This seems to be the biggest issue with season 14 so far. There are two many side stories and none of them particularly interesting or making much sense. Whereas the main storyline, Michael, is almost ignored. And I realize Cas and Jack cannot be in every episode. But where are they? Has anyone even mentioned them? It's all so disjointed now. It's like that children's' game we used to play where one writes a line of a story and folds the paper and passes along to the next who writes another line of the story. At the end we read the story in fits of laughter because it made no sense. I think that's what they're doing in the writers' room.

Did the djinn see something? Or was he surprised his touch didn’t seem to have its usual effect? Hmmmmm... interesting. ??

The thing for me when it comes to the brothers is character. Over thirteen years and despite some horrid and uneven writing, I think most of us know the brothers pretty well. It's not just that Dean is a leader... it's that from what we've seen as he's moved from 20s to 30s and now approaching 40, Dean is a natural born leader. He takes charge right away. Oh, he’s bossy and he yells. He can be impulsive and reckless. But he has leadership in his bones. The bunker hunters wouldn't call him Chief or sit in awe as he rallied the troops. They'd jump to attention, probably not like him very much sometimes, but would follow his orders because they made a lot of sense. Dean would earn their respect and loyalty. I realize Sam is getting a lot of flack here and much of it is unfair. But Sam is really not a leader. That doesn't mean he can’t lead. It doesn't mean he's not smart or as good as his brother. You either have it in you or you don't. (I'm certainly not a leader type). It’s just not in his bones. Leaders mostly rise to the position naturally. And sometimes they're evil and bad (Lord of the Flies). Leaders emerge through strength of character and a commanding personality. Sam is being forced into the position by script and Dabb. Even Jared seems awkward. The bunker hunters and their body cams and being sent out on hunts - well, it's bloody boring. We don't care. Sam is being shoved into something that doesn't fit his personality and for what? A boring storyline of redshirt hunters milling about OUR bunker? And in the process, rather than bolstering the character, they’re criminally woobifying Sam. Poor baby. Not sleeping. Grew a beard. Sighs and deep breaths. Puckered brow. Mommy’s so worried about him. Fretting about hunters on hunts all over the place. This isn’t Supernatural. This is soap...everyone must be woobyfied. No wonder viewers tuned in and then turned off this episode. A girl wandering a graveyard at night and attacked by a ghost. Wow – let’s keep watching this gem. It’s so original ..NOT! I’ll admit the episode got better and viewers should’ve stuck with it. If you FF through Mobby (with Mary in Cas' trenchcoat and Bobby sporting Michael's hat FFS!!!) scenes it wasn’t bad at all and we learned something quite important (I think?)

I really hope Mr. Dabb has been called up in front of network execs. Supernatural needs to be put back on track and fast. Good or bad episodes aside - we want the brothers, TFW, hunting and getting themselves into pickles like they've done for 13 yrs. It's the MO for this series. This isn't and will never be an ensemble series. Don't force outside storylines down our throats.

I think the landscape of TV watching is changing. I think networks will move to a Netflix type format with 8-10 episode seasons streamed so we can binge. The notion of one new episode each week is dying out. The major networks need to move with the times and also tracking such as Nielsen will be obsolete. Viewers tend to record so they can FF thru annoying commercials. I don’t hardly watch live any more. Product placement will become the norm (a la Truman show). In terms of Supernatural, if we get 15 it’ll be a shortened season. The boys’ reps are gearing up for new gigs as we speak.

I think a lot of it is the actress. She gives off cold and distant no matter the script. There is no chemistry with either of her sons. I hope she stays at Jodi's or wherever the hell they've sent her for a few episodes. She can nurse Bobby and send encouraging texts to Sammy. It's getting ridiculous. Grief beard, sighs and perpetual furrowed brow... poor baby. Come on! this man's been through way worse. I'm a Dean girl, but I appreciate Sam too. They're both flawed to hell. And that's why I enjoy them. The Winchester brothers' dynamic has always been raw and messy but they got things done. Neither one needs to be organizing anyone or anything. This isn't an ensemble show , don't start with it now. Get the clutter out of the bunker. Let Sam and Dean deal like they always have.

