  1. I love the whole early of 70’s Laurel Canyon music scene, so I’m loving this. I read the book so I like seeing the characters come alive. And from the shallow end of the pool I’d watch Sam Clayton read the weather report. I’m in.
  2. Since when is an ACL repair something you’re admitted to the hospital for? My husband had to do his twice, both times it was an outpatient procedure? Did football guy have some other medical issue I missed? it made zero sense?
  3. Loved this series. Libby’s monologue at the end really got me, that sense of your choices shrinking as you get older and realizing you can’t go back, gut punch. I am confused though on Toby’s ending. Did Rachel come back, or was that just in Libby’s head?
  4. That was a brutal hour of television. As much as I’ve disliked the Rachel character, I was in tears watching that doctor violate her and then when she was at the support group and was just breaking down, the women circling around her was moving. The fact that no one, no one, in her life realized what was happening was tragic. When she went to that young playwrights house it seemed obvious this woman wasn’t well and they just seemed so cold hearted, it really shook me. Rachel had no truly close support system. The part where she’s lamenting that even bad people, ugly people, etc could find people who loved them but she never had that was just heart breaking to feel that unloved and alone. I’m really enjoying this show.
  5. I don’t believe Nancy for one minute, she admits she was running interference and was the fixer for all of Keith’s women problems, but then on the other hand says she just thought they were doing good work. I don’t know how her ethics got around the fact that she knew Keith was sleeping with students, a lot of them, and it was problematic enough that she was having to go in and do constant damage control. whoever it was that said Nancy liked being revered, and I believe she really liked the money, hit the nail on the head. And when she was sentenced you could see it hit her that all of her excuses didn’t buy her what she thought they would. All the crying she did didn’t seem at all like it was for any of Keith victims, it was for herself. His loyal following reminds me of some young people I know who want to feel very self-important and feel like they are fighting for some noble cause, when really they’re just diluted mini Narcissists and they found their leader in Kieth. It will be interesting to see how many years they will stick with this whole free Keith thing before they realize they’re wasting their lives and getting nothing but older. this episode really struck me with a human damage that Keith and Nancy left behind them. I very much enjoyed this series.
  6. A hospital this size has one IT person? Leah? Umm okay. Of all the stuff not rooted in reality on this show but this one bugs me the most. It’s just stupid.
  7. Oh Monica, if only you had a rich father in law with, I don’t know, his own private helicopter that could have just picked you up to go to the hospital. What a shame. The driving scene was the worst bit of tv I’ve watched in a while. Dutton as governor is just dumb. So no one has issues that the AG is his son, his chief of staff is his daughter and he’s sleeping with a state senator. Sure, I guess only in Montana. It seems like Jamie and female senator (still don’t know her name) are trying to talk reality to him, but I guess he’s the “wall” progress beats itself against so it’s all good. Despite all this shows flaws I do just enjoy watching it for the scenery and the over the top characters. It is not rooted in reality at all but I guess that’s it’s charm.
  8. Super unsatisfying end. I knew Alan was going to die, made sense, I’m okay with that. What would have been realistic and satisfying would be: Alan finally gets thru to mom, mom watches Sam kill Alan and can no longer ignore the horror she is allowing into the world. After Sam dumps Alan’s body he comes home, is in the basement and the police show up. The mom has FINALLY accepted she is partly responsible for Sams issues but also knows he has to finally be stopped. The Patient all along was HER, NOT SAM. The series was very much rooted in reality, we knew Alan wasn’t going to pop up when we thought he was dead and over power Sam, this wasn’t a slasher film. But then they veered so far off reality with the mom that it lost me. Unless we accept she is absolutely so evil and so devoid of normal human reactions that I can’t accept the whole “nope, nothing to see here, just gonna pop a beer and wait for my son to murder another person, oh well what’s a mum to do?”. That was what infuriated me, I thought serial killer v. Therapist was very well done, great acting, but wow huge miss on the end for me.
  9. Am I the only one that thinks Pippa looks about 35 years old. It’s very distracting. What she sees in Wrigley is a mystery, he’s the most obnoxious jerk I’ve ever witnessed on my screen. Why does he think he’s so entertaining? He just grates and how he has any friends is a mystery. Lucy is interesting to me, on the one hand she is just awful: self absorbed, smug, but on the other hand I feel bad for her. I dated a “Stephen” in my twenties and it messed me up for a long time. She doesn’t stand a chance. Just when you think he might be redeemable, he dunks the camera so there is no proof of them being together. Evan and Bree need to move far away and change their phone numbers and not deal with any of these assholes ever again.
