  1. Ahh... But it's happened in real life at least once, most notably involving Southern Airways flight 242, a passenger jet in a storm-related emergency, due to foreign object damage, in April, 1977: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Airways_Flight_242 And yes, it ended up then as a spectacularly bad idea (fatalities on the flight & on the ground in the plane's landing path). But in real life they had no real choice besides that if they wanted to try & save anyone aboard. In the case of the show, it was--of course--done as 1 of Stunt Coordinator Jeff Cadiente, & his team,'s spectacular stunts which are a staple of the show. I believe I remember reading, this summer, that they closed down Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu (a big tourist attraction & their equivalent to Beverly Hills' Rodeo Drive, etc.) early 1 Sunday morning to film that scene. It was something of a big deal in Honolulu/the Honolulu newspaper when they did it.
  2. That's Amanda Setton as Dr. Mindy Shaw. She was also in last season's The Crazy Ones, on CBS, with the late (still can't believe I'm saying that) Robin Williams & Sarah Michelle Gellar. She played Lauren in that.
  3. Yes, Rachel moved to Vegas, with Stan & their son Charles (who I still suspect is actually Danny's child, just as Rachel said in the S1 Finale when she told Danny she was pregnant... Which she had to because they were sleeping together at the time). They moved there for Stan's job. Grace actually doesn't split her time between Honolulu & Vegas. According to the custody modification filed by Danny, after Rachel filed to modify her custody so Grace had to move to Vegas, Grace shouldn't be made to live wherever Rachel wants anymore because she's getting to the age where she's starting to have meaningful friends, a life of her own, & "roots" she shouldn't have to give up if she doesn't want to. He filed asking the Judge to rule Grace couldn't be made to move off-island anymore just because Rachel was. (S2 Finale) In S3 (I think) they finally went to court on the custody issue. Steve was trying to testify on Danny's behalf, but his cellphone went off (embarrassingly) with a call from Governor Denning about a case--his friend the Congressman was believed to have killed a prostitute he slept with, but he was set up by Wo Fat who had "bought" the Congressman's election opponent (who, I think, was the real killer). Anyway, the Judge ruled in favor of Danny's custody modification--including that Grace could no longer be taken off-island by Rachel for reasons connected to custody. Grace's custody is now basically flipped from how it started--Danny now has Physical Custody (Grace lives with him) & Rachel has visitation, which apparently entails Rachel going to Grace in Hawaii for it instead of Grace going to Rachel in Vegas. And that's apparently what happened in S4: In the ep where Danny & Amber Vitale slept together, biblically, in the Williams house & Grace came home early & discovered them together afterward (I think it was also the ep where Steve & Danny eventually became trapped in the building collapse), when they were discovered Danny asked what Grace was doing home so early. She said it was because Rachel's plane for Vegas had to leave earlier than expected. So, presumably, Grace spends visitations with Rachel in a hotel in Honolulu & was expected to be gone for a few hours to another night longer. As for the ep, I thought it was kickass, I loved the session with the psychologist, & I'm looking forward to the rest of S5 if Ep 501 is anything to go by. But that may just be me.
  4. Congratulations to Scott & his longtime girlfriend, Kacy Byxbee (who's worked/who works in the H50 wardrobe department)! If you haven't heard, they welcomed their first child, daughter Josie James (James is presumably for Scott's father, James Caan), on July 9th. http://m.usmagazine.com/celebrity-moms/news/scott-caan-girlfriend-kacy-byxbee-welcome-first-child-2014287 Scott & Kacy have the only daughter among the 4 main leads in the cast--Alex, Daniel, & (apparently, seeing as there's never been an official announcement of her pregnancy/delivery) Grace Park are all parents to sons only.
  5. Matthew Rhys boards Bradley Cooper's chef movie: http://variety.com/2014/film/news/the-americans-star-matthew-rhys-boards-bradley-coopers-chef-movie-1201278197/ The movie started filming in New Orleans last month. It's been filming in London since July 27th & will be filming there through September 26th. Matthew plays the rival chef standing in the way of Bradley Cooper's chef character.
  6. Respectfully, Sam didn't fob off the President's daughter's elementary school class (in which he somehow thought she was a student); he fobbed off Leo McGarry's daughter's elementary school class--again thinking the daughter was a student, not a teacher or an aide. I know, sometimes, Sam strayed into being "not the brightest bulb in the lamp", despite his normally visible intelligence level, but I never understood how he could think, at their apparent ages (he knew both of them personally/had physically been around them, remember), Leo & Jenny McGarry could've had a child who was still in elementary school (even through adoption). I get the confusion made for an interesting scene though, especially at the reveal she was the teacher. Part of me has thought they should've just made her their granddaughter, which could've also made sense. (shrugs)
  7. Death Comes to Pemberley, the Jane Austen-related project Matthew filmed for 1 of the BBC channels in the UK, over the hiatus between S1 & S2, will air in the US--as many of us expected/hoped. It will air on October 26th *&* November 2nd. It will air on PBS' Masterpiece program (formerly Masterpiece Theatre). Source for this info is a recent Tweet by Entertainment Weekly magazine (aka EW) which leads/led to an article/blurb with the airdate info on their website.
