  1. I haven't heard anything, either way, about Chevrolet this season. I know they stopped running that "There's more to ride in Hawaii than waves" (or whatever it was--which sounded like a double entendre, to me & a friend, however it was worded) ad at the beginning of the eps as of this season, & I know Chin apparently drives a vintage Mustang this season, apparently without the Mustang insignia on the front of the car. But... Steve's also still driving Danny's Camaro (a Chevrolet car) & I'm pretty sure Steve's still driving a Chevy Silverado truck--when he's not driving Danny's Camaro--& Kono's still driving a Chevy Cruze car (I still don't know what Grover drives, or if Max still has the yellow Camaro he bought in S2). That makes the Chevrolet thing a bit confusing. And that's all I really know. If you can read the end credits fast enough, that's where they list the corporations who, basically, sponsor the show; you can check there for Chevrolet when it airs Friday night--but, again, they go by really fast on CBS. Of course, it might be easier if you recorded an ep, downloaded 1, or waited for S5 to come out on at least DVD. That way, you can freeze the section of the credits where they list the corporate sponsors & see if Chevrolet's still listed or not. Now for some (probably minor) news... Not that we physically see her all that often, but there's a chance we might not see Max's girlfriend, Sabrina/actress Rumer Willis, in the show anytime soon. There's a rumor going around that she's 1 of the celebrities on the upcoming Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars, to be partnered with pro dancer Valentin (Val) Chimerkovskiy (brother of Maks). Then again, Rumer may still be able to do H50 (if they need her) & DWTS at the same time. A lot of the celebs have juggled DWTS & other commitments in previous seasons. Though they mainly rehearse the dances in LA, if necessary the pro dancer will also accompany the celeb when they have an out of town commitment & rehearse "on location", as it were, returning to LA to do the live show on Mondays. And I think, maybe, the Monday show may be the only problem if she is in both shows in the next few weeks, given the normal 8-day shooting schedule on H50. Although, if they keep Sabrina's scenes to a minimum, like usual, & everybody else's schedules can get coordinated with hers (particularly Masi's, since he also does "outside" work & most of the Sabrina scenes are with Max), they can probably find a way to film her scenes in much less than the full 8 days & have her back in LA on Monday night for DWTS since most guest stars/recurring cast members usually don't have as many scenes in an ep as, say, Scott's Dad did when he was on the show in S2. They're supposed to announce the new DWTS celebs on GMA today (which starts in a little less than 3 1/2 hours). We'll/we should know whether or not she's actually on the next DWTS by 9AM Eastern.
  2. They've had on 1 Bachelorette, so far. Trista Sutter, who was Trista Rehn when she was a Bachelorette, was on the 1st season of DWTS. Otherwise, it's been former Bachelors or the ladies they chose from (none of whom ended up on The Bachelorette after being chosen or rejected by the guy).
  3. Responding to the bolded. Your impression about hiring a babysitter to stay with Paige & Henry if they had some espionage to deal with is spot on. Elizabeth &/or Philip mentions a babysitter is staying with the kids more than once in at least S1 (I can't remember specific eps anymore--but I'm pretty sure it was most/all of the at least S1 eps where they left from home late in the afternoon/at night to do a mission together; during the day they tended to leave the kids to sit for themselves). I think we even see 1 of the babysitters in at least 1 ep (I think she was the standard teenage neighbor girl babysitter, as I remember), & I remember Elizabeth giving the standard "You be good for the sitter" warning, primarily to Paige as I remember, as they're leaving the house in 1 ep. They claim they're going out for dinner, to a movie, or a generic "date night" usually. I said, prior to arriving here (arriving at this site), that they probably left the kids with a sitter at night so, hopefully, they'll have someone to take care of them/take them in--at least temporarily--if Philip & Elizabeth are captured or killed during a nighttime mission (since being alone at night is often scarier, &/or more problematic, for kids). I still stand by that. But now I'm wondering why they tend to leave the kids without a sitter if they have to go somewhere when the kids are home during the daytime (like when they got kidnapped in S2 & tortured by Claudia & other agents). If Philip & Elizabeth are captured or killed during the daytime, the kids will need someone to stay with, at least temporarily, just like they would if something happened at night.
  4. It turns out JK Simmons also played a character named Jerry Luppin in the mothership's S4 episode Sanctuary, & a character in a Homicide: Life on the Street ep that's connected to/continues the mothership's Charm City ep before taking the role of Dr. Skoda in L&O.
