Chloe Sullivan: Let's Be Real, She was the Real Lois Lane!
DigitalCount replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Smallville [V]
That was impressive. I've seen similar sentiments and wondered how to answer, as it's as if we were watching different shows. I'll never understand how apparently, carrying out a plan because someone else can't is considered sabotaging it. Like, she should have let Davis transform and get away while she had the Black K, so everyone could blame her for standing around doing nothing while Doomsday killed everybody? Lol please. If people are more okay with giving Chloe allowances, it's because Chloe constantly got crapped on, constantly was marginalized, constantly got forced into an underdog position, and her two romantic rivals disrespected Clark on a weekly basis. Why anyone would want him saddled with the Pink or Nois is beyond me. -
I think he was unfrozen though, they indicated that he was in the glacier for most of the time he'd been alive. I'm shipping Tyler and Shelby because why not? I shipped them somewhat since episode 1, but it at least looks like they're going somewhere with it. On the other hand, Ranger romance tends to be pretty front-loaded, so who knows. I do like the fact that "random shovel lying around" seems to be the melee weapon of choice for everyone though.

S05.E24: I'm A Good Girl, I Am
DigitalCount replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
Oh man, the surprise witness thing. Don't these people have lawyers who work for them? I watched this on the website page for ABC, and the actual description had the surprise witness part. DigitalCountess and I had a good long laugh over that. Of course, given that it's apparently common knowledge that Ali didn't get kidnapped, maybe the lawyer lady just gave up at that point. I know I might if I was living in this freaking town. So was A in the courtroom? That bullseye text was incredibly timely, and one would think they had their bags scanned before entering. So although Andrew and Charles mean the same thing, I'm not ready to contemplate the main bad guy being this Johnny-come-lately with boundary issues. How unsatisfying would that be? Also, what the heck is his problem? I remember thinking he was a bit off when he demanded a snack from Spencer that one time, but that was far from being as ridiculous as this. All the archery mentions made me ill. Secret family members are always stupid after the first one. -
Poorly, in a word. I didn't see the special edition, but the normal one has: 1) the main bad guy dying long before the team-up in the quarry, which is purely fighting grunts 2) the off screen disappearance of a general with no fanfare 3) the unexplained resurrection of Robo Knight 4) barely any lines for the returning Rangers 5) a peck on the cheek from Gia to Jake, nothing further 6) Troy lets go of his weapon after huffing and shouting about letting go of a weapon

I hope the coming episode has some stuff about how Kendall and Shelby relate to one another too. They did a good job making that a thing early on, so hopefully that gets developed in Shelby's ep. For the record, the wrong assumptions line made me think Riley is gay too, but it--or he, now that I consider it--could go either or both ways. I did see slash with Jayden and Antonio, and even more with Gia and Emma, but this was more subtle than either of those. That's probably true of the show as a whole though.

S05.E01: The Wars To Come: Speculation Thread
DigitalCount replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Game Of Thrones
Death is hardly a barrier for murder, it didn't stop those watchmen up North from giving it a good try. I tend to think that the choking part is significant for this reason. Also, it's AFFCersei. If ever someone deserved a good choking even if the laws of nature should forbid it, it's her. -
S05.E01: The Wars To Come: Speculation Thread
DigitalCount replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Game Of Thrones
She might be able to explain it to someone else, though. I hope they leave it in Valyrian, because as far as my theory goes, it's crucial for the misdirection. From a practical standpoint I can't imagine even Cersei being stubborn enough to assume that Maggy's talking about her own brother if she says "younger brother" while talking about the children. -
Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
DigitalCount replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
That reason is probably "because he looks scarily like Harry Potter." -
Difficult to say, they're never as clear as they should be with what happens to people's bodies after death on this show. Even when they're annihilated, coming back seems to grant a new body on occasion, so it's possible we could have Nina playing her. Also, welcome!
-
That's actually a good point. Also, she's around a thousand years old, and her vampire powers would make it relatively easy to get around quickly and spy on people. Plus, there's all that cash she can just compel out of people, so the only thing she'd need to get around is the invitation issue...oh wait
-
It is probably possible, though she'd probably have to be a Traveler now, rather than a vampire. I wonder if she'd be more moral now and outraged or ashamed at what she'd done throughout her life. I was also impressed with casting, and I guess it's believable that Stefan would have aged more from 10 to 17 than Damon would have over those same years, being older already. But it was still a little jarring to see. Elena for the win, am I right? I was glad she was a friend to her friends this episode. Can we have her back, please? This episode reminded me why I loved her in season 1, especially in comparison with Lana Lang.
-
Isn't he also Acting Lord of the Vale? That seems like a big deal.

