  1. Just because Derrick decided to flip on getting Zach out doesn't mean that he doesn't still have Frankie on his radar. He could decide that it would be better to get Christine out as a way to hinder Frankie since they're clearly aligned.
  2. I'm 41 years old, listen to country music as a preference and I've heard of Ariana Grande. I have a difficult time believing anyone in that house hasn't heard of her before they were sequestered, even in passing. Now, I might have questioned if there was a connection, but that's the way my mind works. I would see the pattern and wonder if there was some sort of relationship. But, I wouldn't have known for sure and Frankie probably could have pooh-pooed me off the scent because while I've heard of Ariana Grande until tonight I'd never listened to any of her songs or looked at any of her pictures/videos/performances (thanks for the YouTube links - yes, she does sound like she's reaching too hard for some of those high notes, but she's quite talented) and thus I wouldn't have noticed the resemblance. These people, though, prove the point several others have made. They're cast because they're dumb and they don't pay the slightest bit of attention to the world around them, not even to bother with reading the headlines over on GoogleNews every day (which is really the main reason I've heard of Ariana Grande and not my pre-teen niece and slightly older nephew who still choose to watch Nickelodeon and Disney Channel rather than teen-targeted crap). Frankie doesn't have to work too hard to conceal his sister's identity to these dimwits.
  3. Don't you mean "in case more than Kelly and Christy don't re-sign"? I'm not sure what I think Jill or Holly will do. Melissa would re-sign in a heartbeat. I tend to think that Jill would also. Holly I could see going either way.
  4. Frankly, as creepy as Caleb is towards Amber, I'm a-okay with her being backdoored and out before jury. Get her as far away from him as possible.
  5. Are the votes there to evict Caleb if Cody does put Caleb up instead of Donny? From what folks who have access to the feeds are describing there are four likely votes to keep Brittany (vs Caleb) - Donny, Jocasta, Zach & Amber (assuming she realizes that getting rid of Caleb now is a better option than keeping that brand of crazy around). There are four likely votes to keep Caleb - Derrick, Frankie, Christine & Victoria. That leaves Nicole and Hayden as the swing votes. My guess, based on what I've read about Hayden is he'd vote to keep Brittany over Caleb. Nicole is a bit harder to guess since she's influenced by both Christine and Hayden. If she went with whatever Christine told her, then that would mean Cody is the tie-breaker vote. I'm sure he'd vote to keep Brittany over Caleb (it would help mend fences from him, stupidly, putting her up in the first place). Thoughts?
  6. vb68 beat me to the Double Eviction explanation but to add to that... I can't really envision how a Double Eviction would work, especially in an hour of TV (which is really only 40 minutes of footage), with the 2nd HOH and Battle of the Block twist they've added this season. Plus, we don't usually get a Double Eviction until we get to Jury.
  7. This is such an interesting thread to read and usually I don't have any comments to add but a thought, or, really, a theory, occurred to me as I read through recent posts. The show is going to last 7 seasons. We've just wrapped up season 4 so by 2017 we'll be done with the TV show. Several have posited the notion that GRRM likes the attention, enjoys being a celebrity author. So, my thought/theory is that TWOW will come out before the show ends (perhaps sometime next summer after season 5 has concluded). That gives GRRM two more years to finish ADOS if he wants it done before the show ends which, at his current pacing, isn't all that likely. But, being the attention whore that he is, what if ADOS comes out in late 2018? Yes, the show will be over but it will still be present enough in the general public's mind to receive a fair bit of attention and it will put him squarely in the center of the media storm. No one but him. Not HBO, not the show's creators, not any of the actors, etc, just GRRM. What could be more palatable to him?
  8. I'll join you in the Evan corner, Crs97. I don't mind him one, especially since Paige reins him in so well most of the time.
