  1. Elise's segment popped up on my Twitter feed. I am Black (didn't see anyone who looked like me and didn't see anyone who looked like the weren't a couple of years from Medicare) and I am from Pittsburgh and I can definitely say it is total bullshit. It was set up to drive a narrative and not represent the people of the area. While there are, no doubt Trumpists like those on the panel, Pittsburgh (along with Philadelphia) has been reliably Democratic. They helped deliver the votes that got Biden a win in the state. That's why Obama and Biden have made repeated visits to the city (Including Biden last week.) Total bullshit. (Although I did laugh at the woman wearing the Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. No matter what the situation, person on the street news interviews in the city are highly likely to feature people wearing gear from one of the city's teams, for robbery, extreme weather, zoning meetings, whatever. . . )
  2. I agree. The second episode was like a video game tutorial, where the player is taught the initial rules of the game bur not what the game is ultimately about. When it comes to video games I also like how the visuals are clearly better in 2032, but they use a filter to show that it's still not quite photo-realistic. You could really see it in the scene with Pickett at the nightclub. Burton and his squad of veterans is a compelling story in its own right. This show is gorgeous. They could have used a better accent coach.
  3. I can't imagine how Iowa fans feel knowing that King for Life Kirk Ferentz isn't going anywhere an he's not going to fire the OC, his son.

I was thinking more about the contract than the trade. The Broncos signed him to a new deal after trading for him. Wilson will be the third highest paid QB this season. He got over 160 million dollars guaranteed, he is on the wrong side of thirty compared to QBs with similar contracts (Mahomes, Allen etc.) And if he is shot, he will will kill them on the cap for five more years.

There was no effin way they could beat Tom Brady and the Bucs. But they did.

Don't add Joe "When I was in Congress" Scarborough. Then you would really be in trouble.

Is Russell Wilson's new five year/245 million dollar contract going to be one of the worst signings ever? (Nor to mention all of the draft picks Denver traded to get him.)

    The NBA

Opening night! Has there ever been a team that has had a weirder off season than the Nets. They come into the season expecting big contributions from a guy who hasn't played in a year because of back and mental health issues. They have another player who missed major time because he wasn't vaccinated and who the team was apparently shopping around the league. And their best player asked for a trade and when it looked like that wasn't going to happen, he went to the owner and demanded that the head coach and GM be fired as a condition of his return. And everybody is back (including the coach and GM) like nothing ever happened.
  9. The baby is the best part.
  10. I totally agree. One of the strengths of the first seasons was the interaction between Al, Earn and Darius. In part because Brian, Donald and LaKeith have such great chemistry. I've missed that.
  11. If they do a second season, it will have to be really different. This season did a great job of exploring what it means to be a fan, what Wrexham means to the town, the dynamic of being a new owner etc. I think there's only so many ways to tell stories about the team that aren't based on what is happening on the pitch and they used a lot of them. As it was, it thought the last couple of episodes really began to drag. I did like the "Toyota caterer" though.

Brady has got to be regretting that decision to un-retire. He should have followed Gronk's lead.

Are there any female umpires in MLB? One would think that a league with Angel Hernandez and allowed an eighty year old Joe West to retire on his own terms, they could cast a wider, more diverse net for talent.

It's pretty much public knowledge that Dan Snyder rules over a franchise that mired in a long history of abusive sexual harassment. So how does he go about avoiding what could be a severe punishment from the league? Blackmail. Sources: Commanders boss Snyder claims 'dirt' on NFL owners, Goodell I don't doubt that he has the goods. John Gruden wasn't the only person getting emails.
  16. There is actually a term for the misleading press reports put out by police organizations, "copaganda". I thought this episode was really interesting because it main story actually touches on several themes that John has covered. As he mentioned, the reliability of police provided narratives. How popular culture shapes out perception of crime (The Law & Order episode). And newsrooms that are so desperate for free/sponsored content that they will air segments on "sexual healing blankets".

How many points did Ferrari cost themselves this season because of equipment DNFs, bad pit stops and bad strategy? I hope Seb maintains some kind of relationship with F1/FIA. He is a great advocate for the future of sport. Diversity, sustainability, driver safety. . .
  19. I normally don't pay much attention to play by play announcers, but Jack Collinsworth's voice truly sounds like nails on a chalkboard. How did he manage to get the the premier job of NBC's Notre Dame coverage? Oh, never mind.

  22. The entire NWSL is a dumpster fire. U.S. Soccer investigation into women's game finds systemic abuse, misconduct.
  23. I enjoyed the episode, but was really hoping for a post-credit scene where the Dora Milaje introduce themselves to Todd.