  5. The ratings for the Pilot were actually really strong. At least according to TV by the Numbers/Zap2It.com. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/02/20/tv-ratings-thursday-two-and-a-half-man-finale-strong-the-odd-couple-debuts-big-scandal-how-to-get-away-with-murder-up-the-blacklist-flat/365436/ The Pilot got a 3.1 in the coveted 18-49 Demographic; a 10 Share; & had 13.57 Million viewers. Guess we'll have to see if/how long they can maintain those great numbers, since the Pilot airing was preceded by the 2-episode Finale of Two and a Half Men &, therefore, the ratings could be a lot larger--because of that--than we can expect for future eps.
  6. Matthew Perry also mentioned, in a The Hollywood Reporter interview related to the show which I linked to in the Pilot thread, that Lauren Graham will apparently be at least recurring as Gaby, Oscar's ex in this version.
  7. Now that I think about it, & you mention it, that makes PERFECT sense, about DDK's perceived absence this ep! I thought maybe he had to go to Atlanta & do more shooting on that movie he's in (the Insurgent[?] sequel). I know, from following him on Twitter, many viewers' favorite Director, Larry Teng (the milestone Ep 100/507 among many others including, I think, the upcoming Ep 518 & many fan favorite eps in S1-4), usually would fly into Honolulu *at least* a week (usually more) before 1 of his eps was due to be produced, so he could go location scouting & do whatever other episode "prep" was necessary (he sadly won't be Directing anymore eps... Not for awhile anyway... He got a new gig as a Producer/Director on the upcoming season of Graceland, which airs on USA Network on cable/satellite; that just went into production or is about to, I think--he mentioned the show again recently on his Twitter). The ep DDK directed *is* airing next week (it's the "McDanno sharing an apartment on a long stakeout & being bothered by nosy neighbors at the same time" ep), & I now remember Larry Teng commenting about DDK joining the Directorial ranks, & posting some minor Behind the Scenes photos of it, on at least his Twitter & Instagram, while he was on the set/in town prepping the next ep (518), which he was scheduled to Direct.
  8. This week's ep-related podcast with the Producers apparently discusses the Yaz album Philip got for Paige. Here's the show's Tweet with the Podcast link in it: https://twitter.com/theamericansfx/status/568538906674606080
  9. According to her Wikipedia page, Annet Mahendru--who plays Nina--is Afghanistan-born, of Russian & Indian parentage. Yes, Russian is 1 of the languages in which she's fluent. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annet_Mahendru
  10. I wanted to add, in my original post to you, & forgot, that I'm surprised you brought up Danny being off by himself... Again... in this ep. Someone, on another ep discussion thread I read, was wondering why they filmed CHIN separately from the rest of the team in this ep (or so they claimed). Maybe that's what actually surprised me, as opposed to your bringing up their doing another "separate Danny" storyline this week, someone thinking Chin's/DDK's parts had been filmed separately for this week's ep.
  11. With all due respect, you're a little confused. The episode you refer to as West Wing Special Episode is an *actual* "documentary", of sorts, where real-life former Presidents & former White House staffers were interviewed about their experiences living/working in the real White House, with their comments "illustrated" (if you will) with mostly appropriate (for the comments) clips from different eps of the show. Chronologically, I think it comes before the episode Stirred, where (as I remember) Jed learns about then-Vice President Hoynes' alcoholism. The original poster was talking about the Season 4 episode Access, in which a TV show that sounded as if it would air on PBS--I think based on their Frontline series, maybe--followed then-Press Secretary CJ around, for a "Day in the Life of" style documentary. We the viewers watched the documentary as if it was the ep, as it aired on whatever network it was filmed for--a "show within a show" thing. It was a documentary which was, they stated in the episode, apparently held for airing, at CJ's request, until the Bartlet Administration left office. So we technically did a "time jump" watching it. And it was a documentary which said, in its narration, that CJ was the only woman to have served 2 terms as White House Press Secretary. This is a comment which would come up for debate as an (inadvertent) error once the show was retooled, or whatever you choose to call it, & CJ was named White House Chief of Staff during Bartlet's second term, since CJ didn't serve 2 full terms as Press Secretary & the original interpretation of the documentary's comment was that CJ served 2 full terms as Press Secretary (which she later ended up not doing). As for Isaac & Ishmael, even though it was filmed at the last minute, in sort of response to the events of 9/11/01, it technically IS the 1st episode of S3, as it's called in many/most/all sources. This is simply because it WAS the 1st episode of the series to actually air in S3, superceding the ep that was actually filmed--& intended to air--as the 1st ep of S3. You're accurate regarding the ep where Toby "saves" Social Security (or at least attempts to) though.
