  1. Twenty-five dollars a gallon is standard for name brand paint here in Canada unless you want to chance the crappy stuff at Wal-Mart. The price of the coffee was $5.49, Lip read it off the glass as he was walking in. Still too much in my book, I'm more of a Tim Horton's coffee-and-donut type myself. The sweet balances out the bitter just fine.
  2. My first thought was Galactica's "All Along the Watchtower."
  3. I thought Adele was breaking up way too much during the "Africa" sketch until we got to Heidi's deadpan delivery of "You can feel it in your stomach." I guess she knew what was coming up.
  4. Strand sacrificing Sanjay was a welcome return to the duplicitous anti-hero from early seasons but I don't think it's gonna stick. I missed that guy. This show can be so stupid sometimes. They have a cattle run where they can poke walkers safely from the sides but they open the gate at the end instead? C'mon, show! Just as bad was the female ranger who gets taken down by a walker casually walking up to her. Gosh, if only she'd had a gun or something. Where did all the molasses come from and why wasn't the floor inside the storage unit covered with it? I'm hanging on because I want to see what Morgan 2.0 is going to be like.
  5. Wow, this show looks expensiiiiive! So transporters are now small enough to be personal but hand weapons are the size of lanterns? Cool disintegration effects, though. Too bad you can't aim with those things judging by how the bad guys couldn't hit our heroes while they were running on a FLAT OPEN PLAIN! So they're still using dilithium after the Burn? Hope they found a way to stabilize the stuff. Nitpicks aside, this show just looks amazing.
  6. Very disappointed we didn't get Starlight using Stormfront's electropower to go nuclear on her ass as was suggested in other posts. Instead it looked like a high school girl gang kicking the crap out of some poor victim. Also apparently Stormfront's eyes are not invulnerable to poking. I wonder if that applies to Homelander, even though he has laser eyes.
  7. Those kind of women exist. Why should they be immune to satire? Nobody is forced to be a golddigger.
  8. I don't think it was time travel so much as travelling to alternate realities. For that matter, I wonder if it all wasn't in Hippolyta's mind. I've never heard of Confederate soldiers* going up against African Amazons. When the space babe with the giant afro showed up, it almost felt like some cheesy 70's blaxploitation movie but I liked how the rest of it played out. *Were they Confederate soldiers? Boers, maybe?
  9. That's it? Brainwave gets taken out by a quick slash and Icicle is so brittle that a collision shatters him? Were the original JSA not even trying? Kind of an obscure Easter egg on that theater marquee, I wonder if many people got it. Eclipso! Starman! Hope the pink pen gets used next season.
  10. No, they certainly were not, but I'm going to assume the hippie guru thing was started early due to Klaus's doing. On the other hand, the long-haired Texan at the poker game whose truck Klaus stole was very much an anachronism in my opinion. No way a good ole boy would'nt have a decent haircut in the early to mid sixties.
  11. Well, that was kind of a fun episode. I was a bit shocked by the gruesome deaths of Cricket and his girl, given the light-hearted tone of parts of this episode, until I realised it was an homage to the slasher films of the 80's (I guess?) It seems odd that Mack could just move into his parents' home like that but we can assume that Deke took care of the details when he started making money. So Mack was too depressed to keep his beard trimmed, but he could keep shaving his head? I know I'm being nit-picky but these are the kind of things I notice in shows (sorry).
  12. Gosh, do you think the boy drawing flowers in his book might be the obligatory gay kid in school? Especially since he's the son of the "family values" villain! What a twist! Seriously, I'm really liking this show so far and am eager to see how they handle the Junior Justice Society idea. Whooo's feeding that owl, though?
  13. It's weird that as soon as he turned to stone, the pixelation stopped. I guess it's only obscene when it dangles.
  14. I think it was to show that she was still loopy from the 12 energy drinks she had before the trip combined with her life-coach training, i.e. telling other people what they're doing "wrong."
  15. So we got a shot of Apu in church. I thought he was being written out because the character was so "problematic." Of course they didn't have him speak since I believe I read that Dan Castellaneta would not be voicing him anymore. ETA: Oops, that was Hank Azaria, not Dan C.
  16. I'm not old enough to really know, but I feel the term "Asian" to be anachronistic for the forties. They would still have been saying "oriental" then or maybe just Chinese, especially to differentiate from the Japanese after the war. I was not expecting the Rock Hudson twist and now I'm wondering how many real-life people and events are going to appear in the show. Gawd, I'm gonna have to do research!
  17. Wow, Zari looked great as Cleopatra! I could almost see the actress in that role if we ever get a new movie about her. Charlie looked like she might have gotten tangled up in a beaded curtain what with all that stuff on her head. Is something going on with Caity Lotz that requires her character to be sidelined so much?
  18. With this second episode, I'm starting to get a "Lodge 49" vibe from this show. I like the offbeat weirdness of it, but I hope we get a handle on what's really going on soon. I'm getting so used to bingeing series on streaming services that I'm not sure if I still have the patience to follow a weekly show that doesn't explain everything immediately.
  19. I love that we can have a different actor every season playing the same character in a new sleeve. I hope they never change Poe, though. He's perfect the way he is. My god, but Quellcrist Falconer is a ridiculous name! It sounds like something out of an old nighttime soap opera like Dynasty or Dallas. I just can't take it seriously.
  20. Really, how stealthy does she have to be when there's already a cameraman and maybe a sound guy moving around the camp? These stealth missions seem stupid to me.
  21. I'm thinking that maybe the Alice in custody is really a disguised Mouse and the real Alice is posing as Beth to mess with Kate. Hey, what if Alice was really Mouse all along exhibiting a dual personality and Beth is really just Beth? Or maybe it's just post-Crisis doppelganger stuff.
  22. Seems to me having so many girls asking for abortions is making the pro-life argument that some people use abortion casually like it was birth control. I would think that teens today are more responsible than that. I believe there are statistics showing teen pregnancy is lower than ever. Does the law in Missouri prevent teens from buying condoms?
  23. E1: What the hell? A wisecracking Dracula vs a sassy nun? This doesn't follow the book at all! And since when is Harker a "bride" of Dracula? This is stupid. E2: Okay, this is more like it. E3: Oh, crap, this is just a "Lucifer" wannabe. I'm out. Note: Someone tell the writers the New World refers to the Americas, not England. I kept expecting the ship to land in Boston.
