  1. It wasn't mentioned in his credits, but I'm pretty sure I remember Rick Ducommun was also on Star Search, Ed McMahon's original version, "back in the day". And I think he was a Champion, but--given that he was called a "comedic actor" in the linked obit--I can't remember if he was a Male Actor Champion or a Comedy Champion.
  2. It's spelled Chick-Fil-A (everybody else had the spelling, but not the punctuation in the name). I like the "original" fried sandwich, with *no* pickles; the soups (besides Chicken Noodle, they've had Chicken Tortilla in the colder weather months the last couple of years or so); the fruit cups; the milkshakes; the Ice Dream (their version of soft serve ice cream); & the Frosted Lemonade (Lemonade mixed with Ice Dream), which was a recent featured drink. I actually also like their waffle fries, although they honestly don't travel well--they get cold (colder than regular cut fries) by the time you get the food home if you do takeout & don't live really close by. I've also tried their chicken biscuit, hash brown "coins" & their Chicken Minis (chicken nuggets sandwiched in small, honey buttered rolls) during breakfast hours & liked those. I think they have good food & relatively fast service, despite long lines that might be at your location. They also seem to have friendly servers. Admittedly, I wasn't happy with the kerfuffle they got into awhile back involving the gay community--I think they stated they wouldn't hire openly gay people. But I respect their right to their opinion, & that they choose to close all stores in the chain on Sundays because of the founding family's religious, Christian beliefs.
  3. As far as I know, they haven't changed the "rule" about how to write US dollar amounts. When I learned how to do that in school, I was told--along with all my classmates--the $ goes before the numerical amount. But, lately, I've also been seeing people write the numerical amount, then the $. Because of the way we say dollar amounts ("100 dollars"), I suppose I could see where some people would think the $ goes after the numerical amount, but it doesn't as far as I know, & never has. As for the "would've/would have/would of" thing (& this answer is for Bastet too), I sort of meant people write "would (could, should) of" for both "would (could, should) have" & the contraction "'ve" form as well, based on the way they talk. But I suppose it's primarily a problem with the contraction form, as opposed to the 2 word, "would/could/should have", form.
  4. I love it too! Same-sex couples are among the population, even if some people aren't happy about it; they should be represented in commercials--& print ads--too (along with the disabled & any other group which represents something other than the straight WASP's you normally see in commercials or print ads).
  5. The A.V. Club talks to Bradley Whitford about Happyish, The West Wing & his high heels on Transparent... & most of his other roles. http://www.avclub.com/article/bradley-whitford-happyish-west-wing-and-his-high-h-220658
  6. And here's the link to the article DollEyes was referring to: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/15/hawaii-five-o-offers-job-chris-pratt
  7. I suppose the show would've had to be around longer for this to happen, but I think I'd have liked to have seen them do a follow up/sequel story to the episode Killerz (where the psychologically-disturbed little girl killed the little boy, stuffed the battery in his mouth, & yanked his pants down to make it seem an adult predator killed him), in the same way they did the follow up story on the (ex) comedy club owner/restaurant owner who killed 2 of his wives/had them killed instead of divorcing them when he wanted to move on to the next relationship. In the case of the little girl killer, I've always kinda wondered which psychologist's/lawyer's prediction for the little girl's future would've turned out to be accurate--Skoda's & McCoy's, who were advocating immediate, likely permanent, commitment to a Psych Hospital, which they felt she needed to be kept from killing again; or Olivet's & the defense attorney's, who were advocating for outpatient/drug therapy, which they felt would be sufficient enough to keep her from killing again. In the original story, the Judge sided with the Defense & Olivet, & ordered the (ineffectual, in my opinion) Mom--who seemed only concerned with her "best friend"/her daughter, the little girl killer, not being taken away from her--to finally get her kid professional treatment & keep a standing, monthly, appointment with the Judge regarding the kid's progress, & the Judge returned the kid to her Mom's custody. And that's where it ended, except for the kid giving another boy, who was outside the courtroom when everyone left, a creepy (I thought) look. I wanna know if the little girl would've kept killing, as Skoda & McCoy expected, or if the outpatient treatment advocated by Olivet & the Defense would've truly kept her from killing again.
