  1. I've watched the first three episodes so far. It is absolutely hilarious! I honestly can't remember a comedy that was so funny all the way through. My jaws hurt from laughing so hard! The one thing I will say is that IMO you should have an affinity for both Tennant and Sheen and know a bit about their friendship to truly "get" the show. I'm not sure it's for everyone, but I'm sure glad I found out about it! I wonder if Season 2 might show up on BBC America before it hits Hulu. Fingers Crossed.
  2. Yes, the next episode is the finale. Episode 1 for this season premiered on Oct. 29th. There were breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Personally, I'm glad this awful season is coming to an end.
  3. We did. 🙂 Parallel bars was definitely an incorrect response because the clue did specify women's gymnastics. The parallel bars are a men's gymnastics event. The women's event is called the uneven bars.
  4. Just because to date, there has been no Mephisto in the MCU, doesn't mean he can't be introduced here in WandaVision, which is where I think we may very well be going. I'd have to agree with you regarding the first part I bolded, but in fairness, Disney/Marvel had its hands tied because they couldn't go the true route of Wanda being a mutant because Fox still owned the rights to the X-Men franchise. I don't recall exactly what the Fox-Marvel deal was for Scarlet Witch. I remember they only had Quicksilver for one film, which is why they had to kill him off in Age of Ultron, but I don't think Marvel "owned" Scarlet Witch outright either. They may still have had some restrictions on her use and may have been hesitant to elevate her above a secondary character. Once Disney acquired Fox, they were able to begin to showcase her powers. These new Disney+ MCU series are story and character development tools for the films. We know that Wanda is going to play a huge role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which sounds as if it's going to be a wild ride. I think Marvel is setting the stage in this show for Scarlet Witch's heavy-duty reality altering stuff we can expect to see in Doctor Strange 2. JMO.
  5. That is undoubtedly the mind stone that appears on the large magician's disappearing trick box. (Photo attached here.) How it fits in or if it has anything to do with Wanda's mention of "my husband's indestructible head," (Ep. 1) I'm not sure, but it is somehow playing a part here. Wanda's powers are derived from the mind stone and Vision's (initial) creation was enabled by it. It's important to this story. I'm with @Kromm. The Infinity Stones are at play here in some manner. I also noticed the six stones around the moon in the Bewitched-styled opening credits for Episode 2; and of course there are numerous hexagons throughout. We've already seen Wanda turn back time and even though it seems to be at the direction of someone else, she's warping reality.
  6. I got the "Ted Lasso" response now, only because it's awards season and I've seen it mentioned a lot as a potential nominee. I wouldn't have gotten it correct back in November (?) when the episode was filmed. I have access to several streaming services, but AppleTV's not one of them. I'm very pleased with how well Ken's been doing.
  7. Chef Jose mentioned Spike in a tweet yesterday.
  8. There hasn't been any word on whether this particular MCU series is a one-off or if there may be subsequent seasons; however...
  9. Paul Bettany was on James Corden's show Thursday night (Friday early morning.) PB was very chatty and may have said a bit more than would please Kevin Feige. The voice belongs to Randall Park, who plays Agent Jimmy Woo in the "Ant-Man" films and is confirmed to be a character in this series. Paul Bettany was on The Jimmy Kimmel Show Friday night. (For some reason, I've been watching late-night TV this week. Not usually my thing.)
  10. Hey, with this show, death is only the beginning!
  11. It's no crazier than Randall and Beth driving from Philadelphia to New Orleans (1,224 miles.) The pandemic has prompted people to drive to places they would normally fly to remain safer from COVID-19. If Kevin gets on a flight, then he'd potentially be exposing Madison and premature newborns to COVID-19.
  12. I expected to hate this episode but I liked it quite a bit. For me, and I know this is a UO, I loved that this was the second consecutive episode that had no Saint Jack. (Only a small cameo tucking in 5 year old Randall.) Always appreciated here. So, Kevin cuts Randall off as if he's got no time to talk. He's driving from Vancouver to L.A. Wouldn't that be a great time to talk? It wouldn't surprise me if Hai still lives on the other side of the lake where his parents lived. I do wonder who was maintaining utilities, and covering insurance and property taxes on Laurel's lake house. @BoogieBurns upthread brought up the fact that the death of Laurel's brother means no maternal-side first cousins for Randall (unless Laurel's big brother fathered a child in Vietnam. Hey, maybe he's the father of the young boy Uncle Nicky blew up! I wouldn't put anything past this show.) But Randall met a bunch of cousins while visiting Nashville with William. We don't have any indication that Randall's been in touch with them at all. Malik it is!
