  1. They need to stop with these awful wigs, or go hire whomever did the wigs for Alias. No one rocked a wig like Sydney Bristow & Co.
  2. Here's what I'm hoping happens... James & Meg go up, James wins veto. Vanessa tells Austin he has to be the "pawn" this week to ensure Meg goes home. Reason? Because he's never been on the block. Besides, he'll have the votes to stay, even if JMac votes with James to keep Vanessa, because Liz, Julia & Steve will vote to keep Austin. Then, when it comes time for the vote, Steve flips to keep Meg because he's still super-pissed at Austin for putting him up on the block this past week when he said he did not want to go at all. Voila, Austin's out and Vanessa has no blood on her hands with the twins, or even with Austin. Meanwhile, she's built a further bridge with James & Meg, so they won't be interested in going after her during the DE but instead focused on getting out one of the remaining twins.
  3. This popped up on my FB feed yesterday... https://www.facebook.com/FGLeader?fref=ts- A couple of articles and several pics. They're currently filming in Forest Grove, Oregon which is the far western outer reaches of the Portland suburbs - and I use that term somewhat loosely - plenty of folks live in FG and commute in to jobs closer in on the Westside or even in Portland proper but it's still very much a small town with a quaint, old-fashioned, early 20th century American downtown.
  4. Isabella has pretty new boots! https://twitter.com/KarenDavid/status/636120587203579904
  5. The Pirates will return per Twitter! I'm so excited to have more "Pirates of the Sea, but not of the Actual Sea!" Except now, they're "Pirates of the Sea, Yes, of the Actual Sea!"
  6. I thought Robert and Ned were close in age with one another. These two actors look to be about 5-10 years apart in age.
  7. But haven't these type of endurance comps, in the past, gotten progressively harder as the comp has worn on?
  8. I'm sure that many of you posting here have teenage daughters or nieces so you're just as aware as I (one niece is, thankfully, well into her 20s now, but the other is just starting through the tumultuous teen years) that sometimes it really doesn't matter how much you tell a kid to not take risque or dirty pictures or videos, some of them are going to do it. I work with a youth organization for teenage girls and the adult leadership/advisers have been trying to educate young women about the dangers of social media and the internet for at least the last 9 years since my older niece became a state level officer. I know girls who, for a variety of reasons including poor body image, low self-esteem, peer and relationship pressures, have made these type of pictures or videos. It happens. Maddie is all of 12 years old. While it certainly should be expected, as active as these girls are on social media, that their parents are actively monitoring their interactions, sometimes, stuff falls through the cracks. I am not going to fault Melissa or any other parent, not when it's a 12 year old kid we are talking about. Maybe if she was 14 or 16, I'd be jumping on board the "really, Melissa?!" bandwagon. She probably won't ever, hopefully, do something like that again thanks to the extremely public nature of this incident.
  9. Love it - and if a shorter season was embraced, it might make Lena Olin more amenable to reprising her role. That would almost make up for the loss of Bradley Cooper to super-movie-stardom.
  10. I'm with those who don't believe Jon is dead for one simple reason. Recall back before the show aired season 1, D&D stated that when they met with GRRM to discuss bringing the series to television, he asked them one question - "who are Jon Snow's parents?" or something along those lines. They answered correctly and the rest, as they say, is history. If that was the one question GRRM thought these two needed to have enough insight and appreciation for the books to know the answer, then that tells us just how central Jon Snow is to the entire saga. No way is he dead.
  11. "The pool" on BB is nothing more than a glorified, extra large hot tub. That's not a real pool, not by California standards at least. I seriously doubt anyone watching the show from California is going to bat an eye at an over-sized hot tub on set. The water competitions might be a different matter but we'll have to see.
  12. That's how I feel. I'd so buy the DVD if NBC released this. Or, you know, record it and permanently save it on my DVR like I have the series finale (which I love to watch from time to time - such a satisfying and far better series finale than other shows I've watched *cough*Alias*cough*).
  13. I went to a woman's college in Virginia in the early '90s. We didn't have internet or email for the student body until the beginning of my junior year. I still recall arriving on campus fall of 1993 with some former classrooms in Main Hall converted to computer labs. I didn't know anyone off-campus who had email though I know a few of the freshman from other parts of the country had high school classmates with whom they remained in touch with via email. I know Yahoo's search engines was in its early stages in 1994-95. I distinctly remember searching and discovering the San Francisco Giants season schedule (being from the Bay Area and in college, of course I had my priorities straight, lol) and an early online fan community while still in college. Now, by 1996, email was much more widespread as were personal web pages, etc. My first job out of college was as a receptionist at a friend's photography studio. He had a computer, with internet access (gotta love those old dial-up modems!) and he was perfectly fine with me spending any downtime reading my email and participating in a few message boards & email list serves. This episode was definitely one of the best. I loved the horror flick-like stalking from Evan. Too funny. Overall a really solid episode.