  12. I think in calling version #3 "the original" (which I'm guilty of doing, as well), they/I/we mean "the original TV version"--which it is (the Klugman/Randall version)--not the original iteration of the source material, period (which would, of course, be the Broadway play by Neil Simon). I believe they said this was the *5th* version of the material, in the Hollywood Reporter interview I linked with the Showrunners, Matthew & Thomas. That counts, I'm pretty sure, the original Broadway play; the movie; the Klugman/Randall TV version; the short-lived African-American cast TV reboot, starring Sanford and Son's Demond Wilson as Oscar & Barney Miller's Ron Glass as Felix; & now this 2nd TV reboot version, with Matthew as Oscar & Thomas as Felix. Technically speaking, there's 7 different iterations (that I know of, for sure) based on the same original material--the 1st 5 listed above, PLUS a cartoon version (I think from the 70's or 80's, & I admit I actually used to watch it as a kid/younger person), which was mentioned in the interview I linked, called The *Oddball* Couple, in which Oscar was a dog--a big ole messy Sheepdog, as I remember--& Felix was a fastidious cat, of a breed I can't remember. I think they maintained the names Felix & Oscar, but I can't remember. They also did a "gender-reversal" version of the play, with I think a mainly female cast, starring Rita Moreno as Florence, the female Felix (as I remember, & it took me a few minutes to remember the female name for the original Felix character), & Sally Struthers as Olive, the female version of Oscar (SS was a frequent celebrity player on Dick Clark's $10,000/25,000/100,00 Pyramid game shows, back in the day, & I distinctly remember her plugging "the female Odd Couple" on some of these shows). This version played in/was to play in various cities around the country, but I'm not sure if it was ever on Broadway.
  13. Scott has said he prefers the "character" stories to the "procedural" stories. So that may be 1 reason why he was shot separately from the team; they've done it in other eps, as far back as S1, where Danny had a "character" driven story vs. the usual "procedural" story in an ep. Plus, I guess Scott's been on something of a different shooting schedule for awhile now, compared to, say, Alex & some others on the cast, which is why Danny isn't in some eps at all now. I've heard different versions of what his schedule is. He either has a shorter week, each week, than everyone else (& does all his scenes in a shorter timeframe), or he's only on set in Honolulu, like, every couple of weeks (& who knows if that means he's only shooting scenes for 1 ep while he's there, or he's shooting scenes for multiple eps). I'm pretty sure he's been given more time in LA during this shooting season (for the current S5) now that he's the Father of a 7 month-old daughter, who was born the day after S5 filming started this past July, & who (at least mostly) apparently lives in LA with her Mother, Scott's partner Kacy, who used to work in the H50 Wardrobe Department at the studio/on the set in Honolulu. And yeah, they probably should've grabbed something to keep pressure on the wound. But obviously the writers didn't think of it, so I guess we're just supposed to believe they were (or Amber/Melissa was) only thinking of getting Danny to medical help/the hospital fast; not about keeping him from bleeding all over the car (which should've been a rental, Not Danny's car,'cause the plot description--or something else I read about the ep--claimed they went on a trip to Maui, & didn't stay on Oahu). The actress who played the ATF Agent was Melina Kanakaredes. She's American, of Greek origin. I'm pretty sure she was in a (long-cancelled, & taped in New York City) CBS soap years ago. She was also in the NBC series Providence a few years ago, & previously/most recently worked with H50 showrunner Peter Lenkov when she starred in the 1st 5 (I think) of the 9 seasons of his previous show, CSI: NY, on CBS. As for the last golf shot, they were probably joking, but 1 of the writers said on Twitter during the ep (a group of the writers do, like, a live "chat" with the fans on Twitter during at least the Eastern/Central Time airing of new eps--& sometimes during the Mountain/Pacific Time airing, as well) that it took something like 349 takes to get the putt (the last golf shot) to go into the hole.
  14. I didn't think it was a vacation rental, like you or I might (theoretically) rent. I thought Danny said, to Amber/Melissa, it belonged to either her boss or a friend of the boss, & it was offered to Danny when he went to her boss to arrange her time off for the trip to start with. And, yeah, I would guess Danny would have to make up for the damages somehow.
  15. My apologies. I didn't go back & re-read your original post, & I probably should've. I will from now on, if I need clarification before posting.