  13. Variety ran a piece on the show as we near Thursday night's premiere. I'll definitely be tuning in as I'm always up for some more trivia, but I have serious doubts about this "Chaser Lounge" idea. I'm not sure how this comes across as anything other than nasty. I guess we'll see... ‘The Chase’ Brings the ‘Jeopardy!’ GOATs to a Whole New Trivia Table

    Mank (2020)

I enjoy and am very familiar with "Old Hollywood"--I've even visited Hearst Castle--and from all the pre-release buzz, I expected to love this film. I didn't hate it but I was disappointed and truly wonder to what target audience Fincher was trying to appeal. I've been reading a lot of the critics' Top Ten lists and "Mank" hasn't been on any of them so they've missed the mark. I never truly saw the character of Mank, I saw only Gary Oldman. Not good. The rest of the cast was excellent, especially Charles Dance, whom I've loved since the '80s, and Amanda Seyfried, who was fabulous as Marion Davies, and I normally don't care for her performances! Overall, I'd consider it a miss and I'm sad about that but when you miscast the title character, you've got a big problem.
  15. I rolled my eyes a bit at that also. I might have been a bit more accepting of Steve's complete wonder, if not for the fact that the first film has Steve based in London during WWI. London's Underground dates back as far as 1863! He would certainly have been familiar with at least the idea of major cities having underground rail systems. OTOH, @Chicago Redshirt's observation about the depth of D.C.'s Metro and the length of those escalators is not lost on me. I rode the Metro there for the first time in the early '90s, after decades of riding the NYC Subways and was quite surprised at just how long D.C.'s escalator rides were! Still, Steve should have been somewhat aware of the technology of a moving stairway.
  16. Something else that bothered me: Early on, Diana made a big deal out of trying to discover which God was behind it all. That was the reason she had Barbara research where the stone was found. I was waiting for Wonder Woman to have to fight that God to stop the madness, just as she had to fight Ares in the first WW movie, but the writers just let that plot point drop. WTH?
  17. An update on the removal of the remnants of the Calhoun statue. Demolition of Calhoun monument base continues brick-by-brick. That might change in January.
  18. Best thing you'll see on Twitter today. Allison Janney is all that and more!
  19. As I suspected, Austen being Austen. 🙄 For all we know, it may be no longer available anywhere, in which case the site doesn't need to be updated. 😄 Seriously though, he had mentioned on air (pre-Covid?) that it was available at several bars, but the bars that have local brews on tap will usually rotate them out to allow others to be sampled by their customers.
  20. I want to believe that the Armorer is still alive too. She is too good a character for her not to return at some point in the future. I think I have the possible "exemption" for Din removing his helmet. When the Armorer tasked him with taking Grogu to his kind, she said to Din, "You are as a father to him." In Episode 4, we learn that "The Way" allows Mandalorians to remove their helmets when with their nuclear family. There exists a father/son relationship between Din and Grogu that I believe would allow Grogu to see his "Dad's" face. The circumstances here are tricky and I actually wondered as the scene was playing out if Din would take Grogu off to the side for a private moment while he removed his helmet, but there wasn't really that opportunity. Luke definitely saw his face, but Din didn't turn around, so as far as we know none of those behind him saw anything but the back of his head. Anyway, regardless of what the Armorer would or wouldn't accept, I took the moment that Din removed his helmet as his full acceptance that Grogu was his son.
  21. It's definitely a big accomplishment to get one's product into a supermarket chain, but I highly doubt that Austen's beer is available in all Harris Teeter locations nationally. It's more likely a regional deal, which would still be commendable as there are 16 HTs in the Charleston tri-county area. Then again, it might just be available in the downtown location, but good luck finding out. I went to his website to see if there was a listing of locations where you can purchase Trop Hop, but there's no way to do that. In fact, the home page only has some links to local articles about the beer and there's a second page for merchandise like caps and t-shirts. He really needs to fix that. He should definitely list the bars and restaurants where it's on tap and the retail outlets where a case or a six-pack can be purchased. These episodes were filmed back in the summer, so at least 4 or 5 months ago, yet he hasn't updated his website to indicate that the beer is now available in at least some grocery stores? Yeah, that sounds like the Austen we know from Southern Charm. 🙄
  22. It was awful of George to not even just casually mention to Mary that the hotel has a very nice pool. That omission made it perfectly clear that George saw this as "his" weekend, and he continued with that attitude as they were arguing. He didn't even say a quick, "Sorry." He rubbed the salt a little deeper into the wound by saying he brought his swim trunks. Really hurtful. That said, if I'm packing a suitcase, a "just in case" bathing suit is always the first thing I throw in, buried on the bottom, but there if I need it. I'm glad we're done with fake goody-two-shoes Dale. That got old quickly as it was obviously insincere. Dale should have known that Connie's too smart not to have seen through that right away. C'mon writers, give Connie a new suitor who's worthy of her.
  23. As the mom of two (now adult) sons, I'm going to give Pringle a break. Two brothers, relatively close in age, are going to have rambunctious days. Throw in the novelty/excitement of knowing they're on camera and IMO, all bets are off. While he hasn't done anything that particularly makes him stand out as a character, he does seem to love his kids. He gets points from me there. It seemed to me that Kathryn was high in the scene at Austen's house. I loved Patricia's sunglasses.
