  1. Great episode. Particularly liked Hetty explaining how much she had learned from Alberta and Samantha.
  2. I am a huge Nicola Walker fan so I finally found a way to watch The Split. Enjoyed the other members of the Defoe family just as much as Hannah. Liked Season 1 a bit more than Season 2. I would like to see Hannah and Nathan back together. Both have been at fault during their marriage; if they can get past the hurt and anger, they still seem to want to be together. Christie annoys the heck out of me...and what is up with Tyler, who just married Zander, kissing Nina??
  3. I just signed up for AMC+ primarily to watch Happy Valley, which I have never seen. I started by watching The Split (which is not a detective/mystery show but which stars Nicola Walker, star of many British detective shows). So far, quite good. The streamer appears to have some interesting looking mysteries - many of which star British actors from some of the other shows discussed here. I will try out a few and report back. Also a bit off-topic: watching The Larkins on Acorn, which is as far from a detective/mystery as possible (not a dead body in sight). Very cheerful and nice family show starring Joanna Scanlan, who starred in my all-time favorite detective show, No Offence.
  4. Renewed for Season 2.
  5. Just watched the latest episode. It was good but this was the first time in awhile that I guessed the killer ahead of time. Loved Kenny baking!
  6. I was shocked when I saw this news. There have been a lot of departures from this show - unusual for a hit. My first thought was that they dispatched Tali to boarding school just in time.
  7. I really liked this last episode. Did not guess the killer for a change. Malcolm cracks me up.
  8. I watched a fun cop show on Amazon Prime called Cuffs. Set in Brighton. Quite good. A shame they only made 8 episodes.
  9. I find it weird when one or two of the ghosts is missing from the episode - and nobody mentions them. I gather that the plan is for all of the ghosts to be in each episode but was this originally a Covid thing or an actual artistic choice?
  10. This show sometimes gets too violent and gory for me. This episode was one of those times. I had to keep FFing through certain scenes.

    Season 04

I liked that we barely saw the perp but instead focused on the victims' families. Glad that Rina is done. I never saw the point of having Rina and Isobel and much prefer the latter.
  12. Fabulous episode! Sophie's 60 second countdown with the RIZ head was gold. When Hardison first popped up, I yelled like an idiot. So glad that Sophie decided to stay and lead the team. She has great chemistry with Harry, who I assume will still be with the team next season.
  13. Watched the first episode of Stay Close on Netflix. Did not love it although it is nice to see Cush Jumbo. Edited to add: just watched Dark Woods on Topic. German murder mystery based on a real life event - - police head's search for his missing sister. Quite good. Watched the first two episodes of Season 2 of Queens of Mystery which just dropped on Acorn. Light-hearted and fun. They replaced the lead actress but the replacement looks so much like the prior actress that it did not matter to me.
  14. I am really looking forward to another season of this show. Has there been any confirmed word of a start date?
  15. I like the George befriending Billy storyline.
  16. Happy to see Tali depart. The napalm bombs were horrifying. Felt terrible for the mother.
  17. Exactly. I started watching The Chestnut Man on Netflix last evening. It is a Danish thriller written by the creator of the original The Killing. So far, gory but good.
  18. I just finished Season 6 of Shetland. I liked almost all of it - with the exception of the cliffhanger, which does not ring true for me.
  19. It was nice to see the Agatha Raisin family again in the Christmas episode. However, I've found that the characters are acting even sillier than usual. This started with the last episode where Wilkes was completely over the top - much more so than previously. In this episode, Agatha struck me as being wackier than previously - which was annoying.
  20. Have been watching CB Strike on HBOMax. It is the filmed version of the Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) novels featuring Strike and Robin. There are 4 series with 2-4 episodes each. Enjoyed it.
  21. Of all of the storylines which I dislike right now, the Jo suddenly is in love with Linc is the worst. Completely unbelievable. At the risk of being too shallow, Jo's hair issues all season have distracted me from her competency as a doctor. Even when helping to save the actor in the playground, all I could see was the hair. I still like the show but I do not like Meredith with Nick -- nor do I like Meredith/Amelia in Minnesota. Hopefully bringing Peter Gallagher's character - and Team - to Seattle puts an end to the separate Minnesota setting. They will have to find some way to bring Nick to Seattle unless they jettison him. The Glasses kills a patient/Webber Method was a disaster. There were too many people in that OR for the real story to remain hidden. Looking forward to getting rid of Glasses. I do like Winston - but is it SOP in real life to cut open a patient for a transplant prior to the organ actually being on site? I don't mind the idea of Amelia/Kai but Kai is just too bland -- barely there.

    Season 04

By the end of the episode, how have they eliminated the threat from Vargas to kill their families?
  23. I thought this was an excellent episode - with the exception of the Tali/Sarah relationship. The turnaround in Tali over the last two episodes was too quick for me. A few episodes ago, TPTB made her look older - vaping, driving around with her boyfriend, school issues, etc.... Last episode, we heard about Tali wanting to go to equestrian boarding school, which reminded me of the Tali from the early episodes. I think that there was an abrupt change to Tali the Troubled Teen and an abrupt change back which started in the last episode. Did not ring true for me. OTOH, I thought they did a very good job showing the horror of the mall shooting, I also liked that Jess's dad was able to help out in a heroic way - and did not die - which I feared throughout. I also feared for the safety of Barnes's wife - glad that did not turn into a tragedy. Hopefully Tali goes off to boarding school and is only seen on holidays.
