Here's a little piece about Gracie Brooks, George's birth mother. Gracie Brooks -
LL Bean was an instaget but their mention of shoes had me doubting myself and I was trying to come up with shoe makers. Couldn't think of anything better so I stayed with LL bean.

I liked this 8 episode series well enough, at least partly because it was new programming, but I don't know if I like it well enough to watch if it gets picked up for a full season - probably depends on what is on at the same time.

Season 17, Ep. 13 - Train to Nowhere Jan. 22 2024 I really enjoyed the Crabtree part of the show. I know we met George's birth mother many seasons ago but I don't think we ever heard about her again. And I don't remember how George met his birth father. Did they bring Dorothy back in to face justice or did they have to abandon her in their hurry to get away? It seems so much of the action takes place in the dark and I miss what is going on. At least we have George back with us now for the rest of the season. The other mystery was not bad but was pretty much just filler. I was concerned for the 'widow' and her children though. How are they going to live now? There was not much in the way of social services back then. Go Lions! -
I didn't even realize that was a different actress playing younger Eliza. She looked so much like Eliza that I thought they had just done a great job with the makeup on Kate Phillips. Anyhow, I enjoyed the episode even if it was just filler.

Broccoli salad good. Since I got 0/5 I'll bring donut holes to be washed down with @ams1001's cocoa and tea.

Me too. It was wrong but at least Paul Robeson did play Porgy. And there was a murder committed in Porgy and Bess although not committed by Porgy. I was distracted during most of Jeopardy round by a cat who needed attention and I missed a lot of DJ too. My only ts's were hard hat and halftrack, helped partly by remembering General Halftrack in the Beetle Bailey comic strip.

Season 17, Ep 11 - A Heavy Event Jan. 8 2024 Kilts, bagpipes, and a stabbing. Murdoch and Brackenreid solve the murder. Season 17, Ep. 12 - Wheel of Bad Fortune Jan. 15 2024 I have long had an interest in the occult (although not enough to actually go to a psychic fair) so I found last night's episode to be very interesting. Another sad story where the victim deserved what he got (even though he was trying to make up for his crimes) and the perpetrator was the real victim. The woman con artist was really awful, both for her criminal acts and for abandoning the boy. Poor Margaret! What a terrible scene that was shown in the fireplace. I'm not sure what year MM is in this season but it must be getting fairly near the start of WWI. -
No, it would not cure it and most likely make it worse. Alcohol may make you go to sleep but it doesn't keep you asleep. Here is a good article about it: Alcohol and sleep

I had read the post above about a "sad ending" so I was greatly afraid for Fitzroy when they raided the robbers' den. Thankfully, he survived and, as has also been said above, I can't worry too much about the Duke - we know he'll be okay. And Eliza made a little headway with Mr. Potts so that is all to the good. I miss Moses too.

But can they be trusted?

1/5, back to my usual table.

Why does there always have to be a dirty cop?

I did not get FJ. I was trying to come up with two state capitals that were close together so I said Jackson and Baton Rouge. Of course it was more likely that the events occured earlier in US history so I should have stayed to the east coast but I did not.
-
Didn't we see him in that short scene in the morgue? As soon as Eliza and the last remaining detective (couldn't find his name) came to an understanding I figured he would be taking over for Moses. I hope not though.

4/5 1*

Yes, Saber started it.

An okay game for me although I had only one ts, Cornwall. FJ was an instaget.

That picture of the "jaybird" they showed looks like the Eurasian Jay. It certainly wasn't a North American blue jay or gray jay. I got the ts of Neil Diamond and the missed DD of Thursday but that was it. For FJ I said London Bridge, thinking it might have, at each end, five gates for entry to the bridge. So, I guess I was sort of on the right track but still totally wrong.

Season 17, Ep 10 - Mrs. Crabtree's Neighbourhood Jan. 1 2024 A good solid episode to come back with. I don't always like it when two plotlines come together but this seemed to work out well. I don't think they would have solved the killings if not for Effie. I was horrified that Effie was left alone to look after herself especially when it was obvious she was overdoing the morphine. And why didn't she go sleep in her bed instead of sitting upright in a chair - not comfortable at all. So the bad guys killed the poor dog. Horses, now dogs, I hate that. But it was very kind of Effie and Julia to get the nice neighbour a puppy. -
4/5 for me this week, Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday. I thought I had 3/5 this week so decided to bring my homemade cloverleaf rolls; turns out I had 4/5 but I'll still bring the cloverleaf rolls because they are very good. Happy New Year, everyone!

Same here. I asked myself who the famous couple could be in that time and Tony and Cleo were all that came up. It took a little bit to get there. I was thinking it would be another animal answer so was all ready with my answer of hippodrome. I did not get any ts's or missed DDs. I remembered the contestant who worked with salmon management. He was so enthusiastic about it first time around and again last night.

Me too, not until you mentioned it. Elephant, mouse, bull. Wonder if they'll keep it up today and tomorrow. I did not know about the bull statue. I said stock broker then laughed and laughed. I was closer than I thought. My only two ts's were pine sign and sins.
