  1. I noticed at the beginning of today's episode (a brunch of mostly sweet stuff for her mother & grandpa) she now calls herself a "chef", instead of a "culinary instructor", in her voice over at the opening of the show.
  2. Southerner by birth & for about my 1st 3 years of life, when we moved North. So I prefer Coke brand drinks--Coke, then Cherry Coke when I discovered flavored colas were even better than plain (I also LOVED Coke Lime, which really was available for far too short a time); now my preferred soda pop is Coke Cherry Zero (family's on my case about needing to lose some weight & drinking too many regular sodas, though I know drinking diet sodas doesn't mean you'll lose weight. But Cherry Zero's the ONLY "diet" drink that, to me, doesn't have that icky "diet" aftertaste; I think it tastes like the "fat" version & it's the only "diet" thing I'll drink). I started drinking Coke when I was pretty little. I also drink Pepsi (when Coke products aren't available at a restaurant/venue), & I really loved their briefly available lemon & lime flavors, but haven't yet tried Cherry Pepsi; Root Beer, 7-Up/Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Mr. Pibb, & Orange & Grape Sodas. Also regular & strawberry lemonades, Kool-Aid, & some fruit juices, milkshakes, white milk, & chocolate & strawberry milk--even though I'm an adult--& Hot Chocolate. But I prefer "fizzy" drinks to "flat/still" drinks & always have. However I prefer the smell of coffee to the taste (I don't even buy the lattes with barely any coffee in them at Starbucks; I prefer their "glorified milkshake" Creme Blended Frappuccinos) & I don't do any kind of tea. The only time I tried iced tea, I thought it tasted exactly like what it really was: water pressed through & flavored by leaves. Gross! In more recent months, I've started trying to drink more bottled water, which I prefer over tap (Evian's my preferred brand because it tastes the least "mineral-y" to me), because I really do need to drink more water; but I also have a problem with plain/still bottled water being *too* plain since I'm so used to the flavor, fizz, & sweetness of sodas. So, in recent weeks, I've started drinking the fruit flavored fizzy/sparkling/seltzer waters at least 1 poster upthread referred to. That way I figure I'm still getting the (bottled) water my body should have more of, but I'm also hopefully sort of "tricking" my brain into thinking I'm still drinking my usual amount of daily sodas--albeit more fruit flavored ones than cola/root beer/Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb types--because of the flavor & the fizz in the water. I've tried Kroger store brand Mandarin Orange Seltzer Water, which was good; but my favorites, so far, have been the Sparkling Ice brand Classic Lemonade & Kiwi Strawberry, & Glacéau Fruitwater's Sparkling Strawberry Kiwi (which, so far, are all I've tried). Sparkling Ice Kiwi Strawberry is greenish, & more with the Kiwi than Strawberry; the Fruitwater is pinkish, & more with the Strawberry than Kiwi. Besides the fizzy fruit water, I'm still drinking the Evian when we have that but not the fizzy fruit stuff, & also the Coke Cherry Zero but that's not necessarily in the same daily quantities as before (which were only 3 12-ounce cans a day, so not really that much all things considered). Apologies for the novel-length response. I wanted to be thorough, for some reason.
  3. Apologies. Somehow I posted here in the midst of writing. My complete post is below.
  4. Yeah. The killer's mother in Teenage Wasteland made me about as crazy as the mother of the disturbed little girl killer in Killerz. Your kids are sociopathic killers, ladies. Maybe you should learn to deal with that & "own" it. On 1 hand, I could sort of see Nora's reticence to "order" the death penalty for a teenager. It is a tough call when dealing with someone so young--but, he also was 18, if I remember correctly, which made him a legal adult & I think Abbie also pointed that out to Nora. But on the other hand, I agree with Jack & Abbie. What he did was so heinous--especially in combination with his Juvenile record of assaulting & partially blinding another kid, & killing a cat (like the little girl in Killerz also did)--he really did deserve death, regardless of Nora's reservations. I just wish we'd heard what sentences his cohorts got. Like in Killerz, with the other little girl involved in that killing, I don't think they ever bothered to say what happened with the others involved/allegedly involved/originally thought to be involved with the crime.
