  1. I don't know how I stumbled upon this lovely show eight years too late, but I've just finished binge watching the 1st season and I'm hooked. I really enjoyed reading your comments from 8 years ago. That means Sam is 30 and his son is 7 or 8! Has there been any updates on these 1st season contestants, like a where are they now? I'm really looking forward to seeing how the show changes over the seasons and I wonder if the current season (10?) is anything like this amazing 1st season. On to season 2...
  2. I really enjoyed this episode. But, as has been mentioned, I don't understand Starfleet's rule against augments. Illyrians aren't human, are they? It can't be that Starfleet doesn't want to admit beings that are physically stronger than humans because that would keep out Vulcans, Klingons etc. You're part of a united federation of planets, how can you discriminate on how another planet lives? It's just such a frustrating law. I loved Yetide Badaki and hope they find a way to bring her back. Loved seeing the crew back together and Pike's awkward hug at the end.
  3. I agree with this statement. My mom and I watch SNW together but I've only seen an episode or two of TOS so I'm a lot less frustrated with SNW. I do find myself comparing to the new movies but remember those are set in a different timeline.
  4. I watched Discovery and SNW. You don't need to watch Discovery to understand SNW. The season of Discovery where Pike is introduced is probably one of their better seasons. You would probably be fine just watching season two. I don't think we got any extra character development for Number One though.
  5. I thought that was interesting too. But I think she'll fade back once Una returns to the ship, that's her chair. I didn't love this episode, but I'm glad to have the show back. I think a lot of the pairings were because they were still dealing with Covid precautions while filming this episode. I watched the Ready Room and Ethan Peck mentioned that they had started filming season two before season one even aired so they didn't know what worked for viewers or what didn't. I'm really not loving the Spock/Chapel pairing but I guess I'll have to live with it. I hope the show goes back to being more of an ensemble piece. The absence of Pike and Una (number one) was really felt. I don't dislike Carol Kane but I thought she was just talking like Carol Kane, especially after her interview in the Ready Room. I think I will like the character.
  6. I was disappointed to see so many cast members cut, but am grateful for a fourth (and probably final) season. Hopefully we won't have to wait too many years to get the next season and we'll be able to get a proper send off.
  7. Finally saw The Way of the Water today on Disney+. I enjoyed it visually. It was beautifully shot and the world building was great. All the new creatures etc. very nice. I imagine if you had the chance to see this in 4D it was awesome. That said, I thought the plot was thin and predictable. I found myself annoyed with almost all the characters at one time or another.
  8. Finally caught this on Prime and I enjoyed it. However, I am glad I didn't pay to see it. The first two Creed movies were so much better. I always thought it was odd that Maryann's children didn't appear in the other movies because I knew from the Rocky movies that she had at least two children. I also thought it was odd that there was no mention of Rocky at all in this film. It was nice seeing Victor Drago again and little Amara was great! I'm beginning to wonder if Jonathan Majors is really a good actor or if he's just playing himself as his characters seem pretty much the same. I knew he was playing Adonis from the first meeting at the gym, I was shouting at the screen, "let him walk away, do not invite him to your home". I'm glad to end the Creed movies here if that's the plan.
  9. I really enjoyed this show and hope there are future seasons. I was so relieved that the AK boys won, because I really did not like Max. Which is sad, because I did like him in the early episodes. At least twice he made a big mistake by not listening to Christian and was so pissy about it when it was obvious it was his fault. And being competitive doesn't mean you have to be a jerk. At least he was gracious at the finish line. I was glad that Cason and Bella finished the race after their scare.
  10. I totally nominated it and hope it makes it this year.
  11. Another episode I really enjoyed. Loved Clark's excitement at hanging out with the boys. So is Lois wearing a wig now or what? Because her hair looked really good in this episode and it shouldn't have. Loved the makeup on Peia, and being able to see that the new cure really did work. I know it's wrong, but I did love how she refused to admit her crime even facing death. Doesn't Lois know what kind of monster Lex is? They still have the same 35 year old looking actor portraying teenage Junior, he takes me out of every scene. Wonder what trouble he'll start about being saved by Jordan. I felt bad for Kyle when he know Sarah and Lana were lying to him. What did expect to happen at Kent Farm when he called for the boys? Even before Clark flew away he knew something was happening because Clark stopped him with two fingers. I'm so tired of Jordan and his teenage angst. When is he going to become likable? Looking forward to next week.
