  1. I've seen the commercial 2-3 times, maybe a little more, in the last couple of hours or so. I definitely agree what sounds like "tough shit" is Top Chef. I didn't hear the "suck ass"/"soccer" line yet, so I can't verify that. At the end, they also sing what's supposed to be part of Staying Alive. I'm positive about that since they use the music (but not the original, of course) in the ad.
  2. Lord John Marbury (actually actor Roger Rees, who played him so memorably) is dead. https://twitter.com/hellernyt/status/619721059743498240 No formal/official obit available as yet. For old times' sake... "GERALD!"
  3. Here's a Tweet about it. No official/formal obit linked yet though. I loved him in his recurring role as Lord John Marbury, the eventual British Ambassador to the US, in The West Wing. https://twitter.com/hellernyt/status/619721059743498240

    The Judges

I'm guessing either they don't know about it or they don't think it's relevant, somehow.

    The Judges

Here's a more complete & detailed--& interesting, in my opinion (it fills in interesting gaps in the other story)--article on the Zakarian/Trump thing than The Hollywood Reporter wrote. This is from the On Politics blog in USAToday/on their website. http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2015/07/09/second-top-chef-chops-trump/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&dlvrit=206567

  8. In May, it was reported by various media outlets Mr. Sharif's son told a Spanish-language publication his father had been dealing with Alzheimer's Disease for about 3 years. The report was confirmed by Mr. Sharif's agent. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-32881222
  9. The current Payless Shoes (Payless Shoe Source) ad, where the lady's singing a rhyming song about how well she apparently did at a current sale, then gets stymied 'cause she doesn't know anything that rhymes with "five dollars", bugs the crap outta me. And it's airing a lot during the stuff I'm normally watching. Thankfully it's for a sale, so it hopefully won't be airing long.
  10. http://www.tvguide.com/news/hawaii-five-0-season-6-spoilers-catherine-mcgarrett/ From the article linked above, which is from TVGuide's MegaBuzz: They still aren't committing to how long Catherine (Michelle Borth) will be sticking around this season. Lenkov says the first few episodes include a McGarrett/Catherine arc which will answer this. He also says, by Episode 3 (603) there will be a surprise turn in their relationship--Lenkov isn't saying if it's good or bad. A new character is being introduced who may be a new love interest for Chin (note I said Chin & *not* Steve *or* Danny). DDK apparently told TVGuide last season he wanted a more romantic storyline for Chin & more about his personal life in the story. It looks like he might be getting his wish.