  8. Billionaire Investor, Casino/Studio Mogul, Real Estate Titan Kirk Kerkorian (Former Owner of Both MGM Studios *&* The Original & Current MGM Grand Hotels in Las Vegas), Dead at Age 98. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/06/16/kirk-kerkorian-dead-las-vegas-chrysler/28804065/
  9. No problem. Seriously. Back when I joined the previous site, my favorite current TV show was The West Wing (& Manilow's been my favorite male, & overall, singer since I was 12... Seriously... So, for a very long time; I've met him & he's a very nice man--& you DON'T wanna know how many times I've seen him in concert, trust me), & my most favorite TWW characters were Sam & Josh. The BW is for Bradley Whitford (Josh, TWW); Manilowe is a combination of "Manilow" & "Lowe" (for Rob Lowe, who played Sam on TWW for the first 4 seasons). And, since I'm here... & to get this thread back on topic... I remembered my other pet peeve I wanted to post earlier: It drives me *nuts* when people write "awe" when they really mean "aww", as in (what *should* be) "Aww... Isn't that cute?" I've noticed a lot of my pet peeves either have to do with spelling or grammar/English language-related stuff. I wonder if that's related to the fact English & Spelling were 2 of my favorite/best subjects in school?
  10. I write like I talk. I make no apologies for it either (smile). The singer is Barry Manilow (I'd have honestly thought most, especially ex-TWOPers, who might sort of know me, might have figured that out by my screenname--I couldn't think of anything else within their screenname rules when I joined TWOP, so I combined the names/initials of 3 favorite celebs at the time). And I make no apologies for liking Manilow (or the other 2 celebs in my screenname) either (smile again). And I'm mad at myself right now. I thought of another pet peeve & came here to post it--then I forgot what it was by the time I got here, after grabbing my phone to post from. If/when I remember it, I'll post it.
  11. In the 2-part Starsky & Hutch episode where Hutch gets the Plague, in 1 episode the hospital where all the infected patients are taken is called "Memorial Hospital" & in the other episode it's called "Lincoln Hospital", without an explanation. Yes, it is the same hospital in both episodes (I've seen them enough to know that); they just somehow managed to call the same hospital by 2 different names without catching, & fixing, it.
  12. In the event you haven't yet seen the end of last season (S5), or been reading about it (here or elsewhere), the "cliffhanger" (which I didn't think actually was 1, to be honest) about Rachel's baby eventually *does/did* go somewhere, beyond "Oops! Sorry Danny, I was wrong; it's not your baby after all, it's Stan's.". That happens in the S5 Finale & is supposed to continue into the upcoming S6.
  13. The S5 DVDs will be released on SEPTEMBER 1st. As usual, it's a 6-Disc Set. The box art (which includes Grover, but not Jerry, in addition to "the Core 4") & information on the included "Extras" can be found at the link below: http://tvshowsondvd.com/n/21205 Please note: As with last year's S4 set, at this time only a DVD format release appears to be planned (sorry for all you Blu-Ray owners).
  14. OK I'm back with some more Pet Peeves: 1. When people say "Warshington" vs. the correct "Washington" (or "warsh" vs. "wash"). 2. People/supposedly professional writers who use "women/gentlemen" (the plural forms) vs. the correct, singular, "woman/gentleman". 3. People who write 100$ vs. the correct $100 (or whatever denomination). 4. People who say/write, for example, "use to" vs. the correct "used to" (&/or who drop the D at the end of other words needing it & think the word is in past tense without the D). 5. People who use would/could/should of vs. the correct would/could/should have (or the equally correct contraction forms of those words)--I know the second word sounds like "of" most of the time, but it really isn't that word. 6. People who don't know when to use "affect" &/or "effect" properly. 7. People who write that they "love being *apart* of something" (which would mean they love being *separate* from it) when they really mean they "love being *a part* of something" (involved in/with it). 8. Restaurants--usually Mexican--which want you to pay for dip/queso/some salsas, above & beyond any complimentary chips & salsa from the restaurant (which is OK), *then* expect you to pay *separately* for chips to go with the paid for dip/queso/some salsas & won't just *give* the chips to you like other restaurants do when you pay for dip/queso/some salsas (at least 3 local Mexican restaurants are doing this "pay for chips" thing--they all have different names, but I think they have the same owner since they all have this policy--& the idea of having to pay separately for chips to dip, when other restaurants provide them with paid for dip/queso/some salsas, makes me not wanna patronize these 3 restaurants). 9. This has to do with a fandom of mine. My favorite male singer is about to finish what's supposed to be his last major tour (at least in the US--it remains to be seen if he'll take the tour to the UK, where his next largest fanbase is). Right now on my Twitter feed (yes, I'm into social media), after each show, I'm seeing Retweets from fairly young people who've gone to the shows & said they loved them, then said something about they feel they have to pretend to be older than they are to "justify" having gone to this singer's show instead of, say, going to see Taylor Swift (who was actually performing in a venue next to where my singer's show was on Friday night), One Direction, etc. I don't feel these people have to "justify" their musical choices to anyone--I never have--& I wish they'd just "own" their choice, though I also know it's never really been that "hip" to like this singer, & his audience does skew older, because I've liked him since I was 12 (which essentially means throughout his career).
