  1. If I remember correctly, Keri & her husband separated at some point in Season 2 (it made the news around the same time word got out that Keri's/her family's home in Brooklyn, I think, had been broken into while Keri was actually sleeping in the house--if you internet search something like Keri Russell burglary, or marriage separation, you can possibly get the relevant timeframe for those events). At least when S2 was airing, if not airing & still filming. At the time the marital separation was announced it seemed like they would be headed for (apparently amicable) divorce, but as far as I know neither Keri or her estranged husband has yet filed papers to take the next legal step in dissolving their marriage. So she's possibly still legally married, unless they did file for a legal separation when they split. Regardless, if they wanted to, Matthew & Keri couldn't marry in real life until Keri's legally divorced, & I haven't heard she is yet. If I also remember correctly, the press started referring to Matthew & Keri as a couple on *both* sides of the camera/TV screen shortly before or after the upcoming season (S3, which starts Wednesday night... Yay!) started filming. They, as I remember, were "outed" (if you will) by another paparazzi-related sighting (I think they were supposedly antique shopping, & "looking cozy together", in 1 of their neighborhoods, but it's unclear as to whose place any purchases would've gone). That was over this past Summer (Summer 2014), if I again remember correctly. I think around July; as I remember they started filming around the same time as my other favorite show, & my other favorite show started filming on July 8th (I remember the date specifically 'cause it's shortly after my own birthday & 'cause 1 of the leads on the other show became a father for the 1st time--of a daughter--July 9th, the day after his show started filming, for the season that's airing now). If I remember correctly, 1 of the Executive Producers posted to Twitter about the 1st day of S3 filming & the Tweet was posted somewhere around July 11th. That Tweet may actually be somewhere upthread in this subject, posted/linked to by me.
  2. Unfortunately, all I know is what you/we all know, which is in the quote above from Joel Fields, 1 of the Executive Producers, & he only cited cases without sources, etc. You could try Googling/Yahoo! Searching/Wikipedia Searching it, I suppose, but I don't know specific search terms you'd use or how easy/hard it would be.
  3. I think we're just supposed to do ep threads for current episodes/seasons, & discuss the older eps in threads like this. I started some threads awhile back, for the older, repeat eps airing on TNT Network that week--which I thought would be helpful & appropriate, & I didn't know not to (but, to be fair, I also didn't ask... because I didn't think I needed to) & received a reply that threads were actually meant for current eps/seasons.
  4. Keri was apparently on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show this past Tuesday night, & she played 1 of those games he periodically gets guests involved in. Here's an article/clip from the game she played, which she allegedly cheated at (according to the caption, at least). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/keri-russell-cheats-at-flip-765717?utm_sour Here's an item from TVGuide's MegaBuzz from earlier this week. It's about the whole "Will or won't Martha discover 'Clark' isn't really 'Clark' & her marriage is a sham, & what will she do if she does discover it?" plot point. http://www.tvguide.com/news/mega-buzz-the-americans-martha/
  5. Doris, as I remember, said at some point in S3 that the "car bombing"/her "death" (along with that microfiche she hid in Steve's floor, which was later stolen by Craig T. Nelson's character & retrieved from him by Doris, Steve, Mick & Wade Gutches) was meant to keep her family safe from "enemies" she apparently made--in & out of the CIA--during her time in the CIA. Just like Papa McG's sending the kids to the Mainland was meant to do something similar. But, seeing as we learned Doris apparently went back to being an active CIA operative, once she got Kono & Adam safely to China, I suppose the argument could be made that she preferred the "dangerous" life of a CIA operative to the more "sedate" life of a retired schoolteacher. And that she went back to the CIA to keep from having to answer all those "pesky" questions Steve keeps asking her about her connection to Wo Fat, her life in the CIA, what she did that could've contributed to Wo Fat/Victor Hesse wanting Papa McG dead (I think he considers her faked death contributory to Papa McG's murder), etc. Respectfully, you said Mary was sent (from Hawaii) "to live in the States" with Aunt Deb (apparently Papa McG's sister although, since she's being played by the redheaded Carol Burnett, she looks more like she should be related to Christine Lahti's Doris McG character than William Sadler's John McG character). At