  1. I don't know if his mother has the gift or is maybe just able to give it to Luke. I got the idea from what she said that she does not hear the voices. I guess we'll find out next week if he got his powers back. eta: according to this recap I found, Victoria did hear voices. Don't know if she still does. Recap
  2. I believe the link is correct now.
  3. I don't know how to embed things either but here's a link to a youtube video. Canada's worst Christmas tree
  4. That was my thinking too so I went with Sol - however that didn't get me anywhere. I should have gone back to Helios but I didn't.
  5. A decent game for me tonight. I got the ts's or missed DDs of hanging, poison, Bambi, and bicycle racing. I knew bel canto but couldn't pull it out in time - I was still laughing at Nick's disgusted "Opera!" in a book category. FJ was an instaget, my first FJ of the week. I was surprised that two players said David Bowie - I never knew he had only one blue eye so that was interesting to learn. I've never had a Marie Callender apple pie but her meat pies are not bad.
  6. Ditto on all points. My first response of course was Murdoch Mysteries but I was pretty sure that wasn't it. My only ts's were Rhode Island Red and nobble/noble - I knew nobble from all the English mysteries I read.
  7. Season 17, Episode 7 - Cool Million November 13, 2023 I agree, I liked it but didn't love it. Horse, or any animal, murder is just such an awful thing, causing pain and death to a poor, helpless animal just to further some greedy human's agenda. I remember how shocked I was when I read The Godfather. I did love seeing Miss Hart in her riding clothes and I figured she would be the jockey; too bad she was disqualified for being a woman even though she won. Season 17, Episode 8 - The Cottage in the Woods November 20, 2023 I can't say I figured out that it was one of the Adventurettes who did the deed although I should have. That leader doesn't seem to be any loss to society and I wonder that the man (whatever his name was) was in love with her. It was a good mystery and I liked the women bonding and drinking wine. "Who drank all the wine?" "Julia!" That Strangers on a Train twist never gets old. I do like Watts and Murdoch working together and they did figure it out fairly quickly. It's a Christmas episode next week.
  8. TV reality and real life reality are totally different. My only tv experience of tv births/adoptions is from Friends, where the woman had her twin babies and Monica and Chandler took the babies home that same day. Perhaps we'll get an explanation of how it all happened or perhaps we'll never hear another thing about it except that Phil and Anthony will be parents.
  9. I was so far off the beam I said Tom Sawyer. I have no idea why he came to mind.
  10. 1/5 0* Back at my usual table.
  11. I really enjoyed this episode. I like Lomax, better than Susan so far, and liked the way she put Zooey in her place. Zooey was resentful of her for no good reason and deserved what she got. I'm glad Zooey is so worried about Susan. And I wonder when Susan will be back. Lomax's rapport with the old woman who couldn't die was nice and I imagine they will remain friends, even if we never see it. Poor Morris. He was such a nice little kid but the voice, supposedly there to help him, drove him to the bad. The best of intentions don't always accomplish what they are intended to do. Phil flying off to Emergency made me think something awful had happened, then we went from the sadness/regrets of Morris and the monster to the joy of Phil and Anthony coming home with a baby. I got a little teary eyed. Since they were on the list for adoption I suppose an opportunity came up suddenly and they were called to get the baby. Perhaps the mother was killed in an accident but her baby survived and had no one to take it. Totally a guess on my part.
  12. This non-contestant had the same problem. I was sad too that he was a ts.
  13. I was going to explain it too, but @Good Queen Jane did a great job of explaining it. Anyhow, I got the ts's or missed DDs of Salome, mantilla, St. Christopher, and Bernadette. Did not get FJ and didn't even come up with any clear guess. Mumbled "Smithsonian" with no hope that it was correct. A come-from-behind win! Makes FJ just a little more interesting.
  14. A decent game for me. I got the ts's of decoupage, Garth Brooks, Bridget Jones, and the missed DD of Vancouver. FJ was an instaguess but I couldn't think of anything else so stayed with Liberty Bell.
  15. I am enjoying it. I laughed when Michael Voltaggio showed up to go against his brother, Brian. And I'm glad they won the challenge against Bobby and Darnell. I knew turkey sausage just wasn't going to cut it in turkey tetrazzini.
  16. A middling game for me with only one ts: Chevrolet. Unfortunately, "Georgia green" did not lead to Atlanta so I guessed Jim Beam. Once the answer was revealed I was sure I'd be the only person in the world to have gotten it wrong. I'm glad to see that I wasn't. I liked Fred and Stuart but I'm afraid Emily didn't make much impression on me. I thought Fred's voice was so loud because he's a professor and was projecting to the back of the class.
  17. Yes, Queen Isabella of Castile who, along with her husband Ferdinand of Aragon, financed Columbus' expeditions and helped start the Spanish Inquisition.
  18. So Alvin died? That is so sad. I liked him even though we only saw him briefly. I'm glad Luke is thinking about Susan and trying to get in touch with her. I guess he'll eventually realize something is wrong and go rescue her.
  19. Not too good a game for me. My only ts was double eagle. For FJ I saw a date in 1400s, mother Isabelle and blurted out Catherine of Aragon. The rest of the clue didn't really connect to her of course but it was too late, my mind was fixed and Joan of Arc didn't occur to me. Besides, I have never heard of her mother working to clear her name so I'll have to look that up.
  20. 2/5 0* I'll bring some dips for the breadsticks that aren't already coated in chocolatey goodness.
  21. Only two ts's or missed DDs for me: chattels and Dürer. For some reason Faulkner popped into my mind immediately. I think it was the regional thing, since I know he wrote about the south. I was a little worried for Jen when she won. I thought she might pass out from excitement.
  22. How did you all like four Rex dogs last night? Weren't they beautiful? Rex just fit in with the other three dogs.
  23. Season 17 Ep. 6 Dying to be Enlightened Nov. 6 2023 I liked this episode very much. It was good to see Watts come to terms with himself and his private and public lives. Poor Effie. She is missing George so much. She probably should have gone with him to find his father. Julia the skeptic! At least she solved a murder and learned to be more flexible, bodywise. William seemed to like that! I was glad the guru was not the bad guy for a change. Yes, there was crookedness, but not his doing. I didn't think he was doing anything wrong by just recycling exercises and philosophies taken from other cultures. At least he was presenting it to people in a way they could understand and gain something from it.
  24. I thought so too. He was so OTT on his last game and so subdued last night that I figured he was told to tone it down some. Anyhow, I got no ts's, just the missed DD of Sartre but it was otherwise an okay game for me. For FJ I said Ethiopia right away then noticed they wanted the capital. Luckily it is one of the few African capitals I do know so I switched to Addis Ababa.
  25. What with having no opposable thumbs and all.
