  1. I expected to ff through the segment but even though I'm older (50's) my musical tastes run the gamut so thought I'd give it a sample. Turns out I enjoyed her appearance. Then once I googled her discovered it was Bebe that recorded Meant to Be with Florida Georgia Line so I was familiar and didn't realize it. And yes, I realize that was the 2nd song she did during the episode but for some reason did not put 2 + 2 together at the time.
  2. Wow, where is that reported? I've only seen that she hasn't returned, not that she or anyone else has announced a departure.
  3. this is exactly what I thought from the get go. I'm not generally one to speculate but so much of Maddie's posts seem to refer to long term slights (ie "whole life", "finally having the freedom", "those who were always") that I immediately thought Meri may be back on the active Janelle-Hate-Train again (one of Maddie's "few safety nets"). One's mom (usually) is, was, and always will be a reliable "safety net".
  4. Two kitchens would also be extremely valuable (required) to anyone living Kosher.
  5. That's because coral can NOT grow inside a person! A scrape or cut from coral can certainly introduce some nasty bacteria which can quickly progress to a nasty infection but a human body is quite an inhospitable environment for coral... the salinity is wrong, the temperature is wrong, the nutrients are wrong, the light is wrong and that's just the very minimal building blocks for an oceanic lifeform.
  6. I like his tattoo and love that it showcases meaningful images that shaped him. (and this comes from someone who rarely understands the allure of body art and finds most of it to be unappealing)
  7. Actually many student loans (including federal) can be used toward housing and other living expenses as these are included in the "Cost of Attendance" or COA. There are also grants and scholarships that can be utilized for living expenses. https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types
  8. Nope not at the B&B. Hosting weddings was one of the ways Kody could see bringing in revenue, Mary grabbed onto that thought bubble as leverage and justification. I don't really believe Mary ever had any intention of putting any real effort into running it as a B&B, she just dangled all her "reasons" to convince the rest of the family to support her in her quest to acquire her "family" home. Aspyn's wedding was on the grounds at at La Caille restaurant in Sandy, Utah with the reception in their greenhouse.
  9. I mostly agree with your overall point in that Warren was the appropriate winner of this challenge. Just a minor point of order; he did not "ignore" the gag per se, his gag failed. You do acknowledge the fact towards the end of your comment but the focus of your argument seemed to be that he "ignored" rather than "failed".
  10. could he have been paying homage to the Thompson colors?
  11. I probably should have read the accompanying text with the pics.... Mitch's mom made the hats and indeed Mitch's dad did wear a kilt.
  12. Kody was wearing a kilt. I'm guessing Aspyn requested the moms wear hats. I wish there were pics of his family or at least parents. I'm betting the mom(s) also wore hats and the dad wore a kilt. My only unfavorable observation is that Meri's dress (and shoes) clashed with the rest of the family's attire - she probably should have worn a solid colored dress rather than the splash pattern she chose and the color wasn't quite right either. Personally, I like the kilts, hats, and color scheme. From the brief glimpse, I applaud Aspyn and Mitch and wish them all the best.
  13. yep, i know a lot of people who make and drink a concoction daily. Like everything needs to be in moderation because excess can have detrimental effects. And most say for full benefits should use unfiltered with the mother. 14. Stainless steel drink bottle - ack... I'm weird but they are just too freaking cold for me!! (I don't like ice cream for this reason either). Too cold to hold, most definitely too cold to put up to my lips and drink out of. I once tried to use a stainless steel straw with iced tea - holy moly, i thought my lips were going to fall off they felt so frozen, it was down right painful to me. So it's glass or plastic for me. I wasn't implying Janelle or anyone else would use mason jars for environmental reasons. That's not why I use them either. As mentioned I use them because it appeals to my frugal side. I simply mentioned the Reduce, Reuse to show an overlap for anyone who may appreciate it from a different perspective.
  15. I love mason jars and use them for all sorts of things, including their original intended purpose. I am frugal and utilize most things in a variety of ways so I have no problem when people use possessions outside of their initial purpose, in fact I appreciate the resourcefulness of new and creative uses for seemingly utilitarian objects. Since we are talking beverages; I love that I can throw in my shake ingredients, close the lid, shake, and wa la... Moreover, I can take it in to work, store it in the fridge and whenever I feel like drinking it just shake it up. My kids use them to when they make chocolate milk or any other drink mix. So yeah, give me a mason jar any day! And for any of you environmentally conscious folks out there, this one fits both REDUCE and REUSE
  16. I for one appreciate Maddie's post. We seem to have become a very critical and judgemental society. Perhaps we have been for quite sometime and it's just that social media has made it much more prevalent and visible. My take is that she has every right to be proud and if she is comfortable in her skin all the more power to her. After the sting of the initial criticism wore off, she found her voice and mustered up the courage to post again and took the opportunity to highlight a tendency for people to cast disparaging remarks regarding one's body (most especially if it's a female body). In this country, as long as one does not have a direct negative impact on another they should be free to be who they are. One's body shape, for the most part, certainly does not fall into the category of having a direct negative impact on another. So, good for Maddie for wearing her baby pooch, stretch marks, slightly sagging skin, and less perky breasts with pride!