I personally loved the Stefan/Caroline kiss, but my g/f who watches with me immediately said "And now he's always going to remind her of her dying mother." I can see the argument, but even so this was like surfacing after so long (five years!) underwater. Little things: - Liz taking joy in being ordinary and Caroline being extraordinary: yes. I wanted to reach into my television and hug her right then, because yes. - Elena and Jeremy spending time together just in time for Jeremy to peace out: I liked what time they had together, but it was very little. - Liz closing the book on her life with Damon's help: beautiful and fitting for the characters. - Gilberts' death just a random accident: I had always thought it was something more, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and it works especially well in this context. You can't always control the variables in life. DON'T RETCON THIS PLEASE. - Liz's dying dream: beautiful. I was wondering if Stefan was going to teach Caroline that, and I'm so glad he did.

Relationship Thread: Dysfunction Junction
DigitalCount replied to RachelKM's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
That's the funny thing. I don't really NEED romantic Damon/Bonnie. I know the two actors enjoy working together, and I had once considered it back in S2, and if I'm not mistaken they went there in the books. Even so, I think Damon/Bonnie could work as friends only, especially given how far they've had to come... ...unless this, or something like it, was the outcome. Damon/Bonnie for Damon and Bonnie? Meh, take it or leave it. Damon/Bonnie for Elena realizing that she isn't the center of the universe anymore? You'll find me on tumblr making Bamon banners and writing fanfics. -
S06.E13: The Day I Tried To Live
DigitalCount replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
I think it's safe to speculate that they're also uncannily likely to have twins. I don't think there's an indication that they have gazillions of kids in the hopes of eventually having twins. Do Luke/Liv/Jo/Kai have any single siblings? But yeah, outsiders would need to be brought in to replenish their "resources." Maybe we should discuss this in the World thread? -
S05.E19: Out, Damned Spot
DigitalCount replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
I'm kind of over the whole "Hanna the Genius" thing. I just don't buy it, it's not enjoyable to watch, and it's one of the least realistic plots of this season, which is saying a bit. I'm almost glad that Tom is a jerk, because it thwarts Hanna with her fake! intelligence! while my heart aches for Spencer. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I simply could. not. with all these people saying "the church" instead of "church." Maybe it's a regional thing, but I live in PA and it would be the weirdest thing to have people saying "I stopped at the church" or "the ladies from the church." And they said it multiple times, with different characters saying it. I don't know if it's come up before, but it was jarring as heck. To put it in perspective for those of you who aren't churchgoers, consider someone talking about how they're finishing their last year of "the college" and how their favorite food is "the pizza." Didn't think of how Spencer and Aria are basically palling around with the male versions of each other, but that's funny. I did let out a sparia-squee with the phone call between the two, that was sweet. -
S05.E18: Oh, What Hard Luck Stories They All Hand Me
DigitalCount replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
What this said to me is that A is probably piggybacking off of Mona's existing network. Since the tape was removed in Mona's room, A wouldn't necessarily know that it was gone because Mona wouldn't have bugged herself. She might have set up an alarm of some sort to tell if anyone had gone inside, but she's probably too smart to have an actual camera feed inside her own room. -
A mentor accidentally committing genocide is nothing new though. Dr. K did exactly that. Further, his actions were to defend himself. It's worth noting that in American legal principles, one could probably exonerate Keeper through the felony murder rule, given that Sledge's actions probably constituted a felony. I'm a fan of the opening, and since I have zero willpower I'm already shipping Tyler and Shelby. I love the characters, how they play off of one another, everything. One thing, though: given that the dinosaurs were obviously sentient, why didn't they gain enough power from the Energems to survive the meteors?

