  1. Actually, it's Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta. I asked Kat Likkel about this on Twitter a couple days ago because my OCD got the best of me. The ABC website and the name on screen in the pilot is Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta but Sid, erroneously, says Isabella Maria Lucia Elizabetta. She said it was an "oops". Teeheee.
  2. Oh, my gosh, I just laughed out loud at the unicorn spoiler because anyone who has seen Season 1 knows exactly who that unicorn is cuddling up to. I can't wait for Sunday's premiere!
  3. Oooooo! Hadn't recalled that but I bet you're right! That would be just like Gareth. And, it might explain this look on her face: http://www.farfarawaysite.com/section/galavant/gallery2/gallery4/hires/15.jpg
  4. Another great review from the NYT! Not terribly spoilery. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/31/arts/television/galavant-goes-medieval-for-the-biggest-laughs.html?smid=tw-share&_r=0
  5. There are all sorts of high-res episode stills from the first five episodes now available, but this one has me more than a bit intrigued and appalled... http://www.farfarawaysite.com/section/galavant/gallery2/gallery4/hires/25.jpg All the episode stills currently available - http://www.farfarawaysite.com/section/galavant/gallery2/gallery.htm
  6. The other highly important question is... If Galavant's dad is really named Arnold Galavant, then Galavant is apparently the family name. Soooooo, what's our Galavant's first name?
  7. I just checked my guide (Frontier) and they're definitely there so it's possible your local station is pre-empting them for something else (probably a sports match).
  8. Episode Synopses for 5 & 6 are out! https://www.facebook.com/events/933436563409704/ I'm already looking VERY forward to Episode 5 - not only does it, obviously (at least to me) have the WSS Jets vs. Sharks homage in it but it also has that darned enchanted tiara of Isabella's broken and that's a great thing. I'm also intrigued by what causes Sid to become a wanted man in Valencia. It definitely appears that this is going to be one of the key episodes of the entire season. I also notice that Galavant's dad isn't being played by Anthony Head this season. I wonder what prompted the change of actor.
  9. It's only half of the S1 episodes - Ep 1 "Pilot", Ep 4 "Comedy Gold", Ep 6 "Dungeons & Dragon Lady", and Ep 8 "It's All in the Executions". But, I believe those are the 4 best choices to hit the highlights/points of the 1st season's adventures.
  10. I knew you'd appreciate the Alias reference, betsyboo! I have never been as obsessed with a show as I am with Galavant since Alias went off the air. I still long for a re-boot. Or, well, I kind of wish that Limitless was on ABC and that it was some weird spin-off from Alias.
  11. Well, Luke Youngblood was in the HP movies (of which I'm completely unfamiliar) and had a recurring role on Community, so it's not as though he's been without steady work in his career. Karen David and Joshua Sasse have had some success in British tv but nothing major, though Sasse is still pretty young (only 28 now, 26 when he was cast in the pilot for Galavant). I'm not sure how old Mallory Jansen is but I'd say she's probably the most unknown of the original cast members. And, honestly, while I know a lot of people are familiar with both Omundsen and Jones, I can't say that I was familiar with either of them before Galavant. It's not as though any of these actors are names the way Jennifer Lawrence or Bradley Cooper (hehehe - and I always tease my friends that I knew who Bradley Cooper was, thanks to Alias, well before The Hangover, lol) are.
  12. It's Sid!!!!! I was watching, for the umpteenth million time, the new "Fight" promo (which is probably the BEST promo for the show this season, I think), and at the 11-12 second mark, you see a group of three riders heading off across a meadow. Pause it and take a close look at the riders - Richard is in the middle and the new character of Bobbi (Richard's love interest, played by Claire Foster) is obviously the rider on the right. The rider on the left is a little harder to identify unless you look closely at the hair. That's immediately followed by a brief flash of Sid, side profile, leading a line into battle. Comparing the side shot of Sid with the rider on the left, I'm pretty confident that Sid somehow escapes from Valencia and meets up with Galavant & Richard mid-season. Thoughts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM-ybN13rG0&sns=tw
  13. Well, at least episodes 3-4. We'll see what next week's synopses for 5 & 6 say. It does sound, from that spoilery article, that she'll have figured things out and will be on her way towards freedom, by 7, so I'm guessing that something happens in 6 to break the enchantment. Any guess as to which cast member connects with Galavant & Richard mid-way through the season? If I had to guess, I'd go with Sid but the Jester might be a possibility.
  14. Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about her being trapped under an enchanted tiara. I read a very spoilery review of the first 7 eps of S2 today that makes me even less happy about the amount of Galabella (or rather lack of) that we're getting, at least through the first 3.5 weeks. On the one hand, I realize she's a medieval feminist and shouldn't NEED Galavant to come and rescue her, but I'm a hardcore Galabella shipper and I want them together, dammit! On the other hand, Karen David & Kat Likkel, as well as the rest of the actors involved in the Hortensia plot, have pretty much raved about it, and the reviewer said that Karen does a great job as the only major cast member in carrying the Hortensia plot. I'm torn, scared at the moment, at what is coming, but I'll probably end up loving it by the time we've seen the whole of S2. I suspect that Galavant is just trying, at least at first, to shed Richard so he can set off for Hortensia ASAP, lol. Richard, though, is apparently that obnoxious, younger sibling, that wants to tag along everywhere with the cool, teenaged, older sibling.
  15. Plot descriptions for 3 & 4 are out! https://www.facebook.com/events/439334396262499/ All I have to say is I KNEW Wormwood was plotting to take over the throne of Hortensia!