  15. This week (tonight-Friday night... 5 nights), CBS is running H50 repeats in the late night time slot vacated by David Letterman in May (& waiting for the Stephen Colbert incarnation of The Late Show to start airing in September). That's after your late local CBS news, at approximately 11:35PM-12:35AM, or as late as 11:37PM-12:37AM (the end time's the *following* day, if you're setting a recorder timer for it) Eastern Time/10:35 (10:37) PM-11:35 (11:37) PM Central Time, give or take a couple of minutes. If you're staying up to watch, or recording it, please check your local listings to be sure of the correct time (& possibly channel) in your area; especially since late night programming can sometimes be time/channel-shifted for syndicated &/or paid programming (which apparently makes more money for local stations than network programming does). Also check your local listings for the correct local time & channel if you live in the Mountain Time Zone on westward to Alaska, Hawaii, & in other offshore US Territories & Possessions which air CBS programming. Tonight's episode is Kanalu Hope Loa (The Last Break), Episode 503. That's the 1 about the gang of young, beautiful surfer girls who rob tourists on the local sightseeing trolley, apparently because they enjoy surfing so much they'd rather do that all day, every day, than do pesky things like further their educations (if they weren't High School/College graduates) or maintain gainful employment, & they need *some* way to finance their lives & surfing "habit". I think CBS.com said tomorrow night's repeat is Ka Noʻeau (The Painter), also from S5 (Episode 504). I'm not certain if CBS will continue airing early S5 eps the rest of the week or if they'll mix things up Wednesday-Friday nights. At the time I checked, the schedule on CBS.com which includes late night programming only went through Tuesday night.
  16. In her video for the Food Festival competition, did Amelia actually say *she* was a "culinary wanderlust"? That's what I swear I heard, during the repeat earlier tonight. But I'm wondering if I misheard or she misspoke because I don't think it's possible for a person to *be* a wanderlust. To *have* it, yes; to *be* it, no.
  17. The Hollywood Reporter: "Hawaii Five-0" Actor Scott Caan on Writing His New Play "The Trouble We Come From" http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hawaii-five-o-actor-scott-801620
  18. I thought it was the guest Judge, the guy from TVGuide, I think, who didn't understand what "Cheat Day" was when it came to food. For some reason, I couldn't believe he didn't know "Cheat Day" means, like, a day each week when you (normally) get to eat anything you want/something specific you want but can't have, instead of following whatever (weight-loss, not medical condition-related) diet plan you're currently on.
  19. Don't worry about it; it's an honest mistake. I did the same thing, like, last week with a Bo Diddley obit I saw, while reading something else, on The New York Times's site. It read as current but was actually a few years old (I think).
  20. WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes Dies at 69. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/dusty-rhodes-dead-wwe-american-dream-wrestler-1201517501/

  22. Per TVLine.com, the 6th Season premiere date is Friday, September 25th; still in the 9:00PM Eastern/8:00PM Central timeslot. http://tvline.com/2015/06/09/cbs-premiere-dates-fall-2015-supergirl/
  23. According to a story posted to the E! Entertainment Television channel's website, Tony says he'd like to Judge next season, *if* they ask him to. But he also says he's looking forward to seeing which celeb they'll pair him with next season, & is apparently presuming he'll still be dancing (as opposed to Judging). http://m.eonline.com/news/664572/is-dancing-with-the-stars-getting-a-new-judge-next-season?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-top_stories&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=twitterfeed_celebrities_top_stories
  24. And on another note... Former Charles Manson (& Los Angeles) Prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi, Died June 6th at Age 80 http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Vincent-Bugliosi-Dies-at-80-306583811.html
  25. Yep, it's Amy Roloff. I just saw a new Tweet about her & her estranged husband & was coming to correct it; but you guys had the right name, so thanks (by the way, the Tweet--from E! Entertainment Television or somewhere similar--said Amy & Matt officially filed for divorce this past week).
