  1. Regarding the bolded: A social media friend of mine, who’s a Hawaii native but has lived on the Mainland the last few years, writes a weekly blog (& has been writing it since the show began) for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser about each new H50 episode during the TV season; she also writes about the actors & various other things connected to the show when the show’s pre-empted during the TV season, as well as during the filming hiatus between seasons (she also writes a similar blog about the Magnum P.I. reboot). The blogs are published in the print edition of the paper, & posted on the paper’s website, the day after the show airs on CBS (so Saturdays for H50 & Tuesdays for MPI). She actually discussed the Aloha shirt store seen in this episode in this week’s blog (if reading the linked blog post, look for the “Grover the Appraiser” section towards the end of the blog post). It’s a real store, Bailey’s Antiques and Aloha Shirts, & it’s located on Kapahulu Avenue near Waikiki. While the store is real, the store employee Grover & Adam spoke to in the scene was played by an actor.
  2. Regarding the bolded: It could happen—there could be more installments of Lori Loughlin’s mystery movie franchise; at least theoretically speaking. If ABC or the show’s producers could buy out Roseanne Barr’s rights to her character & whichever other(s) she created for Roseanne & were, therefore, her intellectual property, as well as her ownership stake in the show & whatever else she made money from through the show, just so they could continue the show in some form because the ratings for the Roseanne revival were good enough to keep it on ABC’s schedule, then Crown Media (owners of the original Hallmark Channel & Hallmark Mysteries & Movies) could (theoretically at least, if they felt it was worth it to their overall ratings, viewership levels, etc.) try to buy out Lori’s stake in the mystery’s franchise & continue airing it without her involvement, like ABC turned Roseanne into The Conners.
  3. Regarding the bolded: This (along with other sources on using an Epi-Pen—basically administering epinephrine) says the ONLY place it’s to be injected is the mid-outer thigh (so a muscular area), & it CAN be administered through clothing. If accidentally given intravenously, it can lead to death. So if Adam administered it that way to Tani, he did it as he was supposed to have done it.

  5. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard Mexican-made Coke (the drink, not the illegal drug) tastes better than American-made. I think it’s something to do with the Mexican version having real sugar in it while ours has something else to sweeten it (& I’m talking about the “regular” version of Coke here, not the diet/“zero sugar” versions, which I know have 1 or more fake sweeteners in them).
  6. Senator Birch Bayh was among the then-US Senators I had the honor of being photographed with during my 2-day photo op at the US Capitol, with as many of the then-US Senators as were available during that period, when I was the March of Dimes’ National Poster Girl in 1972. I remember him as being a nice man, & I think he was also interested in me because we were both from Indiana (though I wasn’t born there—Alabama gets that honor) & my family & I were, at least generally speaking, constituents of his at the time. I wish our state’s former First Lady luck with her cancer fight (which I’ve known about for awhile before this), but unfortunately I think the survival rate from glioblastoma is about the same as Alex Trebek is facing in his Stage IV pancreatic cancer battle. Especially if she has glioblastoma multiforme (which I believe killed both Senators McCain & Kennedy—I also got to meet Senator Kennedy; I don’t believe Senator McCain had been elected to his first term at that time).
  7. They have Coca-Cola Stores, as part of the World of Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta, by 1 of the resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, & at Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs area in Orlando with areas where you can try different versions of Coke & other beverages made & sold by the Coca-Cola Company in other countries from around the world (apparently you should beware of the drink called Beverly though). At least 1 of these stores has Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, like in many fast food places & other restaurants now, where you can take a beverage made by the Coca-Cola Company & modify it to your tastes (as far as adding flavors is concerned, anyway; I don’t think you can remove anything from your base beverage).
  8. If you haven’t heard yet, CBS has scheduled the 9th season finale for airing. It will air on Friday, May 17th, at Blue Bloods’ regular time of 10-11PM Eastern/Pacific, 9-10PM Central. MacGyver‘s & Blue Bloods’ 3rd & 9th season finales, respectively, will air the week before, on Friday, May 10th, at those shows’ usual times.

