  1. Someone else commented on social media, I think it was, that Alex & Scott both signed new 2-year contracts before this season started filming. That would cover this season & next season (season 10)—I’ll try to find the comment & link it here. So this may not be the last season. And yes, I’m aware that might not mean much (that Alex & Scott signed to do this season & next) as shows can get canceled with time left on their cast members’ contracts.
  2. I’m just happy the Yorkshire Terrier made the winner’s/potential winner’s cut in the Toy Group this year—& actually took third place—instead of getting totally ignored during the final group cuts like the breed usually does. My family had a number of Yorkies over the years. We still love them & always watch the dog show to cheer for the breed. And I join the many here who are suffering from Wire Fox Terrier (or just Fox Terrier) burnout/fatigue in the Best in Show ring/as the winner (with apologies to the fans here of that breed). Didn’t they keep saying the breed’s won something like 14 times over the years (maybe now 15 with this year’s win)? That’s like Tony Bennett winning a Grammy basically every time he’s nominated for 1 (but he didn’t this year—Willie Nelson won the category). Yes Bennett’s a good/great singer, though he’s not my style. But does he REALLY deserve a Grammy nomination/win for EVERY eligible CD (or a single track from it) he releases? I’d say no. Same goes for the Fox Terrier/Wirehaired Fox Terrier/Other Fox Terrier variations deserving the BIS at WKC every time they make the BIS competition. I get they can’t keep that breed/related breeds from entering or even winning, but I wish they’d find a BIS Judge who’s not so Fox Terrier-obsessed some time. I think a Yorkshire Terrier-obsessed Toy Group/BIS Judge would be nice at least 1 year. Not to mention they should try to vet the Judges a bit better so they don’t have to DQ anymore dogs, especially not after they’ve already won BOB or Group, because the dog’s humans are too closely connected, somehow, to the Judge they’ve chosen for a round of competition. That would be so disappointing (if it were me handling, at least), to win the Group & then be told you can’t compete for BIS after all. I hope they let the Schipperke keep the BOB & Group wins it got though. I’m not sure how I feel about it being allowed to be in the beginning of the BIS competition. It was kinda nice they at least let the dog get a quick look see & spin around that ring before removing it, but it also felt like they were just throwing it, & its humans, a bone (pun sort of intended) to appease them.
  3. It’s also on Netflix in the US & on Hulu in the US as a “Watch with Live TV” offering.
  4. From NBC News: Lyndon LaRouche, Bizarre Political Theorist and Perennial Presidential Candidate, Dies at 96
  5. Read This (Not That It Changes Anything) From Variety: Film Academy Clarifies Controversial Oscar Plans Emmy (& multiple other) Award-winning actress Christine Lahti won an Oscar a number of years ago as director of the winning film in 1 of the short subject categories. I don’t remember the name of it though, or exactly how long ago she won.

  7. A Tweet from Bob Hiltermann, a deaf actor inviting his followers/anyone else who sees the Tweet to watch him on Hawaii Five-0 on CBS, Friday February 22, at 9PM Eastern & Pacific/8PM Central. He plays the role of Hal, an alcoholic, homeless hippie who, the plot synopsis says, is befriended by current Five-0 team member Adam Noshimuri, played by Ian Anthony Dale (Adam’s also the now-estranged husband of former Five-0 team member Kono Kalakaua, who was played by Grace Park before she left the show 2 seasons ago). Bob also says in the Tweet that the role was specifically rewritten for him as a deaf actor. If You Plan to Watch: Take note that CBS plans to air 2 consecutive episodes of Hawaii Five-0 on the night of February 22nd, from 9-11PM Eastern & Pacific/8-10PM Central. The ep mentioned in the Tweet airs first, at 9PM Eastern & Pacific/8PM Central.
  8. The Hollywood Reporter article says the acceptance speeches for the categories not given on air will be seen elsewhere in the telecast, & on the Academy’s various social media platforms (maybe also their website; I forget). But I can’t see how they’re gonna do that without making the speeches look disjointed(?)/out of place. They also say that 6 of the Academy groups actually volunteered to have their awards given during the commercial break & 4 were chosen from those 6 (so the point about the chosen groups not including Disney-connected nominees on an awards show airing on a Disney-owned network is probably still valid). The other thing they said is (assuming they don’t come to their senses & realize this was a bad idea & they scrap presenting some awards during a commercial break & reinstate them to the show in 2020) they’ll rotate the categories for which the awards will be given out during the commercials (like they at least supposedly rotate the Grammy categories for which the awards are given out during the non-televised preshow); so if they keep doing this as long as Disney owns ABC & ABC airs the Oscars, it may not always hold that the unaired/barely aired categories have no Disney-connected nominees.
