I know this would have made no sense, but I really wanted Longines (sp?) to be in an episode with someone named Keifth. Fred Willard WAS looking really frail in this episode. I had to do a double take toward the end when he was kind of in a side profile because he looked so thin.

Antiques Roadshow (US) - General Discussion
estellasmum replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Antiques Roadshow (US)
It was great that the Rodin was authentic. I was very happy for that man. He was adorable when he found that out and got nervous about getting it safely out of the building and the appraiser told him that they had people to help him with that. -
S01.E05: Golden Era
estellasmum replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath
I wasn't aware of this show until Sunday night, when flipping through the channels, I watched it because there was nothing else better on. Wow that was raw for me. I knew Scientology was crazy, but somehow never put the two and two together to realize how much it has in common with the Jehovah's Witness religion, which I left. The stalking, getting a hold of information, the IRS battles for tax exempt status, fake propaganda, fake statistics, enforced "meetings", the basic slave-labor status of those at headquarters compared to the higher-ups, cutting off of family contact after you leave, empty showcase buildings, repeated pleas for money just punched me in the gut. When Leah was being followed, it brought back so many memories, because when I left, I was followed home from work, so my family could find out where I lived, and then JW's kept showing up outside of my work, and at my door to the point where I would have to be escorted out of the building, and my boss finally found me another job somewhere else, because it was too taxing on everyone to have to deal with the harassment, and I had to break my lease and move out in the middle of the night to not be followed. So many of the things the married couple talked about rang true, like the wife always ratting out the husband (better to have the negative attention on someone else, not you) and Leah saying all she wanted growing up was a friend and to ride her bike just kicked me in the gut. I hope Leah has the courage to keep up the negative press on this organization, and wish that other controlling cults had celebrities that would shine the same light on them. It amazes me what can be done in the name of religious freedom.- 251 replies

Never heard of LLR before, but got an e-mail saying that they were going to be in the staff room of the school that I work at during conferences, and so many of the teachers responded that they were thrilled. I'm an assistant, not a teacher, so I wasn't going to go, but after reading the comments here, I had to wander down and take a look. Hoo Boy! The entire staff room was packed with overpriced frumpy crap. I can never look at the people I work with in the same way ever again! On topic: I never want to see generational pictures of people kissing at a wedding again.

Oh, good. This was all over my Facebook feed posted by several different people. Some people were outraged, others were thrilled. At least if it is rumors (please!) I now know I need to do some spring cleaning on my FB friends. I knew coming here would be a good thing.

http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/02/tlc-is-bringing-back-19-kids-and-counting/ Umm. . . say what? Is it true they're bringing them back? I thought I'd come on here to see what everyone else had to say about this and saw nothing, so I'm hoping this isn't right.

S06.E13: Season 6 Finale Special - Check Up With Dr. Drew, Part 1
estellasmum replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Teen Mom 2
That is why I can't bring myself to watch anything reunion-related and have to rely on you wonderful people here to fill me in on the details. I realized that yelling "Suck it, Sad Panda Face" at my TV wasn't doing my blood pressure any good. -
That kind of made me hope that Suzy Wong wins the whole thing. Now THAT would be a show I would have fun watching.

Dorinda Medley: Berkshires Chic
estellasmum replied to quetzal's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
After watching this episode, I have to say that I like Doris better than I like Dorinda. However, Doris can still get on my nerves, because she also interrupts a lot. -
I won't speak for all kids out there, but working as a sub with late elementary and middle school children across 2 school districts, I've found that everywhere I go, girls generally start getting interested in boys in 5th/6th grade, and by 7th and 8th, boys and boyfriends are the overwhelming topics of conversation/source of consternation. So many girls that age can be so, um, forward. My son was in 5th grade last year and had a "kind of girlfriend", and her best friend passed him a note with 35 reasons he should not be interested in his "kind of girlfriend" and should be interested in her, and a large rift occurred with a whole bunch of girls taking sides, leaving my poor son bewildered. That was just one of many incidents involving girls and arguments and boys.

This. I work in a school, and while I, also, have not knowingly come across a transgender student, I am grateful to everyone on this topic who has helped educate all of us. I try to do my best to educate myself about areas in which I can help relate better to the individual needs of some of my students, (such as autism, ADHD, homelessness, ODD, PANDAS, etc) and it is nice to have some information about a subject beforehand, rather than scrambling to educate myself after I end up with a student who needs my understanding and support in areas that I know nothing about. (Edited because I don't think anyone needs to read what I've said 3 times in one post.)

Thanks for the info as to why Matt wasn't on the NW. And ITA that Sig had to have known beforehand what that call was going to be about. He was waaayy too calm for that to be the first time he learned about Jake not coming back for opies. He's going to have a hard time with what is left of what I have always called that frat-boy kindergarten mentality (Speaking of kindergarten, as someone who works with kids in grades K-2, I laughed WAY too hard at Johnathan's kindergarten tirade) crew of the Saga, who are used to feeling nothing but (justified) disdain for their captain or whatever group of leftover deckhands that weren't able to get jobs on other boats. I'm sure Jake is very competent at the actual mechanics of being a captain, but doesn't strike me as having the air of supreme authority of a Sig that is going to be needed to keep that rag-tag crew of a boat in line. I understand how badly he wants to captain a ship, but that isn't going to be an ideal job for anyone, and all I see it as is one big set-up for failure for almost anyone who would have taken that job. I just wanted to yell at Jake to run away from that job as fast as he could. I hope it turns out better than I think it will for him. Now that I've figured out why Matt wasn't out, does anyone know why Andy isn't out for opies?

For me, I compare it to my experience with Revenge. It was a once-good show that started to go slightly downhill and then went on hiatus. And then I forgot about it after it came back until I have a look at the master list of shows and lo and behold The Blacklist has activity again.. So I come here to see what is going on, and there isn't much good being said about the show. And I watch an episode just to see if you all are right, and you are, and I stop watching. I'm perfectly content to check in on this forum every now and again to see if I'm missing anything, and nothing on here makes me feel that I am. That and I don't really enjoy watching Megan Boone.

No. I haven't seen the original Morse series, so other than what's alluded to here, I'm unaware of all the bad that is going to come into his life, and I actually find the nurse character (I can't even remember her name) to be quite bland and boring instead of the calm before the impending doom of the rest of his life. I hope something happens to her to make her go away, and am also shipping a Joan Thursday romance. I think she'd be great to get him out of his semi-hermatic home existence.

So today in the news there is an item about a guy who fell asleep and was lightly made fun of on ESPN suing them and other entities for $10M in damages due to mental anguish . What does this have to do with Deadliest Catch? I contend that we can get together to file a class-action suit against Discovery for mental anguish for subjecting us to all things Elliott in this episode for about $10 billiion. I never want to see his tongue (We can never un-see that, people) or hear about his pee again. It literally made me scream at the TV and turn the channel, twice. I'm not sure if I will watch DC again without the benefit of seeing the comments on this board. Oh, and another thing? Kidney infection my ass.