  5. Bradley has been named the Host of this year's A Capitol Fourth concert, airing on PBS on July 4th from the lawn of the US Capitol in Washington, DC. He replaces the most recent Host, Tom Bergeron (from Dancing with the Stars & formerly of America's Funniest Videos), who Tweeted a few days ago he'd be unable to host this year, since he'll be at a location that hasn't yet been disclosed to him--but is likely out of the US--filming an episode of the celebrity biography/genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are?, which has aired its most recent seasons on TLC. Here's a link to the announcement of Bradley's hosting gig, along with information on the artists appearing with him on this year's show. http://wtop.com/lifestyle/2015/06/actor-bradley-whitford-to-host-capitol-fourth-concert/

  7. *Both* Rob Lowe (Sam Seaborn) & Allison Janney (CJ Cregg) were named, earlier today, as honorees in the TV genre of the 2016 "Class" of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Congratulations Rob & Allison! If anyone's interested, the full press release--including all the honorees in each entertainment genre honored on the Walk of Fame--is linked below (& Rob's & Allison's names are, in a happy coincidence, next to each other in the TV genre's honorees). http://walkoffame.com/
  8. The S5 DVD's are *finally* available for pre-order at amazon.com. They're currently at full price--$64.99--BUT they also have amazon's "low price guarantee" (I think that's the name; anyway, it's mentioned on the item page you use to place an order) on the item. So, if the price drops anytime between when you order & when your copy ships/September 1st (the release date for the set), you'll be charged the lowest price at the time, as opposed to the price at the time you placed your order, if it was greater. Here's the link to the page. If it says something about an order being placed for it on June 22 (today) at the top, please disregard that. I ordered it before I came here to post, so that's why it might say that. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZUL9LJK/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=1435014549&sr=8-12π=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=hawaii+five+o+season+5
  9. "Haters gonna hate" is actually from that beyond stupid song (which most of hers are, in my not so humble opinion) by Taylor Swift. I can't stand Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber. With Katy Perry, it depends on the song. These days, my musical tastes lean more towards what's now called "Traditional Pop" (but not as far as artists as old as Tony Bennett--more like Top 40/Soft Rock artists I grew up listening to in those genres who are now considered "too old", or whatever, for Top 40/Soft Rock stations), as opposed to the current Top 40 artists for the most part.

  11. Responding to the bolded. I admit, I may be wrong about this but I think I remember Bill actually saying as much, in a TH or voice over, in an episode from after Zoey became acclimated to the family & her new home environment. If she wants to show him any kind of affection, he'll accept it whenever it's offered since she really didn't warm up to him, in particular, for (I thought they said, at 1 point) 6 weeks or something after they either took custody of her or got her home to Houston (I forget which it was).
  12. Especially when the fully-grown, 40-year-old, wife & mother, Giuliana Rancic says it. Just saying. For heaven's sake, she's a 40-year-old woman; not a teenybopper/tween. Yes, she works in entertainment news, in Hollywood, but she needs to grow the eff up already & stop using words/half-words that are much too young for a woman her age, like "gorge" (shorthand for "gorgeous") & "amazeballs". Especially if she wants to get a legitimate journalism (which she's apparently actually got a degree in & practiced before her E! Job) job after her E! days come to an end.
  13. It's not mentioned in any of the linked articles, but the original Bun bar was made in my hometown, at a company called Wayne Candies (so was the old Reggie! bar, named for baseball star Reggie Jackson, for a time)--which was eventually sold. Then the company it was sold to was sold again &--after I don't know how many company sales--Bun bars are apparently now being made by Pearson. Here's a link to a post on a locally-based blog which mentions the Bun bar's local connection. http://indiana.typepad.com/fwob/2006/03/bun_bars_get_re.html
  14. This ep was on again last night, a couple of times in fact, during a marathon. I just have to say, I missed it during the original airing but I loved the pride, excitement, & happiness in Will's voice when he said "I break (sic) it!" after he broke the "confidence board" in his karate lesson. And I sure hope he's still taking karate; he did seem to like it--especially after the accomplishment of breaking the "confidence board"--& Jen's TH sounded like he'd be continuing it 'cause she thought it'd be good for him. Plus, I'd like to hear him when he isn't so "timid" about doing the little "martial arts yell" when he whacks a "confidence board", or when he's responding to/repeating statements by the sensei. At least from Jen's Twitter & Instagram, we've seen more of Zoey (& Will)'s ballet lessons than Will's karate lessons.