the time Mary & Steve left Hawaii, it was also a US State (having been 1 since 1959). They were actually sent from Hawaii *to the Mainland US*, not from a foreign country to the US, as you stated. Just saying. Having said that, towards the beginning of Ep 214, Pūolo (Package)--the ep where Rachel calls Danny (whom I still suspect is actually supposed to be the father) to coach/assist her in the birth of her son, Charles, since her current husband, Stan,'s in Beijing on a business trip--there's a flashback where Papa McG tells a younger version of Steve he & Mary will be moving to the Mainland the next day (apparently to keep them safe while Papa's investigating Doris's death or whatever). As you said, he tells Steve that Mary will be living with their Aunt Deb. He then tells Steve that "Uncle" Joe (Joe White) pulled some strings & Steve would be attending The Army/Navy Academy, & that he & Mary would only be a few hours away from each other (implying they could visit each other anytime they wanted, & that they were separated for their own safety--harder for "enemies" to get them both when separated than when together). By the way, The Army/Navy Academy is a *real* boarding school, in Carlsbad, California, for (if I remember correctly) High School age students intending to enter the Army or Navy (or perhaps West Point or Annapolis), if not other branches of military service. Assuming Mary was living with Aunt Deb somewhere in/near Los Angeles (especially given Aunt Deb's singing background), then Steve & Mary would've only been a few hours away from each other & could, at least until Steve went to Annapolis, legitimately have seen each other more frequently than it seems they did according to show canon. As for Lou/Chi McBride, Chi definitely has the acting "chops" to be a regular, so I have no problem with them making him 1, even if they'd kept Lou in his original job with HPD's SWAT team & as more of an antagonist to Steve/Five-0 like he started out. But I think they added Lou to the Five-0 team to help cover for Danny's more frequent absences from the team/eps (due to Scott's allegedly renegotiated shooting schedule, minimizing the amount of time he has to spend in Hawaii--which I can kinda understand, at least now, if his baby daughter & her mother are based in LA & not in Hawaii), so the team would (hopefully) always have at least 4 members on hand & not seem "shorthanded", which it would--to me, anyway--with only 3 members.
  6. People magazine photo: Proof That Keri Russell's Still Got It http://www.people.com/people/mobile/gallery/0,,20893618_30285543,00.html?xid=socialflow_twitter_peoplemag From the Fox Networks' All-Star Party Last Night in Pasadena, California (Most likely held in conjunction with the Fox Networks'/show's panels at the aforementioned Television Critics Association Winter Meeting)
  7. USAToday: 'The Americans' Spies Wrestle With Family Issues http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2015/01/18/fx-the-americans-keri-russell/21965947/ Also, today was FX Network's day at the Winter 2015 Television Critics Association (TCA) Meeting, held in Los Angeles--kind of a big deal in the entertainment/TV industry. Their last show panel was for The Americans, held within, maybe, the last 6 hours or so (maybe a little more, maybe a little less). It included showrunners, Matthew, Keri, & Noah Emmerich (maybe others; that's all the actors I know were there). If you're interested there are a lot of Twitter Tweets (really too many to link to here) from the panel in Twitter accounts for, like, TVGuide & Variety (TV/entertainment industry publications); I haven't really seen any in the more show-, showrunner, actor, or FX network-related accounts. You kinda just have to read the last few hours of Tweets in the appropriate feeds until you start seeing the show/actors/etc. mentioned. Sorry...
  8. According to this week's edition of Five-0 Redux, an "ep recap/review/look at Hawaiian culture as it relates to the ep & series" blog which appears every Saturday (it used to run every Tuesday, when the show aired on Mondays) in the Honolulu Pulse section of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper (The blog's written by a now-former Honolulu resident & Hawaiian native with professional ties to all kinds of writing & teaching), it's thought to be more likely inspired by the 1946 escape of 4 boys who were residents of the Waialeʻe Industrial School in Hawaii. See the 6th paragraph down in the linked blog, I think under the pic of Masi as Max & Scott as Danny from the ep (I tried to copy & paste the relevant paragraph/info but couldn't, possibly 'cause of the coding on that page or something): http://www.honolulupulse.com/2015/01/five-0-redux-never-forget/ But yeah, it could've also been inspired by the Florida story, depending on the writer's frame of reference/amount of research for the script's storyline, etc. And possibly also inspired by more stories of this type we haven't even heard about yet.
