the jackpot in that they truly seem to love and care for each other. My husband actually said that meeting Courtney probably allowed Jason's mother to spend the the last moments of her life in peace. I think they are doing this show for the money and perhaps to promote their side careers as wrestler and makeup artist/cabaret performer. Sometimes their scenes feel so intimate (like Jason talking about his mother) I fell bad for watching. -
It probably does not help that our media often tells us that if you are good looking certain things will be handed to you. Marnie knows she is pretty and smart enough to graduate from a good school...so why is her life not more like Rory Gilmore or Joey Potter? Why is there not a line of great looking, successful, and rich guys that are trying to date her? Why is that every woman she meets is not dying to be her best friend? She was also probably a little spoiled by having a boyfriend who adored her in college and a best friend she could feel superior to. In all fairness, I think Hanna also feels superior to Marnie, but for different reasons. The character is interesting, but it is time for her to show a little growth. No Marnie, just being one of the prettiest girls in the class with a degree from a good college is not enough to set the world on fire. I think she is so uncomfortable because she has a very rigid idea of what a good life is and her reality is falling way short of her ideals...therefore she has no idea how "to fix it". As far as friends go...does it ever seem like Hanna would gladly throw over Marni in a second if Jessa would commit to being her best friend? Of course, Jessa is smart enough to leave Hanna always wanting more. Jessa is much more successful then Marnie in using her looks and charm to get what she wants. The problem is Jessa has a self destructive streak that will sabotage any happiness or stability she comes across. We learned last season that this has a lot to do with feeling emotionally abandoned by her parents.

Plus, Greg does know slavery has ended because he probably remembers driving the Underground Railroad with Harriet Tubman (history according to Porsha). Note to Phaedra...a fake relationship with Roger Bob is still a step up from a real relationship with Apollo and I don't even like Roger Bob. That was one of the best reads I have ever witnessed. I think Claudia was shading Nene's looks not her age. Truthfully, I would have never guessed that they are near the same age, as Claudia looks so young and fresh (even with those jacked up feet). Nene could probably pass for Claudia's mother and no one would blink an eye.

Trials and Tribulations of Juicy and Tre...
qtpye replied to Stinger97's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
It is being reported that she is getting out a little earlier then expected...around February of next year. -
Demetria's response was as sad and pathetic as her video release party... that Roger Bobb, as her manager and supposed boyfriend, did not bother to attend. Please girl, you are not even his favorite client, forget about future wife material Also, does she really believe that everyone is after Roger Bobb because he is a mogul on the same level as Jay-Z? Where was all this sass when she fled from the party almost in tears? Luckily she will have Roger Bobb's exquisite D to comfort her. Edited to add: Did you guys notice how quiet Roger Bobb is being? I have not noticed any responses from him confirming that Demetria and him are in an exclusive relationship. Did I see that next week, Nene thinks Claudia is jealous because she is married to Greg? I hate how this show makes it seem like married and single women are enemies. I would rather be single then married to an Apollo or Peter (or Greg, for that matter, who I think cheated on his former wife to be with stripper Nene).

I understand what you were saying and I actually liked the dock workers. I also liked the Sobatkas and that included poor doomed doofus, Ziggy. It is just that it seemed that someone like Nicco would have many options available. Of course, I do not know the specifics of his situation and many people with much more privilege have done some horrible crimes, so that might not be a factor. He could have just gotten addicted to the easy money and felt the risks were minimum since his uncle controlled the docks. Its just that when Nicco realized that the docks would no longer provide the type of life it did during his father's generation, I wish we would have seen him try some legal alternatives before jumping head first in the drug trade. What do you guys thing about when Nicco and Ziggy looking up the chemicals the Greeks wanted on the library internet? Do you think it is realistic that a guy NIcco's age would have never done an internet search in 2003?

Married At First Sight: The First Year

I saw the commercial and it also stopped my dvr fast forwarding in its tracks. It seemed like Jason and Courtney were acting more or less normal, while Doug and Jaimie were acting a little too cutesy for the cameras. I do like both couples and hope they make it. Heck, I even liked Vaughn and Monet and hope they are both doing well, separately. A little update on them would be nice. -
When Josh said he knew Jay would have an ugly tattoo as soon as he started taking pictures of the canvas's face and body for the pin up...I really hope he was knocking Jay's skills and not the lady's appearance. It is really not cool to make fun of the way a client looks ( I am going to give him credit and say he was talking about his opponent's abilities). I think we all agree that we never want to see these four people on our television screens ever again. The Christmas special was so good and this was a load of @#&%. Instead of bringing back horrible personalities they should do an Ink Master all stars with only the winners of the previous seasons, so we could actually see some nice tattoos.

