  1. You're not the only one who misses Trophy Wife. Among other things, I miss it for Bradley Whitford & Albert Tsai & his character Bert (at least I can watch Albert on ABC's Dr. Ken until it, with my luck, gets canceled at the end of this season).
  2. Rob will be 52 on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). Just saying.
  3. From Billboard: Friends Pay Tribute to Glenn Frey http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/magazine-feature/6859107/glenn-frey-friends-tribute-exclusive?utm_source=twitter
  4. Ainsley slowly disappearing from existence may have been as much as, or more, because that part was only a recurring role & Emily Procter took the regular, each episode, role of CSI Calleigh Duquesne in CSI: Miami, which started its run during The West Wing's run on NBC, as it was because of your feeling Sorkin got bored with the Ainsley character. And Mandy disappeared from existence by mutual agreement between the actress, Moira Kelly, & the showrunners when the actress left the show & the character was written out, without explanation, at the end of S1. Most people who watched the show then felt the Mandy Hampton character didn't work & wasn't a good fit with the others. Apparently the actress who played her & the showrunners agreed as well. So, again, I don't really think she "disappeared from existence" because Sorkin was bored with her. And I also disagree on this regarding the Mallory character. Like Ainsley, Mallory was meant to be a recurring character. And her not being around a lot may have also been because of other roles Allison Smith, the actress who played her, took on outside of Mallory. Sorkin may not have always written well for his women characters, but I don't think it was because he became bored with them.
  5. TLC ran a 4-hour show marathon this morning & this was 1 of the eps included. I missed it when it was on originally, so I'm glad I saw it today. I had to laugh when Bill was making his presentation at the dog fashion show & Will burst out, "Hi Daddy!", like he did in the episode where Jen, Bill & the kids went to lobby in Congress for that children's health-related legislation & Will said "Hi Mommy!" (or maybe just "Mommy") when Jen was making her presentation on behalf of the legislation. I know, in reality, it was rude of Will to burst out like that but he's cute, & proud of his parents, so I'd have forgiven him, on both counts, if I'd been there.
  6. Replying to 1 of my previous posts to state that, if you have Antenna TV they started running a Barney Miller marathon at 4PM Eastern (about 20 minutes ago, as I type) & it lasts until 10PM Eastern tonight--so 6 hours/12 episodes worth. Judging by some of the ep titles listed on TitanTV's website, it appears to be the "Fish character-centric" ep marathon I predicted would happen in the above post on the day of Mr. Vigoda's passing.
  7. That series of ads wore thin for me after about the second or third ad.
  8. As Badlands said, the show is a Co-Production of the British "Pay/Cable TV" type network Sky 1--which is, apparently backed at least in part by the 21st Century Fox (formerly 20th Century Fox) Studios--& NBC here in the US. So, yes, there was a "production sharing" thing, & therefore the "mixed" British/American cast. I'd argue that Rob Lowe (at least given his headline-making legal issues, in the late 1980's [the "sex tape" scandal] & earlier in the 2000's [the lawsuits going back & forth involving Rob & his wife & the former nannies to his now college-age sons & other household staff], but also because of his "Brat Pack", & other, films & his 4-year, Emmy-nominated run in The West Wing which was also popular in at least the UK), if not also Megan Mullally (a multiple Emmy winner for Will & Grace) & Jenna Fischer (who was, by the way, born in my hometown & whose show, the US version of The Office, was popular at least here), are more than "(somewhat) well-known American actors" though. I follow Rob Lowe on Twitter. Among other things, he Tweets about the various professional projects he's working on. If I remember correctly--especially since it aired in its entirety in the UK before it aired here--he Tweeted that he went to the UK to film this either before Fox picked up The Grinder for their Fall schedule, or between the time The Grinder was picked up & started filming. At any rate, this was filmed before The Grinder. Here's the Wikipedia page for the show, which might provide some background. There is an "Episodes" section, which contains descriptions --& therefore spoilers--for the rest of the series. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/You,_Me_and_the_Apocalypse And here's an article, from Variety last year, about the various co-production deals between the Sky networks overseas & US commercial & cable networks, as a way of "upping their content game". It refers to the show as Apocalypse Slough, so they changed the title at some point. http://variety.com/2015/tv/global/reconfigured-european-pay-tv-giant-sky-ups-its-content-game-1201441712/
  9. To be fair, after Valerie slimmed down via Jenny Craig (for which she was a celebrity spokesperson at the time), she wrote a cookbook, One Dish at a Time. It's not currently in print (it was published in 2012), but can still be ordered/bought through various sources including Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/One-Dish-Time-Delicious-Italian-American/dp/1609614607/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1454163874&sr=1-1 All you really seem to need, to host a cooking show--even briefly--on Food Network, is either to be a published cookbook author or to have won the Food Network Star show. Valerie's written a cookbook. And, while she may currently be "between shows" on the TV networks which don't focus on a specific type of programming (like food), her Valerie's Home Cooking show (which was likely based on her cookbook) is still producing, & currently airing (on Saturday mornings), new episodes. In my book, that's enough "cred" as a "foodie" where Valerie's concerned. I don't really agree with the "doing it to pay the bills" argument. She's (re)married, & her current husband is gainfully employed. While Valerie may command a larger salary than her husband, given her line of work, I'd think they could live well enough on just his salary when/if necessary.
  10. Nope. She's still married (as far as I know, & according to a poster upthread). Maybe she/her family just likes Airborne, so she agreed to do the ads.