  9. Lenkov's already Tweeted the kid's coming back: https://twitter.com/plenkov/status/556290147231100928 He further/later Tweeted, which I didn't copy the link to (actually couldn't since I'd already copied the other 1), that he's in the teaser/"cold open" (pre-main titles scene) to Ep 518 (which is the ep that's still in production, to the best of my knowledge).
  10. I don't know how soon amazon gets their TV video content either; I buy my TV ep videos from iTunes (since I have an iPod & the last time I checked amazon's videos weren't in a format playable on iTunes/iPods). But I would think iTunes & amazon get their TV show videos (& other downloadable content) around the same time of day/night.Having said that, I know from experience that (when it comes to the show I buy regularly from them which, I have to admit, isn't The Americans) their TV ep videos usually are available for purchase & downloading by around 3-3:30AM US Eastern Time, very late the same night/very early the morning after the ep/show involved airs here. I think they don't post the eps until they've aired in all the US time zones, including Alaska & Hawaii Time. For example, if you're into Hawaii Five-0 that airs at 9PM US Eastern Time on Friday nights. When they air a new ep, you can usually find it on iTunes 6-6 1/2 hours later, or around 3-3:30AM US Eastern Time that same Friday night/early Saturday morning. So I would think you could find The Americans on iTunes & amazon around 3-3:30AM US Eastern Time the same Wednesday it airs/aka early Thursday morning of the same week. If it's not there quite that early, it should at least be on both sites within 24 hours of airing on FX. Hope this helps & wasn't too confusing.
  11. I agree. At this point maybe outside assistance/therapy for Grover's daughter is probably indicated, & would've been sought out by any other parent/family by now (like Danny &/or Rachel, maybe even "Step-Stan" given his apparent wealth that's been alluded to on the show; especially given that Gracie was so much younger than Grover's daughter when she was kidnapped). However, they seem to be playing it that the way of Grover/his family is to handle stuff like this "within the family", without outside help from "strangers" (psychologists, etc.), perhaps even to the detriment of the person needing the help. Yes, that kind of (or more than kind of) contradicts the idea of Grover's "venting" about it with Chin, Steve, or any other Five-0 member; but it also (to me) isn't contradictory, because the Five-0 team treats each other as if they are family (& Chin & Kono actually are family--cousins--in this version). So, to Grover, talking to Chin (or Steve, or whomever) is still perhaps "keeping it in the family", the extended, non-blood version of it anyway. Besides, the team is as aware of Grover's daughter's kidnapping as they are of Gracie's, & I'd argue they were affected, as a team, by both. The only other thing I'm thinking is we may eventually learn that perhaps the nightmares/Grover's daughter's continuing trauma may be caused by something she's keeping to herself about what happened during the kidnapping (Could Ian--Nick Jonas's character--have raped her, maybe? We were never told she went to a hospital/doctor for any kind of exam after she escaped/Wo Fat let her go.)... Or maybe she's having trouble dealing with Wo Fat having murdered Ian in cold blood in front of her face.
