  1. From USA Today: Michel Legrand, Oscar-Winning ‘Windmills of Your Mind’ Composer, Dead at 86 I think, among other works, he also composed the theme to the TV-movie Brian’s Song which starred James Caan & Billy Dee Williams.
  2. I read he was filming a movie in Peru, or somewhere else in Central/South America. I’ll try to find a link & post it. I think he might’ve been more involved with it than just acting in it, but I can’t remember.
  3. From TV Line: CBS Renews Magnum P.I. for a Second Season Also renewed were FBI & The Neighborhood.
  4. From TV Line: CBS Renews Magnum P.I., FBI, The Neighborhood for Season 2
  5. From TV by the Numbers/Zap2It.com: The Magicians Gets Early Season 5 Renewal At SyFy From TV by the Numbers/Zap2It.com: Suits Renewed for Ninth and Final Season At USA
  6. If you need to start from the beginning, the show is available on Hulu that way. Not sure how many eps might be available on In Demand.
  7. From USA Today: Comedian and Rel Co-Creator Kevin Barnett Dies At 32
  8. I meant to post this earlier & forgot... Sorry! Netflix Renewed Grace and Frankie for Season 6, Debuting in 2020
  9. It’s apparently somehow been missed, but The Americans is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (the equivalent of Best Show/Best Drama) at this year’s SAG Awards. The nominations were apparently announced in December. Unfortunately, none of the cast is nominated as an individual. The SAG Awards air this Sunday, at 8PM Eastern Time/7PM Central Time, on TNT & TBS.
  10. Have the expected winners in the acting, directing & Best Picture categories always been so clear cut, like in recent years, or has there ever been a time when you could watch an Oscars ceremony & be truly surprised by the winners in those categories? I’d swear it was like that when I was much younger, that there was a bigger element of surprise; then as time went on it became a thing of you already knew who/what film was probably gonna win the major awards before the Oscars even aired. Which could leave one with a “Why bother watching, if you already are sure of the winners?” feeling, although there’s still the nominees’ clothes & acceptance speeches (at least from any winners who are activists in politics &/or other areas) to watch for.
  11. Don’t forget, Melissa was also nominated a few years ago for Bridesmaids. So this is her second—& second time with a less than zero chance at winning.
  12. The Dame Joan Collins ep was filming last week, I think; pictures from the set, with & without Dame Joan, showed up on social media in that timeframe as I remember.
  13. From USA Today: M&M’s Introduces New Flavors, Candy Bars The story is from last fall (I think). I’m posting now because the candy bars are/should be out now. There are 5 flavors: Milk Chocolate, Peanut, Crispy, Almond & Crispy Mint. All are milk chocolate bars with M&M Minis. I bought 3 single bars (1 each of the Milk Chocolate, Crispy, & Crispy Mint) through Amazon & got them last week but I haven’t tried them yet. I doubt I’ll try any of the new M&M flavors. None of them really appeal to me; especially not the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor & the 1 with jalapeño, the name of which I’ve forgotten already.
  14. I don’t get what the age of the Musical Director has to do with being hip or not. Plenty of older people (if he’s older) can be, & are, “hip”. So I’m sorry your friend’s best friend got fired.
  15. I’m still ticked off Wait For Your Laugh, the biographical documentary about the life & career of the late actress/singer Rose Marie (best known as a co-star of the original Dick Van Dyke Show & a fairly regular to regular panelist on the original Hollywood Squares version, hosted by Peter Marshall), which was eligible during last year’s Oscars & seemed to be getting great “buzz” & headed for a nomination didn’t get 1 last year.
  16. Regarding the bolded: I believe residents of Los Angeles are called “Los Angelenos”, not “Los Angelites”. They may not like it, but I have heard/read of them being referred to as “Los Angelenos”.
  17. According to Google, you can still buy Sky Bars. They have them at Amazon (pack of 24–kinda pricey though... $45); eBay; Cracker Barrel (if you don’t have 1 in/near your town, they have a website Cracker Barrel — they have them 24 for $25); Walgreens; Walmart & OldTimeCandy.com (probably among other places).
  18. I don’t think all children necessarily look anything/exactly like their parents. Teilor Grubbs does have brownish hair, as does (or did, when she was introduced in the role of Rachel) Claire van der Boom. That works for me, & apparently for the Casting Director & TPTB with the show. I think they just got lucky when they found a kid who supposedly looks as if he could be Scott Caan’s son in real life (& the kid has a twin, but I don’t know if the twin’s identical or fraternal—it seems only 1 actor plays Charlie: he’s billed as Zach Sulzbach, not like Mary Kate Ashley Olsen or Lindsay Sidney Greenbush who were twins sharing the roles of Michelle Tanner on Full House & Carrie Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie & had their combined names in their credits).
  19. So yesterday I was binge watching the new season (Season 5) of Netflix’s original show Grace and Frankie (Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin play 2 women who aren’t exactly the best of friends, whose worlds are turned upside down when their law partner husbands, played by Martin Sheen & Sam Waterston, announce that they’ve been in a gay relationship for the last 20 years & they’re now leaving their wives to marry each other). I was pleasantly surprised to find Paul Michael Glaser was in 2 of the 13 eps, playing a character who is an old friend of Frankie’s (Lily Tomlin) whom she meets again while on a “girls’ weekend” with Grace (Jane Fonda) to a retreat at an ashram run by another old friend of hers (Frankie’s). Paul’s part isn’t the biggest (I honestly think he might’ve taken it in order to keep his health insurance benefits with SAG-AFTRA... I remember reading that, at least years ago, an actor actually had to act in something every so often/within a certain timeframe, especially if they weren’t very active in the business to start with, to keep the health insurance benefits they’re entitled to as a member of SAG-AFTRA). He’s in the 1st of the 2 eps more than the 2nd. He’s in the eps “The Retreat” (Season 5, Episode 6) & “The Ceremony” (Season 5, Episode 8).
  20. From USA Today: John Coughlin, Former US Pairs Figure Skating Champion, Dies Unexpectedly a Day After Being Suspended From the Sport The death is being investigated as a suicide. He was 33 & won the US Pairs Figure Skating Championship in 2011 with Caitlin Yankowskas & in 2012 with Caydee Denney.
  21. Bruce Willis released a couple of solo albums in the late 1980’s (during the Moonlighting era of his career & while he was still a really hot commodity in entertainment). I think he also contributed songs to the soundtracks of various movies he starred or otherwise participated in (like doing voices for animated characters).
  22. Hailey, Idaho is either where the pretty well-known (& often celebrity magnet) ski resort Sun Valley is located, or it’s the closest town to it. So if you follow the entertainment world, or you’re into skiing, you might be familiar with it.
  23. When Jay Leno hosted The Tonight Show, Ross played a character called Ross the Intern, who would participate in comedy bits on the show, I think including interviewing in “man on the street” type things. Then he moved on to E! after Leno left the show. He co-hosted some of their celebrity award show red carpets & fashion-related shows (& may still do that), & he did his own talk show, I think after being part of the cast of another E! talk show, Chelsea Lately. He’s also done other things. I think he has his own podcast as well.
  24. Peyton Manning played in 4 Super Bowls—Super Bowls XLI, XLIV, XLVIII, & 50; of those 4, he & his team at the time won 2. He won Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts & Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos in his final season as an NFL player.