I have heard several people say that this season did not touch them the way the first season did because of the characters. I think the flaw was the Sobatka family. Their actions never made sense to me. I know the death of the American blue collar worker is a tragedy, but it is not unique. There are many college educated people out there who's jobs are dying and now have to start over after years of education and training (not to mention in debt from student loans). It is nice that the dock workers came from families where the males were guaranteed a good paying jobs, but they were lucky to have this privilege. How many of us had to sweat and clumsily figure out what we wanted to do in this world and make sure that our desires were a viable means to make a living (which often it is not)? As I said, the Sobatkas were never sympathetic in the same manner as the drug dealers. The project kids are born into a cycle of poverty, racism, and violence that is hard to escape. This does not excuse them from their horrible actions, but makes it a bit more understandable to why they choose this world. In contrast, Nicco and Ziggy chose to go into something that had been slowly dying for well over a decade. Nicco had potential he could have learned a trade ( I hear plumbers and carpenters make very good money) or have gone to community college. Yet, he stubbornly hangs on to the Union even though he has to resort to drug dealing in order to have financial independence. Ziggy is a self destructive moron with no impulse control. I always wondered if he had some fetal alcohol poisoning disorder. Sadly, I think Ziggy should have gone into show business since he would go above and beyond to put on a good show (like buying diamonds for a duck). However, I do think he would have eventually imploded no matter what career path he chose. Then we come to Frank. Here is a man who will do anything to make sure his precious Union lives another day. He is the most sympathetic, but he is fighting a hopeless battle and his decisions will probably taint the Union's reputation for years to come. In the end the Sobatkas problems stem from an unwillingness to change with the world. They are like horse carriage makers in the days that the automobile was becoming popular. It is truly unfair the way technology and global politics is killing many blue and white collar jobs. However, most of us have no choice but to go with the tide and make the necessary adjustments and continue with our lives, without getting involved in illegal machination we can not understand or control.

It was like a technically proficient but boring tattooer (Josh), a mediocre guy who can be very inconsistent (Jay), and two people who really need to look for a another line of work. It was one of the ugliest tattoos I have seen in my life and considering I watch Ink Master, that is saying a lot. It looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger in drag and he threw in a couple of sad looking streamer for effect. Instead of worrying about convincing Josh's canvas not to change her placement...maybe he should have focused on doing a tattoo that was actually attractive.

S07.E08: Tea With A Side Of Squashed Beef
qtpye replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
When they flashed back to Cynthia and Nene looking at art, I almost gasped. Cynthia was amazingly stunning and her cool laid back style with the short hair put all the other ladies, with their ten pounds of weave and makeup, to shame. She was one of the most beautiful women in all the franchises and all of it was natural. Also, I have noticed that Cynthia never bragged about her beauty (she never needed to, it was there for all to behold) and now she seems to be trying to put on the false bravado (which does not suit her the way it suits Nene). I cringe when she talks about how she stepped up her style game wearing that horrible blonde monstrosity. Obviously, we all grow older and it is not unusual to gain weight as we do. However, I do not think it is the weight itself that is the problem. As the previous poster stated, she is far from fat. It is that she does not understand her body and whoever is styling her is giving her horrible advice. I think her face is looking off is due more to the botox then the weight gain. She looked young for her age, so I have no idea why the hell she thought she needed the stuff. Somebody probably told her she looked tired around the eyes and she probably freaked out. I am sorry Cynthia, but tomboy Claudia looked fantastic this episode and nothing in your look was working for you. You need to burn that blond hair and then seriously do some inventory with you wardrobe. -
I agree with everyone that this was surprisingly good. I bet Sausage thought he would come in and walk away with it all. Even though Baby's did not have a good tattoo, hers was much more challenging, while Sausage's was as basic as you could get. I understand he thought it would not be manly for a guy to have a lot of decoration, but he still could have done something creative with it, and at the end it still looked like a garter...so his "simplicity" really added nothing.

Tiny House Hunters - General Discussion
qtpye replied to Fabricationary's topic in Tiny House Hunters
I am certainly not one who thinks everything has to be shiny and new, but usually people renovate houses because they are well built and have good bones. This house just seemed so cheap and flimsy. I also could not understand their reasoning. They thought their original larger, but not gigantic home was keeping the family from bonding, because everyone had their own room? Are they trying to force their close to teenage daughters to spend time with them because they have no escape in the small area? Also, not only will the children have to get used to a much smaller home, but they will also be moving across the country. That seems like an awful lot of change for a whim. It seems like it would of been much easier to do a family game night or something to that affect. I loved their snarky realtor who obviously though they were crazy. Their two year old twins were adorable, though. -
Phaedra Parks: Undertaker, Esq.

