  1. Season 2 of the Mallorca Files on Britbox on March 1. Fun, light-hearted show.
  2. I started a binge of Murdoch Mysteries a month ago and am now starting Season 8. I wish that the old thread here had not been lost in the upgrade. I'd love to see discussion of those episodes. I'm up to the part where Julia and William are finally able to marry - Dr. Grace and Crabtree are estranged - and Brackenreid has been beaten senseless by the thugs at the docks. It's been fun to watch these episodes in rapid succession; you pick up a lot that might have been missed otherwise. Also fun to see the actors from Frankie Drake Mysteries show up in a few episodes. That show also films in Canada with the same production company.
  3. I thought that Sheldon's misadventures were too much over the top. I cringed for him and had to FF. Loved George and the Pastor -- and especially the continuity with Sheldon's former college classmate running into Mary at the bookstore.
  4. Monday, February 3 - Balthazar Season 3 on Acorn. Acorn February
  5. No Offence is my favorite of all of the shows on Acorn and Britbox. The character of DI Deering is one for the ages. Unfortunately, some of the cast announced via Twitter that it was canceled after Season 3. Still makes no sense to me at all because there was so much more story to tell.
  6. While I liked seeing Guillermo from my favorite, What we do in the Shadows, -- and I liked his speech to Zoey thanking her for sticking up for the bullied - I thought there was too much emphasis on him. I thought the dogs, standing desks and foosball were too much of a cliche. I lost my mother over the summer -- and have been overwhelmed at times dealing with the post-death paperwork; IMO Maggie's reactions were perfect. The most mundane issues - an email password and the security questions for a lost one - can become huge impediments to getting anything done. They really nailed that. Loved Hello Dolly and Mo waking Zoey on her first day back. Will miss Lauren Graham. I found this show because of her and liked her relationship with Zoey. The videos that Mitch left for his family killed me. When my dad died, the very first thing I did was to search my phone to see if I had a voice mail message so that I could hear his voice again.
  7. I tried to edit my last post but was unable to so apologies for the double post. I watched an interesting series on Acorn yesterday: Winter and its predecessor movie, The Killing Field. Set in Australia, it follows a female Detective Sergeant and her task force who investigate a serial killer in the movie and the death of a young woman in the series. It was good and held my attention - unlike some of the other shows I have started and stopped recently. Now watching a four-part series called Chasing Shadows, which starred Alex Kingston (from ER) as a missing person investigator working with a brilliant DS who appears to be on the autism spectrum. Not sure why they only made 2 two-part episodes because it is not bad.
  8. I hope that this is the end of Dale. Meemaw deserves better. Where is Veronica? I really hoped that she and Georgie would get together. Mary can definitely be overbearing but I felt she deserved better from George regarding the trip. He obviously did not want her to come - and then deliberately did not mention that she should bring a bathing suit - while packing one for himself.
  9. Sheldon's speech was great - the callout to Missy was wonderful. I hope that we continue to see the teachers in Sheldon's school. They crack me up - especially the two exasperated women.
  10. This is one of my favorite episodes. Missy was so terrific; I was sure that she was going to hit a home run but rushing the pitcher and beating the crap out of him was even better! Loved Meemaw encouraging her to kick him in the nuts. Craig Nelson is another great guest star. This show has really picked some classic former tv stars as recurring guests: Billy Gardell, Melissa Peterman, Richard Kind, Vernee Watson, and now Coach.
  11. The George/Missy scenes were incredibly sweet. I could watch a whole episode of them playing catch.
  12. Started watching Professor T today on PBS Masterpiece (through Amazon Prime). So far, interesting. I finally finished all of New Tricks. Started Season 1 of Rebecka Martinsson on Acorn. It's okay - nothing special IMO.
  13. Cracked up at Sheldon in the nurse's office - and the history of his visits.
  14. I loved that Meemaw was able to parrot back some of what Sheldon had told her. That was great.
  15. I would think that moving from being a high school coach to a college coach is a big step up so I was surprised that Mary didn't even consider how to overcome the obstacles: having George move himself, having Connie move with them, etc... Not very realistic for a family where the main breadwinner had previously lost his job forcing a move home. Cracked up at John's newly found athletic skill.
  16. I've been binge watching for the past few days. This was the first episode which I did not like. Too much Jason Alexander and too little Missy and Sheldon.
  17. I've been binge-watching Young Sheldon for the past few nights. This is my favorite episode to date because of the Missy/George dinner. So lovely.
  18. I really loved this episode even though it was a departure from the more ensemble episodes. Watching Laszlo turn in to Jackie Daytona with just a toothpick and jeans was hilarious. Cracked up throughout but especially when Laszlo told Jim that his name was printed on the card: Jim the Vampire.
  19. I considered it a personal victory that we were able to bring my mother home - via special ambulance with her attached to a ventilator - so that she could pass at home surrounded by her loved ones. I was on speakerphone with her for an hour as she was dying and told her over and over that it was okay for her to go - we would be okay. My mother did not have COVID but the COVID restrictions affected us just as if she did. I thought the scene with Bailey singing to her mother with dementia was very realistic - apparently music is a trigger to past memories. Also - Bailey's scene with Maggie where Bailey said that she was not sure what to do - very real.
  20. I cried right along with Bailey. I lost my mother this summer - - and said goodbye via iPad and phone - - so this really hit home.
  21. That is excellent news, thanks! The fourth season of Frankie Drake Mysteries will start airing in January on Canadian television. Not sure how long thereafter we need to wait for it to appear on either Ovation or PBS Masterpiece via Amazon.

    Season 03

This would have been an amazing standoff.
  23. I liked this episode; it definitely held my attention and I really liked seeing Hana figure out how to outsmart the perp. I'm still thrown by the inconsistent use of masks. In some scenes, some of the people are wearing masks; in others, none. It completely throws me.
  24. LisaM

    Season 03

I noticed two of the background players wearing masks while none of the main characters were masked. So... Which is it? Is Covid still raging or were the background masks an error?
  25. Now watching Collateral on Netflix. 4 episodes set in Britain and co-stars Nicola Walker, who has been in several of my favorite British mysteries.