  10. Sorry if someone already mentioned but the thing I’m enjoying the least is how they’ve written JP. I get he’s a jerk and treats their sister bad but he is literally a villain 100% of the time with everyone he interacts with. I don’t like one dimensional characters and JP might be the most one dimensional character ever. It just detracts, for me, from my enjoyment with the show.
  11. Can anyone explain Serena’s “fans” in Canada. Are they in support of Gilead? Huh? If so, can’t they just go there, I’m sure Gilead would love some of those young fertile women to be handmaids. What are they supporting? Human slavery? Rape? Society where women can’t read, or own money? Do we have supporters of N Korea hanging around the US with candles and midnight vigils? I really don’t get this and no one has explained what these people think? I assume everyone knows of the atrocities in Gilead?
  12. I really enjoyed this. I found the women interviewed to be believable, real and sympathetic. Well done.
  13. Couldn’t have summed it up any better. So so bad. This will be canceled within a month.

    S01.E05: Pastitsio

I’m starting to think the flashbacks to his wife are finally going to clue him in that he needs to work on the Mom, NOT Sam. He will realize he should have addressed his wife’s behavior and stop being angry at his son. Trying to “fix” Sam is never goi g to work. But getting the mom to wake up and help him is the only way out. I don’t know how she can continue to protect her son knowing innocent people are dying at his hands.
  15. Am I the only one that is ready for things to move along. I’m guessing him falling into the water won’t actually be his demise and we’re onto weeks and weeks more of them “trying” to kill him before we actually find out how it ends. If they end this season without revealing that mystery I’m out.
  16. I understood Serenas motivation, but why would the Commanders want all of the freak show that Gilead is, on display for the world? The funeral procession was one of the creepiest things I’ve seen, the red face coverings on the women, the peasant looking onlookers, the men dressed in weird military uniforms. It looked like something out of N Korea. Did any of them really think this would make the world accept them more? And Fred wasn’t even anyone special, so to speak, he wasn’t their leader, he was just one of what seems to be hundreds of “Commanders”, so why the fuss other than Serena convincing them it will make the world see their humanity, yea they see your humanity with your shackled Handmaids lined up like prisoners, yup that is a really good look.
  17. I’m sorry but I am just hating this. No one around June (except maybe Moira) notices this woman needs deep deep psychological help. Luke is just all “tsk tsk tsk Moira, let’s not address the fact June is obviously disturbed, let’s just be happy she’s home”. I mean it’s like Charles Manson shows up for Christmas dinner and everyone is just like “chill everyone let’s just rejoice Charlie is home”. Wtf and was I the only person screaming at the television when Serena was all “does this country not have any decency” that agent Tullo wasn’t like “ummm Serena are you forgetting that whole hold a woman against her will, beat her, and rape her thing, maybe you should climb down off your high horse.” Wtf And Serena all of a sudden romanticizing about her beautiful romance with Fred, doing the tango was a complete WTF moment. The only one that seemed to have her senses was Rory Gilmore’s girlfriend who was like “get your crazy ass off my lawn and no I’m not telling you anything ever” and the freedom fighters in the diner slowly realizing that the only person June cares about is June, should’ve just beat the crap out of her and moved on with their day. Funny how the only person‘s vendetta that matters to June is June’s and everybody else’s she could not give a shit about. Big surprise. Are we literally supposed to hate everyone? How sad that what could have evolved into a show about strong women coming to grips with what had become of their lives is just one ridiculous plot point after another and Elizabeth Moss just trying to cram in as many muggable moments as she can for her Emmy reel. I wanted to watch bit eps tonight but I think I need a breather here.
  18. Can anyone explain why on day five when help arrived to evacuate would they need to kill the patients at that point in time? The cavalry has arrived they were going to get them all out. This is the only part that didn’t make a lot of sense to me, I could maybe understand on day three with no help and site doing it but when the Coast Guard was literally in the building taking people away why do it then?