  12. The thing is, respectfully, Radar Online is a *gossip* site. The stuff they post, or at least the way they post it, isn't necessarily the truth. Or at least it's not the entire truth; it's something of the truth, with the "spin" they want to put on it to get people to click the link & read the story. The more credible news/info sites are still stating nothing more than he's cooperating fully with investigators & HAS NOT been, in any way, shape, or form, detained or arrested as a result of the investigation. And they're standing by yesterday's statement that Subway & Jared suspending their relationship is a "mutual agreement" decision, as a result of the ongoing investigation. So perhaps until more sites/more credible sites are reporting what Radar Online claims, we should take their report with a grain of salt? And I'm in a position to hear a reasonably large amount about this. Even though I'm not in the Indianapolis area, I am in Northeast Indiana & it's still as big a story on our local newscasts as if my family lived in the Indianapolis area. And no, I'm not questioning the veracity of the Radar Online report because I'm from Indiana & so is Jared (as an "Indiana/Hoosier Loyalty" thing). Other than I hope things work out OK for him, if he hasn't done anything/I hope he gets what he deserves, if he has done something (just like with everyone else in a legal issue), the story doesn't mean that big a deal to me. I don't even eat regularly at Subway, though I've liked what I've eaten from there when I have.
  13. I remember the Burger King Dinner Baskets. At least I remember I used to get the one with Shrimp; mostly because you never usually saw shrimp at a fast food place that wasn't seafood-centric (which BK isn't, obviously). The other entree choices may have also been why I got the shrimp 1, but I've forgotten what they were & what used to come with the baskets. I've also forgotten about the popcorn at BK, sadly.
  14. Filming for S6, presumably with the usual set blessing, is scheduled to begin TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 8th. Showrunner Peter Lenkov has already arrived in Honolulu for the 1st day (week?) of production; he's posted "scenic" pics from Hawaii to his Instagram within at least the last day. I wouldn't necessarily expect Scott Caan to be on set in Honolulu tomorrow--or Thursday--though. He may not be filming there until Monday or Tuesday of next week. At least. For 1 thing, the play he (& Claire van der Boom who--of course--plays Rachel, Danny's ex & the mother of his children [which is still kinda weird to write, as opposed to just referring to their daughter, Grace, although I knew Charlie would end up being Danny's son since they had the affair & Rachel got pregnant in S1]) was doing was originally set to run in LA through Sunday, July 12th (so, presumably, he'd already negotiated the time off/the 1st half week of shooting off for that), but the play ended up closing early (the last weekend in June) because the other male in the 4-person cast got a lead role in a new TV show & had to report for production of that before the play's original closing date. For another thing, I wouldn't expect Scott to be on set this Thursday, if he would've decided to report before the date negotiated due to the run of his play since the play closed early. See, this Thursday is July 9th & that's the 1st birthday of his daughter, Josie, with his partner Kacy Byxbee. Since he was still supposed to be in LA, because of the play, on that date anyway I don't expect CBS, Lenkov, or anyone else behind the scenes to be heartless enough to make him fly to Hawaii to film on the 9th & make him miss his baby girl's 1st birthday just because the play closed early through no fault of Scott's. They're all/most all parents (I know Lenkov has 4 kids); they know the importance, in most families anyway, of that 1st birthday milestone. EDITED TO ADD: The Blessing Ceremony will be broadcast on Hawaii News Now Sunrise & live streamed on the HNN website, hawaiinewsnow.com. The coverage will start at 6:30AM Hawaii Time/9:30AM Pacific Time/10:30AM Mountain Time/11:30AM Central Time/12:30PM Eastern Time. Alex, Daniel, Grace, Chi & Jorge are expected to attend, according to HNN in the linked article below. http://m.hawaiinewsnow.com/hawaiinewsnow/db/330510/content/aFM98fNC
  15. Subway & Jared, apparently by mutual consent, have agreed to suspend their relationship while the investigation involving him is ongoing (although this says he doesn't believe any action will be taken against him by law enforcement... At least if I've read it correctly). This development has been announced within the last 15-20 minutes or so, definitely within the last half-hour, before this posting was made. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/subway-suspends-relationship-jared-fogle-807206?utm_source=twitter
  16. That's my take too. Bill & Jen are both--though perhaps Jen just a touch more--well-educated, accomplished in their fields, professionals. The adults in other reality shows involving minors, particularly those that have already (or should've) come & gone, with troubled minors (in the past or currently), not so much with the "well-educated, accomplished, professionals" thing. I really don't think we have much in the way of negativity to fear about the futures of Will & Zoey Klein.
  17. You mean the "tan" ones? I remember them too. As long as they keep yellow, I'm happy. What do you think about the "designer" colored ones that aren't normally in the bags, except for some of the "pastel" ones around the holidays like Easter, but you can usually buy them in bulk/by the pound (or maybe less) in certain "specialty" types of candy stores & at the M&Ms World stores in Vegas, NYC, & wherever else?
  18. The commercial that annoys me right now is the new 1 for Bush's Baked Beans; the 1 where the guy gets sent to the store by his wife, & among the things he's supposed to get is *1 can* of Bush's Baked Beans. The only problem is, the wife--of course--doesn't specify which "flavor" she wants (they have a number of them) & instead of calling/texting her to ask (like a smart person would probably do), the dumbass husband (after extolling the virtues of some of the "flavors" right in the middle of the grocery aisle) brings home a can of *every* "flavor" available. We're not talking just a semi-reasonable 5 or 6 cans of beans here. I don't know exactly how many "flavors" they have, but I know/am reasonably sure it's enough to be annoying if someone would bring home a single can of every "flavor" available in the store if not in the brand itself. So, yeah, annoying commercial.
  19. Jared hasn't been fired by Subway. So far. Nor has he been arrested for any wrongdoing. And the investigation, from what I read, has more to do with a guy who used to run a foundation Jared started, to combat childhood obesity, being caught with child porn. He mixed work files & the porn files on a work-related computer used for Jared's foundation's business. The bad guy was busted; he subsequently attempted suicide & is apparently on life support as a result. Jared removed him from his foundation & Jared & the foundation then distanced themselves from him.

