  1. Just watched Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris on Prime and I loved it. The costumes were beautiful and the acting was very good. Put me in a similar frame of mind as Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, another one I love.
  2. I was just thinking "she has to be getting up there in age". VR did sound really frail during this episode. It's so nice to have this show back, even if it is more and more obvious that we are getting a severely edited version of the show. I do not like the new nun and can't think what the writer's are trying to achieve with her character. Poor Lucille and Cyril, and everyone else that had to put up with the particular brand of foolishness from that MP.
  3. It is annoying, but if you go to the final episode of a series and fast forward to the end it will remove it from your continue watching list.
  4. I loved this show during its initial run! So many great characters. I don't remember episode titles, just more great moments. TV Guide used to have a quote of the week from broadcast shows and so many times the quote was a line from H:LOTS. One was Pembleton to Bayliss "you can have the ER, I'll take Homicide". A great line because so many actors started out on H:LOTS and then migrated over to the show ER. Loved Frank not going to Crosetti's funeral but standing in the dress blues when the squad walked by. I think that was the beginning of the Pembleton love. Gee telling Frank he put up with him because he "turned red names black". How Gee put his kids through college playing Hearts. There were some great villains too, stand out would be Luther Mahoney. I clearly need to dust off my dvd's and re-watch this show.
  5. Just have to say that Barbara would have been flying out of Philly International Airport and it does not have any dining options before you get through security, so yes she would need to buy a ticket. Really cute episode, I agree it was a good use of Ava. I also loved Donnie's new girlfriend giving Janine the "I'm watching you" look when Donnie asked for his valentine back.
  6. Just finished the entire season and I really liked it. I'm one of those people that avoided the series at first because I've become fatigued with everything having to be "dark" and serious. It seems if anything is joyful or optimistic it's not to be taken seriously and has no meaning. I'm just over that type of entertainment. But, like others, a friend recommended this series and I'm glad I gave it a chance. It wasn't what I was expecting, in a good way. Cassian wasn't a favorite character in Rogue One but I liked learning more about him here. Unlike some others, I really enjoyed all the Mon Mothma scenes. I felt her scenes showed that tension can come from more than action/fight scenes. And learning what people sacrificed for the rebellion was nice. Leia wasn't the only "princess" or person of privilege in the rebellion. Mon Mothma's story helped me understand why she and Leia got along so well (in the books). Could the story have been tighter? Yes, probably one less Aldhani episode and one less prison episode but the show wasn't ruined for me by the pacing. I didn't realize there was going to be a season 2, very happy to find that out. Because there are still big gaps between this and Rogue One which I rewatched right after finishing episode 12. I understand some thought this show didn't feel as much like "Star Wars" as other shows, but for me it had enough elements for me to believe it's the same universe. Jedi and Force users can't be everywhere. Glad I gave this show a chance and will be back for season 2.
  7. Such a great episode. I didn't watch the series when it was first released because I wasn't the biggest fan of Cassian from Rogue One. But a friend told me it's the best show, so I gave it a try. So glad I did! I love this show! These episodes are so tense. Even though I know Cassian and Mon Mothma are going to make it out of the series, I don't know what they're going to have to go through to get there. I always respected MM in the Star Wars universe, but I love her in this series. The character of Luthen is just so "gray" but SS is knocking it out of the park. I need Karn to be dealt with severely, can not stand him and feel no sympathy. He needs to be careful not to choke on his ambition. When Andy Serkis showed up I just started cheering, he was so great in this and we'll probably never see this character again. RE: I can't swim, that is real. If you grew up knowing how to swim or can't remember learning it seems like no big deal. But growing up a minority in the inner city, learning how to swim is not a given. I didn't learn until I was in my twenties. And I had to learn to float and learn every kind of stroke. Your body does not just take over, you will drown if you don't know what you're doing. I felt so bad for him. Are we to assume that only Cassian and the other guy made it to land from the prison break? On to the final two episodes...
  8. I liked TIU and Jack for the first couple seasons. I think, for me, the show took a permanent downward turn when William died. Of course, my own father was dying at the time and that's the last episode we watched together. But then Randall became totally unbearable for me, I just started FF through his scenes. I knew then it was time to cut the cord. I thought I would tune in for the final episodes, but I didn't. Don't feel like I missed anything.
  9. I was a Miss Howard, and, yep, I can totally see it. Although if you come at me wrong I can turn into a Melissa quick.
  10. They have updated the heart since I was a kid, I'm not a fan of the new, safer version. But I do love the Franklin Institute's brain exhibit, the whole section is awesome. FI is one of those places I take my friends when they visit from out of town. Loved this episode, Ava didn't get on my nerves and Barbara found a good way for Henry to earn some extra money. And Mr. Johnson saying the three of them should have just gotten in the car and drove away was hilarious. I can't tell if Mo is just playing Janine or if he really likes her.