  17. So glad I'm not the only one who noticed that she wasn't playing any chords! I was prepared to be impressed then I watched her carefully and was all "uhm, no, girl ain't playing". I watched last night's show in approximately 35 minutes. Enjoyed "Forever and Ever, Amen" but only when Zach was singing. Barrett's voice is too high to do anything by Randy Travis justice. Skipped almost everything else except the Barrett/Wynona duet, and Emily Ann's blonde girl with one token brunette party song, and I FF through parts of those because I was bored. Listened to snippets of Usher/Jordan and that might have been about it. I still don't really think Emily Ann is going to have much of a career in mainstream country music. 15 years ago, she might have had a chance, but that's when you could hear a lot more bluegrass-tinged music on country radio. Yes, Ricky Skaggs is a legend and for good reason. Oh, for the good 'ol days when country radio was so much more than it currently is.
  18. Honestly, I don't get the hate here for the "Holiday Music" as one of the three genres the singers had last night. I can understand some people being offended by the secular Christmas songs since there are so many non-secular standards the artists could have chosen. I love Christmas music, secular and non-secular. Granted, I pretty much OD on it post-Thanksgiving through Epiphany, lol, but I had no problem with it being one of the genres last night. With respect to "Mary Did You Know" - my Christmas music collection is pretty varied and extensive - plenty of classic crooners, pop, country, choral, etc - and I don't have a single cover of MDYK, which is kind of bizarre because I know I've heard it before. Not that it matters since Jordan's version was completely unmemorable to me. But Jordan bores me. A lot. He'll win and that's fine enough, I suppose, though I'm not wowed by him in any capacity. And don't get me started on how awful he sounded on "Climb Ev'ry Mountain". I was reading along in here just as the show started and read a comment upthread about how he's no Audra McDonald and that left me remembering her glorious rendition of this song in the NBC Live event two years ago just as Jordan was hitting the climax of the song. No, no, no. Just no. Barrett was fine on both of the songs I listened to, though I didn't pay a bit of attention to his "Silent Night". It's probably one of my least favorite Christmas hymns and that certainly factored into why I tuned him out. The other factor was Jeffrey's version of "O Holy Night" which IS one of my favorite hymns. I have very fond memories of my grandmother playing that on her baritone at our church's Christmas Eve service every year, and I'm terribly picky about the covers of it that I own. Jeffrey's is not one that I will ever download. I didn't mind "Stay", probably even preferred it to the original but that has more to do with my distaste for Jennifer Nettles than anything else. I want to like Emily Ann, I really do. She definitely has a cute stage presence but I find her voice just so thin that I can't fall in love with her. She lacks power and it really bothers me, on pretty much every song she sings. I don't think she'll get far in today's country music landscape.
  19. The Road to Galavant tumblr page has the synopses for Episodes 1 & 2 up! http://roadtogalavant.tumblr.com/post/135212852549/2x012x02-episode-synopsis-a-new-season-aka Discuss!
  20. The Road to Galavant tumblr has the press releases for episodes 1 & 2 up!!!!! http://roadtogalavant.tumblr.com/post/135212852549/2x012x02-episode-synopsis-a-new-season-aka Dying! And any other conversation about them I suppose needs to go in the Spoilers thread.
  21. Except his first solo in S1 he sings about starting a genocidal war. And he tells the King & Queen of Valencia that he'll stop the pillaging and killing yada yada yada if they'll just give him the jewel of Valencia. And he says "I haven't killed anyone this week". Plus he has the eunuch killed for pointing out that Madalena is boinking the jester. Mind you, all of that is played for laughs but he's no saint, not by a long stretch. In the overall scheme of worst monarchs/dictators ever he is hardly at the level of Ivan the Terrible or Vlad the Impaler, nor do I think he rises to the level of Regina from OUAT, however he's done some pretty unforgivable things as a ruler. Plus, he was more than okay with killing Kingsley in the season finale. The only thing that gave him pause was his attire and that pause lasted the length of a comedy beat. I don't think that Izzy's parents were awful. Yes, they arranged for her to marry her cousin but that was pretty typical for royal families up until the last 75-100 years. They seemed to be pretty benign rulers apart from that, and they certainly trained Isabella to become a queen herself when they passed away (similar to the real Kingdom of Castile). Frankly, I think Richard has to become a much more self-aware, decent human being and benevolent ruler before he earns any happy ending.
  22. Well, after last week's episode, I deleted this series off my DVR and only tuned in last night in the hopes ABC would give me a new Galavant promo (they did!). Quantico is just as stupid as it was last week and this entire season. I rolled my eyes at the ex-wife's tirade against Alex and rolled them again when she anviled us with "you really are beautiful". Isn't the first rule of writing to show not tell? Gah. Oh, and cycling through the various supporting characters as potential bomber candidates is going to get really old, really fast. I'm so thankful that I will have zero reason to come back in March. Peace out, folks!
  23. New Galavant promo tonight during Quantico - I don't know how to upload it from my DVR or I'd put it up on YouTube. The biggest takeaway I got from it is there definitely appears to be a Galabella dream sequence. Squeeeeee!
  24. Honestly, I don't mind the mish-mash of historical eras in costuming on OUAT either. I think that it places both shows firmly in the fantasy genre and that's a good choice from the production crews of both shows because it establishes, for the audience, the firm intention that they are playing with and/or embellishing familiar stories or tropes. We wouldn't have the same expectations of either show if we were burdened with period costuming a la The Tudors or Downton Abbey.