  9. From The News & Observer (Raleigh, NC): Walter Jones, Congressman Who Worked to Atone for His Iraq War Vote, Is Dead at 76
  10. We were talking about bringing back Lime flavored Coke. I think I knew the Vanilla had been brought back; it can stay gone, as far as I’m concerned.
  11. In case you hadn’t heard, they already renewed the show for S2; they did it on January 25th.
  12. From CNN: Former Representative John Dingell, the Longest Serving Member of Congress, Dies at 92
  13. Coke just introduced (or is just about to introduce) Orange Vanilla Coca-Cola & Coke Zero Sugar. The Today show’s Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb tried it on Friday’s show. They were confused by the taste and didn’t seem to like it—Ms. Gifford even reminding that Vanilla Coke was a previous flavor bust (I thought that tasted like somebody dumped a powder compact in a Coke)—but their opinions don’t necessarily mean that much, or are accurate. I like that orange vanilla flavor combo, so I’m hoping it’s better than plain Vanilla Coke was—but because of that flavor being so bad I’m not holding out much hope for the new flavor. I wish they’d just bring back Coke Lime, or Lime Coke (whichever way the name went)!
  14. Two small things: Tami is actually named Tani, with an N not an M, & Hirsch’s first name is actually Gerard, not Gerald. We may get to see what the characters think of each other soon (which I was hoping for); I’m pretty sure Willie Garson posted something on social media fairly recently that sounded like he may have been filming or about to film another guest appearance. I really wanna see what Sang Min thinks of Tani (since he called Kono “Spicy” & Lori Weston “Sweet”) but since it seems Will Yun Lee followed DDK to the show DDK is Exec Producer of now, that may take awhile.
  15. From ESPN: Frank Robinson, MVP in Both the American and National Leagues and the First Black Major League Baseball Team Manager, Dead at 83
  16. From The Hollywood Reporter: Allison Will Be Among the Presenters At This Year’s Academy Awards The Academy Awards “tradition”, if you will, in recent years has been for the “outgoing” Best Lead/Supporting Actor to present the award to the “incoming” Best Lead/Supporting Actress & the “outgoing” Best Lead/Supporting Actress to present the award to the “incoming” Best Lead/Supporting Actor. Earlier in the week word was going around that Allison hadn’t been invited to do that (& apparently neither had the other 3 Oscar-winning actors from last year), because the Academy supposedly wanted to go “another way” & “get bigger names as presenters”. Allison even posted about it on her social media, saying it (presumably meaning not getting to present) broke her heart—then she quickly deleted the post. And now it looks like the Academy has changed its mind, according to the linked article, & all 4 of last year’s Oscar winners for acting will be presenting at this year’s Oscars. What’s less clear cut is, will they continue the tradition of presenting the acting Oscars, or will they be presenting in other categories? At least we’ll get to see Allison. Don’t forget to watch!
  17. Not true. Five-0 can leave Oahu. They’ve had storylines that have taken place, at least in part, in Lanai & at the old leper colony, which is on Molokai, I think (it’s not on Oahu anyway), and on Ni’ihau, as well as most/all of the other main islands in the state (Remember the Hawaiian cruise Steve & Danny had to take to catch that honeymoon killer?) However, they may have filmed those scenes on Oahu to save on the budget.
  18. From Variety: Steve Levy, Actor in ‘Shameless’, ‘Ray Donovan’ Dies At 58 And here’s the obligatory “(BLEEP) Cancer”. He died of a rare form of Cancer of the nose.
  19. From USA Today: Kristoff St. John’s Final Y&R Airs TODAY (Wednesday); the Show Will Pay Tribute to Him/His Character on Friday
  20. From The Hollywood Reporter: Ken Welch Dead, Carol Burnett’s Longtime Musical Collaborator, Was 92
  21. From TV by the Numbers: New Amsterdam Renewed for Season 2 by NBC
  22. Thanks for the correction. Apologies for apparently ruffling your feathers with my post.
  23. Julie Adams was on Murder, She Wrote towards the end of its run, I think. There was a time they gave Angela Lansbury’s Jessica Fletcher friends (or women who seemed like friends) who were, like, 2-3 women who apparently patronized the same hair salon as Jessica & they would gossip, which would sometimes or often give Jessica help in solving the mystery of the week. Julie Adams was 1 of the women.