  16. Oscar & Felix's exes aren't Blanche & Gloria (respectively) in this version. Respectively, they're Gaby & Ashley (I guess that's how they're spelling her character name in the show, until I see it otherwise somewhere)
  17. Commenting on the bolded part of the quote. Not for nothing but, while I wouldn't necessarily say he was "hung up on her", in real life Jack Klugman always seemed to be really close to, & friendly with, his ex-wife--actress Brett Somers, who's probably best-known as a Match Game panelist in the '70's but who (as I remember) also played Klugman's Oscar's ex, Blanche, on the original OC--even after at least he moved on to other relationships (& I don't think he stayed close just 'cause they had kids together). But I doubt Matthew modeled that aspect of his Oscar after that.
  18. Posting here because I think it's probably the most applicable thread (& I can't post in the small talk about the show thread 'cause I was the last poster there). Anyway... 1 of the accounts I follow on my Twitter is for M&Ms candy. As I think everybody knows, Oscar-nominated actor JK Simmons, who played Dr. Skoda--the psychiatrist the L&O detectives & DA's turned to after Dr. Olivet left--voices the yellow (peanut) M&M character in their commercials. M&Ms posted this Tweet about an hour ago, in the "name" of the yellow M&M (most/all of their Tweets are posted as if they're from the commercial characters), & I just had to share--it was too cute not to: https://twitter.com/mmschocolate/status/568931685926080512
  19. I thought I remembered Jack Klugman's Oscar as being at least something of a drinker (weren't there a few Oscar hangovers used for comic effect, back in the day?) & a gambler (betting on horses/other sports betting, at least--plus he does play Poker, which isn't exactly "not-gambling" since most Casinos do have Poker rooms). And, while I wouldn't exactly call it "womanizing", I seem to remember Klugman's Oscar noticing at least most of the pretty women who were in his vicinity. Maybe I'm wrong. But if I'm not, I kinda get what Matthew's talking about here.
  20. You can try copying & pasting just that part of the post, or copying & pasting the whole thing then removing the extraneous parts, & putting the quote tags on. Or you could set off the part you want to respond to in, like, italics or boldface, quote the whole post, & preface your reply by saying you're responding to the italicized/boldfaced part (I tend to do this option, when I remember to--it's kind of easier than editing the whole original post just to respond to part of it; especially when the original is a long post).
  21. Did you stop watching before/early in S4? Or are you joking?
  22. The Exec Producers (Garry Marshall [who was also involved with the Klugman/Randall version but I'm not sure about the Demond Wilson/Ron Glass version] & Robert [bob] Daily) & stars (Matthew Perry & Thomas Lennon) talk to The Hollywood Reporter about the show. http://m.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/odd-couple-matthew-perry-thomas-774785 Towards the end, they mention the Pilot (the 1 that aired last night) was a 2nd version of the Pilot. A different actress originally played Oscar's Assistant (who was played by Actress/Director Penny Marshall--aka Garry Marshall's sister--in the Klugman/Randall version). They then recast the Assistant part with Yvette Nicole Brown (who left Community because she needed shorter working hours [& apparently has them here] due to health problems--I think--with a family member; she's apparently their caregiver) & then they reshot the Pilot with her, which we saw last night.
  23. Well, "big bad"s are part of H50 "mythology", as it were. So there probably will be 1 (or more). Whether or not it turns out to be Chin's ex-Bro-in-Law (is he really an ex, or are they still related, technically, even though Malia's dead?) remains to be seen. Right after Wo Fat died, someone Tweeted Lenkov asking if the new "big bad" would be a "reboot" of the Vashon family, which they apparently heard somewhere. The Vashon family, for those who don't remember/aren't familiar, was featured in 3 eps of the original series (I don't remember if they were 3 consecutive eps, but I don't think they were), & they're a Mafia-like crime family who wreaked havoc in the islands. And Lenkov didn't respond to the Tweet, by the way.
  24. We haven't had any scenes at the travel agency yet this season--but we're only, what, 4 eps into the season? There's time. I'm pretty sure I remember scenes at the travel agency during the period when Philip & Elizabeth were estranged, before she was shot (I think I remember Philip leaving from there to try to help/rescue Elizabeth when he realized she was gonna go by herself on the mission where she ended up getting shot). There may have also been brief scenes set there in both of the previous seasons--if nothing else, so we'd know they weren't just saying they owned a travel agency. I also remember, I think also from the period when they were estranged, we met 1 of their co-workers/employees there, who was a Latino man.
  25. Who's the show's new Wo Fat? Get your possible answer here: http://www.tvguide.com/news/mega-buzz-hawaii-five-0-new-wo-fat-daniel-dae-kim/ And NO, that doesn't mean they're resurrecting Wo Fat from the dead &/or doing a recast of the character. That means who's going to be the show's next "big bad" (as Lenkov likes to say), at the same level of bad as (or even worse than) the late Wo Fat.
