  1. The Vanishing (1988) I had seen the Kiefer Sutherland remake years ago so wanted to catch the original. Wow, this one stays with you. I don't necessarily agree, but understand the changes that were made to the remake. The average Hollywood movie wouldn't end the way the original did. And the movie didn't spell things out for you, you just had to pay attention and figure it out. Well done film.
  2. My post got deleted yesterday. I enjoyed this episode despite a lot of stupid choices made by folks. Poor Russo, when I saw the title of the episode I knew things wouldn't go well for him. That last scene with Neagley holding his hand was just sad. He's a tough guy though, him confronting his boss like that was crazy. Al Sapienza never plays a good guy, I'm surprised he didn't kill Russo right then and there. I too was offended for Marlo at Reacher and Dixon having sex in her bed while she's trying to stay alive with her daughter. I'm glad Marlo is not evil and that Swan is seemingly not a bad guy. I guess all roads are leading to the showdown with A.M., who I am almost bored by when he shows up on the screen.
  3. Finally saw this over the weekend, I loved it! I think it's one of the best Hunger Games movies, right after Catching Fire. I really enjoyed the book and I thought they did a good job with adapting the book. I've never seen Tom Blythe before, but thought he was a great Snow. Rachel Z was really good. Viola Davis was fantastic and terrifying. I think Lucy started to really doubt Snow when she found out he was leaving 12 to go to officer training. Funny thing is I don't think Snow meant Lucy any harm until he realized she had turned on him. Sorry to realize how Tigris ended up after seeing where she and Snow started. I wouldn't mind another book telling us how Snow eventually became president, I mean there's a 64 year gap between movies... I think I'll add this one to my HG library.
  4. I agree, I no longer think Swan is dirty. I think he might be dead and someone just said they were Swan in case the hired shooters were caught. My mouth did drop when the building blew up, I thought the guy was going to die, just not like that. How did Neagley and Dixon get into the trunk of that car? "You do not mess with...teamsters". Made me laugh. I'm glad the cop is not dirty. Thanks to Larry Bird, I instantly knew dude was in Indiana, lol.
  5. Another great show! I am familiar with all the honorees, so happy for each of them. Whenever we find out who the honorees will be, I play a little game trying to figure out who will get the final tribute and this year I guessed correctly that it would be Barry Gibb. But I have to say, as great as Ariana DeBose is, something was lacking with her performance, she couldn't seem to get the crowd engaged enough to get out of their seats. Cynthia E. killed with "Alfie" I felt sorry for the person having to follow that performance. And "You'll Never Walk Alone" was awesome. I also loved the comments from Queen Latifah's family, so heartfelt and real. But, like was already mentioned, I miss the little biographies that used to introduce each honoree. Overall and enjoyable show that I look forward to watching again.
  6. I saw this on Christmas day and enjoyed it. The cast did a great job! My theater was full and applauded when Fantasia tore the roof off the place with her rendition of I'm Here. I had to remind myself that this movie was based on the play and not the 1985 movie. I hope this version gets the awards love the original did not receive.
  7. I agree with the thoughts that O'Donnell is not all he is saying he is. Has anyone even heard his kids voices, like on speaker phone? Do we know for sure that's even who he's talking to? And, he could have still been the one to trash Neagley's hotel room and just played it off that he found it like that. Although that would be two seasons in a row where someone we thought we could trust turned out to be a traitor, I hope the show isn't that much by the numbers. One another more shallow note, if they do want to go by the numbers, I hope they find a reason to put Reacher in a suit every season, the man cleans up well. So great seeing Finley again!
  8. It wasn’t terrible, we’ve just seen it all before. A little Star Wars, a little Magnificent Seven/Seven Samurai, at one point it was clear little Kona was baby Gamorra. I always feel Snyder’s movies wouldn’t be so long if he didn’t insist on so many slo-mo scenes, that really don’t add to the movie. I’m not invested in the farmers and don’t care about the Empire, I mean Motherworld.
  9. Great season! Congratulations to Greg and John, I was smiling when they entered the park. Although I would have been happy for any of the teams. I got a kick out of the people helping teams in Seattle. They knew it was the Amazing Race and they were cheering them on, that made me smile.
  10. This one hurts so bad. What a talented actor. I first paid attention to his role in Glory where some said he gave a better supporting performance than Denzel. He was also great in another favorite of mine, Frequency. But of course there will never be another like Frank Pembleton in "the box" with a suspect turning red names black. What an awesome character. And so much love for Raymond Holt. I could just go on. Such a talent. He will be missed.
  11. I really enjoyed this episode. I was unspoiled so did not realize we would get so much of the new doctor. On a totally shallow level, is it wrong to envy Ncuti Gatwa's legs? I want legs like that. I knew nothing about the Toymaker before this episode and I still don't know much, but NPH did his thing and I didn't hate it. I thought #2 special was a lot more scary than this one. So glad we got to see Kate again, and so relieved she didn't slap the doctor. Unpopular opinion ahead, but I was never crazy about Tennant's doctor. I'm a huge Matt Smith fan, but Donna is my all time favorite companion so I was satisfied with the way things ended for 10/14 & Donna. But I really don't ever have to see Tennant as the Doctor again. I'm really looking forward to Gatwa's run as the Doctor. I can see he's one of those rare actors that has mad chemistry with everyone, so that should be fun to watch. Bring on the Christmas Special!