  9. I love my light summer fluff and I'm so happy this show is back. I'm pretty sure that Sacani will stick around since the actor is now listed in the opening credits. I'm mildly intrigued by the introduction of Emma. We'll see how well she integrates with the rest of the characters. This show has been kind of hit or miss when adding or introducing new characters.
  10. I can't believe, in the midst of some really great examples provided already (Heroes, Glee, Roseanne), that no one's mentioned Alias. Just about the most brilliant show on TV for its first two seasons and then Lena Olin didn't come back for season 3 and it went downhill from there. I watched until the bitter end and obsessed over that show like none before or since but I still haven't brought myself to re-watch the finale, or most of season 5 really, since it went off the air.
  11. If I were picking a male country artist to replace Blake, I'd go with Tim McGraw or Brad Paisley. Both of them are still churning out hits, plus they're quite funny and personable. There aren't any female solo country artists that would be a good fit, I think. As mentioned above, there just aren't a lot of relevant females in country music these days, and the ones that aren't named Miranda, Carrie and Taylor are members of bands. Would Jennifer Nettles, Kimberly Perry or Hilary Scott be willing to commit to a full season of The Voice, knowing that it impacts not just them personally but their band mates as well? I have no suggestions for who should replace Adam, so I'll defer to the good judgment from those who have far more familiarity with pop music.
  12. Hello all! I haven't posted in the TWOP Smash forum probably since the season finale, which I re-watched a couple weekends ago. I'm so glad that someone got a forum up and running here at Previously! I did enjoy the fun snark we had at TWOP and look forward to plenty more here.
  13. Well, it was George's attempt at an English accent but I distinctly recall at the time many fans called it the Omni-Accent because it sometimes sounded Australian, other times it sounded English, and at other times it sounded like neither, and it most certainly wasn't American or Canadian. I haven't watched season 3 in years but nothing about her accent made any sense to viewers at the time, especially ones who were familiar with George's work prior to Alias. As someone pointed out, she was capable of a perfectly fine American accent.
  14. Still watching tonight's episode but just have to state for the record how much I love Kim. Easily my favorite character on this crazy show.
  15. I didn't hate the idea of Lauren Reed but I certainly hated the execution of the character. I would have had no problem with the idea that she was a double agent who was deliberately sent into Vaughn's life to seduce and marry him had that been the original concept of her character. Alias was never shy in sharing with the viewers the secrets and conflicted motivations of the characters - we always knew that Sloane didn't work for the CIA. We knew, from very early on, that Laura Bristow was really a deeply embedded Soviet spy. We knew that Will Tippin was, idiotically, investigating Danny's death. What we didn't know, and what was often so delicious and delightful, was how those secrets and conflicts would be revealed to the rest of the characters and what the fall-out of their choices would be. With Lauren, we were presented with "she's wonderful, she is not grey, she just came along when Vaughn was vulnerable" and it was very clear that the writers, especially JJ Abrams, thought the viewers would accept, maybe even love the character. When it became obvious that the show's fans were not and would not warm to Lauren Reed, or Melissa George's portrayal of her (that accent had to be the worst!), all of a sudden, TPTB shifted and suddenly she was turned into an almost cartoonish villain. Had she been introduced with even shades of grey, had it seemed, at any point in the first half of the season, that she might potentially be playing Vaughn or been in league with Sark & Irina or Sloane, then I wouldn't have felt like we fans were being appeased by the show. And that's ultimately what it felt like. There was nothing subtle about Lauren Reed.
  16. Another TWOP refugee, who discovered TWOP because of Alias. It is the only show, to this date, that I own every single season on DVD. First two seasons were amazing, parts of the other seasons were good, maybe great, could have been better. And, like most diehard Alias fans, especially from the old days at TWOP, I've never been able to watch the series finale again since it aired. Maybe in another year or so, on the 10-year anniversary, I'll bring myself to the point where I might, just might be okay with watching it again. But, probably only if I do not marathon my way through the entire series beforehand. Then, I'll just rage and rage at what a travesty the series finale was.
