The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers - General Discussion
LisaM replied to jewel21's topic in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
Never watched the original. Have tuned in for Lauren Graham and am not disappointed. Some of the kids - especially the boy who was previously the announcer and pined for the cafe worker - are great. I loved their exuberance at scoring their first goal. -

The Brokenwood Mysteries - General Discussion
LisaM replied to screengem's topic in The Brokenwood Mysteries
Loved episode 3. Trudy being in the thick of things at the bank... Kristen's vault to save the day... Frodo being supportive....all good. I miss Breen but the new guy fit right in. Poor Bernie. Glad that the young teller was not involved. -
I'm now watching Luna and Sophie - German police detectives who are childhood best friends. The cases are not particularly heavy and the banter between the two leads is fun. It's on Amazon from Walter Presents.

Murdoch Mysteries - General Discussion
LisaM replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Murdoch Mysteries
I noticed all of the outdoor scenes during the New South Mimico episode - - likely due to Covid. I usually can't stand the over the top Newsomes but I definitely laughed out loud several times during this episode. -
Could not edit my above post so apologies for two posts in a row. Watched Bloodlands yesterday -- thought it was quite poor. I really expected more given all of the build up. The last episode, in particular, was lousy. In contrast, just finished the three episodes of The Pembrokeshire Murders (Britbox) - which was excellent. It told the story of the solving of a series of related real-life cold cases.

S17.E11: Sorry Doesn't Always Make It Right
LisaM replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Grey's Anatomy
I can't believe that I am writing about how much Amelia has grown on me. I used to really dislike her character. She and Linc are terrific together. I hope that their happiness continues. They have really risen to the occasion by taking care of 3 kids and an infant while still being crazy about each other. No small feat. Loved seeing Bess Armstrong! OTOH, I still dislike Owen and Teddy. -
S04.E13: The Geezer Bus and a New Model for Education
LisaM replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
This was one of my favorite episodes of the series. Loved the Geezer Bus with its celebrity riders. When you add in Ed Begley Jr., Craig T. Nelson and Wendie Malick, this was really a Who's Who of great tv actors and tv shows. Sheldon using distance learning! I laughed out loud several times. So pleased that Wallace Shawn continues to be a part of the show. -

Just watched 14.7 on Acorn (Escape Room). Hopefully, this is the end of Goldie Huckabee. Not cracked about Ralph Fellows either. Thought that Detective Watts and Miss Cherry got along very well. I hope she does not blow up his secret. Thrilled that there was no mention of Crabtree's stalker or Effie Newsome. -
Season 22 premieres in the US on April 19 on Acorn with 2 episodes. The remainder will air in the Fall.

The Brokenwood Mysteries - General Discussion
LisaM replied to screengem's topic in The Brokenwood Mysteries
I did not realize that there was a separate forum for Brokenwood Mysteries. Love this show. Watched the first show of Season 7 last night. Thrilled to see all of the usuals especially Mrs. Marlowe. -
How long has Meredith actually been on the ventilator? Do we know? I really do not like the Irish guy for Meredith. I did like his sister in law. Really like Maggie and Winston together. I hope that the show does not blow it up. Nice to see her happy. I can't imagine that the show would have brought Lisa Vidal on to do virtually nothing. They must have an arc planned for her. Liked the scenes with Amelia and Teddy.

Now watching The Paris Murders on Amazon Prime. They have "seasons 1 and 2" which are actually seasons 4 and 5 of the show when broadcast in France. Interesting police drama with a forensic psychologist in the lead role. ETA: Watched first episode of Season 7 of Brokenwood Mysteries last night. So nice to see the whole gang back together again.

S04.E11: A Pager, a Club and a Cranky Bag of Wrinkles
LisaM replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
I miss Dr. Sturgis. I don't get Mary pushing Sheldon to join college clubs either. I was pleasantly surprised that the people with whom Sheldon interviewed took him seriously and did not immediately try to dissuade an 11 year old from joining. Love seeing Reba and Annie together. -
I have started watching Agathe Koltes on Amazon Prime. French police drama with an interesting female lead character. So far, so good. UPDATE: I finished Agathe Koltes (Season 1) and can highly recommend it. Main premise is that a well-respected police commander transfers to her hometown police force where her estranged daughter is the police commissioner. Nobody else knows their connection. There is a Season 2 but it is not yet available anywhere on a streaming platform.

Have to admit that I ugly cried during the memorial. My mother died this summer - not from Covid but the Covid restrictions affected us nonetheless: no funeral, a Jewish shiva via Zoom, a very different kind of grieving divorced from the normal protocols. I could relate to what Glasses was expressing to Bailey. I really liked how Maggie kept tearing up - even when she was in the background.
-
After the last two episodes - which I thought were pretty good - this was a huge drop off of a cliff. While I love seeing Sherri Saum get more work, I have zero interest in more of Teddy's back story and would have preferred that the focus be on some of the other doctors. Perhaps the pandemic was the reason behind a story line which involved very few actors and sets? Whatever the reason, this was a huge miss.

Thanks so much for the link!

I am really looking forward to Bloodlands but I am going to wait for all Season1 episodes to drop before watching any. I'm too addicted to binge watching. Season 7 of Brokenwood Mysteries - one of my favorites - drops on March 29. Cannot wait.

Frankie Drake Mysteries - General Discussion
LisaM replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Frankie Drake Mysteries
I'm in the US so I have not seen Season 4 yet. I've been doing a re-watch of Seasons 1 -3 and am really going to miss this show. It's been fun to see how Mary and Flo started working with Drake Detectives -- and to see the beginning of the Mary/Flo friendship. I also love seeing how Mildred has come to admire and appreciate Trudy's detecting skills. -
I like the aunts a lot. Wasn't cracked on the lead actress but agree that it is weird that they are recasting.

Queens of Mystery renewed for Season 2 with a new actress playing the lead. Queens of Mystery Renewed

Has anyone heard any news on when to expect new episodes?
-
I don't watch Good Trouble but I loved The Fosters. It was great to see Stef and Lena again and to see Corey. Thrilled that they are taking in his sister. I would watch a Mamas spinoff in a heartbeat.

It's interesting why neither Hana nor Clinton have been shown in awhile - especially Clinton. Are the actors unavailable or is the production trying to save money by not having all of the actors in each episode? If that is the case, why would they bring in the new guy? Are there COVID restrictions why one or both of the actors cannot appear? The actor who plays Clinton is Canadian - perhaps there were border issues due to the pandemic?