  19. Sorry but I have zero sympathy for the cat fisher. This wasn’t a story about them not knowing who they were, or not wanting to acknowledge or being a transgender woman, nope, this was about them lying and tricking another human being. And I didn’t get one indication they actually felt bad about what they did. I think she wanted us to feel for her “journey” and that this had something to do with that. Straight, gay, transgender, none of that has anything to do with crafting a fake identity, tricking another human and publicly humiliating them and possibly damaging their career. They are scum and T’eo may have forgiven her but sure don’t. She’s a shitty human. I think T’eo isn’t that smart so I believe he believed the scam, I don’t think he was complicit in this. What a bizarre story.
  20. This is the most anxiety ridden show I’ve watched in a long time. I live in a hurricane zone and have gone thru many storms, this is my worst nightmare. I love Vera Farmiga and she’s doing a great job. They are really making us feel the heat, the desperation, the struggle these people lived thru. I don’t know how they made all these actors look so hot and sweaty but boy is it working. I can’t wait for Ep 5.
  21. Not sure how I feel about this one. I don’t want to get blasted but I just felt like they didn’t do a good job here. The abuse Anthony suffered just seemed under represented in terms of the reality of his day to day life. First let me state unequivocally Bert was a MONSTER. A very sick and dangerous man. That said, I have real issues with the other adults in this kids universe. Bio Mom and step mom both got out, but then sobbed and cried about how they felt leaving this poor kid to fend for himself. And then once he actually kills the bastard they are all out of the wood work about how much love and support he has. Huh? I’m sorry but I felt like they could have done way more to help him before he had to kill his father. I disliked them all immensely. I was bothered that Anthony kept saying he was “innocent”, well not exactly kid, you may have been justified in what you did, or thought you had to do it, but “innocent” just rang wrong for me. I get his dead affect was due to years of abuse but I think he needs a lot a lot of therapy because I’m not convinced he is really stable now. And the whole reconciliation thing at the end where bio mom and grandma are tying yellow ribbons and ringing their hands was just a WTF for me. They did not fight at all in my opinion to get this kid out and make him safe but they’re gonna make a big production of their reunion like they’ve spent years fighting for his safety. Nope. I liked the attorney, but that’s about it. What a shit show of incompetence, abuse and neglect.
  22. Well the movement certainly crashed and burned didn’t it. Everything was great for all these people until it wasn’t. Seems none of them were really very happy. For everything they were “escaping” there was another price to pay. Ironic Freeman died, in part, because he didn’t have health insurance. Losing their money to another get rich quick scheme and then having to forego medical care because you don't have the money for care is just tragic, and in their case, ironic. Lily finally admitting her lifestyle with John was stressful and, frankly, not much fun, hit home. The conference imploding because this was never anything more than another conference where the goal was for the promoters to make money, vs an actual lifestyle people could adopt became very apparent in the end. As the one woman said, there was no community when it came down to it, they were all in it for the money and that’s where it stopped. Super interesting documentary, I really enjoyed this one. And on a shallow note, I hope to never see anyone try to get rid of dreads again, it was just yuk.
  23. I’ll watch anything about the royals. This was very different but I enjoyed it. Diane was a complicated messy person (as we all are). I believe some part of her enjoyed the attention but the other side hated it. I don’t think she ever reconciled those things. I think she loved Charles and he never loved her, she was a breeder as far as he was concerned, what a tragic existence. The royal family really were idiots in not treating her better, it would have taken so little and she was a great asset to them, but they couldn’t accept people liked her better than them and instead of using that wisely they treated her awfully. What a waste. She certainly saw things and did things us average people will never experience and lived in great privilege as a royal, but gilded cage it was and it couldn’t be sustained when they all shut her out. I will never have anything nice to say about Charles or Camilla no matter how hard the royals have tried to repackage them. They both suck and no amount of time will change my view of them as people. Just because they are older now and doddering around doesn’t erase what assholes as humans they both were and are. As with all these docs about Diana I am just left with a sense of sadness for her, and one can’t help but wonder what would have become of her had she not died.
  24. The Vince - Paige storyline has to be the dumbest plot I’ve ever seen on tv. So he’s just obsessed with kidnapping her and keeping her against her will and she’s going along with it to protect the kid? Huh? So he’s going to keep her a prisoner on the run forever, until they’re 80 years old and die. And the kid was missing for weeks but Preach just kept working his day job, kinda sorta no really contacting the police because……..why? I like the Preacher character but HATE this dumb storyline. I don’t even know how they can fix it, it stretches credulity even for this dumb show. the season wasn’t really that good and I watched at a glacial pace and I’ll probably keep watching for the locales and soapy content, but this season really was awful. I hope they can turn it around next season.