  21. Robin shouldn't really have been all that nervous--at least not about being on TV; she's on Dr. Phil's show all the time. Of course I can't find the link now (I just looked again), but sometime last week, before last night's ep aired, I read something somewhere about how Robin watches Family Feud all the time & has always wanted to play on the show (& then they were asked to do the Celeb version, so she was really happy). The McGraws were playing for Fisher House. The easiest way to describe it is that it's the equivalent of a Ronald McDonald House (or a Target House, for those who have them in their area instead) for military families. It provides low-cost housing for families of military who are undergoing hospital treatment. https://www.fisherhouse.org/ The Marshalls were playing for the Alzheimer's Disease Association. At least I think that's the correct name of it. Wings707: I thought the Marshalls won? Anyway, besides Penny & Garry, 1 of their players was Tracy (Traci? I'm not sure of the correct spelling). She's Penny's daughter & Garry's niece & she's an actress (or was 1 at 1 time). She's not his biological daughter (as far as I know, she's from Penny's first marriage), but she at least used to use the last name "Reiner", from her stepfather, & Penny's second husband, Actor-Director Rob Reiner. I know she's had roles in stuff her Mom & Uncle, maybe also her former Stepfather, have done--I remember her as 1 of the women baseball players, I think on Tom Hanks' team, in A League of Their Own (which her Mom directed)--but I'm not sure how many roles she's had in projects not done by/involving members of her family. I'm assuming the other 2 players were relatives from Garry's branch of the family, or perhaps "Scott" was Tracy's husband/partner or something. I know Tracy's Penny's only child. camom: Garry Marshall's theatre is The Falcon Theatre (he used the same name for the theatre where Bette Midler's character performed as an adult in Beaches, by the way). The website has it listed as being in Burbank. http://www.falcontheatre.com/ The most recent production there was The Trouble We Come From, a new play written by actor/playwright/multi hyphenate Scott Caan (also 2nd lead in the current version of Hawaii Five-0 & eldest son of acting legend & Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe nominee James Caan). It starred Michael Weston, Scott Caan, & actresses Claire van der Boom (best known as Scott Caan's character's ex-wife, Rachel, in Hawaii Five-0) & Teri Reeves. The play was supposed to run through July 12, but closed the last weekend in June because Mr. Weston was cast as a lead in a new TV show that had/has to start production.

  24. Yes, she's entitled to maternity leave, & I get that she lives in California & the show tapes in NYC, & she probably really couldn't fly in her last trimester (if not before), but I wish she'd either go back to the show or they'd say she's not coming back already. I like the show, & the hosts as they are, but for some reason I'm getting a bit put off by the fact everyone else can be on the set to do the new shows but all Marcela has to do is a brief phone call towards the end of the show/some eps. Sorry to be a grump. By the way, Julie Chen's, like, year-long maternity leave from CBS Morning News after she had her baby (after which I think she actually went straight to doing The Talk in LA, instead of back to the news in NYC), combined with the just barely 3-month leave of a colleague who was pregnant on the news at the same time as Julie Chen was, has made me really sensitive as to how long pregnant TV hosts' maternity leaves are (I think the Family Medical Leave Act, which most if not all employers use, allows for 12 weeks, aka 3 months).
