  1. In case anyone is wondering what's going on with Johnny Damon: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mlb-johnny-damon-dui-arrest-body-cam-footage-blue-lives-matter-182520064.html
  2. Not in the least. The rioting mostly takes place in a smallish area of downtown at night, and has really slowed down the past few months. It doesn't affect the vast majority of Portlanders of all, much less those of us in the suburbs. The average price of a Portland area home is almost $500,000, and houses don't stay on the market for long. It really doesn't take much effort to make a decent buck for a realtor here. One of our neighbors who was a police officer got into real estate with no prior experience, because he could make more money doing that. West Linn and its neighbor Lake Oswego are two of the most upscale cities in the metropolitan area, and the choice of place to live for most of the Trail Blazers. For where Chris was, his (former) house wasn't worth that much, and is definitely in one of the older sections in town.
  3. As a child that got drug from door to door every Saturday morning, I thank your mom profusely. I would much rather have been at home watching cartoons. I can imagine and have lived through a lot of what the Rod children have experienced, but I can't imagine doing it all without food. I truly hate these people.
  4. I mean, I agree with you in theory and principle, but they could put out a "movie" of every time Daveed Diggs descends the staircase as Thomas Jefferson, and have it only be that, and I'd watch it just as many times as I've watched Hamilton. That man has charisma. I am soooooo disappointed Rhea Seehorn didn't get a nomination. She killed it this year. BCS just doesn't get the nominations and hardware that that show deserves (at least in my head).
  5. My 15 year old watched this with us last night. (She loves Ken and James, can't stand "Mark" (for some reason she won't call him Brad, just Mark.)) She liked that it "was way easier than Jeopardy", and could answer a fair amount of questions from the final round for the challengers, and almost none for James. She also pointed out that the challenger's questions seemed shorter than the ones that were given to James, so yeah, we think so in this family, too. She didn't like the format of the show, and several times used her best Joey Tribbiani game show announcer voice to say "Let's play Bamboozled."
  6. My husband won $300 on the game. I'm fine with it. 😁
  7. I see what you mean. And then there was the one from France (Suryia Bonaly??) whose program seemed to only be there to lead up to the inevitable backflip. Maybe I don't mean artistry, I'm not sure what I mean. My mom grew up loving skating, and we'd always watch it on TV and go to the tours every year, and it was exciting. Tonya also practiced at my local mall growing up, and we'd watch her a lot. (Don't count this against me, I used to have to help her in my job, and it was always a fight to NOT help her.) I haven't watched since I left the house, and watched the entire ladies program the other night, out of sheer I just wanted to veg out in front of the TV and there was literally nothing else on, and was highly disappointed. Or maybe bored. I watched the last 2 competitors only of the men's program today, and it just seemed much better, even with the falling.
  8. Ok, I haven't watched figure skating for a long, long time. Think Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding. What happened to women's skating in the US? That was pretty different than I remember it. The one who won was boring and just kind of waved her arms around in between jumps (along with a lot of them, IMHO) and the one that went last that a lot of you seemed to be rooting for, I feel bad for also, because she seemed like she actually had some artistry. Is it just me, or did the artistry leave the sport, or is it just this group, or am I wrong? I see from reading a few pages that we must be pretty poor compared to Russia/Japan, so I'm hoping this is just a down few years.
  9. My husband and I both thought Ken did a really good job. It was weird, because he wasn't Alex, but I mean, everyone in the world would be weird at this point. He does have a higher pitched voice and seems faster, but watching some of the old games in the few weeks of repeats, Alex sounded so different that we were wondering if commercials were longer now, and they were speeding the episode up, because he was so high pitched and fast. I really thought he struck a respectful tone, and did a great job acknowledging his absence without being totally depressing. It will never be the same without Alex, but we can definitely listen to this. Also, I had to check to see if today was April 1st when they announced Aaron Rodgers as a guest host. My 15 year old was disappointed, and said he would never make it through all the clues, because "he doesn't know what he is talking about, and talks kind of slow", and for sports, she wears jersey #36, because that is Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck all added together.
  10. I was not expecting this, I thought it was just a regular episode, and had no idea what Derry Girls was, and almost turned it off. But now after binging all 2 seasons (which didn't really take that long), I'm so happy to have watched this.