  12. I basically agree that Grace is 12, shouldn't be treated like she's 4, & should be OK to stay by herself for a bit, if needed. But I also get that Steve & Danny's (in particular) overprotectiveness of her in show canon is probably supposed to tie back to the events of the S2 ep (I think Ep 215) in which an ex New Jersey cop partner/training officer of Danny's, whom Danny helped send to prison for Corruption, came to Oahu, kidnapped Grace for revenge, & was gonna kill her if Danny didn't kill Rachel's (his ex/Gracie's Mother) new husband, Stan, supposedly for causing Danny & Rachel's breakup. Granted, Gracie was only around 9, in canon, when it happened, but she was way too trusting of the guy who took her (he knew a lot of stuff he could use to get her to trust him) & they didn't have a code word if someone unexpected tried to pick her up somewhere, etc.; she was the *perfect* target. And she, Grover's daughter, & the team's other loved ones, can still be a target of "enemies" of Five-0. So, yeah, I get the overprotectiveness--especially when it comes to Gracie (& Grover's daughter)--'cause she's (they've) already been directly in harm's way 'cause of her father's job. And Danny has been pretty overprotective of her since, at least initially panicking when she's out of his sight... even when she's with someone he trusts, like his original girlfriend, Gabby (the museum curator). See the end of Ep 217 for that example. Steve had to talk him down. Danny also blamed himself for the kidnapping, 'cause the perp was his friend, originally, & he was responsible for putting the guy into prison for being a "dirty cop". As for Steve, when Grace was kidnapped & they hadn't yet found her he was completely frantic in the team's office--as if Gracie was his daughter, not Danny's/his daughter as much as she is Danny's (to be fair, she's special to the WHOLE team, not just Danny)--while overseeing the investigation & Gracie's intended safe recovery. So, yeah I also totally get why Steve behaved as he did before he left her. Plus there was the "If something happens to you, Danno's gonna KILL me!" factor. I have to say the "So", etc., thing doesn't bug me. Even though it may not be the best grammar, it's the way "real" people tend to talk.
  13. Executive Producer Joel Fields Tweets there's a raffle for tickets to The Americans' premiere event, apparently to be held in NYC on January 26th: https://twitter.com/joel_fields/status/556104880767512576
  14. Pretty cool. Thanks for linking it. The real (supposed to be real?) WH guy (at the beginning of the thing) is the current Press Secretary (they called him Josh, I think, & I think Josh somebody is the current WH Press Secretary)? I recognize a lot of the Obama Cabinet, staff, etc., but I don't really recognize him.
  15. Imagine my surprise when, while I was watching American Idol tonight, I heard Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik's voice in the background of an audition, singing "our team's song", All For One! It was on around 9:47PM Eastern (maybe a bit earlier), or about 1 hour, 47 minutes in (again give or take a minute or so); it aired in the background of separate consecutive auditions for a boyfriend & girlfriend. I'm going by the clock on my iPod for the timing, which may or may not be completely accurate, in case you wanna look for this & you're west of the Eastern & Central Time Zones. I know the song itself got some publicity in conjunction with the 100th episode, so we're not the only ones who know about it; but I was still surprised it was used in Idol tonight even though I don't know of any instances of radio play as a single & I'm pretty sure that, even though it was written for "our" show/characters specifically, nobody's prohibited it from being used somewhere besides H50 Ep 100--so it's not out of the realm of possibility it could be heard outside of H50 as well.
  16. Yeah. When I think of the show, the "original" cast members, if you will, are who I normally think of too. And I think the same could probably be said of others who watched the show regularly & others who didn't necessarily watch regularly but who still get a smile on their face when they read or hear that some (or all) of the surviving cast members have gotten together again, to promote/benefit some cause near & dear to their hearts or for whatever other reason there may be. I don't frequent the Funny or Die website--which it seems they were recording the thing for. If somebody here does, could you post when whatever they were taping the other day shows up (not sure if it's gonna be "big" enough to get coverage on the ET-type shows so interested people know when it's finally released to the public). Thanks!
  17. It'll be 9 years in May; the show ended in May, 2006 & it's now 2015. Time flies, huh? And, sadly, it wasn't even the entire surviving main (or popular recurring) cast members involved in this reunion. Among others, Stockard Channing & Rob Lowe don't appear to have been involved in whatever brought them together this time (since they weren't in the cast pics that have been released from this, & Rob hasn't Tweeted about it); nor were Bartlet's VP's, Tim Matheson & Gary Cole. But neither were Alan Alda or Jimmy Smits, who were also main title actors in their time with the show. It seems every time someone reunites cast members from the show for something (the Entertainment Weekly cast reunion, for their annual "Reunions" issue, a few years ago--soon after Janel had her son, who's apparently gonna be 5 next month [according to her Wikipedia page]; the video that supported the candidacy of Mary McCormack's sister for a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court [which she won, by the way]; or this thing for Funny or Die), they always get a different "configuration" of actors/characters to participate (some perhaps due to availability; some perhaps due to *possibly* wanting to put the show behind them/not wanting to be further typecast as "political types"). Yes certain actors have been involved with all 3 of those things, or 2 of the 3 at most, but others have only been involved in 1 of the "reunions". And the actors/characters involved are always from the "Bartlet Presidency" era of the show, not from the era involving the election to succeed the Bartlet Presidency (probably because the Bartlet Presidency was when the show was most popular).