  14. Looks like Dan Stevens is the next Downton alum to find Disney fame... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/disneys-beauty-beast-casts-dan-779323
  15. From the jaunt across the map it looked to me like Baird & Santa wound up somewhere in northern British Columbia, which is a far cry from either Alberta or Saskatchewan, but still shouldn't have been quite so lovely, lush and green for late December. London's climate is, though, quite similar to Portland or Seattle. Lots of grey days filled with rain in the autumn, winter and spring though summers are divine and usually not too hot. I was more thrown off by the Bavarian-style exterior of the "soup kitchen". I thought they were up in Leavenworth and went "whuh?!" when they then stated that was "London". The rest of the "London" didn't seem too unbelievable to me though.
  16. Not suggestive at all, even for "old country". Personally, I hated Craig's original song. I'll have to go listen to it on YouTube to see if it sounds better for radio but it was pretty darned repetitive and, frankly, I don't think Blake "kept it in his back pocket" because it was too hard to sing or special in any way. Blake has written a lot of songs in his career and most of them are a million times more interesting than the one he gave to Craig.
  17. I have a tough time imagining that Disney would give NBC the rights to produce any of their properties, whether they've been turned into Broadway musicals yet or not, so that likely rules out Beauty & the Beast, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. And I doubt Hairspray would be considered since it was turned into a huge movie hit just a few years ago. Other suggestions... Brigadoon, Camelot, or The Secret Garden?
  18. I decided to watch this last night, mostly because while I'm not too familiar with Peter Pan the musical I do want to support NBC's efforts to bring live theater to television. I started falling asleep in parts, but I'm not sure if that's because I was tired or because the production was that tepid - probably a combination of both. Walken was... Not good. I had some misgivings about his casting - I alternated between thinking this was a brilliant choice because of his quirky acting style could lend itself to a campy sort of Hook and then I'd think that perhaps he was too low energy for the role. Allison Williams was okay. Nothing great and while her voice was decent it was a little thin in spots, and that showed with someone like Kelli O'Hara in the Mother role. Heck, I thought Louderman had a stronger voice than Williams. Like everyone else, I was a bit taken aback by the choice to cast older actors for all of the children, the Lost Boys and Indians. All in all, I've already deleted this from my DVR and definitely won't be purchasing the DVD or asking for it for Christmas like I did last year (in my defense, TSOM is my all-time favorite musical and I grew up listening to my mom's album of the original Broadway cast recording). If the rumor is true and next year NBC is bringing us The Music Man, I'm in! After TSOM, TMM is my second-favorite musical. While it would be wonderful to see Borle rewarded with the lead role, I almost would rather see him in the Marcellus role. Who wouldn't want to see him dance the Shipoopi? He might be good as Mayor Quinn or Charlie the Anvil Salesman but then we wouldn't hear him sing at all. Agree that the stunt casting needs to be kept to a minimum for Marian. Professor Hill's role could be successfully stunt cast though.
  19. There are already videos from every phase of the Skate America competition up on YouTube from a Russian fan. Can't understand the Russian commentators but skating's skating.
  20. That's what one of my old college friends who is a diehard Red Sox fan said after the game tonight. She really enjoyed the game because it was very entertaining. It's too bad that the most exciting innings were occurring at the same time as the 4th quarter of the LSU-Ole Miss football game because that probably reduced the baseball ratings.
  21. Chiming in here on the "who's Micah's daddy?" discussion. In no way, shape or form do I believe that kid is Gunnar's. I think that Kylie was telling the truth when she said it wasn't his at first. It was only when he pressed her again that she said it was. I'm firmly of the opinion that the baby daddy in that case is actually Gunnar's dead brother. Recall that Kylie was asking about Jason when they first bumped into each other, and then the next time we saw them together. The way I see it, she knows that her kid's real father is dead, so the next best option is to let his father's brother believe the kid is really his. There's likely to be enough familial resemblance as the kid grows up that Gunnar will never question the truth. At least, not until the kid needs some sort of vital organ transplant and blood and/or DNA tests prove that they are related but not as father-son. As far as Daphne goes, I'm with the others upthread who've commented that it's about time she acted, stomped her foot and told Rayna she sucks. It's been working for Maddie for how many months now? I also agree with the person who said that the only way I was able to figure out the chocolate milk incident was supposed to reflect her being "bratty" was because of everyone else's reactions. And even still, I thought it was pretty silly and minor. Tell the kid to say "please" like any other parent or adult family member would do. Yes, the wallet will definitely come back to haunt Will. And I don't particularly care for Noah. He just seems a bit sketchy to me.
  22. In my world, he isn't dead. He's down there with Sloane, in that damned cave, watching his every move, his every attempt to free himself. And eventually, when they re-boot the series, with Syd & Vaughn's kids as the protagonists, it'll be to stop Sloane permanently, with Dixon still in charge of the CIA, Marshall still head of tech, Sark running the modern-day version of the Alliance/the Man/the Covenant, and SpyDaddy will be there to guide his grandkids through it all.
  23. David has to be playing Victoria. At least, that's what I'm hoping. I thought it was fairly obvious in the police station, both with his FBI statement and the private conversation with Victoria. Of course, that doesn't explain why he was willing to do Victoria's bidding last week to "take care" of Emily Thorne. Who the hell knows? The only things spectacular about this episode were Margaux's orange & white dress and Emily & Nolan's reactions to everything David.