  15. Exactly. "Breaking News" normally is thought of as the *initial* notice to the viewers that some important (national or local) news event has occurred. And it shouldn't be "Breaking News" for more than, maybe, an hour or two *at the most*. After that, the same story, even with the inclusion of completely new facts/information involved with it, should be more accurately considered a "Developing Story". It's *not*/shouldn't be "Breaking News" for two full freaking days. At least not in my not so humble opinion. But I think the cable news networks--CNN in particular--use the release of new facts/information as a "loophole", if you will, to keep calling the story involved "Breaking News" for as long as possible (because that part of the story technically at least could be considered "Breaking News", since it's a new aspect of the story).
  16. I remember Jen, maybe Bill, or maybe both, saying in at least 1 of the eps when they were in India (or maybe after they came home with her) that part of Zoey's transition issues after the adoption might've had to do with the facts that she had been exposed to few, if any, men before her adoption (it sounded as if the orphanage where she lived was run mostly/completely by women) & she also hadn't been exposed to other "little people" before meeting her new family. And if they didn't say it in the show, then I read it somewhere. But I definitely remember those 2 factors being cited as (at least part of) why Zoey's transition into the family was rougher than Will's after he was adopted. xldb2004: I know you're right, & Will was probably/definitely referring to his size when he said he was big & Zoey was little (heck, he's almost taller than Jen now, as far as that goes). But I also felt you could "read" it, perhaps, as Will was saying he was a "big boy", & no longer a "baby", now that he was 5--& no longer taking afternoon naps, & getting to redecorate his room a bit from how Jen originally did it--& Zoey was still little, & something of a "baby" (compared to Will) because she was only 3 & still taking naps, & she wasn't getting to redecorate her room from the way Jen did it... Yet.
  17. Nope. I went to a combined Regional Campus for Indiana & Purdue Universities--my degree is through Purdue--in Northeast Indiana. I graduated in Spring, 1985. I don't know what they've called the major since I graduated, but when I was in the program it was definitely Radio-TV-Film, offered through the Communications Department at the local campus (& I can't remember which school--IU or PU--ran/runs the Com Department, overall, but the Radio-TV-Film degree (BA) was conferred by the main campus of Purdue in West Lafayette; our campus was kinda wonky--the different overall departments were run by 1 main school or the other, but I don't think all the degrees in each department [except maybe for the Music ones, which were pretty strictly an Indiana U thing], were conferred by the university which ran the department overseeing the major; I think each department, except Music, had some IU degrees & some PU degrees).
  18. I think I was honestly surprised when I heard Julia Roberts (& if it's not her, it REALLY sounds like her) doing the voiceovers on the fairly recent Nationwide Insurance ads. I figured she'd be 1 of those stars who'd only do commercials that air overseas. I was, to a lesser extent, also surprised when I heard Tom Selleck do commercial voiceovers too. Am I wrong, or has George Clooney also done voiceovers for ads involving US products/services (because, again, I figured he'd be among the stars who'd only do commercials for foreign products/markets if it was him on the US commercials)? I forget for which product (I think it was a car though), but I'd swear he did.
  19. Another pet peeve: When (normally) cable news networks continue to call a story (such as the Charleston, SC church massacre) "Breaking News" beyond an hour, or maybe 2, into the story. I feel like, once the story gets past a couple of hours old it should--more correctly--be referred to as a "Developing Story" (& CNN, once upon a time, actually had a screen title card reading "CNN Developing Story", but they didn't seem to use it for very long). Today's the day (or second day) after the Charleston Church Massacre & cable networks like CNN are still referring to it, on air, as "breaking news" (even though the story's been around too long to be "breaking news" now) & that just grates. Especially as I got my college degree in Radio-TV-Film, though I don't work in the field/industry.