  11. Really good interview with Tim Omundson about the end of S2, the Psych Musical, & other things, from TV Line. http://tvline.com/2016/01/29/timothy-omundson-galavant-finale-psych-musical/
  12. Taryn Manning's makeup artist files for a restraining order against Taryn (but it's not granted because the request was filed in the wrong jurisdiction). They've done this before, by the way. http://www.tvguide.com/news/taryn-manning-allegedly-involved-in-makeup-artist-assault/
  13. I actually liked Lauren German on Hawaii Five-0, & I like her here too. So I don't think/agree that *all* the viewers disliked her there (which I felt you were implying). She was only on H50 in their S2, which was the 2011-2012 season, & only in Eps 202-216 (15 eps); her character was fired by the Governor in Ep 216 & not included in the last 7 eps of H50 S2 (217-223). She also wasn't in the S2 premiere ep (201) because that ep tied up most of the S1 finale cliffhangers & her character wasn't introduced until Ep 202.
  14. Thanks for the info. Online, I use Titan TV's listings. They seem pretty accurate, plus they let you see each channel's schedule for the next 3 days (by clicking on either the channel number or network icon). I just wish I'd known/thought to check WE's 3-day schedule at some point yesterday, so I could've seen at least part of today's "Binge-A-Thon".
  15. Well, The Righteous Brothers did sing (regardless of whomever wrote it), "If there's a rock and roll heaven, well you know they've got a hell of a band." And, sadly, they're really adding to it this year, it seems.
  16. Did anyone know WE was airing a Mothership "Binge-a-Thon" today (Thursday) between 10AM & 6PM Eastern? I didn't, until I looked at my TV listings online a few minutes ago & it was basically too late to get any enjoyment from it (I was able to see the entire lineup of eps listed & they all appeared to have aired in 2001, by the way). I wonder if it was just a 1-off or it'll be a regular daytime thing on Thursdays now (this is the 1st Thursday I've noticed it).
  17. According to this, http://deadline.com/2015/05/the-grammy-awards-monday-2016-1201424370/ which was posted online last May, this will probably be a temporary thing. This year the Grammys falls during a (sort of long) holiday weekend which includes President's Day & Valentine's Day. It was thought that having the Grammys closer to the end of that weekend would result in a larger audience.
  18. Kym Whitley is an actress & comedienne. She's also the star of Raising Whitley, a reality show, airing on Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network, which premiered in 2013. The show chronicles her life as she, with the help of her friends (whom she calls "The Village"), raises the little boy--who's now, like, age 3--she unexpectedly gained custody of shortly after his birth. According to the show's premise on its Wikipedia page, the boy's birth mother was a troubled young girl Ms. Whitley had mentored for over 15 years, & she left the hospital soon after the baby's birth, leaving only him & Ms. Whitley's contact information behind. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_Whitley
  19. The other week, when Candace left during the show & it turned out she had the flu, Whoopi said something about Raven being sick too. I don't know if she legitimately was (Whoopi made it sound like something was going around & had affected a bunch of people--either people connected to the show or who she knows; I think Michelle was off a bit around then too, but she may have had out of town comedy gigs) or if that was Whoopi "covering" for Raven's now fairly lengthy absence (for someone I, at least, thought was supposed to be a regular Co-Host). Or maybe Raven was legitimately sick & also had the time off coming to do Black-ish afterwards.
  20. I just discovered, & was coming to post, that. Thanks. Here's a confirmatory source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/a-dc-holiday-means-all-americans-get-three-extra-days-to-file-taxes-next-year/2015/05/22/a1711ce0-00b3-11e5-833c-a2de05b6b2a4_story.html
  21. With all due respect, I've never heard of Tax Day being late in the US because it's a leap year, so I Googled. What I found out is... April 15th, aka US Tax Day, this year is a Friday; it's also the Emancipation Day holiday in Washington, DC--which marks the day President Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Proclamation, freeing the slaves in Washington, DC (preliminary to signing the Emancipation Proclamation freeing ALL slaves). It's actually celebrated on April 16th, except when that date falls on a weekend--which it does this year, so Emancipation Day gets moved to Friday, April 15th. That's treated like it's a Federal holiday in DC, so Federal employees there have the day off. http://publicholidays.us/emancipation-day/ And April 16th is a Saturday (with April 17th being a Sunday, of course)--so, again, no work (for most people/Federal employees), because of the weekend. So, this year, the confluence of those circumstances pushes Tax Day in the US to Monday, April 18th--the first day of work (for most people/Federal employees) after the Federal Emancipation Day holiday in DC.
  22. They also mentioned the other firm Dean was temporarily with found a way to allow him to speak in court on behalf of clients/cases, as his former character, The Grinder, would. He's now a Certified Legal Intern which, at least for the purposes of the show, explains why it's OK for him to speak in court as if he belongs there on behalf of clients. I have no idea if that's a real life legal job or, if so, if it actually allows someone with that title to speak in court on behalf of clients/during cases or not. But if it's not I'm willing to go with the flow.
  23. Am I wrong, or was Zoey's hair back in her old "Dora the Explorer" type style during the swimming lesson segment, instead of her new pixie cut which she got in the ep previous to this 1 (leading to the idea they, at least sometimes, don't edit segments together chronologically from when they actually happened)? Even though they also mentioned (or I'd swear they did, anyway) the kids going back to school in this ep, another thought was maybe this whole ep was filmed before Zoey got her haircut--if I'm right about the swimming lesson part, at least--but aired out of the order in which it was filmed. But I'd swear Zoey's hair was back to being longer in this ep, despite it having been pixie cut the previous week.
  24. The TV Academy is splitting the Creative Arts Emmys (behind the scenes work, other than directing & writing, & guest acting awards, airing the weekend before the Primetime telecast) into 2 separate telecasts. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tv-academy-splits-creative-arts-859569