  17. aghhh, I thought they had come to their senses and decided against this ghastly idea! I'm probably not a core DWTS audience member since I generally only watch the dances, packages, and scores (little if any of the critiques and only rarely the interview) of the celebs that I like and whomever is (was) dancing with Mark. But regardless I will NOT watch Juniors not even in ff mode.
  18. Sounds heavenly to me. I'm planning my exit from the big city i currently live near. Utah, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri are on my short list. Big Cities and the coasts are actually significant detractors in my book.
  19. WHAT??? That's horrifying! (Referring to the Direct TV channel... Impulsively posted and forgot to quote the post for context)
  20. Hmm, this confirms it, even though I've never lived there, apparently in my soul, I'm actually a Texan. ;) Although, I admit I have an unreasonable aversion to sweet tea so maybe I'm just part Texan.
  21. It's already been requested. Don't know if more voices would make it quicker. I think I liked the post.
  22. Yep regional dialect, sometimes referred to as the Rocky Mountain dialect which in and of itself is a subset of a Western dialect. It is commonly spoken through out the entire region so disparaging their pronunciations and casting them as lazy, uneducated, idiotic, etc is actually assigning those attributes to a large population of the US. It's no more right or wrong than any of the other regional linguistic idiosyncrasies one finds throughout the entire english speaking world - we certainly wouldn't call for southerners, Bostonians, Texans, midwesterns, or even Canadians or Brits (both of which also boast a variety of regional dialects) to "learn the language!" (Well perhaps we would in jest with our friends but certainly not with hostility and judgement to the average person on the street.) This link highlights almost every linguistic "fault" called out on this board... https://www.heraldextra.com/news/local/words-you-need-to-know-how-to-pronounce-in-utah/collection_5a15ad72-88eb-5feb-bbb4-18baff315b98.html Disclosure: I happen to find the many regional characteristics, languages, cultures, etc fascinating and though different from my own, I believe they are just as valid and worthy of respect as what I grew up with. As a country, we are banging the tolerance drum so why would linguistic and other regional differences be immune to this enlightenment?
  23. I think pickleinthemiddle is referring to when they first moved to Vegas and were renting while they looked for homes and waited while they were being built. Meri was across town in the largest of the 4 rentals.
  24. I see it as them both being responsible for issues in their relationship. Meri, however, is wholly and completely responsible for getting caught up and pursuing "Sam" in the catfishing debacle. So I took this comment as an acknowledgement that polygamy (and the large family) had provided a kind of buffer that allowed them to mask their dysfunction rather than admit to it and confront it. I thought most if not all states had medical requirements in order to attend public schools. It seems like almost every year I'd get a notice that before my kids could start the school year they needed proof of this or that medical exam and/or vaccine, and good gracious if they were involved in a sport - it was even more involved. My pediatrician wouldn't give a medical sign off of anything without a full check-up so even if I did have an aversion to doctors, in order to be in the public school system my kids had to go in at least one a year. Plus my daughter received a scoliosis check during her gym class for I think 5 or 6 contiguous years. They've been in the Vegas public school system plenty long enough to have had these checks and balances in place. I think they are behaving in a responsible manner in that they are consulting with a board-certified medical specialist about exploring possible treatments in the interim since according to the doctor it is too early for surgical intervention. He went further to state that the therapy they were interested in would not hurt nor further the progression, in fact may provide some side benefit in that it would provide a mechanism for strengthening her core and help ensure she does not become brace dependent. Additionally, I heard nothing that gave any hint they were doing it out of concern for how much surgery would cost, in fact, the boot camp is quite costly and most likely not covered by insurance if it is classified as alternative. (the following comment is not directed at you @Galloway Cave simply quoting you as a jumping off point) ahh, and that is why one should not jump to conclusions and start spouting off and demonizing the Browns before the episode even airs.
  25. Thanks @Gothish520 for the recap!