  12. As long as Hibiscus went home I was okay. When I heard the sitting up in my room clue for Candelabra I thought of Brandy, but I don’t think that’s her voice. My thoughts then went to either Monica or Ashanti. Really good singers in group C
  13. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Alec and Rose and I hope they bring her back, and that if they bring her back they don't ruin her character. But those scenes proved they don't need the ex-wife story line, they have no chemistry. They can make Marissa a recurring character for cases that actually require FBI involvement. I did not know what was going on with Marissa and Kylie's scenes, I was wondering if they had hooked up in the past, or had UST. It was a mess, just to say I miss us hanging out. I am still annoyed by the interns. I think the female is just a bad actor and so it difficult to understand what her feelings are or what they're supposed to be.
  14. AL is not at the level of intensity that Colin was, but the thing that I remember most is that because Colin never really got over the yield he was off his game the rest of the season and their dominance wasn't what it had been. This U-turn might be enough to really throw Steve & AL to the point where they never win another leg. I was also shocked when they were told they hadn't completed the other Detour, can't understand the logic of telling them. Sorry to see the brothers go, they seemed nice.
  15. I thought this was the best episode yet. Part of that, as has already been said, is the lack of interns. The ex-wife is also a weak link but at least she was mostly focused on her job this week and not her love life. Nice to see MJW again, and he wasn't just a mustache twirling villain. This was the first episode where I didn't figure out who did it before the first commercial break, so that's progress. The scene where they were pulled over was very tense and realistic for some people. I hope the show keeps improving.
  16. I hadn't thought about Sea Queen being Macy Gray but the body type is consistent. I also thought it could be Shirley Bassey, but why would she do this show? The person in that costume sounded like she was having trouble with dentures or maybe the mask. I was shocked she wasn't in the bottom two. At times Husky sounds like LL Cool J, but why would he do this show? Never heard of Tyler Posey, but he handled himself well.
  17. I don't think Ken is being fed answers either. I also believe he was being forced to play dumb over the years. One of the main reasons is because I got two of the ones Ken got this season. And I'm generally no good without a clue or two. But I recognized Anthony Anderson's voice. And after the clue package I thought Billie Jean King as soon as she started singing. So not impossible for Ken. I thought the Hawk sounded a bit like Rod Stewart, but Bryan Adams also sounds like Rod Stewart sometimes so it could be him. Everything about Robin's performance felt "off". Was he lip syncing, or just really singing out of his range?
  18. Finally caught this last night. It was cute, the Sandler girls are talented. Like others, it was unbelievable that no one watched the video before it played at the Lydia's bat mitzvah, that's just not how real life works. And yes, Lydia should have been done with Stacey but they are 13 year old girls and that actually felt accurate. Little Mateo was just adorable.
  19. Ah, that's right, continuity, got to love it.
  20. I am still enjoying this show, although they need to figure out who they are and soon. I had the second episode on while I was in the kitchen and I knew it was the partner as soon as I heard him talking. I also immediately knew who the killer was last week. That's okay if that is what the show is going for, not a mystery "who dun it" but watching how our guy proves it. I am enjoying the sibling relationship. Why did he need a ride everywhere, what happened to his car? I wonder if this show could become a Murder She Wrote type show. I do love that JLM's character is not a jerk. I don't hate the ex-wife but the relationship is not necessary, they could just be colleagues. Hopefully it hits its stride soon.
  21. So sad about Michael Gambon. I really enjoyed him in Cranford and Wives and Daughters. So much talent, he'll be missed.
  22. Currently doing another re-watch, this one with mom, who never watched the show when it was airing. We're in season 7, Two Weeks Out was the episode we just finished. Took mom a while to warm up to the Santos/Vinick story, she just wanted to stay with the White House staff. We agreed that CJ was one of the dumbest choices for COS. CJ became COS and her communication style became, "do it because I said so, I'm the COS and you have to do whatever I say because I'm the COS". Neither of us ever warmed to Kate Harper mainly because she came along and the totally awesome Nancy McNally, who was her boss, disappeared. Now mom is just watching each remaining episode asking is this the one where Leo dies? But she really did come around on the campaign trail, so it wasn't all bad at the end.
  23. So I just caught The Birds last night and realized I had never seen it from the beginning before they get to Bodega Bay. It is such an inferior Hitchcock movie, in my opinion. The mystery of why the birds attack and stop is just frustrating. What was interesting is that Rod Taylor and Tippi Hedren were the same age, Jessica Tandy, in a rarity for Hollywood, was actually old enough to be Rod Taylor's mother and young enough to be Veronica Cartwright's mother. Rod Taylor was 19 years old than Veronica. it's a huge age gap but not an impossible one for siblings. Poor Suzanne Pleshette got the short end of the stick with this movie, she was great.
  24. I agree. I jump back in towards the end of season 6, (love those last two episodes) and enjoy most of season 7. There were only a few duds during season 7 in my opinion.
  25. I read the book and I am so looking forward to seeing this in theaters, but man if the book didn't have me rooting for Snow, that's just wrong. Cast looks strong.
