  1. Hah! I'd also like some streaming service to pick up Nicola Walker's new show "Annika" in the US. First episode of Season 11 of Vera was excellent. ETA: Season 4 of Frankie Drake Mysteries just dropped on Amazon and PBS.org.
  2. Also: The Good Karma Hospital (Acorn) - not a mystery but stars Amanda Redman from New Tricks. Set in India and Sri Lanka. Quite good. Winter (Acorn) - Australian mystery The Paris Murders (Amazon - French) - there are numerous seasons, some of which are on Amazon. River (Britbox and Amazon) Astrid (Amazon - French) Baptiste (Amazon - French) Doctor Blake Mysteries (I'm not sure if this is Britbox, Acorn or Amazon - Australian) Deadwind (Netflix - Norway or Finland) Bodyguard (Netflix)
  3. Bordertown (Netflix - Finland), The Valhalla Murders (Netflix - Iceland), Bron/Broen (Topic - and soon to be Amazon - Denmark and Sweden), Luna and Sophie (Amazon - German), Agathe Koltes (Amazon - French), Van der Valk (PBS Masterpiece - Amazon - Dutch)
  4. Off the top of my head: No Offence (Acorn) is my favorite British show. Brokenwood Mysteries (Acorn) is set in New Zealand but is excellent as is Shetland (Britbox). I thought Pembrokeshire Murders (Britbox) was quite good. Unforgotten (PBS Masterpiece on Amazon) is fabulous and there are 4 seasons. Queens of Mystery (Acorn), Loch Ness (Acorn), New Tricks (esp the early seasons) (Britbox), Frankie Drake Mysteries (Amazon) and Murdoch Mysteries (Acorn) are all good. Doc Martin (Acorn) is not a mystery but is very good. I'll likely come back and update later.
  5. I started watching Astrid on Amazon Prime. It is a French police drama where the protagonist is Astrid, an autistic genius who works in Criminal Records and has a photographic memory and the ability to make connections between multiple cases. She teams up with a female police commander to solve crimes. It's interesting - not great - but different. Update: After watching almost all of Season 1, this show has grown on me. I really enjoy seeing Astrid's autistic support group - something we have not seen on tv. Looking forward to Season 2.
  6. Unable to edit my previous post. Finally finished Season 4. I think that Saga Noren now tops my list of favorite heroines. What a tremendous character and performance. I will truly miss her.
  7. On August 12, Forbrydelsen (The Killing) premieres on Topic.
  8. I really enjoyed this episode. Fake Nate was great and I liked his interactions with Sophie. Cracked up at Parker throughout. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes in the Fall. TPTB have done an excellent job with this revival despite the lack of Hardison. I hope he is more available for the remainder of the episodes. So far, Noah Wyle is not eating the show - which he often did during appearances in The Librarians.
  9. Just finished the last episode of Season 5. So bittersweet. I will miss this show and the Kim family.
  10. Those are two of my favorite shows. Waiting impatiently for the last season of Frankie Drake. Started Season 2 of Bron/Broen on Topic last night.
  11. I am enjoying this a lot. I was never a Nate Ford fan so I am not missing him. Sophie was always my favorite. The relationship between Hardison and Elliot is so key to the show that it will be interesting to see if it falters in his absence. I thought they wrote him out very well. I also like Noah Wyle's addition to the team - which was not the case with The Librarians. Will be fun to see Parker mentoring Brianna.
  12. I believe that Season 4 is going to premiere on Topic on July 29. I also liked The Tunnel but found Season 1 of Bron/Broen (which I finished last night) to be a cut above.
  13. Watching Bron/Broen (The Bridge) on Topic. There is a subscription sale so it is $2.99 for the first 3 months. I had never been able to find this series streaming in the US before. I've seen one of the remakes but always wanted to see the original.
  14. Finally able to watch Season 1 since it is now streaming on Topic in the US. (I had already seen The Tunnel so I remember many of the details from this season.) Still - thrilled to be able to see the original. Looking forward to watching all 4 seasons and then reading the comments in this thread.
  15. I've been able to borrow almost all of the books from my library as e-books to read on my Kindle.
  16. Interesting observation. Chloe on The Paris Murders always annoyed me. I thought her mannerisms were much more exaggerated than Candice's. Candice has a level of sweetness which I never saw in Chloe.
  17. Yes! Just finished Season 2. Very charming and addictive. Eager for Acorn to release additional seasons.
  18. I know that there is a separate thread for Unforgotten but for those who do not read it - Season 4 premieres in the US on PBS Masterpiece on Sunday, July 11. One of my favorite shows.
  19. I'm working my way through the Phryne Fisher books. Now reading Urn Burial. They are different from the series but enjoyable. Virtually no Jack.
  20. I started Season 5 and have been limiting myself to one episode each night because I do not want to run out too quickly. Just watched the episode where Appa and Umma go to the ritzy neighborhood to play tennis. Loved that plot. I was surprised that Umma could play tennis so well! Not too cracked over Janet inviting over a friend from work - who turned out to be a high school kid. I don't think TPTB really know what to do with Janet. Also not cracked over Shannon and Omar. The character of Shannon has always bothered me; if there is going to be action at Handy's, I'd prefer that it focus on Kimchee, Stacey and Terrence. I think that the actress is fine; I just can't stomach the character - who continues to remind me of a teenaged girl instead of a manager. I could watch endless episodes of Mr. and Mrs. Kim dealing with the various people who come into the store. Less cracked over the Janet and Jung subplots (even though I like parts of the Handy scenes).
  21. Some really good news: The Bridge (Bron/Broen) will finally be streaming again in the US. Seasons 1 -4 will be streaming on Topic. Bron/Broen is one of the original Nordic Noir shows and spawned a number of remakes (The Tunnel, for example). It starts streaming in July. The Bridge (Bron/Broen) I also read that Forbrydelsen (the original Nordic Noir and the template for The Killing) will stream on Topic starting in August.
  22. All of the Season 2 episodes have dropped. I watched the first one last night.
  23. Season 2 of Candice Renoir drops today at Acorn.
