  1. Cancelled after this season. This is good. It was time to let it go.
  2. Amber & Chauncey were interviewed by Tori and Aneesa for the Official Challenge Podcast. She called them out for their treatment of her. Part of their excuse was that because of all of the years of doing the Challenge it was rare to come across someone without a hidden agenda and who who wasn't playing a character in the show so their reaction to her was based on their assumption that everyone is basically sketchy and coming from Big Brother enhances the sketch factor. I've forgotten the rest of their 'logic.' It's been a few weeks since I listened to it, but I feel like they apologized to her, which she accepted. We'll see how that actually translates to a future challenge if she ever goes again.
  3. I listened to the Official Challenge Podcast. It's interesting that Tori said that she liked that she knew it was going to be 100 hours going in because that gave them a way to focus and to know there's an end time. She said mentally it was easier because ordinarily they don't know what to expect and what's coming or how long things are going to go on. Devin said Tori was the one who suggested they split the money since they are all her friends and they helped protect her and Devin. The executive producer, Emer, did say that it was Olivia's finger injury that likely caused the hit in the face. They tested it a ton of times, and it was the same set up as the one they did earlier in the season.
  4. No and one of them said something that reinforced the notion that "Max is too good for Kat." (AKA too handsome) I think it might have been her saying something about wearing him down. Either way this relationship is killing the show. I mean, so is Kat's mom. And the new baker...
  5. People were allergic to shellfish in the 80s. I had a friend who was. But I see your point that people were much less hyper-focused on what to feed or not to feed babies in the 80s than they are now. Also I agree it was a terrible episode and if this isn't the last season it may be my last season. I've already cut out The Connors and Call Me Kat because they're just awful. I can cut out a few more.
  6. He talks a bit about this on the podcast. He trains on all possible aspects. He was so devastated after Spies, Lies and Allies because he couldn't run up a hill and that's, in his mind, why he lost. So he spent the off time running. And he said he ran with no headphones or distractions because when you're on the challenge there's no headphones or coaches in his ear. He also said he would order little puzzles from Amazon and work them while on breaks in the gym so he would do tangrams or whatnot. I think overall he's probably more intelligent than most of the other challengers. I'm glad Tori and Devin won. I like them both just fine. I wonder if they're going to start a 'tradition' about giving part of the money away. I really liked that aspect. It says a lot about who they both are.
  7. Aww. Now I want them to get married even more. I loved their dance!
  8. That was my assumption. As an attorney he may work longer hours and not always be available to walk the dog when the dog actually needs to go. I just figured it could go as one of those freaky coincidences.
  9. I wonder if it is a gender thing, the treatment of Kemi by her son. Abishola is a daughter. Of course she has to treat her mother with respect etc because that's what the dutiful daughter does. Dele is still a child so of course he still respects/fears Abishola. Kemi's boy has the arrogance of a son of a severely patriarchal society. I can't remember if Kemi has a daughter too or not. But his attitude is somewhat reminiscent of Dele's father's attitude.
  10. I liked them together too, for all the reasons you say. They both seemed to bring out the best in each other. I'm a little sad the writers decided to go down this route to have them with a fundamental difference about kids. But I was kind of surprised when Marty said they agreed not to have kids. His characterization has never struck me as someone who doesn't want them. Not that there's an obvious sign about wanting/not wanting kids but he's always seemed as though he's going to be the type of dad who is deeply involved with his kids. Like I can totally envision him being a dad. (And now I want that spin off show of Malcolm and Marty living next door to each other with their wives and kids with the occasional pop-in from their parents and Dave and Gemma)
  11. Shrub wrestling with his dad was fun. I hope we get to see his dad again. That's some careful casting to get someone who resembles Shrub so strongly. Kelly has some unique skills. I'm glad Barb is starting to see them.
  12. I instantly thought of Faysal and Kaycee when this happened. He would have told her to just throw through the pain. It was so heartbreaking to see how much he wanted to go on. How he kept saying he would just do double work. I felt so badly for them both. I know a lot can happen in the next 70 something hours, but at the moment it seems like it is Tori and Devin's to lose. (I've probably just jinxed them but they're the team I want to see win at this point I guess.) I wonder if at each overnight portion, will they allow the teams to leave as they arrived with some time penalty for later arrivals or will that provide some bunching. I hope they go like The Amazing Race does and get to keep their first place advantage.
