That's why I was careful to add "I associate it"!

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
jhlipton replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
I agree with what @Sakura12 said -- they actually added a new character that WORKED with the rest of the cast, and had a good storyline. There were a few missteps (a bit of "Just Tell Him/Her" fails) but overall, fun to watch. Grimm made the mistake of pushing aside its best actors/actresses in favor of the worst. And the storyline sucked for the last few seasons as well. -
The two main characters you refer to are "Halle Berry Black" and SE Asian. (Oddly enough, both the Black men -- one main, one recurring -- are "Denzel Washington Black". Funny how that works, isn't it?) I like the show enough to keep going, but I have to call out colorism where I see it. Moreover, I associate "Desi" with Indian, and Kash has been pretty emphatic that he's Pakistani, not Indian. (It looks like there may be a "Bollywood" scene coming up, which, yuck. That would not fit any of the characters! I only finished Episode 3, so I'll try to stay unspoiled for any romance twists.

Two Sentence Horror Stories - General Discussion
jhlipton replied to AnimeMania's topic in Two Sentence Horror Stories
t least you got one episode. Some stupid medieval show played in its timeslot this week and I had to watch On Demand. Commercials -- yuck! It was pretty obvious what happened one the sick kid found the Necronomicon book of "research", but it was still fun (and creepy) to watch. -
The Expanse Casting: That's Not How I Saw Them In My Head
jhlipton replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Expanse
Since we're getting off the subject of The Expanse, I've replied in Small Talk. -
True, but it's easy for those not affected by racism to be complacent -- it's not their fight, after all. "America had a Black president -- we must be living in a post-racial society!" is a sentiment used by those the "I am not a racist" crowd. Often the same ones who quote Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech seriously.

I thought of Swedish Meatballs (which have gravy), but most people are going to say sauce.

Yuck. I grew to tolerate Contantine, but not like him. This is disappointing. -
The Expanse Casting: That's Not How I Saw Them In My Head

And the ones that are already in tend to be lighter, because of past biases. -
Not exactly the same place. The montage of the 22 falls was brilliant! But I agree, it was way too hard! =================================== Alyssa was the only woman to make it up the Warped Wall, as opposed to several on other city finals. But I think that may have more to do with the 4th obstacle than with the women -- Crank It Up is far more difficult, especially for the women, than Coconut Climb.

S06.E07: Brooklyn Nine Neyo Game Night
jhlipton replied to peeayebee's topic in Hollywood Game Night
Terry and Melissa play main characters, Dirk (who doesn't look a THING like his dad -- LOL) and Joel play Hitchcock and Scully. Kyle plays a cop (Teddy) who's been on less often than Doug Judy, The Pontiac Bandit. -
I love your name. One of the bakers on the British Baking Show would say it all. the. time! But, yeah, I noticed that too. Very unrealistic, as was his not getting into trouble for it.

Someone shouted :West Coast!" when this was announced and the EP sort of danced around it, you might say.

Sara and Charlie and Nora and Zari Cross-Universe Adventures (their names even almost rhyme -- the theme song writes itself!) -- that is a show I would watch the hell out of. Brandon and Courtney leaving just sucks. -
The Expanse Casting: That's Not How I Saw Them In My Head
jhlipton replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Expanse
Lyndie was good, but Nicole was so much better. And Lyndie is of Caribbean, definitely NOT Nigerian! (Here's a page of Nigerian models). -
I like to say that I am a fountain of useless information.

I don't know if anyone still follows this topic (I didn't), but for anyone who cares: It seems Beharie wasn't kicked out, or anything like that, and that there was a good reason for her not to go to conventions: she was battling an autoimmune disease.

A (2 day late) birthday present!!! Yay!

For me, that's what made the series good -- we were like Blackthorne, trying to figure out what was being said.

"a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined" Well, we've never seen that before. This wasn't on my must-watch list before, and is even less so now.

The Potential you're thinking of is Rona. Good memory!!!

In other news, Monica Owusu-Breen is "planning" a "reboot" of (more of a sequel to) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (it will more likely be called [Some name] the Vampire Slayer). The usual suspects are upset because the new Slayer will be African-American -- apparently, they've already forgotten the First Slayer!

I wouldn't be surprised if Chopra is dropped due to her comments about Kashmir -- she tweeted in favor of the Indian Army, at a time when tensions are high. Not a good caqll for a UN Goodwill Ambassador. But this looks amazingly diverse. Very cool.