0.3 - Bloody hell

The hunters in the bunker are reminiscent of The Potentials storyline in Buffy (one of which was Felicia BTW). The Potentials were annoying and killed the series in the end. And that's what the bunker hunters and furrowed brow Chief Sam are doing. They're dull and predictable and seeing miscellaneous people milling about our bunker is disconcerting. It's kind of funny in a way, because Dabb and his writers are inadvertently making Dean and his protected meatsuit and the fact that supernatural monsters have been altered a much more intriguing storyline. They didn't show us hardly any Michael in early episodes, but he obviously was busy. And he's clever (a talent missing from most Big Bads of late). He's messed with monsters to confuse hunters. I remember Jensen saying something about everything in Dad's journal being thrown out the window now. And I'm assuming he's protected his Dean meatsuit for future use. But where is Michael? And who's body is he wearing? He's surely burning through them. Wouldn't he be leaving a trail? Wouldn't Sam's laptop flag this kind of occurrence ? Anyway I see a bright spark on a dim horizon. I think Michael will return to Dean. And I'm hoping for a battle of minds and strength of character. (It won't happen, of course. But I am crossing fingers).

I thought the actress who played the daughter was pretty good. There’s been some dodgy acting on this show of late, but this episode was ok. Even the djinn nurse didnt go overboard in the evil department. If Michael has in fact protected his meat suit from harm, then he’s grown attached and planning on returning. Hope so Dean’s so pretty. Who wouldn’t want to possess him?

Well my interest is piqued. Michael has protected his meat suit from his creations. Smart.

I don’t think this is the scene they meant, tho. Somewhere in my brain I seem to remember it was a scene where they’re arguing and they switched lines. They approached bob singer, who was directing I don’t think this is it. i think the article captures Dean fairly well, his ability to find joy in a violent dangerous world is something I love and respect about the character

Demon Dean had to be cured to make way for episode 200. Michael had to eject so we can have Doofus Dean at Halloween. Dean’s arcs need to be timed better, they might last longer. ?

Sorry... I don’t like Jensen all covered up. ?

You're eye is just drawn to him because he's always "on." Yeah, he's always Dean and when they're in the midst of peril, he's coiled like a spring. I noticed in the AU desolate scenes when standing talking with another character - Dean's eyes are darting around, looking for danger the whole time. Of course there's probably 40 camera and production crew 2 metres away but Jensen has Dean scouring a (fake studio) horizon. And he always looks behind him when creeping through a creepy house with his flashlight. I've seen so many horror movies where the character just stares ahead as they creep along. But natural instinct would have us looking over our shoulder too. And he listens and reacts when another character is speaking. He doesn't just stand there waiting to say his next line, or overreacts to whatever the other actor is saying. So many little things.... but they draw us in and make Dean so real. That's why I get so miffed when Jensen and the awesome Dean Winchester get shafted.

I remember being dead keen on them acknowledging Dean's 40th birthday. Now I hope and pray they don't. It'll just be open season on how old and decrepit he is. :(

Tamra is rock hard. Inside and out. I do not like her one bit. I'd be checking for knives in my back all the time. And I agree with whoever pointed out that without this Shannon drama there'd be no drama at all. The Jamaica trip is a bit of a bore so far. It really does seem like production is working hard to manufacture the drama. They should just let it happen naturally.

Thing is - they've fallen into the trap of Bad Guys/Gals = haughty, sullen super warrior. Why can't we have an intelligent, charismatic, mischievous baddie with a sense of humour for once? The snot faced, puddle deep bad guys/gals we get on this show are all cut from the same predictable cloth. And anyway Hoodie Spear Gal will probably be totally woobie by next episode. Maybe she'll get consumption too. Jensen as Michael Dean would've been a shot in the arm. And I honestly do hope Jensen speaks out. He was excited for Michael. He said he was surprised how long it would last (surprised because his arcs generally don't last five minutes). He's got to be miffed. And if Jensen does speak out I don't think it would affect his ability to find another gig because he's deemed 'difficult'. He's been nothing but professional, hardworking and classy throughout the series. I'm sure his reputation precedes him.

I don't live in the US, but I watch loads of movies filmed there. And I can understand the folk from other countries getting the impression everyone lives in mansions with swimming pools. No matter the profession of the characters in the movie or TV show, no matter the storyline - they inevitably reside in huge homes and drive expensive cars. Either that or massive city apartments with floor to ceiling windows and gigantic terraces. When I first came to the States for a holiday many years ago I was quite take aback at the ramshackle homes. I really never expected to see that.

I've just got a hankering for the way it was in the beginning because I hate the way it is now. Boring, predictable, messy plot driven drivel cluttered with characters.

I don't know if this notion is popular or unpopular, but I'd really like Kripke to return to write the final episode and maybe act as showrunner for the final season, which probably will be a shortened (8-12 eps) season 15 (unless 14 really tanks). It needs to be brought full circle to where it all began. Two brothers in a cool car driving across the land saving people, hunting things. You know. the family business.

Let's face it, it’s boring and predictable and repetitive now. The Michael Dean scenes probably lasted 10 minutes when added together.