  20. I mean this in a *nice* way: With her usual hairstyle (the 1 with the bangs over the forehead & the sort of inwardly curled at the sides hair), Zoey kind of reminds me of a younger version of the children's show character Dora the Explorer (although I know Dora's of Latina heritage & not Asian-Indian, like Zoey), & I think it's cute. Does anybody else see "Dora" when you look at Zoey?
  21. I know. I mean, unless it's from a group of drugs--like sulfa drugs, or something--where you already know you're allergic to anything in that group, how are you supposed to know if you're allergic to it before you've taken it at least once (that's how I always end up finding out I can't take a drug, anyway)?
  22. Starting this Monday (June 22), WGNAmerica will be airing L&O (the Mothership) from 9AM-10AM Eastern/8AM-9AM Central, on Mondays-Thursdays. Walker Texas Ranger will air on Fridays in the 9AM-1PM Eastern 4-hour block where WGNAmerica has recently been running eps of the Mothership (WTR will also air from 10AM-1PM Eastern, Mondays-Thursdays). Grace and Frankie isn't a limited series on Netflix. It's been renewed for a second season, but I'm not sure that's going to be available on Netflix until sometime in 2016.
  23. Maybe he simply learned the word--maybe that's what he heard his friends call their male parent--& decided to use it so he wouldn't be "left out" or possibly made to feel more different than he already is. Or, maybe he even picked "Daddy" up from Zoey, somehow, since "Baba" isn't very likely to be the Indian language word for "Daddy" (though Zoey also likely picked up "Baba" from Will & the family when she joined them). I miss it too, though. I know he's been saying "Daddy" at least since the ep where the kids went to their first day of preschool. Remember when Jen & Bill were asking the kids, while they were eating lunch or something, how they liked the first week of school? Zoey sounded like she liked it, then Will said something about he missed Daddy (or "you & Daddy"), or he wanted Daddy/both of them to go with him, while answering Jen; & Jen then said stuff to him that ended with her & Daddy (but I think she might've said "Baba") were always going to be waiting for him to come home from school & they were always gonna be his friends, etc., &--basically--he didn't have to worry about whatever it was that had him worried about having to go to school/not liking school yet. At some point, I think Jen (& maybe Bill) did a "Talking Head" where they said something about Will's problems with getting used to school maybe had to do with it somehow reminding him of when he lived at the Foster Home, & wherever else, before Bill & Jen adopted him & brought him to the States (because it was a similar "setting"--a building full of kids & adults who spent the day doing stuff with the kids). He somehow was maybe having a touch of misplaced "abandonment" issues. Sorry for the tangent! I just wanted to explain how far back I remembered hearing him say "Daddy" (though he could've said it a bit earlier too). On another note, I think he's/he & Zoey are at least still calling Judy "Nainai" (or however you spell it--I don't know how to speak or write Chinese/Will's native dialect of Chinese, so I apologize to anyone who does if I screwed it up; I spelled it like it sounds when they say it). I think they were also calling Jen's Dad "Grandbaba" (at least Jen used that to refer to him in the show before) & they may still be doing that too.
  24. Usually, or so I've heard, the behind the scenes crew (camera people, etc.) on cooking shows will eat the leftover "demo" food after taping is over. I suupose that's only stuff that hasn't been bitten out of though--or else they'll remove a certain amount past where the tasting bite was removed & eat the rest anyway. I think I've also heard it can get sent (I guess if it's been made in large enough quantities) to, like, homeless & other shelters.
  25. Bill said somewhere, I think on his Twitter when he & Jen were Live Tweeting during the episode (but it may have actually been in 1 of his "Talking Head" type comments in the ep), that Will's outgrown afternoon naps now (though Zoey still takes them), so now he & Will get in a little extra "bonding" time in Will's old nap time. I think that's cool, for some reason.