  11. For some reason, that didn’t cross my mind until you said it (the bolded comment), though I’m completely familiar with the fact her sister, Jackie, was 1 of the bigger novelists of her day (Most people didn’t/don’t consider Jackie a “romance novelist”, per se; I think Joan’s Amanda “Mandy” Savage character was supposed to have been a romance novelist more in the vein of Joan’s/Amanda’s late fellow Brit Barbara Cartland, & the other writers whose covers had/have the male model Fabio on their covers, for example. The authors who write the “bodice rippers”, as I believe they’re called in the romance novel circles. At least judging by the covers that were created for Amanda’s books & seen in the booksigning scenes, as well as in a pic in the article linked in the next paragraph). That thought—her playing a romance novelist being based on her sister having been a novelist—actually did cross the mind, though, of the interviewer in the 1 article I read where Joan Collins was asked about having worked on Hawaii Five-0. But it’s certainly possible there was meant to be a connection. You’d have to think the ep writers are old enough to know who Jackie Collins was—at least through relatives or friends’ family members who read her books when they were growing up. And if they aren’t, I’m pretty sure Peter Lenkov (the Creator, Showrunner, & oftentimes Writer of the show) is old enough to be familiar with Jackie Collins, as at least the older members of the cast should be as well.
  12. I would bet that if we looked at the liner notes/other credits of all the recorded music we’ve bought over the years, going back who knows how far, all the way to now (or at least the last few years), in any form (except maybe legal full album MP3 downloads from iTunes, Amazon, or wherever, which have really been cutting back on putting anything but the cover & the most basic info about the work involved with the music file in recent years), we’d probably find Hal Blaine’s name on that work at least once. I know, for sure, I have his name on stuff I’ve bought by The Partridge Family & David Cassidy (a pre-teen girl has to start somewhere, musically, & that’s primarily where I started—along with Bobby Sherman & The Brady Bunch Kids; & I’d bet his name is somewhere on the albums I have by them, too), John Denver, The Carpenters (when Karen didn’t play on a track, or in addition to her work), The Captain and Tennille (RIP Daryl “The Captain” Dragon), & Barry Manilow, just to name a few musical artists from my personal collection I’m positive Hal Blaine worked with.

  15. Sorry for the late comment here. I missed the comment I’m responding to earlier & only found it when I decided to read the thread again for some reason. I know it’s too late to edit the post, but the movie where the song “Twist of Fate” came from was actually called Two of a Kind; it didn’t have the same title as the song.

  18. The other day, Luke Perry’s daughter spoke out about her father’s highly untimely passing. Today, we hear from his son, Jack, via ET Online & his Instagram account. Click on the Instagram post to read it all. By the way, the website for the Extra TV show said Luke DID NOT regain consciousness before he died. Also, this week’s episode of Riverdale included an onscreen “In Memoriam” card noting his passing. The episode was dedicated to him, as are the remaining ones this season. I didn’t watch, but I read about it online.

  22. From People—Luke Perry’s Daughter Breaks Her Silence After His Death: ‘I Am Grateful for All the Love’ As you may have guessed/assumed (especially since it’s promoted in the linked article) Luke’s sudden death will be the cover story in the new issue of People, which will be available on Friday.
  23. The AntennaTV website schedule also has Soap airing from 3:30-4PM Eastern/2:30-3PM Central Mondays-Fridays, followed (perhaps not so coincidentally) by its spinoff, Benson.
  24. This is from GMA. It has some stuff, like celebrity Tweets marking Luke’s passing & other comments about his illness, that we’ve either already posted or talked about here. But it also has similar things that haven’t been mentioned here yet, along with a pic of a really young (& sorta hot, I guess) Luke they say is from 1987. So I wanted to share in case any were missed by anyone here.
  25. I agree with you. I mean, to use another recent, shocking, & unexpected death as an example, I seriously doubt CBS, Sony Pictures Television (or whomever the current production company is), & The Young and the Restless are going to be recasting the character of Neil Winters after Kristoff St. John’s recent death. I don’t think the cast or the viewers, especially those with more than a casual interest in the show, would allow it. I was just saying recasting is an option that is available to them, if they choose to use it.