    Ghost (1990)

She couldn't see him. When she went to his apartment and met Molly she asked Sam "is this you?" then she said "cute, White but cute".
  12. I always have to set a reminder that this is on. I was very happy for all the recipients, but I was strangely underwhelmed by the performances. I think the best tribute was for George Clooney. I'm not usually a big fan of his but I really enjoyed his section and how moved he appeared by his fathers words. I've been waiting for Gladys Knight to receive a KCH for many years but I was not moved by her tribute, it showcased how unique her voice really was/is, not many people can sing a Glady Knight song. Loved hearing from Amy Grants kids. Really wish Mary J Blige hadn't been ill, she would have killed her tribute to U2. Does Sean Penn always talk like that? He seemed sedated or something. Good show, just not great.
  13. I agree. I knew something with the professor would be "off" but I was hoping it would be plagiarizing her story and not what we got. I will say Regina delivered on her scenes.
  14. The blooper reel kind of saved the whole thing. I'm glad they did a limited run series because a 2 hour movie would not be enough but it did run a little off the rails.
  15. Thank you for naming Nicole Ari Parker! I could not think of her name last night. And yes, the show did begin in 2024 and then went back to 2015, so I guess a lot will happen in the next 9 years. Nice to see the original cast all together and looking forward to how it all gets wrapped up. The actor playing Quentin's father looked familiar...I did NOT like him.
  16. OMG I loved Harper's Island. And yes a second season would have ruined the show so it didn't really die before it's time. I even enjoy a re-watch when I can find it.
  17. Doesn't Gregory teach 1st grade? That's where we first met Amber and now her son is in Janine's class.
  18. Just enough Ava in the episode, with so many one-liners, I think my favorite was "give me something cheap so I can spit out" ROFL. I liked Mr. Johnson speaking some truth to Jacob. And Andre Igoudala (sp?)! He won his championships with the Warriors but us Sixers fan were happy for him (at least this one was). Nice ep to break on. Do we have a date for the January return?
  19. Yes, Virgilia in North and South, she was a force of nature. Kirstie was awesome and so beautiful. I was bummed when they recast Saavik in Star Trek 3 because she was so good in Star Trek 2. Really shocked and saddened, like others have said another piece of my childhood gone.
  20. Oh yes, Baghban is infuriating but he does get them in the end and Salman Khan was great in his supporting part. One of his horrible sons had a small part in another bollywood movie I really enjoyed Vivah. Older brother of the main character.
  21. I agree, I love all the ladies and hate Brady. But I think this movie is about the 2017 Superbowl and the Eagles won in 2018.
  22. Only going with young Amitabh Bachchan? I really enjoy his older roles, particularly Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Baghban. Enjoy your weekend!

    Disney Films

I watched both Enchanted (for the first time) and Disenchanted this weekend and really liked them both. I think it helped me watching them back to back not to be too disappointed in the second film. While watching Enchanted my mom kept saying "are they really not going to let Idina Menzel sing?". They sure made up for it in the second film, her song was awesome. I also loved the "dance-off" between the two evil queens. I love Amy Adams in just about anything and thought she did the differences between good/evil Giselle nicely. I'm always rooting for James Marsden so enjoyed seeing him again. Just a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
  24. I just finished a re-watch of the entire series and then saw this headline this morning. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/supernatural-star-nicki-aycox-dies/ar-AA14kwuo?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=6765107815d14c749b492b8a00de3eff I never liked the character of Christine, and the entire final episode focused on her, but I was saddened to see this about the actress.
  25. I don't know who Snowstorm is, and she doesn't stand a chance against Wilson Phillips or Amber Riley, but I will forever love her telling Nick "I don't want to stand too close to you because I don't want to get pregnant". I loved it!