  18. I totally agree with you on the writers' need to make Scott's (or whomever's, especially if they play any of the original core characters of Steve, Danny, Chin or Kono) absences a bit more seamless & not ignored. I'd even take semi-lame excuses like "home with the flu, recovering from an emergency appendectomy (or other surgery), had wisdom teeth/dental surgery, since he's a single, primary custodial parent Danny had to stay home because Gracie had 1 of those things I named happen to her, etc." They at least bothered to write it into the repeat they aired last Saturday night. That was the ep where Lou & Steve were still fighting like cats & dogs whenever they were together, but Governor Denning paired them to serve an arrest warrant on Nick Jonas' computer hacker character (the ep where we met the character, not where he kidnapped Grover's daughter & Wo Fat shot him to death). Towards the beginning of that ep, Steve's on a phone call with someone he obviously knows. When he hangs up, he tells Chin, I think, that it was Danny calling from Jersey, where he'd gone for his Dad's 60th birthday party; Danny was calling to tell Steve about the fancy foreign sports car his Dad had bought himself for his birthday. I can't remember if Lenkov wrote the ep, or who did write it, but I loved that they threw that bit in, instead of leaving us to imagine what happened to Danny so he couldn't work the case that week. I just wish they'd be more consistent about excusing a core character's/actor's absence (if planned) in an ep. They do it 1 week, but not the next. Sheesh... I also appreciated what they were able to do, basically "on the fly", after Alex needed his medical leave & they had to rewrite the NCIS: Los Angeles crossover so Chin & Danny were the lead Five-0 investigators on the case, instead of the originally intended Steve & Danny. But I'll also never forget the unexpected "Danno" reference in the storyline, between Kensi & Deeks, where Deeks teased Kensi about being attracted to "Danno" (& calling him that) even though there was NO reference to the "Danno" nickname in either the H50 part of the ep or before that point in the NCIS: LA ep & no way the NCIS team could really know about that nickname. That was the ONLY thing that needed to be rewritten & was missed, at least that I caught. Mostly 'cause it stuck out like a sore thumb. The way it was played, I don't even think you could buy they found out about the nickname offscreen. I mean, Chin doesn't use it at all. The only people/characters who use it are Gracie & Steve (& Lori used it in the S2 Halloween ep, but mostly 'cause she was pissed Danny was teasing her about what kind of Halloween costume she'd changed out of when they caught the case in the ep--so I count & don't count that as a "legitimate" use of the nickname).
  19. According to this Tweet from Entertainment Weekly magazine, Bradley Whitford has been cast as the father of the character Jake in an upcoming ep of Brooklyn 99, which airs on Fox. https://twitter.com/ew/status/555073373135728640
  20. As I remember (sadly, I haven't been able to watch my DVDs in awhile), Game On is the ep where Abbey (not Abby) cuts Jed's tie before he debates Governor Rob Ritchie (R-FL), as played by James Brolin (aka Mr. Barbra Streisand). I'm pretty sure 1 of her lines in that scene even includes the phrase "game on". As I remember, she says "Game on, Boyfriend!" I think as she cuts the tie, or afterwards as everyone's scrambling for a replacement tie & they're calling Jed & Governor Ritchie to the stage to start the debate.
