  1. I just got Netflix in September, so I’m not positive if it’s actually been on 4 years or not. Remember, in TV now a season & a calendar year aren’t necessarily the same things anymore (ie you have multiple new airings/seasons/cycles of shows like Survivor during a calendar year). I think they might’ve done multiple seasons in a year at least once, but I might be wrong—& if so, I’ll come back & correct my statement. OK... this says the show premiered in February, 2016. So it’s been running for 3 calendar years (probably a little over that length of time by the time the new episodes are released by Netflix).

  6. I kinda paraphrased what Pat Boone said about his wife’s death. The actual statement, which speaks of her moving into “a beautiful new mansion in Heaven, prepared specifically for her and her husband by Jesus himself” can be found here, among other sources.
  7. Another question for any crocheters here. At least US crochet hooks normally show 3 different size parameters (letter size, number size, size in mm) on the packaging &/or the hook itself. Of those 3 parameters, which do you think is the most important to go by when matching a hook to a pattern if you can’t find/don’t have a hook which matches all the size parameters in said pattern (some patterns only mention letter & number size, & leave off mm size, for example)? I ask because I recently made a granny square messenger bag from a pattern/video tutorial found on YouTube. The pattern as written called for a size N hook, which they further described as a 9.00mm hook. The only hook I have that’s even close is a Susan Bates Silvalume size M, 13, 9.00mm. (I prefer Boye but use a mix of those & Susan Bates hooks because sometimes 1 company makes a hook the other doesn’t—like Susan Bates makes the size 7/4.5 aluminum hook & Boye doesn’t) & other times there might be a numerical/mm size discrepancy between the 2 brands even though the hooks’ letter size is the same. The finished bag looks good. So I guess it was OK to use the Susan Bates 9.00mm hook even though it was an M & the pattern said to use an N hook that was 9.00mm.
  8. Thanks. I didn’t realize. It seemed that kind of incident was back in the news lately, so I assumed it was a new event. Apologies.

  12. I really like that song too. But after awhile I think it gets tricky trying to figure out if it was just about her with each of the guys (separately, of course) or are there other relationships there.
  13. I’ve got a pet peeve about 1 of the crafts I do. Among other crafts I do, I crochet. There’s this brand of crochet hooks that’s called Clover Amour (like the French & Spanish word for “love”). I’ve been watching crochet videos, including videos specifically about the merits of 1 brand of hooks over another brand or other brands, on YouTube recently. For some insane reason, a number of the video hosts cannot say the word “Amour” properly (like they’ve never seen or heard it before, & you know they had to have seen &/or heard it before; most people have) & it just drives me apeshit! Mostly because they otherwise seem pretty knowledgeable. There’s 1 YouTube host, who’s still active, who said “armor” instead of “Amour”; another, who I don’t know the current YouTube posting status of, called them “Clover Armoire” hooks... an armoire being a chest of drawers, not a crochet hook. How hard is it to get the word in question right?? Thanks for letting me vent!

  15. Respectfully, I disagree with the bolded comment. The Oscars (actual ceremony) starts at around 5:30PM Pacific Time. But the nominees & other attendees have to arrive who knows how much earlier than that, so the nominees can navigate through the red carpet interviews & the others can just get to their seats, or in the venue, before airtime. So, let’s say most nominees/attendees will be leaving home or their hotel perhaps between 3:30 & 4PM Pacific. Then the ceremony could last 3 to 3 & a half hours, or longer. Unless they ate breakfast or tried to eat something while getting ready (& hoping they don’t spill on their fancy duds while doing that)—& many nominees may be either too nervous (or superstitious) to eat before the ceremony—if they don’t bring munchies from home, or the bar doesn’t have hors d’ oeuvres to go with the drinks, they won’t be eating until the Governor’s Ball, other after parties they may attend, or until they hit up In and Out Hamburgers or their other favorite junk food joint after the awards. That could be around 8:30/9PM, or even later. Some people who go to this either can’t wait that long to eat, once their nervousness about winning or not ends, or perhaps they need to eat at a certain time for medical reasons, & they can’t change it just because of the Oscars. So, some people may need food during the ceremony, I think. Plus, like @scarynikki12said, they’re all in much better moods when they’ve had something to eat (&, I hope, less likely to get drunk if booze were the only thing available to consume). If having a food-related bit in the ceremony helps, I’m all for it.
  16. I was also wondering what Michael B. Jordan was wearing over his jacket. The flower pattern didn’t work for me. Did anybody else notice 1 of Alan Alda’s hands (I think screen left) was shaking as he spoke? I wondered if maybe it was related to his Parkinson’s. I also thought it was nice Tom Hanks perhaps seemed to see it too (in my opinion) & he offered to help Alan carry the award offstage. They each seemed to be holding half of it, the last I saw. It does look like it’s kinda heavy.
  17. Aww man... I liked his music. The hits, anyway. By the way, regarding the recent passing of Pat Boone’s wife Shirley... I met the entire family, including all 4 daughters... which included Debby pre-You Light Up My Life, during my March of Dimes-related era & had a photo op with them. The photo is all 7 of us sitting on a long bench seat; 2 daughters on each end, Shirley on the left middle, Pat next to her & me on his lap, as I remember. We were all at the US Capitol building on the same day. I was in the midst of a 2-day “cattle call” photo op with as many US Senators as were able to participate; I never heard what the Boones were there for. But somehow we managed to connect. They were all just as nice as it’s always said he & his family are. I don’t remember where I read it, but I liked the comment in Pat Boone’s statement on his wife’s death where he said something like, “she’s just changed her address; I’ll eventually be moving in with her again”.
  18. And who gave her a Golden Globe Award & 2 children... not to mention a presumably large divorce settlement when they split up.

  20. The film I previously mentioned was actually shot in Chile, not Peru (apologies). It will apparently be on Netflix at some point. Here are some other details about it from last October. I’m guessing this is where he’s been when he hasn’t been on H50 in recent eps.
