  1. I think she asserted individuality with her parking lot reception with melted ice cream. That was certainly a one-of-a-kind wedding event.
  2. I predict there will ALWAYS be a mention of FF in any article that mentions any Duggar at any time for years and years to come. His behavior will live on in his sibling's lives for ever.
  3. I think if I was in prison, I would really not want my family asking for special privileges or attention. And I would not act like I was expecting different treatment. I would think that might not go down too well with the inmates that received even longer sentences. I would think the smart thing would be to keep your head down and never do anything to draw attention to yourself. Just my guess.
  4. I wonder if she will let the grandkids climb on the walls and fences.
  5. We actually had a family at school that did name all their children after cars. La Mans was one of them. I hope Tony and Mykelti pick names wisely.
  6. I just spoke to my brother today, and he told me that the assisted living home where my mother had lived (in the Central Valley in CA) was shut down again with no visitation at all. The residents cannot eat in the dining room and must have all meals in their apartments. It was really hard to explain to my mother before she died (not of Covid). She could not understand why people were wearing masks. This is so hard on the elderly and their families. He also told me that a lot of doctor's offices are closed again, too. He is on the hospital board, but he did not mention how many covid patients they have. It is not too bad where I live now, but I still am required to wear a mask to PT and anywhere else in the hospital. Even though there are not many cases here, I still think it would be prudent if I stayed home from church tomorrow. We had some cases last week. I have trouble understanding how some people can not take this seriously. If you don't care about yourself or your family, at least care about other people. What's so hard about wearing a mask for a short time?
  7. Why would you even think of saying "no"?
  8. Did her father have custody of her as a minor? It does seem she would have had an "out", but maybe the brainwashing was just too strong. For whatever reason, she is forever a Duggar now.
  9. If this is the marriage I'm thinking of (I get all these weddings confused), I thought it was a very short time between the announcement and the wedding. I had the feeling that this was an arrangement between the fathers. I don't know how much "choice" she had in the matter. But I could be confusing this with another wedding.
  10. My grandmother's house had a claw foot tub. They build a frame around it so it looked built in with no space between the wall and the tub. I bought a new-build house a couple of years ago. The builder was putting a shower and a huge soaking tub in the main bathrooms along with a wall and a door to enclose the toilet. I had them leave the tub out, enlarged the shower, and did not have them build the "toilet room". It's ok to see the toilet in the bathroom, right? The bathroom is now huge. I had a large linen closet built in the tub space, and I now have the bathroom of my dreams. It is large enough for a rose gold claw foot tub----but that will never happen. (Who thinks of these things?)
  11. Sounds familiar. You never touched my mother's washing machine, and she stacked the plates in the cabinet with a paper plate on top of each plate. You ate on the paper plate so you wouldn't need to wash the "good" plate. Folding all the laundry was expected, however.
  12. I think if he ever really gets there, it will turn into a short trip very quickly.
  13. Why does she feel that her "road trip" is anyone's business anyway? You would think that she would have learned to keep her business to herself by now. Is it her way of getting (any) attention?
  14. I have thought this for a long time. People in a secure situation do not find the need to let everyone know how "great" things are going. I do wonder if he is unwell.
  15. Did we ever hear if 1) Nurie bought a car seat for Nemo or 2) that they had Nemo checked out after the car accident? I hope they know they will need to buy a second car seat for the new baby and that the two kids can't just share one. And that the car seat have to be NEW and not from a yard sale or a donation from a church member. I can just picture BME asking for car seat donations.
  16. I just finished setting up my new computer printer. My HP was well over 15 years old, and was making some strange noises. I also don't like the high price of cartridges. So I decided to spend the money and buy a tank printer. I figure the cost of 4 sets of cartridges for the old printer will equal the new printer price. I debated between Epson and HP, but I decided on the HP 7301 because I have had such good luck with HP printers in the past. I read a lot of reviews about the Epson computers dropping internet connection while using a Mac, but my friend bought the Epson 4850 and just loves it. I know that reviews are just other people's ideas, and some people just like to complain, but I decided to stay loyal the the brand I know. I was worried about setup, but it was really easy. You have to use the HP app, but it is step by step and and very well explained. I loved pouring the bottles of ink in the ink chambers. No more cartridges. Now I have no excuse not to get busy and start scanning the boxes and boxes of vintage photos that are sitting in my office. Since so many are from the very early 1900's I needed the flatbed scanner feature. So, no more excuses! (FYI, the guy at Best Buy said they are not getting printer cartridges in very often and are very low on supply. If you have a printer that uses cartridges, you might not want to wait until you run out of ink to get more.)
  17. I remember wedding showers like you do. A small gift for the shower, and the wedding gift was something nicer. The mother of the bride did not give the shower; it was usually given by a friend of the bride's mother. Neither occasion was a "gift grab". And never "give us money for the honeymoon".
  18. I do hope they were gifted or bought a new car seat. If I remember correctly, either she or Jessa or Anna bought one from either a thrift shop or yard sale. A new car seat is a necessity.
  19. For what it's worth, in my personal experience, "convention rates" are not necessarily the "best" rates. The last time (years ago) I was at a teacher's convention, I was able to call the hotel and get a much better rate than the others were paying when they went with the convention package. I always call the hotel directly, and ask for their best rate. AAA or AARP is usually a good discount. Sometimes conventions have a good deal, but not always. It is always a good idea to check rates independently.
  20. The really sad part of this is that she is stating this as fact to people just to sell a questionable product, and to to get people to sell this product for her profit.
  21. I doubt Ben has any say in anything, especially anything regarding the kids. It appears he has been "Jessasized" and just does what he is told. He does not act like the "umbrella" or the "head of the household".
  22. Is Goldfish Swim School a chain? Is it mostly in the southern part of the country? I have never heard of it before, but I think I did recently see an ad on TV. But I don't know what area of the country the program was from. If they have already moved, there must be one in their new location.
  23. Very high. My friends are driving to Denver today/tomorrow to pack up their daughter and then drive back home. Daughter is an hourly worker and cannot find an apartment she can afford to rent on her salary. Not sure what one could rent without a job.
  24. Years ago, fireworks were illegal in the city where I lived (Stockton). One night, the fire trucks raced by my house. Some house a couple of blocks away was on fire, and the owners were storing a whole lot of illegal fireworks in the garage and attic. We were treated to a huge fireworks show while the fire department was trying to keep the house from burning down. Rockets were shooting through the roof. It was spectacular. Unfortunately that same city made fire works legal a few years later. EVERY NIGHT starting in mid June, someone was setting off fireworks. Add in the people that added a few guns shots just for fun, and it was terrible. I'm so glad I have moved. My new area does not tolerate fireworks except on the 4th, and the laws are actually enforced. I love the peace and quiet.