  11. It is behind. There was a game that was supposed to be played on Sunday that got cancelled due to COVID and it was moved to tonight, which was supposed to bump The Voice to Thursday. But they still have issues, and it isn't going to be played until tomorrow, so The Voice is back on.
  12. From what I've read (American here) it is very middle/working class to say "I beg your pardon", and the correct upper class term is "wot/what".
  13. Not as big as Willie Taggart buyout money. 😁 Go Ducks!!
  14. Mine too. And Vergangenheit was one of my favorite episodes of any TV show, ever. Judging by the lack of response on this one, we might be a pretty small minority, though. I'm not a real Margaret fan at all, but Helena Bonham Carter is just killing in the role for me, and somehow fictional Margaret is one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite of seasons 3 and 4.
  15. I think it has to do with how little I'm actually paying attention to every episode. The renaming the neice was about the only storyline that grabbed my attention, and yeah, crazy that they did that in real life.
  16. After 3 episodes, the only astronauts that I can look at and know who they are would be John Glenn and Ken Cosgrove. And Ken Cosgrove is Ken Cosgrove, not whichever one he is supposed to be. I think after this one I can tell Alan Shepherd and Gordo Cooper. I'm not sure I'll remember them by next episode, though. I'm guessing that isn't a good thing.
  17. Imaginary Dragons. I hate them so much, I refuse to call them by their correct name.
  18. But he has pocket squares! And fountain pens! Certainly that counts for something?
  19. Wow that sucks about the Disney free trial, but I guess that I would have paid money to go see it in the theater with my daughter, so if I have a one month option, I will definitely pay to see it. I'm sorry for all of the people that had to listen to other people sing along. The crowd in the city I live in "got" it, and only sang along with the small part that the audience is supposed to participate in. We had 3rd row tickets, and I would have been livid if I had paid that much only to hear someone sing the whole time.
  20. This wasn't my favorite episode. I didn't know anything about Kaiseki, and honestly, I'll totally agree with the people that say they'd probably leave hungry. I also thought that Niki pretty much wanted all of them to go jump off a cliff for not executing perfectly. I just found a series on Netflix called Chef's Table, and Niki - n/naka was featured on one of the episodes. I have to say, I liked her MUCH better on there, and am glad I watched it. But I still think that out of all the chefs and restaurants featured on there, hers is about the last one I'd want to go to, because it just doesn't seem to be my type of cuisine. Which probably isn't saying much, because if you gave me a free meal at Noma, I'd probably decline.
  21. I only watched the first 2 episodes, and genuinely could not remember if Sean had been on or not, because the Jake and Harley and Junior the asshat show is just too much for me. Good to know. I had 4 episodes sitting on my DVR, and they are all deleted. I think the show jumped the shark for me a season or two ago, but this year hit the tipping point of becoming unwatchable for me. I'll come here for the discussion, but I'm looking at the number of posts, that's only going to take a few minutes of my time.
  22. This has turned into the "men who can't catch crab go poach off of those who can" hour for me. What I'm wondering is, are they really that inept at catching the crab, or is it producer-driven for a story line? And if it is, why oh why would they want themselves on TV looking that dumb and asshole-ish?
  23. That was horrible for me. The winning design looked like streetwear for cults. The bottom two looked like what happens when you want to wear your trashbags as clothes for one group, and then shiny purple poopy diaper shorts for the other. I still don't really care about these people, so I don't know anyone's name, but the lady that steamrolled the other one because she was the streetwear expert is really lucky, because I think a lot of people would have punched her after that.
  24. I didn't even realize there was a whole topic about food on here!! I made a chipotle and fresno chile salsa marinated skirt steak nacho with Cuban black beans with red pepper and onion. Topped it off with a red cabbage and jalepeno slaw and guacamole. I had a bunch of ingredients that I had left over, because there were so many things out of stock from my grocery delivery I couldn't originally make most of what I was going to make for dinner this week and had to wing it, so was down to a bunch of random ingredients.
  25. It's a trap!!!!! My family hasn't talked to me in years, because I left, and I suddenly heard from them. They are being told that this is now the end of the end of the last days (funnily enough, it's been the end of the end of the last days since the 1870's) and it is every JW's job to get as many people to convert before Jehovah comes in to kill everyone that isn't a JW. Let's just say they aren't fun to talk to at all. Even when they're family. Hi all!! My name is Estellasmum, and I lurk. A lot.