  8. During the TVLand marathon this afternoon (which was supposed to be a tribute to Ann B. Davis/Alice), I happened to catch the ep where the Bradys are recruited in the supermarket parking lot by a hippy dippy, free spirited TV commercial director/producer, to do the TV commercial for "the new & improved Safe laundry detergent". In the course of the ep, the Bradys end up somehow taking acting lessons/getting acting tips from an actress named "Myrna" (pronounced "Meer-na") something or other, who tells them all about needing "motivation" when performing a scene... A tip the Bradys then use on the day of filming, thereby ruining the "natural" quality the director/producer (who it turned out had worked with Myrna before) had liked about the family in the first place. Having read/heard about all the tension between Robert Reed & Sherwood Schwartz on the set (because of how Reed felt certain scenes should be played/shouldn't even have occurred in certain episodes/certain entire plots wouldn't have even happened in reality to a family like the Bradys, & Schwartz's attitude back to him was, basically, "You play what we write for you & you play it the way you're directed to...PERIOD), I wonder now if that whole "Myrna" plot wasn't meant as a dig at Reed's attitude towards Schwartz?
  9. According to this Tweet, Scott Caan is scheduled to be on The Queen Latifah Show on May 7th. That's *this Wednesday*. https://twitter.com/sc_caps/status/463089458628546562 The Queen Latifah Show is SYNDICATED, so check your local listings for the correct time & channel in your area. It airs for 60 minutes (1 hour). Hopefully this appearance will actually happen, unlike Chi McBride's The Talk appearance (he was scheduled, I heard them mention it & show his pic earlier in the week; I also saw him listed on a Talk Show Guests website for that show & date. Then it never happened & nobody ever explained why). And he did other, syndicated, ET-type shows that aired the same day. Maybe 1 of the others ran late or something & conflicted. Anyway, sorry for that bad tip! Also... Scott's 2nd book of published photographs, Vanity, will be released on October 30th, per amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1909526169/ref=aw_d_pd_books?qid=1399000384&sr=1-25 More info can be found at www.reelartspress.com, under Coming Attractions (just scroll until you find the book). Scott's 1st published photo collection is Scott Caan Photographs Vol. 1. The cover for this book served as the model for the cover of the photo book by the deceased photographer Renny Harlin in H50 Ep 122, Hoʻohuli Naʻau.
  10. Chi McBride (aka Captain Lou Grover) will be on The Talk on CBS *this Friday, May 2nd*. Presumably he'll be promoting this week's new episode (Michelle's/Catherine's departure), next week's new episode (the Season 4 Finale, in which Grover seems to figure heavily), or both. For those who have to record the show (because of work, or whatever), or who want to record it, The Talk is scheduled to air on CBS at 2PM Eastern/1PM Central--but check your local listings to be sure, in case the program is time-shifted or airs on another network in your area. It runs for an hour, & normally airs live in case you're not familiar with it (or have forgotten).
  11. Congratulations & Best Wishes for a long & happy life together go to Alex & his longtime partner, Malia Jones, who were very quietly & very recently married in Hawaii (Apparently sometime this week--pictures of a Hawaiian-style wedding celebration involving a couple named "Alex & Malia", as well as other pictures/comments seemingly confirming a marriage for the couple, have shown up on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram [at least] in the last couple of days)! People magazine's website confirms the nuptials today, in an article containing an official statement, but very few details, from the couple's Publicist. The details that were included, about the length of their relationship & the birth of Lion, their son together, were slightly inaccurate. http://www.people.com/people/mobile/article/0,,20808358,00.html Edited to add: I couldn't resist sharing this pic which showed up on Social Media in the last few hours, of Alex & Malia cutting their wedding cake. Mostly because they're both too good looking in it to ignore. https://mobile.twitter.com/Parker5050/status/457279102639431680/photo/1 If you can't see all of it, click Expand (or anything else)--that should get you the full picture, which deserves to be seen that way (my opinion). The wedding was apparently yesterday, the 17th (maybe the day before, the 16th). The reception (if not also the wedding) was apparently held at the Waikiki restaurant of Food Network's Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Many here may remember Morimoto had a cameo--Chef & restaurant--in a memorable scene from Ep 120: Steve broke his arm after finding a dead body while hiking to the petroglyphs with Danny, then Danny (& Steve, sort of) had to comb through a bucket of fish sold to Chef Morimoto's restaurant so they could find ballistics evidence (the bullet) attached to their dead body.
  12. S4 Finale Spoiler, involving Grover--read at your own risk. SOURCE: TVGuide's MegaBuzz column. It's the 9th Q&A pair in the column. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-Greys-Mentalist-Castle-Spoilers-1080558.aspx
  13. Scott to replace Shia LaBeouf in the film "Rock the Kasbah", per The Hollywood Reporter. https://twitter.com/thr/status/450790428707926016
  14. This is the place to discuss the adventures of Hawaii's Elite Governor's Crime Fighting Task Force, Five-0, its members--Steve McGarrett, Danny "Danno" Williams, Chin Ho Kelly, & his cousin Kono Kalakaua, former Professional Surfer Girl turned extremely capable Cop/Sniper--as well as the characters who make up their extended ohana (that's "family" in Hawaiian for those who weren't already aware).