Every single one of these chuckleheads has collaborated with Klaus at one point or another, so absolutely no one has any right to give Damon flak for his decision. Actually, scratch that. Everyone except the witches from a coven that sustains itself by repeated human sacrifice. I think he's in the clear. So maybe I misread this, but did anyone else think that maybe Kai hadn't gotten quite all the magic, and Liz was in transition? I thought that her a) smelling the coffee from so far away and b) seeing Caroline's bloody face was her turning very very slowly. I didn't see her dream as a vision of a possible future, but a weird fever-dream memory of the past, when she first saw bloodstained Caroline in that crypt back in Mason-days (when they kept her there long enough to de-verv her, then Caroline had that tear-jerking compulsion of her that I assumed to be in the process of unraveling). Maybe I'm way off, but perhaps she did die from that heart attack.

Well, to be honest, someone has to. This isn't a small issue, because I was thinking about it last night and wondering how on earth they could make it work without her. I mean, if they didn't want to pay Michelle Fairley for a largely voiceless part couldn't they have just hooded her? She doesn't even look like Cat at this point, and I was looking forward to making Schroedinger jokes. But it's a bit odd with what she sets in motion to say they can just cut it. Furthermore, it's a bit galling to consider that they were okay with the mutineer story being a group of men sitting around raping and murdering, but it's super boring for Cat and the BwB to murder Freys, who had it coming? Exactly what are you saying about your show when you make that statement?

The Winds Of Winter: Book 6 Will Arrive...Someday
DigitalCount replied to GreyBunny's topic in A Song Of Ice And Fire
There's also a perspective issue here. Tywin Lannister wasn't a POV character in the books. However, he was very much the main villain on the show, or at least a representative of the evil empire, complete with villain theme song, pet monster, and fan adoration. Killing him was a bigger deal than, say, killing Oberyn, but neither had a POV. -
Season Eight: Doomsday Cometh - Failsday Stayeth.
DigitalCount replied to BkWurm1's topic in Smallville [V]
In my head, poor Clark is still in that hole under the rubble. "How did you survive?" "I don't know" somehow still has the power to tick me off something fierce. -
Season Eight: Doomsday Cometh - Failsday Stayeth.
DigitalCount replied to BkWurm1's topic in Smallville [V]
One of the biggest problems I had this season in particular was how fast and loose they played with terminology and consistency. Things like calling Davis a human or a Kryptonian when he wasn't really either bugged, but more so when they affected the story. Clark lost his faith in humanity because of Davis? How did that work? I won't get into the rushed and shoddy resolution where Davis is suddenly evil, but using black kryptonite to split him had some serious boundaries that weren't respected. Both times it was used, it broke the person in question into an amoral, selfish and violent form and a moral, caring form. Neither side had any other traits that didn't get shared. Yet somehow, it split Davis into Doomsday, the powerful killing machine, and Davis, the depowered... killing machine? Not two Davises, both with powers but opposing moral viewpoints? So, Lana becomes a green lightning bug and can't be around Clark. But then it wasn't a good idea for her to fight Davis? I get that this is an actress limitation, but she really could have helped. Although it would be dumb for Clark to endanger her when he could have just sent Doomsday to the future. I never understood why that option was off the table anyway. Other than Clark's pride, of course. -
/forum To be honest, I think Paige's exit is one of the least implausible things this show has thrown at us. And considering how they cycle through side characters (man, I still remember how Garrett was a Johnny-come-lately at one point, like his sudden inclusion in hugely plot-related elements seemed jarring at the time, what a thought) I can't see that this should be considered some significant piece of evidence. That's probably my biggest peeve about this series. There are so many things that seem dictated by BTS issues, and when you're doing a mystery story with ONE SINGLE MYSTERY running through season after season, you can't have the answers decided by actors just up and getting new roles, or heavily biased Twitter surveys. Something is going to be aggressively retconned when it comes to the final reveal, but hopefully it won't be on a Dan is Gossip Girl level. <= did not watch Gossip Girl

Considering that A never went after Aria for kissing Ezra's freaking brother, I can't imagine that she has much to worry about. It's also a reason why I don't think Mike could have been A at any time; he would have jumped on that since he seemed to hate the Ezria relationship back in the day and blame the Montgomerys' breakup partially on that. I can't remember how he feels about the two of them now, but he seemed less than impressed with Ezra last episode, so that seems in line with this too.