  12. I don't go to movie theaters that often anymore, but I saw this trailer and was like "I know where I'll be that weekend". I know there will be some Oscar wins for this film, if only to make up for the travesty of the shutout for the original. This looks so good.
  13. Total gut punch, I was not expecting to hear this at all today. I loved Tina Turner, what a loss. Saw her as part of Divas Live in NYC years ago, she was great, Simply The Best.
  14. In an interview Elizabeth did about this season, she said they added extensions/pieces to her hair at the beginning of the season and they will gradually take pieces out to show the effect of her losing her hair. Another great episode. I really like how this family talks to each other and apologizes to each other. I like that the twins are not just allowed to talk to their parents anyway they want. How does Matteo not know anything is going on with his mom?
  15. Dad does seem really threatened by his son having grown up since the last time they did a challenge together. I was sorry to see the rock climbing friends go, but they obviously did not know the definition of "hustle". They kept saying they had to hustle but they were moving at a snails pace. I too don't see the team standings changing unless the dad hurts himself. Or if the AK brothers hurt themselves trying to be first for every leg of the race.
  16. And is it just me, or does he seem incapable of sitting up straight in a chair? This may be more noticeable in the next episode, I binged watched and they're all running together. But at one point I was yelling at the screen for him to sit up straight.
  17. I'll risk it, did you see his biceps in that last hug with Lois?!? Nice episode. I really loved Clark and Lois' talk at the end and his feelings of helplessness. I was more than a little annoyed at Jordan, but he's a teenager, they sincerely think they know it all. I don't understand how Jordan being half human might make him stronger than Superman though. I would think he wouldn't get the same strength etc. that Superman does from Earth's sun because he's from earth. How old is Sophie supposed to be? I'm not sure if she's tall for her age or if Sara is just short. But that baby voice got on my nerves. But Sara and Sophie are not little children who can't be left home alone for a couple hours, I didn't get Lana's anger, other than she was panicked. Loved Lois having someone to talk to about what she's going through, too bad she's a villain. But maybe a change of heart is coming?
  18. It took five days for the previous episode of the Ready Room to become available. I think it's something wrong with Paramount+. I really have been enjoying Wil Wheaton's chats with the cast and crew.
  19. Just discovered this show and am just watching the first episode, so glad to read your comments, will definitely stick with it. It does remind me of one of the Eco Challenge shows, but with smaller teams.
  20. They had me at Franklin Institute, one of my absolute favorite places in Philly. And yes, overnight field trips there are a real thing, I was so impressed they got to actually film inside the museum. I've come to think of the will they/won't they trope as just bad writing and lack of imagination. Not something I would have associated with this show, but there it is. Getting your leads together doesn't always kill the show, if it's done right. One of the best examples I've seen was on Farscape, the writing just got better after they put the leads together. It just takes really good writing, the chemistry is there with the actors. Melissa may have been a bit much but she made me laugh out loud with the "you're really not from Philly if you think I'm going to volunteer". Looking forward to what they have in store for us next season.
  21. I was just going to say the same thing, say what you will about Tom Hanks, Road to Perdition was a great performance. I don't think he's ever portrayed a character quite like that one.
  22. I admit I felt let down by this finale. It was great seeing the OG cast together, but I was really hoping for a Wesley sighting. And while we're on the topic of hugs, why did "Crash" LaForge hug Seven when her sister was standing right there? Like, shouldn't you have a closer relationship with your sister? Worf was my favorite of the returning crew and I did give a little "aww" at Admiral Anton Chekov, but did they kill him off too? When is Lower Decks coming back?
  23. PBS Passport has the edited broadcast, which is really sad and makes you wonder what you're paying for. It's ridiculous that so much of the show is left on the cutting room floor. Sorry, posted at the same time as iMonrey. I really love seeing Timothy on this show and watching him grow up. Same with Angela, they case her as a baby and it's still the same actress all these years later.
  24. Right at the beginning of showing how sick the whole household was, there was a brief shot of poor Angela hurling into a bucket. But yes, after that, she disappeared.
  25. I just saw this on Paramount+ and really enjoyed it. I love all the ladies, but was so distracted by Jane Fonda's face, it took me out of all her scenes. Good use of Harry Hamlin and Glynn Turman. Loved Billy Porter also. I felt the movie was just long enough that I didn't get bored. Glad the ladies were supportive and protective of each other throughout. Fun way to spend 90 minutes.
