The Taylor Swift Topic: Teen Country Sensation to World-Dominating Pop Star
Spartan Girl replied to UYI's topic in Music
I’m not even a fan, so can someone please explain to me why I can’t stop listening to “All Too Well”? -

Plus she's a woman with a doctorate, and that's all the incentive some people need to tear her down.

S02.E06: Wrestling with the Future

Yes, Elizabeth Berkeley doesn’t get enough credit for her sense of humor about Showgirls. Damn, Jessie really decided to go all out in cutting loose. 😂😂😂😂😂 -
Brian dragging his butt all over the luxury guest room, and Consuela just noping out at the sight of the mess gave me a good laugh.

The Fall Guy: Colt crying in his car listening to “All Too Well” hits such a note with me. And I don’t even like Taylor Swift. -
I meant in this episode, when she bought Itchy and Scratchy stuff for Maggie, which led them to declare Itchy and Scrachy for Babies.

These future episodes need to pick a plot line and stick with it. Then again, it’s not like the flashback episodes are consistent either… Pfft. Ringo can do better. I was impressed that the show would be ballsy enough to kill her off, though everyone overlooks that Bart and Lisa losing interest in Itchy and Scratchy was her fault to begin with…but nobody ever listens to me.

I finally got around to binging this series, and it was fun. Dumb at times, but the fact that it didn’t take itself seriously made it easier to swallow. It’s a real shame it got cancelled just when it was starting to find its feet, and Jessie and Slater finally decided to go for it. Points to Zack for being so supportive to Kelly for taking the MCATS even if his study methods were…yeah.

Fuck, fuck fuck fuck FUCK!!! It sounds like they’re optimistic about treatment options, though. Maybe now media can lay off him and that stupid book…oh who am I kidding, they’re going obsess about him more than ever. Fucking vultures.

Maybe they offered it to Kiefer and he didn’t want the role. Either way, you can’t go wrong with Fiennes. I’m psyched that Kelvin Harrison Jr and Maya Hawke are going to be Beetee and Wiress!

Gender On Television: It's Like Feminism Never Happened
Spartan Girl replied to Bastet's topic in Everything Else TV
If this is true, I’m baffled that Whedon didn’t just let Nicholas/Xander go right then and there. Why give him a choice to stay at all? But knowing Whedon, he probably couldn’t let his self-insert go completely. Even if Xander wasn’t going to be a large part of that season 4, it’s like he felt compelled to keep the male normie sidekick around to moralize and keep Buffy in check, then justify it by calling Xander be the “heart” of the team. How feminist of him./s -

The age of the actors is irrelevant. It’s the character development that counts. And as far as I could tell, Xander remained the same character he’s always been. Anyway, my point is that it won’t be the end of the world if Xander isn’t there. It’s a good opportunity to focus more on the female characters and get away from the latent misogyny Whedon implemented. -

He had ample opportunities for that in the original run and he squandered every last one of them. He isn’t as popular a character as he used to be, so I think people will survive not having him back. -

Getting back to the actual thread topic… The new Buffy reboot has cast its lead. I wonder how much difference it’ll make now that new showrunners are in charge and thus the reek of Whedon misogyny will hopefully be eradicated. I honestly hope Sarah is the only legacy actor that shows up. Xander isn’t even mentioned, that’ll be aces, but if he’s killed offscreen, @Danny Franks, @Wiendish Fitchand I just might have to throw a parade. 😉 -
I’m sorry but Jake Tapper’s book reeks of bullshit. I never trust “unnamed sources.” And I really feel like him and other members are the media are doubling down and passing the buck to absolve their own role in normalizing Trump and ratfucking the election.

No sympathy for Maroun. She has nobody put herself to blame for playing fast and loose with the law.

LGBT Themes, Stories And Characters On TV
Spartan Girl replied to maraleia's topic in Everything Else TV
While I'm not sure if the character of Blythe on season 1 of You was written as a trans woman, the fact remains that she was played by trans actress Hari Nef, and her and Ethan (Joe's dorky and goodhearted assistant at the bookshop) was one of the few healthy, functional, and sweetest genuine romances on the show, so that makes it good trans representation in my book! Come to think of it, with the exception of Peach, most of the LGTBQ characters on the show did pretty okay for themselves: Love’s friends that got married in season 2, Sherry and Cary (both bisexual and despite the fact they were ridiculous, one of the best relationships on the show), Henry’s Madre Linda dada, and last but not least, Teddy Lockwood, who was the sanest and nicest person in that family. -
Catch Me If You Can: Brenda’s (Amy Adam’s) threw her out of the house after she got raped and impregnated by a family friend, and didn’t take her back until she brought home Frank (Leo DiCaprio) as her fiancé. I hate that the movie glossed over that with how happy a family they were afterwards. I don’t care if it was “a different time.” And it really makes me question if they continued to support Brenda even after Frank was exposed…

To everyone that just shrugged when we tried to tell them that this would happen if Trump won

It is unfortunately realistic given the cursed timeline we’re living in, but it still pisses me off.