  21. I thought Lisa Edelstein's new show, A Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, was airing on Bravo (former home of TWW repeats) not E!; maybe it airs on both channels since they have the same corporate parent, NBC-Universal (shrugs). I also thought I saw Jane Lynch as 1 of the reporters in CJ's Briefing Room in more eps than ITSOTG II. I'm probably wrong about that too. Anyway... Now for the real reason I'm posting... If you've ever wanted to see what Bradley Whitford would apparently look like as *a blonde female*, check out the picture/screencap used with this Tweet (Bradley's on the far left in the pic/cap): https://twitter.com/variety/status/554466962625933312 The Tweet was posted last night by Variety (1 of the major entertainment industry publications) after actor Jeffrey Tambor won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy. Jeffrey won for his role as a late in life, male-to-female, transgender person in the series Transparent, which airs/streams through amazon.com Prime Instant Video (according to the amazon.com site; I think you may have to be in their Prime [2-day guaranteed merchandise delivery] program to watch it, but I'm not positive). It just started airing in September, 2014. The pic/screencap involved is from an ep of the series. According to Bradley's most recent TV filmography in his Wikipedia page, which I saw *before* I saw the screencap & realized he was in it, Bradley played a cross-dressing (male dressing as female) character called Marcy, apparently in more than 1 ep of the show (I think his TV filmography said he only did 2 eps though).
  22. imdb/imdb TV has an exclusive trailer for S1&2, for those who need to catch up before S3 starts on FX on the 28th. The link is in the Tweet linked here: https://twitter.com/imdbtv/status/554011223277043714

  24. No, Danny's absence wasn't mentioned. I guess they're so frequent now the writers either can't think of enough plausible explanations for them, or they don't think they have to bother. And that kinda bugs me when they won't even write in a "throwaway" line explaining his (or Alex/Steve, Kono/Grace P., DDK/Chin)'s glaring absence from an ep... like when Steve said Danny was on the North Shore (taking Grace to Cheerleading camp, when he also ended up meeting his apparent current girlfriend, Amber Vitale) & not working the team's case. It would be nice, for the at least 1 viewer who might notice the absence. You know? As far as Scott's concerned, I've heard for awhile now he renegotiated for less screen time/more free time for his other pursuits/life in LA. I've also heard he supposedly only works on the set in Hawaii something like every couple of weeks (so he may actually be filming scenes for multiple eps simultaneously when he's on set now). I don't know how true either of those things are though. I could see him probably wanting more time in LA this season--at least since his daughter was born right at the end of the summer hiatus. Her mother/Scott's partner was workIng in the wardrobe department on the show, I think since it started. I'm not sure she's working in the wardrobe department this season, even since her maternity leave/Family Medical Leave Act time off (normally up to 3 months, or early October in this case) should've ended. If she (& the baby) is based in LA now, & Scott's as good a Dad as I think we all hope he is, I could see him wanting to spend more time in LA to be with them (or at least with his daughter). I've also heard his partner, like Scott, doesn't like being in Hawaii that much; so the pregnancy at least gave her an "out" as far as working in Hawaii's concerned (though I've never heard for sure she's actually not working on the show anymore). I know all that probably begs the question of "Why don't they just write Scott/Danny out?". I think it's 'cause they don't wanna lose the chemistry between Alex & Scott & between their characters, or even the chemistry between Scott & Teilor Grubbs/Danny & his daughter, which helped make the show a hit in S1. They'll deal with having less of it, if they have to, but don't wanna lose it completely. They did write the original Danny out before the original show ended though (James MacArthur had done at least 10 of the 12 seasons & wanted to do other things), so writing Danny out isn't unprecedented.
  25. The English translation of the title is "Stolen". If you read the press releases in the H50 section that are posted at cbspressexpress.com (which I assume you did to get the plot summary you posted, which *is* accurate based on what was in the ep press release), the English translation for the title is *always* included somewhere (I forget where, specifically,) in that press release. If you got the plot summary there, you should've been able to get the English title translation too. If you want to include it as the source of your quoted plot summary (as I do when starting an ep thread), here's the link to the ep's press release at cbspressexpress.com: http://cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/hawaii-five-0/releases/view?id=41551 The English title translation can be found in the linked press release in a sentence in parentheses between the plot summary paragraph & the "Cheat Tweet" info for the ep, by the way.
