  1. Thank you. I thought she said *HE* (meaning her father) wouldn't get a blood test. As for trusting Gary, in the real world I might, but from the stories we have seen so far, there will probably be more drama about this.
  2. How many decades ago is this show set? If it's in the current century, Gillian and Gareth (I hope those are the correct names) could take a DNA test to find out whether they are half siblings, and then (if it is positive) decide whether to tell Alan. I watched the couple of episodes of season 1 long ago but with such a large cast I got too confused to continue. Our PBS station did a marathon of season 2 recently, and seeing episodes close together helped me keep characters straight.
  3. Can someone who knows ASL comment on the signing that Henry and his mother and grandmother do? Does it look as if the actors actually know (some) ASL?
  4. I liked Laurence Fishburne's character Ray at the beginning, when he was changing careers and anxious about doing well, But then they turned him into super CSI, the greatest at everything. There are too many characters like that on TV already (see Finn).
  5. Surely Clyde is a fan of Peanut, a red-eared slider turtle who was rescued in 1993 with a plastic six-pack holder embedded in her shell that had deformed it to a peanut shape. As the face of Missouri’s No More Trash campaign, warning the public of the dangers that littering poses to marine life, she exemplifies determination to overcome obstacles. Sherlock must approve too. http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/peanut-turtle-still-alive-and-saving-worlds-oceans
  6. How many episodes is this show supposed to have? Hoping it is just a one-summer series of 12-13 episodes. If it is, a sensible date for "the big event" might be in August rather than November.
  7. Thank you, susannot. A coffin was originally a basket, box, or other container, used for any purpose. The surname Coffin (prominent in New England) probably originated with people who made these containers.
  8. Can Alex see all the contestants' FJ answers as soon as they write them, before he starts going through them for the audience?
  9. Medical reviews and discussion of "House" episodes: http://www.politedissent.com/house_pd.html
  10. "Battle Creek" reminded me of "The Good Guys" (Bradley Whitford & Colin Hanks) which was on FOX IIRC. Maybe Fox would have been a better home for BC, but then GG lasted only one season.
  11. If they film in New York, why didn't they set the show in New York?
  12. Yes, Hugh Laurie! And Stephen Fry too, with them in some scenes together. For a little extra heart-throb, have Hugh Laurie wear glasses.
  13. Re Patsy and Delia: did all nursing jobs require living in a dormitory? Maybe if they found other jobs they could get their own flat and have a "Boston marriage."
  14. Reminded me of one place I worked. A raving Christian and a raving atheist kept shouting at each other. The rest of us noticed that they were sometimes saying the same thing, but they couldn't hear it.
  15. A smaller point -- why doesn't McGee's phone have caller ID? He picked up the phone, said his name and title, listened to the caller for a moment, and only then found out that the caller was Gibbs. Surely those wasted seconds could sometimes make a difference.
  16. The way I learned it, from Reconstruction to the early 1900s, most black folks considered themselves Republicans because of Lincoln etc., although many were not actually allowed to vote (see "Solid South"). With the New Deal in the 1930s and expanded voting rights in the 1960s, the consensus shifted to Democrats. I would have thought some of the characters had heard about this from older relatives.
  17. Clyde, your Uncle Jonathan says hello. Jonathan was an adult in 1902 (see photo) so he is now at least 150 years old. If Sherlock disappoints you, you can think about requirements for your next human servant. http://www.earthporm.com/jonathan-tortoise-photographed-1902-today/?ts_pid=2&ts_pid=5
  18. Sheldon's mother Mary visited recently. Maybe she gave Sheldon the ring (could be hers or Meemaw's). Suppose she decided that Amy is Sheldon's best chance to have what she (Mary) considers a normal life, so she urged Sheldon to marry Amy. (Apologies if someone else has posted this suggestion. If you did, I didn't see it.)
  19. Was the blonde mom of one mixed up baby the diabetic from last week? I expected her to have medical complications.
  20. Unfortunately I can imagine Amy singing this song, accompanying herself on the harp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdkb_4eD4Rs
  21. Maybe these people are crew members, getting . . . not something to remember this show by, but something to show their families "I was on TV!"
  22. Some Star Wars fans who make the BBT guys' interest look lukewarm: http://www.oddee.com/item_99308.aspx?utm_
  23. They could have ended the series at the beginning of this episode. Ghost writer: "I'll want to talk to your friends." Alicia: "Uh -- "
  24. Wishing they had a web site with information about medical conditions etc. at the time the show is set.
  25. A young character reminiscent of Eddie Haskell of "Leave It to Beaver" could be fun. An aspiring politician or diplomat, perhaps?