  13. Agreed. It's probably the Project Runway watcher in me, but I was disappointed they used and had access to so much real fabric. I feel like so many of these unconventional challenges in the past had more non-fabric options that they had to make do with. (Sponge dress...) I also hadn't noticed no mini-challenges and that's disappointing now that it's been pointed out. As a whole this season is disappointing. I wonder why they went to MTV. Were they getting too expensive for their previous channel I wonder? I love the show The Challenge and watch it religiously, but they get an hour and a half and that is way too much time for them most of the time. Ru Paul's Drag Race should get the same amount of time.
  14. I liked last night's episode. I'm glad Kelly stood up for Shrub against her useless father and he got his curb painting job back.
  15. Jack McBrayer as an Amish dude who is apparently too stupid to live is even worse. I understand Amish are not always familiar with the ways of the English, but seriously. I, too, hope he isn't staying.
  16. To me, Voit is pretty generic looking. There's nothing distinct about him. I've worked retail in the past. I'm 100% sure I would not remember a random guy who came in to buy whatever he bought, even if he did talk about my dog. If he had a distinctive mole, or a birthmark or anything, maybe I'd remember that, but not generic white guy who bought some supplies. Heck, I had a guy in my office two days ago and we had a whole conversation and if you asked me to describe him I wouldn't be able to. I'd recognize him if I saw him again, but I couldn't describe him.
  17. I've already deleted it form my DVR but I thought Bob's reaction was because Wati was 80 already implying in 20 years he'd likely be dead.
  18. As horrible as this is to admit, although it reflects far more on the state of education in the US in the 80s, I didn't know anything about the Japanese internment camps until that episode of Cold Case. We were never taught that in history class. So I definitely agree, Cold Case was a jumping off point for me to research stuff I didn't know anything about.
  19. Is that what it is do you think? I've asked the podcast folks more than once to explain their bizarre hatred of her since I don't get it at all. They seem to forgive a lot of others but Amber can do no right.
  20. As they have it tagged as an emotional support animal, I suppose the person with the dog needed it for the flight. What I've seen people do in real life is to pay extra for the bulk head row so that there's a larger space between the seat and the bulkhead where the dog could go. I liked that Calvin upgraded them to first class. What I fervently hope is that they don't have a story line where Calvin and Tina have burned through all their retirement money and he has to go back to work for the people that bought his shop and "hijinks ensue."
  21. She said she likes The King's Speech and who knew Colin Powell was that good of an actor.
  22. She shouldn't have asked Jordan to look out for Fessy because she knows he hates Fessy. For those that may or may not follow Challenge stuff outside the show, she hooked up with Fessy 2 months after Jordan broke off their engagement. She admits it and says she did it out of spite and to hurt him. And while it is true that he broke up with her and she had every right to do whatever she wanted, she specifically went out of her way to hurt him because of how she was hurt. Not that Jordan is ever right, but she was a dang fool for thinking he would protect Fessy for her.
  23. It made me so happy Leslie and Mel won the weight challenge. Although it seems like they aren't rewarding Boone and Robin with wins purposefully.
  24. Why not? My late older sister would be 58 and my dad is 85 and my mom is 80. If Dan is in his 60s and Louise went to school with him 88 would be a correct age for Louise's mom. For me, I just didn't realize the Hindenburg disaster was only 85 years ago. It seems like it should be so much longer ago.
  25. On the Official Challenge Podcast, Fessy said exactly that, that Tori and Devin are basically the same when it comes to skill set so that's why they were last. @Lantern7 Thanks to your video I learned that Tori and Jordan posted 3 music covers years ago. They aren't half bad singers and watching them in the videos makes me a little sad about their break up. But not a lot sad because this episode paints him in a not good light at all. The podcast talked about it a bit WRT empathy and not a good look for Jordan.