I agree ghoulina, there is no problem enjoying relations once in a while, but there is no way in hell that Apollo is "huzzbin" material. I have a feeling that he is mediocre father material at beast and I thought this before he plead guilty to any crimes. You better make sure you are totally protected from pregnancy and disease before you go enjoy another frolicking night on the air mattress (in the projects, no less). -

In the Manciano, Italy episode, did the designer seem to secretly loathe Aussie gal to anyone else? I felt like she was thinking how did this woman nab such a local cutie. -
Sorry...I mixed up two bad episodes... "D'OH"!

As someone mentioned up thread, I hated the way the family was like "well you have to make up with your mama..." Do you think if a spouse or friend treated Kandi the way MJ treats her, that her family would want her to continue that relationship? Remember, MJ started cursing Kandi out as soon as she saw her because Kandi dared complain about what MJ's boyfriend had done to her house. I think the family is afraid if Kandi cuts off her mother then the rest of the family would get cut off as well and no longer have access to Kandi's money. Even though Kandi is frugal with her money, she seem quiet generous when it comes to her family. I do not think anyone has her best interest at heart. Who the hell is Roger Bob and why does he have two first names? I did not realize that cutting two holes in a tent was the next designer trend. Also, that "Cold Shoulder" top was doing horrible things to her body. She looked shapeless, when she was sitting down, and it made the models look weird and shapeless as well. That video party was one of the saddest things I have ever seen in my life. Demetria is not a bad looking girl, but her outfit was painful (perhaps Nene's designer made it). Honey, if you had of just sent everyone an email link of your video on you tube it would have been a much better promotion (not to mention the thing would have probably worked). Didn't Chris Rock say something to the effect if a man has been dating you for more than six months and you have not met any of his friends or family...then you are NOT his girlfriend?

S07.E06: Make-ups and Breakdowns
qtpye replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
I think one of the problems is that Kandi enables her mother with her money. If Kandi had regular people money and was not a millionaire, people would not put up with her mother's nasty behavior. Kandi's mother causes problems with her in law and ruins many of Kandi's wedding pictures with her scowling face. She totally disrespects the home Kandi loved and gave to her by letting her boyfriend rip it apart. So what is Kandi's reaction to this blatant disrespect...buy her a huge mansion. In all these scenarios the main person being hurt is Kandi, not Todd or Sharon (rip). Kandi has the right to do whatever she likes with her money and she has created a monster with her mother. However, we the viewers have the right to be disgusted at Joyce's behavior and Kandi's attitude towards all who dare disrespect her mother. CaughtOnTape, I see you have made many of my points (darn having to work), so I will just leave it at what I said. Edited to add: Don't forget that when she attacked Kandi's friend how she lied and claimed the friend started the altercation. I guess she forgot about the cameras. -

qtpye replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
Also I believe that Joyce will use Kandi's deep pockets to make sure any man in her life is happy. No way in hell is Joyce going to end up alone. She will brag about how she can "keep a man" and make fun of Kandi for being single. I can't help but wonder if the new house is because the boyfriend is complaining about living in a home that they ripped apart and now wants something more in line with the lifestyle Joyce "is accustomed to". -
Just Google "Japanese Pin-up" and behold the huge variety of beautiful and cool imagery. I am beginning to think Jason's expertise in Japanese extends to having seen a couple of Godzilla movies. Make did himself no favors coming on this show. His many years of tattooing expertise was not apparent and he often came off delusional. Cleen showed five seconds of humanity when he said that good things did not often happen to guys like him. Of course that did not last.

At this point I would not be surprised if magical gold fairies (that looked suspiciously looked like the Dodge brothers) came out of the sky riding rainbow unicorns every time the narrator says "how will (fill in the blank) get more gold". It would make just as much sense as what is going on now.

S06.E10: Kitchen Safe, Off the Cob, Magic Cook, Earth-Log
qtpye replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank
The Go Pro guy was by far the prettiest shark to ever come on the show. That being said, I feel that he was trying to hard to be the friendly hip young one. I actually see him practicing his facial expressions into a mirror before coming on to the show. He might get better if he does more shows...learns to get comfortable and not be so "on" all the time. -
S04.E04: Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve
qtpye replied to yeswedo's topic in Project Runway All Stars
Is anyone else having an issue imagining Zale's very mainstream pendant lying across Helen's tattoo of scissors being stabbed through her neck? It just feels like two things that should never go together. I have an aunt who wore almost an exact replica of Helen's dress to a wedding in the nineties. The only difference were the sleeves were more flattering, and the dress was in a hunter green color. So in short, I had no idea what they were talking about Helen's dress being innovative. -
"What a surprise!", says no one. Does anybody know what happened?
