  1. My verdict: Good, I guess. I thought it was good overall but in the landscape of superhero movies, meh. Diana was easily the best part, and they did a wonderful job with her character with Steve Trevor coming in a close second. I wish they hadn't had Diana speak Chinese tho. That was probably the worst Chinese I've ever heard on film, from both Gal Gadot and the actor played Sameer. I didn't even realize that's what they were speaking until Sameer said so. Really took me out of the film for a moment. I felt like the reactions to Diana going to the front could have been more extreme, especially when they were in the trenches. Obviously Steve and his crew knew what she was made of, but how were the random soldiers not gaping at a woman on the war front? Before the No Man's Land scene, of course. Of course there were some women historically who were in the trenches but a woman was probably still few and far between. The plot was passable I guess and wasn't particularly that engaging or interesting beyond giving Diana moments to be awesome. The Ares stuff was interesting but the Doctor Poiston stuff felt underdeveloped. Some great battle sequences, though. Count me among those who liked Ares better when he was using his words before it devolved into the generic CGI fight. The General and Doctor Poison were a bit on the cheesy side (in a bad way) but overall fine. One of my pet peeves is when foreign characters still speak English when they're around other (in this case) German people. It was especially inconsistent in this film. We'd hear extras speaking German in the establishing shots and then accented English. It really is just nitpicking. For me, it was mostly just this little nitpicks adding up. Overall, I did like it and it was much much much better than the trash heap that was Suicide Squad. I'm excited to see Diana in more films! Still not excited about Justice League, tho. I'll just wait for her sequel film.
  2. I remember when he was the Heath Ledger character in that 10 Things I Hate About You tv series. He looks like his grandfather.
  3. It's weird to think that I'm pretty sure I discovered That 70s Show by watching reruns of season 8 episodes on FX. I didn't catch all of them, and when it eventually cycled back to the earlier seasons (season 5 I think?) I was like, "Donna's a redhead!" and "Is that Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace?" I was confused as to why Randy was gone, but I can't say I missed him much. And then, since I ended up seeing a lot more of the pre-blonde-Donna era I kinda forgot about season 8 until coming to this board (although I remembered that Jackie ended up with Fez, ugh). Either way, I watched a lot of it out of order and in bits and pieces and now I get to see it with more clarity than before. I have to Ashton Kutcher some credit -- Kelso could have been A LOT more annoying as a character, especially after multiple seasons. And the show was still able to be fairly funny even in season 7, although it still wasn't as good as earlier seasons. Consistency wise, the sitcom I've found to actually be hilarious in its entirety was Malcolm in the Middle. Rewatching is reigniting the slight crush I had on Topher Grace as a preteen. I like a snarky guy. Ashton Kutcher is still pretty, but Kelso is too dumb. Also a bit irrelevant, but I just found out that Danny Masterson was in that old TBS show Men at Work, which I remember watching occasionally. And I recalled all of the other main characters (when I looked up images on google lol) except for him. Big hole in my memory where his character is. Forever bitter about Jackie and Hyde (even more now that I just rewatched their whole relationship, even season 7). And I see that I'm not alone!
  4. Wow, that's no excuse. If Great Comet can do it and Dear Evan Hansen can bring all their screens in and pretty much everyone else could do it, they could have done something. I wanted to see Gavin sing, damnit!
  5. I think they lived together during Pitch Perfect filming or something like that. Or else does Anna Camp live with them?
  6. I haven't listen to The Great Comet yet (I've got to though, it sounds great!) but I saw Dear Evan Hansen back in April and it was an experience. I pretty much started crying at Waving Through a Window and never stopped. But I have a lot of the same struggles as Evan, so it was especially emotional for me. I'm really glad that the show won, it really is beautiful. But I think For Forever has a more beautiful melody than Waving Through a Window (and doesn't get performed nearly as much, probably since it's harder to perform out of context).
  7. I love how Kevin Spacey got Robin Wright and Michael Kelly to show up to say nothing. Gavin!!!! I've been a fan since I saw a bootleg of Thoroughly Modern Millie and even got seeing him in BOM in LA. I'm so excited that he won! Ben Platt's performance in DEH was incredible and he totally deserved the Tony. I love Waving from a Window, but I wish they would have done You Will be Found instead. Then everyone could have been onstage.
  8. I used to watch reruns of the show on tv when i was a preteen and I'm rewatching it on Netflix and wow, I did not notice how wooden Laura Prepon was at the time. Out of the kids I'd say Topher Grace was the most natural actor, which makes it more obvious how bad LP is. Loved Jackie and Hyde then, still love them now.
  9. Elizabeth Gillies was on Broadway for like 3 months in 2008. Don't pawn her off on broadway!
  10. I always thought the scene towards the end when he sees that Ellie filled up her Adventure Book with pictures of their life together to be even more poignant. The perfect bookend to their story.
  11. Why is Catharine Zeta-Jones doing a Lifetime movie?
  12. I guess you could make the comparison, with the big difference being that Michael Fassbender has never been considered traditionally handsome. I mean hot as hell, but not pretty the way Jude Law was. MF never had a pretty boy period, and the pretty boy roles that come with that. He's always done quirky, intense work. I mean his big leading man break in the US was playing a sex addict (Shame) and before that he played a guy sleeping with an underage girl and a prisoner on a hunger strike. Jude Law's stuff was always a bit more conventional. I remember him being like unnaturally beautiful in The Talented Mr. Ripley. Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon looked cute too, but next to Jude they both paled in comparison.
  13. Who's performing at the Tonys this year Since Falsettos will be performing, I was hoping Sunday in the Park might have been able to perform as well. I just really wanted a good quality video of Jake and Annaleigh to obsessively watch.
  14. Marvel is making a female superhero movie, Captain Marvel, with Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. But it's not set to come out until 2019. So I guess this time, the DCEU will lay out the groundwork for the MCU for a change.
  15. I was pleasantly surprised that Titus actually grew a bit this season. Mostly through his relationship with Mikey. Letting Mikey go to figure out what he really wants was a pretty unselfish thing for Titus to do. The last Lemonade parody in that episode was surprisingly poignant in that effect.
  16. I love The Social Network. I watch every time it plays on television. I hadn't seen a David Fincher film before it, and after I was a big fan. It also introduced me to Andrew Garfield and that's always good.
  17. I was hoping that Russ would end up being able to remain kind and humble even when he was hot but it makes sense he would be intoxicated on the attention he's never received before in his life. "You know you're in the golden age of television when you take a show like The Americans for granted." Preach!
  18. I'm glad that Jacqueline's love for Russ has been shown to be genuine throughout the season. I was afraid that she would leave him after he got smooshed.
  19. Xabi Alonso and Philipp Lahm played their final games today. Danke and gracias to 2 legends!
  20. I may have let out a audible "aw..." when Brona was cooing over how actress onstage looked so pretty and Ethan says "so are you" behind her so quietly she doesn't even notice and just looks at her adoringly. I didn't even notice he said it until i read the captions.
  21. I agree with all of that @tennisgurl. I believed Ego when he said he truly loved Peter's mother, but to him her life didn't matter very much. To someone like him -- as he himself said -- everyone, everything, all life is temporary except for him. So what did it matter if she died? She would've have died eventually.
  22. I've never thought Chris Hemworth's face was handsome at all, but he has an overall charisma and attractiveness that he's still crushworthy. Especially now that he's gotten rid of that awful long Thor hair.
  23. There's a school edition of Rent that's toned down, so they'll probably just do that to avoid the controversy?
