Looking forward to DI Ray on Amazon Prime (PBS Masterpiece) starting next week. It stars Parminder Nagra, who I have liked since Bend it Like Beckham. DI Ray

I love Melissa but agree that the firefighter part went on too long. I'm still confused about how Gregory sees Janine. In this episode, his comments did not indicate a romantic view at all. How can Ava still be the Principal if she is on video leaving during an emergency and then admits going to a spa???

Loved this episode. My only quibble was that Mason did not look 13. At first, I thought he was supposed to be 7 or 8.

This episode was way too creepy for me. I prefer episodes where I don't have to FF through lots of it. I could not watch the scenes where the kid was held captive in the torture chamber. I also prefer when the whole team works together and it is not the Remy Show.

I thought that Episode 2 was good as well. Robin going in disguise to visit the incapacitated mobster - and encountering his son - was chilling.

Great catch! I love that show and I did not make the connection.

Just watched Blue, episode 3. Good episode but sad result. Cracked up at Vera standing up the big brass and not showing up for the medal ceremony.

Just watched Episode 1 in the US. I thought it was quite good. Looking forward to the rest. I read The Ink Black Heart over the holidays and could not put it down. One of the best books I have read in a long time. Can't wait to see how they film that book given all of the text messages.

I watched Episode 2 tonight and liked it - even though I immediately knew the identity of the killer. Watching Aiden running after Tony - in multiple locations - and failing to catch him - cracked me up.

Candice Renoir S5 February 27 on Acorn. Strike S4 February 6 on HBOMax.

This cracked me up. No trip to the ER for a CT... No concussion check... Instead she crawls on a high parapet to disable a bio weapon without any dizziness or other head injury signs.

I've been watching Season 2 of Astrid on Prime Video. It is just as awesome as Season One. The protagonist is an autistic savant who works in the Criminal Records division. She uses her unique talents to assist the police in solving crimes. Unusual and very well done. ETA: Season 12 of Vera premieres on January 29 on Britbox. Not sure if it is a complete drop or one episode per week.

I really enjoy Jay's glee at finding out new things about how the whole "ghost" thing works. Trying to figure out if there is a way to get Thor and his son physically closer to each other? Loved how Hetty and Alberta were so upset about Sam being distracted from focusing on them.

Late to the party. I loved the relationship between Dr. Sharon and Ted. I hope they do not break up Keeley and Roy - even though his constant "thereness" is driving her nuts. I love them together - and with Phoebe. I definitely noticed when he did not elaborate on his relationship when asked by the teacher about whether he was married. Not good. I'm of two minds about Rebecca and Sam. Yes, she is his boss (although, as a star athlete, he has a significant amount of power) and is much older...but I keep feeling a reason to cheer for them together. At the start of the show, I really liked Nate and cheered when he was promoted and given the whistle. Now - ugh - go away. We've watched him spiral downward since he was promoted (and perhaps even before). I never fail to crack up at "Trent Crimm...The Independent".

I thought this was a good episode - even though I cannot stand "locking women up" episodes of any show. I, too, knew it was the stepdad immediately. I wasn't sure whether I would like watching this show without having a member of the Original CSI in each episode. I've found that the current cast is just fine and carries the show without any help. They have toned down the Ali/Josh pining so that really helps.

Is this the first time that we have seen the Chief at odds with Regina? I liked how it was the desk Sergeant's rare book idea which broke the case. As kwnyc pointed out, the NYC police union head is often in the news. IMO, he was exactly the characterization they were going for here. Would have been nice to see how Bentley went from a blatant diss of his girlfriend at his parents' house to kissing in front of brass at the opening.

Season 3 of Luna and Sophie dropped yesterday on Prime Video. It is a German detective show (with subtitles) spotlighting two female best friends who are part of a small detective squad. Emphasis is more on the relationships between the characters and less on gory murder scenes.

I just watched the behind the scenes episode. It was highlighted on the main Acorn screen and is called "Farewell Doc Martin". Very well done. I thought that the Christmas episode was good too. I really enjoy the various characters - even though it is hard to find new things for them to do. Nice ending to the series.

I watched all of Magpie Murders over the past week. Very well done and highly recommended. The story is about a book editor who searches for the missing last chapter of her best-selling author's final book. (The book - by Anthony Horowitz of Foyle's War fame - was excellent.) It's on Prime Video and there is a section here dedicated to it.

Acorn is showing a Doc Martin behind-the-scenes as well as a Christmas special - both of which drop over the next few days.

Watched Episode 3 of Season 23 (organic flour mill) and was fairly bored. The murder occurred much later than usual and the preceding story was not interesting enough to keep my attention. The eventual murder mystery was not compelling either. For me, this one was a real clunker.

I loved it. I thought that the transitions between present day and older day were done very well and made this a superior watch for me. I had read the book years ago and forgot all of the details but for the name Robert Blakiston - so I was a bit spoiled. I loved seeing Lesley Manville and Claire Rushbrook as sisters since I just finished watching Sherwood! Having many of the same actors playing characters in present day and older day was a grand idea! Loved all of the scenes with Susan and Mr. Pund.

Season 2 of Astrid premieres on Prime Video (PBS Channel) on January 20. I've been waiting for this for ages. Fabulous show about an autistic woman who works in the police records department and helps the detectives to solve crimes. Season 1 was great.

I believe that Madame Blanc Season 2 begins next week on Acorn.

Just watched Episode 2 of Season 23 (The Debt of Lies) and thought it was pretty good. I love Fleur. She cracks me up. (For those who watch, she also recurs on Ted Lasso.)
